03:20 AM linuxcnc-build: Hey! build 0000.checkin #6411 is complete: Success [3build successful]
03:24 AM linuxcnc-build: Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/0000.checkin/builds/6411
12:08 PM skunkworks: jepler: do you have the picture with the spi board above the pi?
12:35 PM jepler: Above? I always mounted the pi on top
12:36 PM * jepler uploaded an image: IMG_20200117_101541.jpg (125KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/HEjrVmpZKFXDgXOZFYycGdEz >
05:15 PM skunkworks: jepler: thanks!
05:16 PM skunkworks: pcw_mesa: ethernet running isolcpus 1,2,3 590570
05:16 PM skunkworks: (servo tmax)
05:18 PM skunkworks: so far
05:18 PM skunkworks: (without the browser open)
05:19 PM skunkworks: it sounds nice. I bet the problem i had before was not running the pi at its peak frequency
05:19 PM skunkworks: (force_turbo)
05:19 PM skunkworks: it seemed like the userspace couldn't keep up with the realtime
05:20 PM pcw_mesa: on SPI I get about 300000 initially but it spikes to about .6 or .7 ms after an hour or so (bu thats stable for at least a week now)
05:20 PM skunkworks: jepler: for some reason in my mind the mesa card was on top..
05:21 PM skunkworks: I should try running at 1600mhz.. I did for a bit trying to troubleshoot the FE problem/
05:21 PM pcw_mesa: Yes, userland is not too bad on just one RPI4 CPU
05:21 PM skunkworks: right.
05:21 PM skunkworks: zooming and panning is pretty good
05:21 PM skunkworks: very usable.
05:22 PM pcw_mesa: the graphic engine is either a lot better or better supported
05:22 PM skunkworks: You can overclock the video also
05:23 PM pcw_mesa: (than the RPI3 which has rather abysmal graphics at least with the kernel I have)
05:24 PM pcw_mesa: I didnt install NTP yet (but the test RPI is about 5 feet from the WIFI router so maybe never gets much out of sync)
05:24 PM skunkworks: did you use jepler's image?
05:25 PM skunkworks: (if so - it most likely has ntp installed)
05:26 PM skunkworks: like I say - at home - I didn't have any problems mostly at all..
05:26 PM pcw_mesa: I just installed Raspbian and then built a rt kernel and the did a RIP source build
05:26 PM skunkworks: or very rarely..
05:26 PM skunkworks: ok
05:26 PM skunkworks: very hard to trouble shoot.
05:30 PM pcw_mesa: if you only have rare excursions beyond 1 ms and they are ethernet read related you can set the read timeout to say 60% and use the patch FE on packet error hal stuff
05:38 PM skunkworks: pcw_mesa: yes - the few times I have had realtime delays - there didn't seem to be any loss of motion
05:38 PM skunkworks: (and I am running the vamp
06:04 PM skunkworks: 668988 with the browser open
06:06 PM skunkworks: not going to try youtube.
06:08 PM skunkworks: JT-Shop: https://zaphod.unpythonic.net/pi/
06:12 PM skunkworks: I don't know how -'out there' jeff wants it.
