03:19 AM st12: they actually do work
03:19 AM TurBoss: \o/
03:19 AM TurBoss: hurray!
03:52 AM st12: rene_dev_:
03:54 AM st12: rene_dev_: if sim rendering(opengl, tried just axis) is dark for you need to set this env MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE="3.0 Mesa 17.2.5" linuxcnc (spend a LOT to figure out that)
03:54 AM st12: :)
04:05 AM rene_dev_: St12 cool, I have a look later today.
04:05 AM rene_dev_: St12 But I still have the problem that no gui starts
04:06 AM rene_dev_: Im getting a lot of type problems in the python code
04:06 AM st12: did i try my last 'new' branch?
04:08 AM st12: it includes some python fixes, i'm able to start at least axis (as you said no need to touch other things)
04:25 AM rene_dev_: depends which other things, but especially gmoccapy has a new version comming, no no need to port the old one
04:26 AM st12: let me know what else i could port
05:10 AM rene_dev_: Probably everything but Gmocapy. I will let Norbert know to port the new version.
05:12 AM st12: any priorities?
05:27 AM rene_dev_: Probably the other UIs
05:27 AM rene_dev_: Do you know why the few tests fail?
05:30 AM * st12 sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/qvJqYCidVYwUlTlNgPebkOtf >
05:35 AM rene_dev_: Oh
05:35 AM rene_dev_: So a Problem with the tests?
05:37 AM st12: yes, you won't see output issues by print() when you using pipe, and that's not stderr/stdout redirect issue
05:37 AM st12: *issued
05:40 AM st12: i've fixed most test, but for these probably need to use some different approaches other than just rely on 'print()'
06:18 AM rene_dev_: I wonder why that only happens with python 3
06:37 AM jthornton: hmm I just built a livecd with no desktop lol
04:01 PM JT-Shop: andypugh: I got the docs part sorted out on the linuxcnc.org page and started on the archives
04:01 PM JT-Shop: still need to do the download
04:02 PM andypugh: What is there to download?
04:03 PM andypugh: I am making some progress with the Wheezy ISO
04:12 PM JT-Shop: the download link, I want to make it go to a page on the wlo so you don't loose the header bar
04:12 PM JT-Shop: like I did the documents
04:12 PM JT-Shop: with rt preepmt?
04:20 PM andypugh: No, woth RTAI
04:20 PM andypugh: No point doing a Wheezy preempt-rt, really
04:25 PM JT-Shop: ah cool
04:32 PM JT-Shop: so don't lose the header even and I can't blame it on a spell checker lol
04:32 PM Tom_L: you just need the iso i have a cd
04:32 PM Tom_L: for wheezy
04:33 PM JT-Shop: me?
04:33 PM Tom_L: either of you
04:33 PM Tom_L: there likely won't be any updates to the OS
04:33 PM Tom_L: just lcnc
04:40 PM Tom_L: also have ubuntu 10.04 linux 2.5, binary.hybrid.iso <- not sure, and wheezy linuxcnc 2.7
04:43 PM Tom_L: i suspect the idea is to put the latest lcnc on it though
04:44 PM JT-Shop: I'm running 2.7 on ubuntu 10.04
04:45 PM Tom_L: you must have done all the updates
04:46 PM JT-Shop: yea and I did something so it keeps getting updates
05:55 PM andypugh: JT-Shop: I have a fixed RTAI / Wheezy ISO and zsynch.
06:01 PM JT-Shop: sweet, now we need to get it uploaded to linuxcnc.org
06:10 PM jthornton: andypugh: would it make any sense to just put the iso's on github?
06:13 PM andypugh: I don’t think so.
06:13 PM jthornton: ok, just thinking out loud
06:13 PM andypugh: I don;t know why, but it just seems the wreong thing to do to me.
06:14 PM jthornton: I need to get ftp access to linuxcnc.org
06:15 PM jthornton: cradek: is linuxcnc.org hosted on dreamhost?
06:22 PM andypugh: jthornton: Try this URL?
06:22 PM andypugh: http://www.linuxcnc.org/administrator/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=showusers
06:22 PM andypugh: My computer remembers it, though it doesn’t work for me
06:23 PM JT-Shop: 404
06:23 PM andypugh: OK, same as me.
06:24 PM JT-Shop: I even removed all past administrator and still 404
06:25 PM mozmck: I think that administrator page was for the previous CMS that was used.
06:25 PM andypugh: Yeah, I think that might have been a previous server
06:25 PM mozmck: Same server I'm pretty sure.
06:25 PM JT-Shop: yeah I think so
06:26 PM mozmck: Well, I'm not sure now. The nameservers are at digitalocean, name registrar is namecheap
06:28 PM mozmck: I think seb and cradek have access to the site. Looks like only jelper, cradek, and seb can add members to github to give them push access.
06:33 PM JT-Shop: I guess only the forum is at dreamhosters
06:35 PM andypugh: seb said that wlo was there too.
06:36 PM JT-Shop: on dreamhosters?
06:36 PM andypugh: Yes
06:36 PM JT-Shop: I wish I could find the log in info jeff gave me
06:40 PM Tom_L: wasn't posted here was it?
06:40 PM JT-Shop: might have been or a pm
06:40 PM Tom_L: i wouldn't have the pm log :)
06:40 PM JT-Shop: ah you can grep them
06:41 PM Tom_L: what would be a good search term?
06:41 PM JT-Shop: password
06:43 PM Tom_L: not for github right?
06:44 PM JT-Shop: for dreamhost
06:45 PM JT-Shop: I need access to dreamhost to backup the forum before any updates
06:47 PM Tom_L: jmk-mcfaul_>
06:47 PM Tom_L: who was that?
06:48 PM JT-Shop: doesn't ring a bell for me but yes that is jmk john kasunak or something like that
06:50 PM JT-Shop: time to retire to the house
06:51 PM Tom_L: i doubt it would have been posted here
06:53 PM jthornton: it was prob a pm
06:54 PM Tom_L: did you log your pm's?
06:54 PM jthornton: I wonder if anyone has jepler's email?
06:54 PM jthornton: no
06:56 PM jthornton: we also need to get some ops for here that are active
06:56 PM jthornton: or what ever the blue dot is
06:57 PM Tom_L: blue dot?
06:57 PM Tom_L: heh that's client specific i believe
06:57 PM Tom_L: mine shows a +
06:57 PM jthornton: on hex chat alex_joni cradek linuxcnc-build and seb_kuzminsky have blue dots I assume they have the keys to here
06:57 PM Tom_L: that's not op but probably voice
06:58 PM jthornton: ah
06:58 PM Tom_L: which may go hand in hand
06:58 PM jthornton: yea I remember giving voice to...
07:00 PM Tom_L: pm
07:34 PM rsteiner: I created a channel by mistake and had the blue dot by my name, so I think they can kick folks from the channel if needed
07:35 PM rsteiner: along the lines of the server, does anyone know if dreamhost is performing regular backups of the site and is the wiki hosted there in the same location?
07:36 PM andypugh: A questrion for Seb, I think.
07:37 PM rsteiner: Andy, I think I am going to dig into the current state of the different RT options some more and see if I can set up some tests on different kernel versions where with the different options to see what works and what doesn't on older to new hardware that I have.
07:39 PM andypugh: It does seem to be very hardware dependent. My RM-One gives 5k with preempt-rt and 8k with RTAI, bit both those numbers are the best I have seen. I think my mill has 38k latency. (but runs with Mesa, so it’s no big deal)
07:41 PM rsteiner: I have an older HP system that with the on board video was unusable, but getting a low cost video card (tried two) ended up getting down to 7k from almost 500k worst case. That runs the router really nicely right now.
07:41 PM rsteiner: How are you interfaced to your mesa card?
07:46 PM mozmck: Nice thing about ethernet mesa cards with preempt-rt is that you can tolerate up to 200 uS jitter. PC latency should be less than that, but I have no problems with systems that have up to 120 uS
07:48 PM andypugh: My Mesa cards are all PCI, though I ran a 7i43 for some years.
07:48 PM andypugh: (7i43 is EPP interface)
07:56 PM andypugh: Anyway, it’s late again
