08:08 AM jepler: mozmck: fwiw I am getting those "first messages" as a forum administrator. I assume someone else is too, as the last one I got was spam and had already been deleted by the time I got there.
08:08 AM mozmck: jepler: I think I deleted that one last night.
08:08 AM mozmck: Haven't looked yet today.
08:10 AM mozmck: jepler: I don't seem to be getting the "first messages", just normal post notifications.
08:11 AM jepler: huh.
08:11 AM jepler: whatever I'm getting these past few days is new since you changed that setting
08:11 AM jepler: 2 ND Aug 28 LinuxCNC ( 0) nike air max (General LinuxCNC Questions)
08:12 AM jepler: afk, I'm already late to work
08:12 AM mozmck: jepler: Did you already approve them? I'm looking at the Moderation queue and I see no "Unapproved Posts" currently.
08:12 AM jepler: mozmck: there are two I approved, one I deleted
08:12 AM mozmck: Ok, makes sense. I'll see if I need to change a setting to get those notices or something.
11:12 AM sliptoni` is now known as sliptonic
11:14 AM sliptonic is now known as Sliptonic
11:27 AM jepler: I think these updates include a kernel, so forum update in 3, 2, 1...
11:27 AM jepler: er reboot that is
11:41 AM mozmck: jepler: I found a setting in one place to send moderator emails to me, and it was off. There seem to be several places for user settings and they all have different settings!
11:43 AM jepler: mozmck: that's great, blah!
11:43 AM jepler: knowing that I may actually turn it off for me
11:44 AM jepler: joomla update too, just since earlier this morning. hold on to your hats!
11:45 AM mozmck: jepler: you have to go to Components->Community Builder->User Management, then find your user.
11:45 AM jepler: OK so far
11:48 AM jepler: hm under moderation my user is already set to "is moderator: no" but category is "global moderator" and changing it does nothing
11:48 AM jepler: maybe as administrator I'm stuck
11:49 AM jepler: oh well, I'll live.
11:49 AM mozmck: There is a setting "Receive Moderator Emails"
11:50 AM jepler: on which tab of the user management user page?
11:51 AM jepler: oh I didn't listen to what you said at all
11:51 AM jepler: I was in kunena user management
11:51 AM mozmck: Ah, yes - not there.
11:52 AM jepler: those are both set to "no" for my user already :-/
11:52 AM jepler: er set to no for both of my users
11:53 AM mozmck: Huh, well I don't know then. I do get emails if someone reports a post, but it seems like I don't for the first post notice.
11:54 AM mozmck: I notice in community builder that some admins are listed as being in the "Super users" group but I am not. I don't know if that makes a difference.
02:26 PM andypugh: I get just about every new post. But I do not get any notification that a post needs to be approved.
02:27 PM andypugh: To be honest I would rather clear up the occasional spam than have users waiting hours for a post to make it to the forum.
02:47 PM mozmck: andypugh: spam has gotten a lot more than occasional lately. And each spammer would get in from 5 to 20 posts before anyone could stop them
02:48 PM mozmck: I never could figure out a way to delete it all at once either - you can't delete a user with all their posts or even see all the posts of a user as you can with phpBB
02:48 PM mozmck: So I have to go find each spam one at a time and delete, then permanent delete.
02:49 PM mozmck: It is only the first post of a new user that needs approving - after that they are directly posted.
03:11 PM andypugh: There _used_ to be a way to delete a user and all their posts.
03:11 PM andypugh: But it seemed ot diappear
03:37 PM mozmck: Huh, odd. The best I've figured out is to go look at the users post subscriptions, and it will list all of their posts. I still have to go to them manually.
03:39 PM jepler: mozmck: in https://forum.linuxcnc.org/administrator/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=users there's a button in the top row called "trash messages". I think you can click the user's checkbox, click "trash messages".
03:40 PM mozmck: I tried that and thought it was working, but then it did not seem to be.
03:44 PM mozmck: I can try it again sometime though. It sure does seem like that should work.
03:49 PM jepler: okay
04:25 PM andypugh: Ah, right. I always forget the way to that interface.
