09:50 AM skunkworks: are arrays in comp 0 based or 1 based?
09:50 AM * skunkworks probably thinks that is a c thing.. Googles
09:53 AM cradek: yeah it's C so it's 0
06:41 PM skunkworks: thoughts? https://pastebin.com/XjUYbJDw
06:43 PM seb_kuzminsky: the whitespace is a war crime
06:45 PM seb_kuzminsky: if idepth == 200, it will write to avgarray[200] and [201], right? off the end of the array
06:45 PM seb_kuzminsky: maybe just [200]
06:45 PM seb_kuzminsky: still off the end
06:47 PM seb_kuzminsky: you can make the size of the avgarray and the limit on idepth a #define constant so they match
06:47 PM seb_kuzminsky: you should use consistent types for in/out/avgarray/avgtotal, probably hal_float_t
06:48 PM seb_kuzminsky: other than that it looks good to me
06:48 PM skunkworks: thanks!
06:56 PM skunkworks: I don't think so - I think all the counts end at 199.. (placeholder post adding and the for idepth is <200 (although yes confusing)
07:00 PM skunkworks: well - I did it so I wasn't confused.. go figure
07:29 PM skunkworks: long video of rough torch height control https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0pZqsdP0zA
07:30 PM skunkworks: (the indicator was 3 inches from the torch - so not a perfect representation)
07:31 PM skunkworks: and the camera man was drunk
08:07 PM skunkworks: Did I mention hal is pretty darn cool?
08:09 PM Tom_L: in what way this time?
08:22 PM skunkworks: hal only pid torch height control. kinda working
08:23 PM Tom_L: nice, you've been working on that for a while now..
08:24 PM Tom_L: got my mill somewhat working now
08:24 PM skunkworks: nice!
08:24 PM Tom_L: seen the videos?
08:24 PM skunkworks: I get sidetracked a lot
08:25 PM Tom_L: happens to the best of us
08:26 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRN00-0enYw
08:26 PM Tom_L: first program test run
08:26 PM Tom_L: air cut
08:26 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqHV0Or4Ad8
08:26 PM Tom_L: after editing the sherline config i used on it a bit
08:27 PM Tom_L: just a visual example of the hard work that goes on here
08:27 PM Tom_L: thanks to all of you ...
08:28 PM skunkworks: very nice!
08:28 PM skunkworks: are you happy with it?
08:28 PM Tom_L: so far very much so
08:28 PM Tom_L: i'm working on the column and spindle alignment now
08:29 PM Tom_L: not pushing the steppers at all yet
08:30 PM Tom_L: not really sure i need to
08:30 PM skunkworks: are you going to drill and tap holes in the table? or T-slots?
08:30 PM Tom_L: i'm thinking holes right now
08:30 PM Tom_L: and a sacrificial plate and or vise
08:30 PM skunkworks: did you see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOg5C_TusdM
08:31 PM Tom_L: yeah that's pretty cool stuff
08:35 PM skunkworks: dad is using his new old manual lathe lately.. He is so happy with it compared to the turn of the century lathe we used to have. (1900 not 2000)
08:35 PM Tom_L: hard to beat old iron if it's in good shape
08:36 PM skunkworks: he figures it is maybe 40's - but ball bearing and not babot...
08:37 PM Tom_L: i rebuilt an old car engine once that used babot bearings
08:38 PM skunkworks: it slowing down - oil the bearings quick!
08:39 PM Tom_L: does it have oil cups?
08:39 PM Tom_L: ahh you said it doesn't have them..
08:39 PM Tom_L: my craftsman (atlas) lathe is like that
08:44 PM seb_kuzminsky: skunkworks: oh yeah, you're right, no overflow
08:46 PM skunkworks: Tom_L, our new old lathe
08:47 PM skunkworks: seb_kuzminsky, ok - I am not going crazy - just a bad programmer :)
08:47 PM skunkworks: http://electronicsam.com/images/KandT/testing/nebel.jpg
08:47 PM skunkworks: (not our shop - it was the craigs list ad)
08:47 PM skunkworks: we don't have that much room around the machines
08:48 PM skunkworks: and that clean
08:48 PM Tom_L: similar vintage as my atlas only 4x bigger
08:49 PM skunkworks: he is making a cylinder for pressing out crawler track pins. He is very happy with the finish.
08:49 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Z_Axis_Pulley.jpg
08:50 PM Tom_L: you can see the oil cups
09:15 PM Tom_L: haven't seen andy lately
10:06 PM skunksleep: Tom_L: Andy has been traveling
10:07 PM skunksleep: I should try the qt5 stuff again now that I have it working with dxf2gcode
