08:14 AM stustev: I need to display a weight using load cells. Is there a component that will handle this? thanks
08:18 AM archivist: depends if a dc input or some data (serial)
08:19 AM stustev: the feedback seems to be from a wheatstone bridge
08:20 AM archivist: I currently use a fartuino and a cheap chinese board to read a bridge
08:21 AM archivist: then you can send the values in via serial etc
08:21 AM stustev: what is a fartuino?
08:21 AM archivist: arduino
08:21 AM stustev: heh - that is what I thought :)
08:22 AM stustev: are you able to share how it is done?
08:22 AM stustev: are you able to calibrate the scale?
08:26 AM archivist: yes I had calibration I was measuring a touch probe force and other playing earlier this year but never fully finished it
08:26 AM archivist: see bottom of page http://www.archivist.info/cnc/Arduino_Probe_Interface/
08:28 AM stustev: thanks - I will study it
08:28 AM archivist: some stuff may not have made it from the dev pc
08:30 AM stustev: Ok - I may have questions - let me look at it for a while
08:33 AM archivist: if you want better accuracy use a different bridge chip, the HX711 things seem to drift so need some averaging in code
03:30 PM skunkworks: jepler, your using bumblebee with proprietary nvidia driver?
03:33 PM jepler: skunkworks: yes
03:34 PM skunkworks: heh - so it does work
03:34 PM jepler: skunkworks: yes
03:34 PM jepler: skunkworks: on my laptop there is some problem with power management so I actually downgraded to 3.18(?) non-realtime before it would work
03:35 PM skunkworks: ah - ok. what is your laptop?
03:35 PM jepler: on my desktop, it is fine with the 4.9 preempt kernel *except* that if I have high CPU load when running a program under 'optirun' it fails to start
03:35 PM jepler: skunkworks: some lenovo 5 years old now
