01:14 PM IchGucksLive: hi is there a way to get a full install out of a run-in-place compile3
02:05 PM seb_kuzminsky: IchGucksLive: no, run-in-place and packaged installs are built differently, and some files have different contents
02:05 PM IchGucksLive: thanks
02:05 PM seb_kuzminsky: if you've got a git repo that you can build run-in-place in, you can rebuild it for packaging pretty easily
02:05 PM seb_kuzminsky: the source is exactly the same for both builds
02:06 PM IchGucksLive: i will check
02:06 PM seb_kuzminsky: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/code/building-linuxcnc.html#_building_debian_packages
02:06 PM IchGucksLive: do they also work on 16.04 64bit
02:07 PM seb_kuzminsky: we don't test that platform, so there may be some problems
02:07 PM seb_kuzminsky: but it's very similar to other platforms that we do test, so any problems that pop up might be easy(?) to fix
02:07 PM IchGucksLive: thats what im working thrue envirerment works
02:09 PM IchGucksLive: Thanks

07:46 PM skunkworks: how well does upgrading a system (say Jessie to stretch..)
07:46 PM jepler: skunkworks: looks promising!
07:47 PM jepler: skunkworks: I've updated several systems from jessie to stretch. each one ran into a weird problem that *I* was able to resolve, but which could have perplexed others
07:48 PM skunkworks: heh
07:49 PM skunkworks: involving what?
09:07 PM jepler: skunkworks: I don't remember specifically
