11:24 AM jepler: skunkworks_: boo hardware failure on my MPSM last night. The fitting with the blue plastic ring on the hotend has stopped retaining the bowden tube. I wonder if the hardware store has a replacement, or if I'll have to wait for parts from amazon
11:26 AM skunkworks_: jepler, I think my cousin says to replace it with a different one. Let me see if I can find it.
11:29 AM jepler: skunkworks_: ok
11:30 AM jepler: fwiw this is the amazon item I'd landed on: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019RQ5EYE/
11:33 AM jepler: hm I wonder if this is helpful http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=4315
11:33 AM jepler: (keep the quick release ring from moving while the bowden tube is flexing around)
11:34 AM skunkworks_: https://reprapchampion.com/products/pc4-01-pneumatic-straight-fitting-for-4mm-od-reprap-3d-printer-bowden-line-tube?variant=8081881475
11:35 AM skunkworks_: jepler, she says to first just shorten it and see if it will grab again
11:35 AM jepler: I did notice the tube itself was fairly worn at the bottom, but didn't figure it could be enough to explain why it wasn't staying grabbed
11:36 AM skunkworks_: jepler, also - you can make some clips to hold the ring up to apply more pressure to the fitting
11:36 AM jepler: yeah that's what's in the seemecnc link
11:36 AM jepler: I don't think this particular fitting will work without modifying the v1's heatsink
11:38 AM jepler: thanks for all the ideas though!
11:39 AM skunkworks_: she wasn't sure it would fit a v1 - forgot to tell you that
11:42 AM cradek: jepler: figured surplus center would be the local place to try, but I don't find anything like that
11:47 AM skunkworks_: jepler, this is what you need https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WE1A3D2/
11:48 AM skunkworks_: the v2 is a normal pipe fitting - like 1/8 ntp or so
11:49 AM jepler: skunkworks_: that sounds much nicer
11:49 AM jepler: skunkworks_: the v1 one uses a setscrew that mashes into the threads of the fitting
11:50 AM skunkworks_: yeck
11:52 AM skunkworks_: your supposed to join this facebook group ;)
11:52 AM skunkworks_: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1717306548519045/
11:52 AM jepler: I don't facebook
11:54 AM skunkworks_: I figured
02:54 PM cradek: seems like freebsd11 runs on the beagle black
02:58 PM cradek: huh, and 9 other arm boards
03:05 PM jepler: cradek: now do you want one?
03:06 PM cradek: welllll
03:07 PM cradek: I'd like to see it work, but don't know what I'd do with it
07:44 PM cradek: what
07:45 PM cradek: wfm...?
09:05 PM jepler: cradek: I can loan/give you a bbb if you feel like playing with it
09:07 PM jepler: skunkworks_: fingers crossed, trying ring-elevating clips on my bad bowden coupling
09:07 PM jepler: also a bit of masking tape on the end of the tube to increase its diameter slightly
09:07 PM jepler: I won't try any 12 hour prints this way that's for sure
10:09 PM Tom_L: is the wheezy ISO image here: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/getting-started/getting-linuxcnc.html
10:10 PM Tom_L: RTAI or Preempt ?
10:11 PM Tom_L: my 10.04 install lost it's GUI and i don't know how to get it back so i figure an update may be in order
10:12 PM jepler: pretty sure it's RTAI, I don't think we've ever made a PREEMPT iso image
10:21 PM Tom_L: mmm now to find a drive so i can keep the data...
