09:29 AM cradek: ooh that pull request looks useful
09:30 AM cradek: anyone here affected by that problem and can test?
10:04 AM seb_kuzminsky: i've not run into it, but i'm testing it in sim right now
10:06 AM seb_kuzminsky: sim/axis/lathe on current tip of master, the [-] and [+] buttons in the GUI work for X but not for Z
10:07 AM seb_kuzminsky: same with the +/- buttons on the keyboard
10:07 AM seb_kuzminsky: for Z i get IndexError: list index out of range
10:08 AM cradek: oh hey, trying sim was a good idea
10:08 AM cradek: sorry I'm new at software
10:11 AM seb_kuzminsky: and after phillc54's 3 commits i don't get the IndexError
10:11 AM seb_kuzminsky: so i think i see one of the three problems he's addressing
10:29 AM seb_kuzminsky: nope, i see all three
10:29 AM seb_kuzminsky: i think we should merge this PR
10:31 AM jepler: It doesn't look terrible
10:32 AM jepler: I'm sad to learn that all UIs have to handle two ways of specifying lathe configs, apparently, and I wish somebody had tuits to solve *THAT* problem but here we are
10:32 AM jepler: drive by reviewer, out
10:38 AM archivist: drive by bug report next door <wicki_> yes - and several versions of each way... 2.7.x, 2.8.x... btw. the check_config.tcl of 2.8.0_pre seems to have a bug near line 84
10:44 AM cradek: I don't even seem to have that file
10:45 AM cradek: is that the entire ... bug report?
10:45 AM archivist: yes
10:45 AM archivist: that guy with the odd xy we were talking to the other day
10:46 AM archivist: I now know why his rotary is X it is a ring engraver
11:40 AM cradek: ok I found a file with that name in master, but line 84 is a blank line
11:41 AM archivist: heh, been hard work today working him through one concept, one of hose that misses important detail :)
11:42 AM archivist: those
11:42 AM archivist: probably from an earlier version
11:43 AM cradek: if he's still having trouble, maybe point him to the bug tracker at github. it tries to talk you through how to make a good bug report [this is what I'm running, this is what I do, this is what I expect to see, this is what I get instead]
12:07 PM memfrob: Hello everyone, I'm testing out my new 3.10.105 (latest) and 3.16.43 (latest) RTAI kernel patches, just had a quick question. Does having FIFO/DMA support in the parallel port driver cause issues for anyone?
12:08 PM memfrob: CONFIG_PARPORT_PC_FIFO is the option, I think a few years ago having DMA enabled would cause glitches or hang ups in the parallel port driver but I'm not sure.
12:09 PM memfrob: The "IEEE 1284 transfer modes" looks interesting too as that covers EPP and ECP, I think someone on the mailing list recently had issues with those modes.
12:10 PM cradek: I don't know, but some of our devices certainly use the EPP protocol
12:10 PM memfrob: so in that case IEEE 1284 should be safe if not required to be enabled.
12:12 PM cradek: we definitely need EPP to work
12:12 PM memfrob: On it is!
