[09:52:07] <jepler> hm, "jekyll serve -w" doesn't correctly pick up changes to _config.yml or I'm doing something wrong
[09:59:13] <seb_kuzminsky> jepler: no, i think that's a limitation of it
[09:59:47] <seb_kuzminsky> which is lame
[10:00:58] <KGB-wlo> push to master branch: http://linuxcnc.org/
[10:02:03] <jepler> .. that was more of an ordeal than I expected it to be
[10:02:39] <jepler> I know that cradek holds the linuxcnc "organization" on github. I would like to see linuxcnc-mirror moved under the linuxcnc organization, and possibly renamed; and wlo should probably go there too
[10:02:56] <jepler> I know I've mentioned this in the past but never tried too hard to make anything actually happen
[10:03:11] <jepler> I am not proposing to move the "real hosting" of our git to github
[10:04:03] <jepler> anyway, how much official process should we do before making a change like that? Is it a thing that needs a monthly IRC meeting to ratify? Mailing list post? Friendly handshake on IRC?
[10:12:33] <cradek> I don't think we need any process
[10:14:23] <cradek> ... but I don't know how to do those things
[10:34:05] <seb_kuzminsky> jepler: i agree it would be good if we consolidated our github stuff under the linuxcnc org.
[10:34:54] <seb_kuzminsky> i think discussing it among the active developers and getting a rough consensus is enough process, i think that means here on irc and maybe on the emc-developers list
[10:41:15] <seb_kuzminsky> https://help.github.com/articles/transferring-a-repository/
[10:41:29] <seb_kuzminsky> cradek: can you invite me into the github linuxcnc organization?
[10:45:38] <cradek> You've invited Sebastian Kuzminsky to LinuxCNC! They'll be receiving an email shortly.
[11:08:14] <seb_kuzminsky> thanks
[12:20:02] <andypugh> That calendar fix seems odd to me. Why not choose the start of the Unix epock as the arbitrary anchor date?
[12:20:15] <andypugh> (err, epoch, of course)
[12:23:16] <jepler> because anyone who starts using a kernel with the patch between December 1, 2015 and November 30, 2016 will not have to change the RTC clock
[12:23:38] <jepler> otherwise, they would be 45 days off when they start using the patch in 2015/2016
[12:23:58] <jepler> at least I think that's a reason to make the epochs equal on 1/1/2016..
[12:24:58] <andypugh> Well there would need to be a fixed offset, and maybe that turns out to amount to absolutely the same thing.

[17:02:46] <skunkworks> zlog
[17:05:40] <skunkworks> kinda interesting... https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/mach1mach2cnc/conversations/messages/149671
[17:05:48] <skunkworks> art back into motion control?
[17:08:28] <skunkworks> conspiracy theorie... mach 4 taking too long so art decides to create something
[17:33:26] <micges> skunkworks: isn't art chief of mach 4 staff?
[17:34:47] <skunkworks> no - he retired
[17:34:52] <skunkworks> it is now brian something
[17:35:15] <skunkworks> baker iirc
[17:35:45] <micges> I see
[17:35:54] <micges> hmm, so many colours..
[17:37:45] <skunkworks> micges: did you get a chance to get back to the limited jerk branch?
[17:38:27] <micges> it's still stalled
[17:38:53] <micges> I've got few links to some other approach to make it work
[17:39:01] <skunkworks> rob got blending in uvw axis - now all that is left is abc.
[17:39:42] <micges> maybe second half of jan will be polite to give me chance to make some tests
[17:39:54] <skunkworks> 'all' ;) sounds like it is going to be a bit of work
[17:42:21] <micges> it's now ubercomplex compare to old tp
[19:41:04] <jepler> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5bTbVbe4e4 spacex launch in 13 minutes from now live stream
[19:41:42] <jepler> though right now it looks like a commercial
[19:53:00] <cradek> ooh
[19:53:23] <cradek> 1 minute
[20:04:17] <jepler> I think they landed it
[20:04:20] <cradek> holy fuck, it landed
[20:31:27] <seb_kuzminsky> yeah!!
[21:15:16] <seb_kuzminsky> https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CWy59kAUkAEvBLa.jpg:orig
[21:19:56] <cradek> unpossible
[21:20:32] <jepler> is that showing both the launch and landing in a composite photograph? or am I misunderstanding what I'm seeing?
[21:21:03] <cradek> I think that's what the real path looked like
[21:21:12] <cradek> this may be just a long exposure?
[21:23:30] <seb_kuzminsky> Long exposure of launch, re-entry, and landing burns: https://twitter.com/SpaceX/status/679122112196382720
[21:26:05] <jepler> either it's a composite or rocket exhaust is brighter than I think
[21:27:45] <jepler> the time from launch to stage 1's landing was something like 9 minutes, with the craft being out of the frame for most of that time, so my first intuition is that the constant 9 minutes of steady lights on the ground would outshine a few seconds of launching rocket, but it doesn't.
[21:28:25] <cradek> when the thing was out of view, I suppose they could have covered the lens
[21:28:44] <cradek> I've seen people do that (in the old days) when recording something like fireworks
[21:29:38] <jepler> I'm not suggesting it's deceptive, but I would enjoy knowing technically just what I'm seeing
[21:45:52] <jepler> wget http://www.linuxcnc.org/hardy/ubuntu-8.04-desktop-emc2-aj07-i386.iso

[21:46:32] <jepler> hmm we botched a symlink at some point
[21:46:58] <jepler> but I found a right URL
[21:49:00] <seb_kuzminsky> i probably borked it during the website overhaul
[21:49:44] <jepler> I think it's NBD
[21:50:10] <jepler> looks like most of the good stuff is in iso/ -- I'll turn on directory listings in there in a second if I can figure out how
[21:50:15] <jepler> some of those are dangling symlinks though
[21:50:24] <jepler> ubuntu-10.04-linuxcnc1-i386.iso: ERROR: cannot open `ubuntu-10.04-linuxcnc1-i386.iso' (Permission denied)

[21:50:38] <jepler> but in each case a slightly newer version is still there
[21:57:49] <KGB-linuxcnc> 03chris morley 052.7 2dcaff3 06linuxcnc 10lib/python/gladevcp/hal_dial.py gladevcp : fix hal_dial for wheezy * 14http://git.linuxcnc.org/?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commitdiff;h=2dcaff3

[22:06:45] <jepler> hm I am the one who broke keystick, back in 2009..
[22:06:51] * jepler slinks away ashamed
[22:14:08] <cradek> wow, if code can be utterly broken for 6 years it's pretty sure to be unneeded code
[22:35:25] <cradek> c=outb
[22:35:32] <cradek> haha oops
[22:35:36] <cradek> look at screen, then type
