[07:20:02] * jthornton tries to remember the make check links syntax that seb_kuzminsky told me about the other day
[07:31:09] <KGB-linuxcnc> 03John Thornton 052.7 43d51d0 06linuxcnc 10(11 files in 6 dirs) Docs: fix links in gcode.html * 14http://git.linuxcnc.org/?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commitdiff;h=43d51d0
[07:54:51] <jthornton> I just tried to build on Linux Mint and got this error: configure: error: in `/home/john/emc/src': configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables See `config.log' for more details
[07:54:57] <jthornton> where is config.log?
[07:55:50] <jthornton> ah I might have a hint what to do
[08:42:01] <jthornton> got it, yea LinuxCNC fully working on LinuxMint
[08:55:36] <skunkworks> cool!
[10:33:08] <jepler> what was the missing step?
[10:45:10] <jepler> https://edwardtufte.github.io/tufte-css/
[10:49:46] <archivist> some css cockups in my old browser
[11:38:55] <jthornton> I forgot to run dpkg-checkbuilddeps and install the build depends
[12:00:50] <seb_kuzminsky> thanks jthornton, that fixed the links
[12:01:23] <jthornton> yes, and I learned a bit about where to put anchors so now I have to check them all lol
[12:10:29] <KGB-linuxcnc> 03Sebastian Kuzminsky 052.6 927d4b0 06linuxcnc 10docs/src/Submakefile docs: verify the links in the gcode Quick Reference too * 14http://git.linuxcnc.org/?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commitdiff;h=927d4b0
[12:11:14] <jthornton> seb_kuzminsky: what was the make syntax to just check links?
[12:11:50] <KGB-linuxcnc> 03Sebastian Kuzminsky 052.7 ad8ddd2 06linuxcnc 10docs/src/Submakefile 10src/emc/usr_intf/halui.cc Merge remote-tracking branch 'origin/2.6' into 2.7 * 14http://git.linuxcnc.org/?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commitdiff;h=ad8ddd2
[12:12:21] <seb_kuzminsky> jthornton: make checkref
[12:12:41] <jthornton> thanks, I'll note that so I don't forget again
[12:12:58] <jthornton> that would speed up my work by a zillion :)
[12:19:25] <seb_kuzminsky> also, 'make docs' runs 'make checkref' at the end'
[12:21:18] <jthornton> thanks
[12:22:02] <jthornton> are you going to fix the Precise deb to install the docs?
[12:22:16] <seb_kuzminsky> jthornton: i didn't know it was broken
[12:22:47] <jthornton> the build recommends is set to false
[12:24:21] <seb_kuzminsky> oh, about the mint thing?
[12:24:24] <seb_kuzminsky> that's something different
[12:24:28] <jthornton> or is that a mint thing?
[12:24:57] <seb_kuzminsky> the linuxcnc.deb package says "Recommends: linuxcnc-doc", but the apt config on that system is set to not automatically install Recommended packages
[12:24:59] <jthornton> prob need to check Consider recommended packages as dependencies
[12:25:08] <seb_kuzminsky> nothing we can do about it in the deb
[12:25:13] <seb_kuzminsky> it's a system config thing
[12:25:22] <jthornton> got it
[12:25:49] <KGB-linuxcnc> 03Sebastian Kuzminsky 05master 4e018cc 06linuxcnc 10docs/src/Submakefile 10tests/halui/jogging/test-ui.py Merge remote-tracking branch 'origin/2.7' * 14http://git.linuxcnc.org/?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commitdiff;h=4e018cc
[12:26:06] <jthornton> I see a couple of things that need to be changed in the default package manager settings
[12:26:10] <jthornton> making notes
[12:26:13] <seb_kuzminsky> cool
[12:26:19] <jthornton> gotta run now
[12:26:22] <seb_kuzminsky> seeya!
[12:26:29] <seb_kuzminsky> thanks for fixing the docs again :-)
[13:44:23] <seb_kuzminsky> jthornton: might be interesting to add your notes here: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/getting-started/getting-linuxcnc.html#_alternate_install_methods
[13:44:44] <jthornton> I will add them for sure
[13:47:01] <jthornton> I'm going to install it on a second computer first and check my notes for accuracy
[14:00:08] <skunksleep> http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,31258.msg216944.html#msg216944
[14:19:38] <seb_kuzminsky> skunksleep: do you know what mach4 is doing with the GPU? just making pretty backplots like gremlin?
[14:20:03] <skunksleep> Yes
[14:20:20] <seb_kuzminsky> cool
[14:20:25] <seb_kuzminsky> that's a really useful feature
[14:21:37] <skunksleep> Sounds like it uses up a lot of resources. It seemed to run fine for me o. Some old hardware. Wasn't doing huge files though
[14:24:13] <skunksleep> Mach3 had a preview but a lot of the time when you would utilize it you would miss steps
[15:24:01] <seb_kuzminsky> oh god
[15:25:55] <seb_kuzminsky> i guess i'd rather have each and every step i asked for, rather than a backplot, if i had to choose
[15:29:13] <skunksleep> People turn it off.
[15:48:24] <seb_kuzminsky> sourceforge is down
[15:49:33] <seb_kuzminsky> i think that's my excuse to stop working on #449 and go swimming with the kids instead
[15:51:30] <skunkworks> sounds like a plan
[22:56:33] <KGB-linuxcnc> 03Dewey Garrett 05joints_axes9 2727667 06linuxcnc Merge 'origin/dgarr/ja9_configs' into joints_axes9 * 14http://git.linuxcnc.org/?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commitdiff;h=2727667
