[14:56:52] <cradek> my answer to JT-Shop makes me sad
[14:59:34] <skunkworks> why is that?
[15:00:07] <cradek> he's bitten by bugs that are fixed but unreleased
[15:00:07] <skunkworks> that 2.5.5 was never made?
[15:00:11] <cradek> yeah
[15:00:13] <skunkworks> ah
[15:00:17] <cradek> maybe I should still do it
[15:29:32] <JT-Shop> cradek, I just tried 2.6.7 and it ran about the same speed on nurbs
[15:29:58] <cradek> share your gcode?
[15:30:18] <cradek> the followed path was sure wrong in 2.5
[15:30:59] <cradek> if your font has lots of little curves, you might benefit a lot from 2.7, same old story as ever
[15:31:08] <JT-Shop> lol
[15:34:37] <JT-Shop> hmm, I thought I had 2.7 on this computer...
[15:37:42] <jthornton> down here I have 2.7 and it runs at speed :)
[15:37:50] <jthornton> good call on 2.7
[15:38:13] <cradek> well it was probably just short moves
[15:38:59] <jthornton> 755 lines of code to cut KEELING in a stencil font
[15:42:06] <cradek> JT-Shop: maybe the font sucks
[15:43:05] <JT-Shop> could be, but it runs good on 2.7 in the axis sim and not good in 2.6 axis sim
[15:43:47] <JT-Shop> it was really hard to find a stencil font that TTT liked and looked a bit better than standard stencils
[15:43:59] <cradek> yeah
[15:44:13] <cradek> I have some nice ones somewhere, but I can't find them on timeguy.com
[15:44:24] <JT-Shop> I now have a valid reason to upgrade the plasma to 2.7
[15:44:32] <cradek> yay!
[15:48:07] <cradek> I bet ttt is the only thing in the world that uses those gcodes
[16:35:49] <skunkworks> zlog
[17:14:06] <JT-Shop> cradek, if you do happen to run across the stencil fonts I'd love to see them
[17:34:31] <Tom_itx> JT-Shop lemme know how that upgrade goes
[17:34:45] <Tom_itx> and what os you upgrade with
[17:35:06] <Tom_itx> i'm still on 10.04 upgraded to 2.6.x
[17:35:12] <Tom_itx> considering 2.7 on that
[17:35:45] <jthornton> the upgrade took about a minute but now I need to update the 5i25 and 7i77 firmware
[17:36:17] <Tom_itx> i got 2 of those ASRock boards, one mini atx and one itx but i'm not sure yet if i'm gonna use them on the mill
[17:36:33] <jthornton> oh and yes it is 10.04
[17:36:38] <Tom_itx> ahh good
[17:37:50] <Tom_itx> i thought it was time to update my irc pc a bit
[17:39:32] <jthornton> my main windoze computer just crashed and won't boot up now
[17:39:46] <Tom_itx> not good
[17:39:51] <Tom_itx> what does it do?
[17:40:28] <jthornton> tries to boot up and start windoze but goes to a fix it popup
[17:40:39] <Tom_itx> this itx has been running 24/7 for several years now
[17:40:48] <Tom_itx> virus?
[17:41:12] <jthornton> I hope not
[17:41:28] <Tom_itx> what tools do you check with?
[17:41:32] <jthornton> it does have a history of crashing
[17:41:46] <jthornton> I'll look when I go back out to the shop
[17:42:07] <Tom_itx> you can run 'rkill
[17:42:17] <Tom_itx> that will stop any loaded services
[17:42:29] <Tom_itx> so you can get to a prompt
[17:42:49] <Tom_itx> then i've got a slew of tools to fix things
[17:57:44] <skunkworks> boot it from a livecd and check the memory and the hd smart errors
[18:05:04] <JT-Shop> skunkworks, for a windoze computer?
[18:07:10] <Tom_itx> JT-Shop, yes you could do that
[18:07:37] <Tom_itx> no different than running a knoppix cd
[19:14:38] <skunkworks> yes
[20:25:12] <cradek> JT-Shop: http://timeguy.com/cradek-files/emc/engraving-psfonts.tar.gz
[20:25:32] <cradek> JT-Shop: I think -fixed are the ones I adjusted
[20:29:39] <cradek> JT-Shop: AHA! http://timeguy.com/cradek-files/emc/linefonts.png
[20:30:11] <cradek> the filled were important before ttt could do that - not so important today
