[11:48:16] <skunkworks> if I have a python script which opens a camera windo - should I be able to embed that in a tab?
[11:48:20] <skunkworks> EMBED_TAB_NAME=camera
[11:49:02] <skunkworks> EMBED_TAB_COMMAND=halcmd loadusr -Wn capture -x {XID}
[11:49:10] <skunkworks> something like that?
[11:50:54] <cradek> if "capture" supports embedding into another window via -x, then that's the idea
[12:08:15] <skunkworks> hmm - I will have to check that... :)
[12:13:30] <skunkworks> http://www.tormach.com/pathpilot_tracking.html
[12:14:52] <seb_kuzminsky> wow, nice!
[12:26:50] <cradek> half of those are "units is hard", bleh
[12:37:45] <pcw_home> Yay 3.18.7-rt2 fixed my occasional video wedging on my home desktop
[12:38:20] <pcw_home> WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 632 at drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c:9916 intel_check_page_flip+0x72/0x9f [i915]()

[12:40:07] <pcw_home> They took the "kick intel I915 in the but when stuck" patch out thinking they had fixed all the interrupt issues but they had not caught them all
[12:49:05] <skunkworks> wow i915? how old is that system?
[12:49:45] <pcw_home> Gigabyte g41M
[12:51:35] <pcw_home> I think the i915 stuff is used with a lot of intel chipsets
[12:52:57] <pcw_home> http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3997#ov
[12:53:22] <skunkworks> ah
[12:53:56] <pcw_home> GMA4500 graphics whatever that means
[12:54:31] <skunkworks> I was just playing around trying to get wheezy working on an old celron laptop with 82845G which seem to use i915
[12:56:47] <pcw_home> G41 Chipset released Sept 2008 so ~6 years old
[12:57:48] <pcw_home> Troubles with wheezy on laptop?
[13:04:14] <skunkworks> just does not play well with the video. sounds like other have the same issue.
[13:04:28] <skunkworks> (no realtime - just for surfing)
[13:06:16] <pcw_home> funny the video should have issues, have you tried ubuntu?
[13:09:22] <skunkworks> no - I did try mint which is based on ubuntu with similar issues
[13:31:15] <pcw_home> I think there was a period where linux had many problem with laptops
[14:04:39] <skunkworks> jeeze why do I try..

[14:21:53] <PCW> Hanermo has no idea what he is talking about
[14:23:01] <Tom_itx> dammit! my ASRock is snowed in in memphis
[14:27:00] <PCW> what model did you get? (curious if it has PP issues)
[14:29:50] <Tom_itx> the micro atx one
[14:29:55] <Tom_itx> mini?
[14:30:19] <Tom_itx> i'll check it once it gets here
[14:30:31] <cradek> PCW: I bet a lot of people other than hanermo know that
[14:32:22] <Tom_itx> let's keep him outta the loop?
[14:38:23] <Tom_L> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157565
[14:38:29] <Tom_L> PCW, that's what i'm getting
[14:39:57] <PCW> That looks nice, lots of slots plus DB25 parallel
[14:50:45] <Tom_itx> i figured if the video etc ever went on it, i could put a card in the slot

[14:57:54] <Tom_itx> even though it doesn't fill it up
[14:58:42] <PCW> Tom_itx they should ( the spec says they should but not all BIOS writers have read the spec... )
[14:59:12] <PCW> Should work on modern MBs anyway
[14:59:21] <Tom_itx> i'll probably test it
[14:59:59] <Tom_itx> it's got the 1x slot for it but i'll try both

[16:42:34] <mozmck> PCW: have you seen http://www.myhdl.org/ ?
[16:46:56] <PCW> Yeah looks like veirlog but acts like VHDL
[16:47:04] <PCW> verilog
[17:00:24] <Tom_itx> not much difference between the two is there?
[17:00:27] <mozmck> says it's python - does verilog look like python?
[17:02:37] <Tom_itx> http://www.asic-world.com/verilog/veritut.html
[17:02:42] <Tom_itx> have a look..
[17:03:59] <PCW> verilog looks a bit like C VHDL looks a bit like ADA
[17:46:59] <skunkworks> interesting..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ON9m2xwWonM
[17:48:12] <seb_kuzminsky> hey, that's your machine
[17:56:35] <archivist> and rob-h next?
[17:57:20] <skunkworks> I think so
[18:02:16] <skunkworks> huh - I have a satellite pro here that runs rtai really well
[18:03:03] <CaptHindsight> why would you want a new logic compiler? Was this someones thesis?
[18:47:45] <zeeshan> skunkworks: what kind of taper is that?!
[18:47:49] <zeeshan> on your tool holders
[18:48:11] <skunkworks> no taper. stait shank K&T own design from the 60's
[18:49:15] <zeeshan> he does it clamp it down?
[18:49:18] <zeeshan> *how
[18:58:27] <skunkworks> the spindle has a huge collet in it that clamps the tool
[18:58:36] <zeeshan> ah
[18:58:41] <skunkworks> kinda like a huge tormach tooling system
[18:58:47] <zeeshan> does your table
[18:58:59] <zeeshan> reach say tangentially to a 1/2" end mill?
[18:59:06] <zeeshan> for some reason my machine in horizontal mode
[18:59:09] <zeeshan> is 3" away from the table
[18:59:17] <zeeshan> its like they expect me to use a massive spacer plate to hold stuff
[19:00:28] <skunkworks> the spindle / tool will reach the center of the table
[19:00:35] <zeeshan> ah
[19:00:43] <zeeshan> i love that machine
[19:00:46] <zeeshan> its monsterous.
[19:00:50] <skunkworks> we do too.. :)
