[12:44:43] <archivist> part one of tool database research, enter some data of tools in stock http://www.archivist.info/cnc/tooldatabase/
[12:54:33] <kwallace> Kind of off topic, but I have been recycling old circuit boards and other electronics to make room in the shop. One of the items I have is a large Xeon (3GHz 4 core) rack system (14 slots) with redundant everything. It looks like shipping this thing would cost as much as it is worth.
[12:55:27] <kwallace> Am I correct in my assessment? Should I scrap it, keep it?
[12:56:16] <kwallace> It sure makes a lot of noise.
[12:59:57] <pcw_home> Older servers seem to have very low resale value (probably because of noise and power consumption)
[13:03:04] <kwallace> It started out as a few $100K voicemail system for a university near us and was never used.
[13:05:28] <pcw_home> Thats nice...
[13:06:29] <kwallace> http://testlab.inin.com/FeatureListPage.aspx?ProductType=3&ProductIDs=122
[13:07:22] <kwallace> That's nice for what?
[13:11:20] <archivist> collecting
[13:11:27] <archivist> or a museum
[13:13:19] <archivist> I did survive on recycling a couple of years ago, 300+ kg of pcbs netted around 800 pounds cash
[13:14:38] <kwallace> Yikes, I have been driving 45 minutes one way to dump them for free.
[13:15:32] <archivist> you have to clean(separate all materials where possible) first though to get values like that
[13:17:47] <kwallace> Yeah, I had to unbox and unbag all of my boards.
[13:20:34] <archivist> I separated all the wire, aluminium, steel and pcbs, got good enough that was collecting from the scrap yard, separating and getting paid for taking it back :)

[18:28:01] <tjtr33> hello, is the iso csum listed on http://linuxcnc.org/docs/html/common/Getting_LinuxCNC.html up to date?
[18:49:41] <cradek> no, but the one here is: http://www.linuxcnc.org/index.php/english/download
[18:49:52] <cradek> it's a mistake to have it in several places :-/
[18:52:04] <cradek> also I thought the docs were updated to recommend using zsync
[18:53:02] <tjtr33> thx! my dload was NOT bad.
[18:53:21] <cradek> zsync gives you a good download every time - I recommend it
[18:53:30] <tjtr33> and i did read about using zsync on another page
[18:54:41] <tjtr33> thx again, cheers!
[21:04:22] <seb_kuzminsky> cradek: i haven't updated the 2.6 download docs, but i did recommend zsync for 2.7+
