[08:31:40] <jepler> cmorley: buildbot's failure is because a problem which has existed for a long time in linuxcnc became a fatal error. you could resolve the problem by rebasing new_pncconf onto the tip of the origin/2.6 branch, or by merging the origin/2.6 branch into the new_pncconf branch.
[08:34:57] <jepler> (or ditto but merging/rebasing onto master branch)
[08:38:38] <jepler> looks like rebasing would be a lot of work but merging has only conflicts in pncconf.py which you should be able to understand and resolve
[10:14:28] <seb_kuzminsky> jepler: my mendelmax homed for the first time lasts night
[10:14:52] <seb_kuzminsky> (driven by a 5i20 & rtai, so nothing new or exciting there)
[10:31:48] <jepler> seb_kuzminsky: whee

[10:58:32] <jepler> seb_kuzminsky: where, if anywhere, did the hm2-buildbot packages from jepler/proposed-master go?
[12:32:30] <cmorley> jepler: Thanks - I rebased on master -will see if it errors...
[12:32:58] <KGB-linuxcnc> 03Chris Morley 05new_pncconf 983e7d6 06linuxcnc 161 commits pushed, 10160 files changed, 032703(+), 044668(-)
[13:43:14] <jepler> cmorley: cool, sounds good! hopefully buildbot likes it too. (in case anyone likes to test with packages from buldbot)
[14:31:16] <micges-dev> jepler: mf supports 7i90 rs422 communication
[14:33:13] <micges-dev> jepler: only spi left, sadly I don't have any hardware to test your spi setup
[14:34:38] <seb_kuzminsky> jepler: deb http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/hm2 hm2-firmware jepler/proposed-master
[14:35:09] <seb_kuzminsky> i'm in the process of redoing how the hm2 deb scripts use git, it'll change for the better soon
[15:42:58] <jepler> seb_kuzminsky: thanks and thanks
[18:54:54] <pcw_home> Ethernet stepgen at 2400 IPM with DPLL cruise
[18:54:55] <pcw_home> http://imagebin.org/319065
[18:54:57] <pcw_home> Ethernet stepgen at 2400 IPM with DPLL accell (400 IPS^2)
[18:54:58] <pcw_home> http://imagebin.org/319066
[18:55:00] <pcw_home> Ethernet stepgen at 2400 IPM with no DPLL (note PIDerror scale)
[18:55:01] <pcw_home> http://imagebin.org/319067
[19:03:52] <jepler> pcw_home: a striking difference
[19:04:53] <pcw_home> residual error with DPLL during accel is due to jitter in velocity write times
[19:05:16] <pcw_home> (only read is re-timed, not write)
[19:06:24] <pcw_home> but I'm happy with it as is (and the added 32 bit latches are an expense)
[19:17:07] <jepler> more variability in write times than read times too
[20:27:57] <pcw_home> The Ethernet (and serial) cards have a cheap way to re-time the writes
[20:27:59] <pcw_home> (wait on timerN instruction) but the added driver complexity is probably not justified
[20:29:04] <pcw_home> wait on timerN was added in case the 2 packet mode is worth doing (not sure yet)
[21:06:54] <jepler> for the night mesaflash has bested me
[21:09:25] <pcw_home> uh-oh did it break something?
[21:13:49] <jepler> no, I just failed to make it talk to spi so far
[21:15:02] <jepler> no doubt I'm overlooking something, because it never even tries to open /dev/spidev
[21:26:53] <jepler> I saw an article about using an otherwise unused VGA/HDMI connector to attach i2c devices to a computer. Also makes me think somebody needs to offer some kind of cable that puts a replacement i2c device on the bus that can correct for a deficient monitor ddc.
[21:28:11] <jepler> not that this is so big a problem anymore
[21:44:39] <pcw_home> Does HDMI have DDC?
[21:46:10] <pcw_home> I thought some version of HDMI had built in 100BT Ethernet
[21:51:52] <jepler> I think I probably meant DVI .. and yeah, HDMI has ethernet somewere on there
[22:17:06] <pcw_home> I think I read about it (Ethernet on HDMI) a couple years ago
[22:17:08] <pcw_home> it uses a single pair for full duplex (using a hybrid like a phone line does)
[23:16:57] <zq> any ideas on how to get a hal pin to continuous jog without hacking motmod directly?
[23:21:30] <KGB-linuxcnc> 03Sebastian Kuzminsky 052.6 5662a79 06linuxcnc 10docs/src/config/ini_homing.txt docs: give units of ini vars in homing docs * 14http://git.linuxcnc.org/?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commitdiff;h=5662a79
[23:33:48] <tjtr33> jepler: i reverted master for usrmot, but applying patch fails. any ideas? http://pastebin.com/mE9Uqx8R
