[00:42:31] <KGB-linuxcnc> 03Sebastian Kuzminsky 05master 2ceb2e7 06linuxcnc Merge remote-tracking branch 'origin/2.6' * 14http://git.linuxcnc.org/?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commitdiff;h=2ceb2e7
[01:37:21] <memleak> ok this here is the only working repo atm of RTAI for linuxcnc: https://github.com/ShabbyX/RTAI/tree/linuxcnc-old
[01:38:33] <memleak> everything else is broken on all my systems here so far, including upstream vulcano and magma branches. scheduling problems, compilation errors, all sorts of stuff.
[07:14:37] <skunkworks__> mach 4 path following.. http://imagebin.org/308638 (video someone posted - I didn't actually run it)
[07:15:13] <skunkworks__> I think the new preview/path works better and people can see what path mach actually takes
[07:16:24] <skunkworks__> the TP must have been the 1% of code kept from the previous version
[07:49:56] <archivist> but...one thinks, if the tp/loop is in the external buffer box is what you see there a second hand guess?
[07:52:51] <skunkworks__> I think mach is calculating waypoints that are sent...
[07:52:58] <skunkworks__> I think
[07:55:00] <archivist> I think that too, so there will be additional error
[07:55:28] <skunkworks__> oh - sure.. I see what you are saying. It is assuming the hardware is actaully following said path
[07:55:34] <archivist> :)
[07:56:07] <archivist> assumptions, the downfall of many schemes
[07:59:39] <archivist> I think the users of step/dir servos fall into the same trap like that one on the mailing list found out when he measure ferror
[08:00:27] <skunkworks__> sure
[08:03:30] <archivist> I think we should have a clarification page somewhere show step/dir servo users
[08:06:19] <skunkworks__> or - it could just mean people really don't notice how bad their parts machine.. ;)
[08:07:27] <archivist> and that too :)
[09:08:01] <skunkworks__> pcw_home, is your sit working?
[09:08:15] <skunkworks__> wow
[09:08:32] <skunkworks__> pcw_home, is your store.mesanet.com operational?
[09:14:32] <pcw_home> is for me
[09:15:50] <skunkworks__> pcw_home, can I order from it?
[09:15:52] <pcw_home> my sit is working better than my stand
[09:16:08] <pcw_home> yes
[09:17:16] <skunkworks__> when I try to add to the cart - nothing gets added
[09:19:00] <skunkworks__> hmm - I just can't add the 5i25...
[09:19:37] <skunkworks__> oh - never mind. You have to select the profile..
[09:19:45] <skunkworks__> duh
[09:21:18] <pcw_home> Oh yeah that could be a little more informative (it has a tiny red asterisk)
[09:21:35] <skunkworks__> look - it does.. :)
[09:24:29] <skunkworks__> where do I get the coupon code? Can I find them in vouge?
[09:26:05] <pcw_home> Ha!
[09:26:10] <skunkworks__> :)
[09:29:19] <pcw_home> I like Steve Bs Leadshine specs (+- 1 count)
[09:31:42] <skunkworks__> pcw_home, smooth. Nice site/
[09:32:52] <pcw_home> just copypasta our old site to OpenCart
[09:35:15] <pcw_home> Oleg just added the manuals and support software to the store
[09:35:23] <skunkworks__> awesome
[09:40:24] <kwallace> In case anyone is interested: http://www.tormach.com/product_lathe.html
[09:42:59] <skunkworks__> kwallace, how is it going?
[09:43:01] <pcw_home> Wheres the Mach4 version?
[09:43:37] <skunkworks__> now now...
[09:45:18] <kwallace> The lathe is supposed to be done. I'm waiting for the feedback one usually gets with a new product.
[09:46:25] <skunkworks__> I haven't seen any new reviews on cnccookbook site.. (he was one of the beta testers)
[09:47:26] <cradek> 5C *or* 1.4" bore is pretty cool
[09:48:45] <skunkworks__> neat way to handle it while keeping the bore large
[09:51:13] <pcw_home> no manuals or anything terribly descriptive available yet
[09:52:06] <kwallace> Learning what features are fancy and which will actually get used is a challenge until more people actually use it.
[09:53:19] <pcw_home> yeah
[09:54:08] <malcom2073> holy crap, that lathe is.... not expensive at all
[09:54:59] <skunkworks__> umm that is the down payment...
[09:55:11] <malcom2073> Oh ahhaha
[09:55:13] <malcom2073> I missed that
[09:55:27] <kwallace> Oops, the manual doesn't seem to be on-line yet.
[13:15:36] <CaptHindsight> Price: $2,000.00, loading fee $199, truck freight $599 just kidding
[13:20:55] <CaptHindsight> that price is on par with similar lathes from China
[13:22:04] <pcw_home> $10,300 ?
[13:54:16] <skunkworks__> 1. No CV settings at this time. CV is now using a much more advanced logic than it did in Mach 3. For most cases, there is simply no need to tweak it. However, we may add a setting or two soon.
[13:54:52] <skunkworks__> http://imagebin.org/308638
[14:00:07] <cradek> that looks like the very old blending problem emc1 had
[14:06:56] <skunkworks__> yes - and mach3
[14:08:06] <skunkworks__> I said earlier - They made the toolpath preview/path better - so I bet people are noticing these things..
[14:08:25] <cradek> seeing what's going on is so important for finding and fixing bugs
[14:09:04] <skunkworks__> cradek, did you look at torture? it's the weekend isn't it? ;)
[14:09:43] <cradek> it's not even 2pm. jeez.
[14:10:02] <skunkworks__> :)
[14:10:08] <pcw_home> its the preekend
[14:10:10] <skunkworks__> I have been up way too early...
[14:10:46] <skunkworks__> pcw_home, did you get my package sent? I ordered it a few hours ago...
[14:10:57] <skunkworks__> jeeze - I have to keep on these people!
[14:11:16] <archivist> impatient kidz
[14:11:19] <skunkworks__> :)
[14:11:36] <skunkworks__> Most would call it annoying...
[15:10:41] <memleak> speaking of emc1, why isnt that on git?
[15:12:33] <memleak> im a bit interested now to take a quick peek at it to see what it was like 10+/- years ago
[15:13:32] <memleak> it was 2.4 when i first looked into it i think
[15:24:34] <cradek> eh there are a few imports about
[15:24:40] <cradek> http://media.unpythonic.net/git/?p=emc.git;a=summary
[15:24:45] <cradek> I'm sure there are others
[15:25:30] <memleak> so much more basic and straight forward!
[15:26:32] <memleak> i like the old directory structure better :)
[15:26:50] <memleak> (a lot better)
[16:28:36] <CaptHindsight> 14.04 finally installed on the e350m1
[16:31:46] <CaptHindsight> graphics run slower than with 100% software rendering
[22:08:25] <cradek> heh we never removed pluto_servo so I can still run my sherline with 2.6
[22:11:52] <skunkworks_> heh - neat. I still use the pluto - recently it was to test a linear encoder to see if it was working.
[22:12:30] <skunkworks_> (figured out the head was loose causing 'backlash' in the system
[23:53:51] <tjtr33> maybe useful for hal diagrams, Ganv , a Gtk toolkit for connected boxes
