[14:33:40] <skunkworks> wow - I don't understand any of that.
[14:41:53] <psha> cradek: great :]

[18:25:47] <seb_kuzminsky> When git-flick-tree exports an archive, the user should fail a few bases and/or run git-bite-stash --climb-head instead, and <remoteref> is cherry-picked to specify the origin of some subtrees next to the area.
[18:25:51] <seb_kuzminsky> gold
[18:51:35] <cradek> I approve of this kind of user-interface commentary
[21:36:29] <cradek> cmorley: how are the fixes for 2.5.4 coming?
[21:45:40] <memleak> Hello everyone! After extensive testing (a few weeks) on "real" hardware (parallel port steppers) it has come to my attention that PREEMPT_RT is still not ready for production use so i will be returning back to RTAI development. unexpected real-time delays and unexplained issues are occurring.
[21:46:28] <memleak> because of this, i was wondering if i made a gentoo linuxcnc live cd that anyone could pop into their machine and download the required XML files to /lib/firmware if anyone here would be interested in testing.
[21:47:46] <memleak> i have talked about the linuxcnc gentoo livecd for awhile and i will be finishing it up soon but mainly i will be testing simulator / not-motor connected scenarios.
[21:48:25] <memleak> does anyone here have a secondary system to tinker with and hook a few motors up to the gentoo live cd?
[21:49:17] <memleak> i can always get simulator working just fine but it's when i connect motors i run into issues but i personally do not always have access to such servos / steppers.
[21:51:11] <memleak> the installer would take some time to write up, and at this rate i think it would be best to make sure it works with motors first before writing an installer, unless of course someone here believes running a machine off a live cd is a terrible idea due to reduced I/O speed
[21:56:07] <memleak> the only fear is to write an installer for a live cd if once it's installed, it wouldn't work on real, non-sim hardware. i think it would speed up the development process a lot of we could get some testers and im hoping that someone here was able to control a motor over a mesa FPGA card using the livecd without installation?

[22:20:14] <MrHindsight> I don't think that EBo is ever in here

[22:22:49] <skunkworks> memleak: I could test some hardware
[22:26:22] <memleak> perfect thanks!
[22:38:50] <skunkworks> memleak: where is the livecd? :?
[22:41:52] <memleak> its not out yet, im trying to re-figure out my RTAI gentoo system i made several months ago..
[22:43:40] <skunkworks> heh
[22:43:50] <skunkworks> no rush.
[22:44:17] <memleak> quite the magic system.
[22:45:35] <mozmck> I should be able to test with a parport and steppers.
[22:46:26] <memleak> without an install to hard drive?
[22:49:36] <MrHindsight> a live cd just sets up the file system in RAM, people will just have to modify the configs to test on real hardware
[22:50:52] <MrHindsight> if he makes a Live CD maybe he should have some standard configs
[22:52:01] <MrHindsight> or since this is currently just for testing you could send him the configs you want and they could just be included
[22:54:24] <mozmck> I would probably try and put it on a thumb drive, but you can make configs, you just lose them when you power down.
[22:55:11] <mozmck> I've never used Gentoo though... Debian and Ubuntu mostly
[22:57:13] <Tom_itx> are there specific tests you want run?
[22:57:51] <Tom_itx> i could try it on 7i43/47 stepper setup
[23:03:41] <MrHindsight> he just needs to see what happens on other systems
[23:05:12] <MrHindsight> he ran the simulations for weeks without issues and then when with drivers and motors errors came up
[23:05:25] <MrHindsight> joint following and RT errors
[23:06:41] <MrHindsight> so we're not sure what the actual difference is between the simulations and when software stepping on an LPT
[23:07:58] <MrHindsight> we also has USB cameras running
[23:09:15] <MrHindsight> we even had a few RT errors when the motors were stopped
