[10:50:03] <micges> anyone tested artek branch with s curve acceleration?
[11:34:51] <micges> (I mean lately)
[12:46:03] <kwallace> Hello. I'm working on an engraving utility for my UI. So, far I have some entry boxes that feed TrueType Tracer. One issue that bothered me was the scale entry. I thought I wanted an entry that had a closer connection with the resulting text size rather than guessing at a value and checking it in the preview screen, then repeating until I got something close enough to what I wanted.
[12:46:22] <kwallace> Has some done enough engraving to have an opinion on what entries would be most convenient for a single line engraving utility? I am assming anything beyond a simple single line job would warrant using a CAM program.
[12:46:46] <kwallace> oops, has someone
[12:57:19] <kwallace> I'm also looking at engrave-lines http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Simple_LinuxCNC_G-Code_Generators#Multi_line_Text_Engraving_Software as a model for a back end instead of TTT.

[16:12:30] <KGB-linuxcnc> 03gmoccapy 052.6 6648df3 06linuxcnc Merge branch '2.6' of ssh://norbert@git.linuxcnc.org/git/linuxcnc.git into 2.6 * 14http://git.linuxcnc.org/?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commitdiff;h=6648df3
[16:58:25] <cradek> I think that was a merge of master into 2.6, which is wrong
[17:03:22] <cradek> seb_kuzminsky: can you help me figure out what to do?
[17:03:25] <cradek> jepler: or you?
[17:09:37] <skunkworks> the bat signal goes up!
[17:10:28] <cradek> I think we need to push force 2.6 back to f74c5d34
[17:11:44] <cradek> jepler answered my text and is afk
[17:11:54] <cradek> I might have to (shiver) trust my own judgment
[17:12:27] <skunkworks> heh - I trust you!
[17:18:27] <KGB-linuxcnc> 03Chris Radek 052.6 f74c5d3 06linuxcnc fast forward * 14http://git.linuxcnc.org/?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commitdiff;h=f74c5d3
[17:27:13] <linuxcnc-build> build #154 of 4017.deb-wheezy-armhf is complete: Failure [4failed shell_3] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/4017.deb-wheezy-armhf/builds/154 blamelist: gmoccapy <nieson@web.de>
[17:31:30] <cradek> fixed, and explanation sent to -devel

[18:44:50] <skunkworks> wow - replaced my ancient wrt54g router (with a less ancient wrt54gl) and boy - thing are snappier
[18:47:01] <skunkworks> it started rebooting randomly
[18:47:36] <Tom_itx> skunkworks, i got tired of off the shelf routers and went with one of these fairly recently: http://www.ubnt.com/edgemax
[18:48:05] <Tom_itx> and one of their wifi antenna
[18:48:17] <skunkworks> neat - have to look
[18:48:36] <Tom_itx> very configurable but not consumer friendly
[18:48:49] <Tom_itx> you need to know a bit about routers etc
[18:49:03] <Tom_itx> there are quite a few examples out there though
[18:49:28] <skunkworks> I had gotten a ton of wrt54g's from rummage sales..
[18:50:26] <Tom_itx> i'm getting quite a pile of em myself
[18:50:36] <Tom_itx> hopefully this will do for quite a while
[18:50:56] <Tom_itx> you can configure it any way you want
[18:51:14] <andypugh> I was using one for a long time with the Tomato firmware and it worked well, but my cable supplier gave me a one-unit option that works at 120mbit and so I retired the ERT
[18:51:53] <Tom_itx> i think i've heard of the firmware but don't know about it
[18:52:31] <andypugh> I needed it to bridge (WDS?) to an Apple Airport in the garage.
[18:52:33] <Tom_itx> i've done 2 firmware updates to this and each one the GUI keeps getting better
[18:52:58] <Tom_itx> it also has a cmd line for configs or just use a txt editor and upload it if you are 'savvy' with it
[18:53:29] <Tom_itx> i tried their WIFI first and was quite happy with it so i tried one of the routers
[18:55:30] <andypugh> I just tried speedtest.net and got 106Mbps. I don’t think that the WRTs can do that>
[18:55:32] <andypugh> ?
[18:55:58] <Tom_itx> i'm not paying for that bandwidth so i dunno
[18:56:04] <Tom_itx> i get around 25 or so
[18:56:29] <Tom_itx> the edgemax is Gbps
[18:56:35] <Tom_itx> and their new ones say 2Gpbs
[18:58:35] <Tom_itx> here's a couple sample configs for it: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/lanwan/lanwan-howto/32014-how-to-configure-your-ubiquiti-edgerouter-lite
[19:01:36] <Tom_itx> andypugh what sort of connection do you have/
[19:01:37] <Tom_itx> ?
[19:02:48] <andypugh> Tom_itx: Cable: http://store.virginmedia.com/broadband/compare-broadband/index.html#bbonly
[19:03:32] <Tom_itx> i think i'm on the midrange bandwith cable
[19:07:17] <Tom_itx> Ubiquiti's got a new 8 port router (2G) but i'm not sure why you'd need 8
[19:07:41] <Tom_itx> unless you didn't have a swithc
[19:07:44] <Tom_itx> switch*
[19:11:58] <linuxcnc-build> build #155 of 4017.deb-wheezy-armhf is complete: Failure [4failed shell_3] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/4017.deb-wheezy-armhf/builds/155 blamelist: dummy, Michael Haberler <git@mah.priv.at>, Chris Radek <chris@timeguy.com>, Chris Morley <chrisinnanaimo@hotmail.com>, gmoccapy <nieson@web.de>, Norbert Schechner

[19:41:46] <jepler> cradek: thank you for taking charge of that.
[19:46:18] <cradek> no problem
[19:49:39] <cradek> I wonder what trouble, if any, a rollback causes
[20:00:51] <jepler> cradek: for people who have pulled in the meantime, they need to take care next time they pull
[20:01:02] <jepler> if they have local committed changes, they need to rebase them
[20:01:15] <jepler> if they do not, they need to reset back to upstream
[20:02:13] <jepler> similar to what is described in the git-rebase manual page under "recovering from upstream rebsae"
[20:04:00] <cradek> that would be smart to point people to, after doing a reset
[20:04:03] <cradek> I'll try to remember it
