10:16 AM pinder[m]: qt is not so hard
10:16 AM pinder[m]: But how to connect buttons to back end
10:17 AM pinder[m]: hazzy: how you make new popup?
10:21 AM hazzy-m: pinder: the pop-up is based on a MkTransparentWidget, so start with that as the main form in QtDesigner
10:22 AM hazzy-m: Then add widgets and lay it out how you like
10:24 AM hazzy-m: Once done add that UI file as a dialog in the yaml file
10:24 AM hazzy-m: https://github.com/KurtJacobson/monokrom-vcp/blob/master/monokrom/plasma/config.yml#L53
10:27 AM pinder[m]: Okay
10:28 AM pinder[m]: we have to make multiple .ui files
10:28 AM pinder[m]: like in html webpages? and link them?
12:00 PM hazzy-m: Yes, exactly!
01:28 PM TurBoss: Hello
02:37 PM JT-Shop: hi
02:46 PM hazzy-m: TurBoss: hello
02:48 PM TurBoss: o/
04:18 PM Joco[m]: JT-Cave: that 7i85S just turned up at my door - nice packaging and kudos to USPS. THANKS!
04:24 PM TurBoss: cool!
04:25 PM TurBoss: Joco: did you saw the vid I linked the other day about a surface grinder and linuxcnc?
04:25 PM TurBoss: hello!
04:25 PM TurBoss: I allways forgot the order
04:25 PM Joco[m]: oh - no - completely missed that. Been very distracted with work at the moment.
04:25 PM TurBoss: I'll search
04:26 PM TurBoss: oh you actually can
04:26 PM TurBoss: if you click on the bell on top right
04:27 PM Joco[m]: i found it
04:27 PM Joco[m]: wow - I WANT lol
04:31 PM Joco[m]: looks like he's doing all 3 axis. Not 100% sure I would be that brave on mine. but X and Z should be totally doable. Would love to see the gcode scripts that are being run.
04:34 PM TurBoss: he doesn't tell much more
04:41 PM Joco[m]: is this a video from some forum thread?
04:41 PM Joco[m]: feels like it
04:41 PM TurBoss: duno just found on the tube
04:43 PM Joco[m]: have posted a comment asking. fingers cross I get a response.
04:43 PM TurBoss: great!!
04:43 PM TurBoss: could you link plz?¿
04:47 PM Joco[m]: to the vid or the forum, if there is one
04:47 PM TurBoss: the yt
04:48 PM Joco[m]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFXdgVcO7bk
04:49 PM TurBoss: Thans Joco
06:20 PM JT-Cave: tomorrow morning I wake up a year older lol
06:29 PM Joco[m]: it happens. :-)
06:36 PM roguish[m]: JT-Cave: HAPPY BIRTHDAY...........
06:40 PM hazzy-m: JT-Cave: happy birthday JT!
06:40 PM roguish[m]: hazzy: BUDDY... ok, so you just bought a new house?
06:41 PM hazzy-m: roguish: yes I did!
06:41 PM roguish[m]: when's the house warming party????
06:41 PM roguish[m]: bbq and beers
06:42 PM roguish[m]: loud sourhern rock and roll
06:42 PM hazzy-m: It comes right after moving the machines!
06:43 PM roguish[m]: anyway, that's pretty cool,. congrats
06:43 PM roguish[m]: room for the Bugeye ??
06:44 PM hazzy-m: Tracy Lawrence, Arron Tippin and Allan Jackson!
06:44 PM hazzy-m: It's actually really close to Aaron tippins parents house
06:44 PM roguish[m]: allman brother
06:44 PM roguish[m]: credence.....
06:44 PM hazzy-m: Yes! It has an attached two car garage, and a separate two car garage, which I'll eventually expand to the shop
06:45 PM roguish[m]: oh, they'r from here.
06:46 PM TurBoss: JT-Cave: Felicidades!
06:46 PM roguish[m]: Wet Willie, Charlie Daniels,
06:47 PM TurBoss: <hazzy-m "It comes right after moving the "> or before
06:47 PM TurBoss: lol
06:47 PM roguish[m]: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker....
06:47 PM TurBoss: :O
06:48 PM TurBoss: oh thoose are places?
06:49 PM hazzy-m: roguish: yes, in fact one of my coworkers cut Allan Jackson's grass as a kid, said he was a really nice guy
06:50 PM hazzy-m: TurBoss: before, during and after!
06:50 PM roguish[m]: well, I remember when southern rock was tops....... me and JT......(he's a bit older....but not too much.)
06:52 PM hazzy-m: Not to brag, but I do think some of the greatest music comes from the south. I guess the Irish originally
06:57 PM hazzy-m: <TurBoss "oh thoose are places?"> they are musicians / bands!
06:58 PM TurBoss: oh
08:49 PM pinder[m]: hazzy: Congrats! brother for your house.
08:49 PM pinder[m]: JT-Cave Happy birthday!
08:49 PM hazzy-m: pinder: thank you!
08:49 PM pinder[m]: I will try if i can find that on some russian forums TurBoss
08:55 PM pinder[m]: https://www.cnc-club.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=163&t=11116
08:55 PM pinder[m]: i just found that surface grinder is using non-mesa board. Its called PinCET. Use chrome translate. Its pretty interesting
08:58 PM pinder[m]: they have made their own ethernet and pci controllers.
08:58 PM * pinder[m] uploaded an image: eth_brd.JPG < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/gyNZmSjHQltTCMsXOMPrNqCA/eth_brd.JPG >
08:59 PM pinder[m]: and its from 2007 😕
09:00 PM pinder[m]: no
09:00 PM pinder[m]: its from 2017
09:10 PM Joco[m]: interesting. I'm actually more interested in how its all setup and talking to lcnc. along with what gocde he is running. I have some ideas and wanted to see what someone else had done as well. Especially how he's doing the X table moves.
09:11 PM Joco[m]: From one his other videos looking into the cabinet it looks like there are some switches flicking the direction of the X
09:11 PM pinder[m]: actually that is a PinCET board
09:11 PM pinder[m]: I also saw that video
09:13 PM Joco[m]: yeah the boards are interesting but at the end of the day they all do about the same job.
09:26 PM pinder[m]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XifysOSieiI
09:26 PM pinder[m]: look this person is also using linuxnc
09:26 PM pinder[m]: disguised as proreitory
09:26 PM pinder[m]: but setup is clean and good
09:27 PM pinder[m]: I love these russian guys 😀
09:28 PM Joco[m]: there is some clever stuff being done
09:28 PM TurBoss: Joco: maybe do al in hal? with eoffsets¿
09:28 PM TurBoss: xD
09:29 PM pinder[m]: https://github.com/UnfinishedBusiness/Xmotion
09:29 PM pinder[m]: This is the UI
09:29 PM pinder[m]: In that videos
09:29 PM pinder[m]: open source
09:29 PM pinder[m]: pretty awesome
09:30 PM pinder[m]: rodw-au now know why russian people seem frustrated on linuxcnc forums
09:30 PM TurBoss: you can set the scale to the size of the tablo and set a bit 1 or 0
09:31 PM Joco[m]: TurBoss: eoffssets would be a good way to adjust the machinw while a progs is running. having the table traversing on X and Z then use the wheel to adjust the Y down in 0.001mm increments.
09:31 PM TurBoss: yes you can turn that on off with a toggle
09:32 PM pinder[m]: okay
09:32 PM TurBoss: heDjRC6J+20bcqcWz5UQubDMvO7U4OnXDkcDBVRqn0U=
09:32 PM TurBoss: mec
09:32 PM pinder[m]: I got some idea for Suface grinder
09:32 PM pinder[m]: i wanna know
09:32 PM TurBoss: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/man/man9/toggle.9.html
09:33 PM pinder[m]: if you want to know
09:33 PM TurBoss: it should enable and the table estart movin
09:33 PM TurBoss: * it should enable and the table estart movin g
09:33 PM Joco[m]: alwyas open to ideas pinder
09:34 PM pinder[m]: Best would be to drive by gcode
09:34 PM pinder[m]: and writing a prost processor
09:34 PM pinder[m]: post-processor
09:35 PM pinder[m]: But
09:35 PM pinder[m]: we can also make manual interface for creating gcode inside the GUI
09:35 PM pinder[m]: like
09:35 PM Joco[m]: yup - with you on both fronts.
09:36 PM Joco[m]: was roughly where my head has been heading
09:36 PM pinder[m]: Conversational in plasmac
09:37 PM TurBoss: plasmabasic
09:37 PM TurBoss: lol
09:38 PM Joco[m]: this video has a really nice demo of a semi auto CNC Surface Grinder controller. Makes perfect sense to me and is kind of the style I would go for mimicing in lcnc.
09:38 PM Joco[m]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eFu1Bwl324&feature=emb_logo
09:38 PM pinder[m]: yes
09:39 PM pinder[m]: semi-automatic is the way to go
09:39 PM pinder[m]: use some arduinos
09:39 PM pinder[m]: i would be pretty eaSy
09:40 PM pinder[m]: Surface grinder dont need pretty fancy GUI 😀
09:40 PM pinder[m]: If you will start a thread
09:40 PM pinder[m]: I will help you with the code
09:41 PM Joco[m]: yes, and I had been toying with the idea of arduino control
09:41 PM Joco[m]: I've coded ardunio a a good amount. Very comfortable with C
09:41 PM pinder[m]: then
09:42 PM pinder[m]: Wait
09:42 PM pinder[m]: I have a pretty good example
09:42 PM pinder[m]: how a semi automatic machine should be
09:42 PM Joco[m]: nice - never reinvent the wheel :-)
09:43 PM pinder[m]: https://youtu.be/1rEC3S5HFY8
09:43 PM pinder[m]: This is a lathe
09:44 PM pinder[m]: But see the cleaver design
09:44 PM Joco[m]: back in a bit - at work and getting sucked into meeting
09:44 PM pinder[m]: yeag
09:45 PM pinder[m]: A while ago I needed a 2 axis controller
09:45 PM pinder[m]: very basic
09:46 PM pinder[m]: I found acontroller on cnc-club.ru
09:46 PM pinder[m]: arduino micro with a lcd and sd card
09:46 PM pinder[m]: just that
09:47 PM pinder[m]: they modified grbl for laser controller and merged a sd card
09:47 PM pinder[m]: Its been working nice as a 2D cutting machine since 2017
09:50 PM pinder[m]: Its been working nice as a 2D mig welding machine since 2017
09:59 PM Joco[m]: of course I do have a spare mesa card and a spare Elo touch screen.
10:00 PM Joco[m]: Add to that a pendant with a wheel and you can create a lot of the functions wanted with very little extra wiring and a nice roomy touch screen.
10:00 PM Joco[m]: * Add to that a pendant with a wheel and you can create a lot of the functions wanted with very little extra wiring and a nice roomy touch screen UI. Functional not pretty.
10:27 PM Joco[m]: heck on that card I could use the high speed encoder for a feedback loop on Y (vertical) axis for accurate control on that. Get a 0.5um scale and you can be pretty rock solid on 1um resolution. Or a 1um scale and be comfortable at 2um accuracy, so a 10th for the imperial folk.
