02:33 AM hilo90mhz[m]1: Joco: Yeah! its a game changer the spring steel + PEI bed... I do production printing and you just bend the parts off.
04:01 AM Joco[m]: hilo90mhz: do you heat these beds ?
04:01 AM hilo90mhz[m]1: yeah I heat to 40C for PLA and 80C for PETG
04:01 AM hilo90mhz[m]1: or 60C I think for PETG
04:03 AM Joco[m]: cool
04:49 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:01 AM hazzy-m: Morning
05:02 AM JT-Cave: I solved my hex issue by not using hex lol
05:24 AM hazzy-m: Sweet! Lol
05:34 AM JT-Cave: however xxcoder showed me how to use bit shift just now and that seems to work
05:46 AM Joco[m]: hazzy: see my comments re she fault earlier in chat.
05:46 AM Joco[m]: * hazzy: see my comments re seg fault earlier in chat.
05:48 AM * hazzy-m is eating a socially distanced cup of yogurt, after having to interact with three people to get it out of the refrigerator at the hotel. #facepalm
05:49 AM Joco[m]: ROFL
05:50 AM Joco[m]: right. Sleeps. Later.
05:52 AM JT-Cave: night
05:52 AM hazzy-m: Joco: I added the start stop methods in an attempt to fix the seg fault, but I'm might have made it worse...
05:53 AM hazzy-m: Based on your Analysis maybe a solution would be keeping a reference to the old document around for a bit
11:48 AM TurBoss: Hello!
01:24 PM hazzy-m: TurBoss: hey
01:24 PM TurBoss: o/
01:34 PM hilo90mhz[m]1: morning
02:03 PM JT-Shop: yo
02:29 PM Joco[m]: <hazzy-m "Joco: I added the start stop met"> Interesting. Im not getting a seg fault when I take the start/stop sequence out. If I have it in I seg fault. For me its the cause. I am not able to get a seg fault on my linux mint 19.3 dev machine with those methods commented out.
03:56 PM roguish[m]: JT-Shop: check it out......... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-53846442
03:57 PM Andy is now known as Guest28261
04:24 PM Joco[m]: lol - cose the world revolves around chickens :)
04:39 PM hilo90mhz[m]1: lol!
04:41 PM Lcvette: ubuntu paste
06:01 PM JT-Cave: Lcvette, I'm stumped, my current draw after everyone goes to sleep is 0.02A so that tells me nothing is wrong but twice I've had a dead battery and the battery tests good... any ideas
06:02 PM Lcvette: leaving keys near the car?
06:02 PM Lcvette: if so they wake the system up sometimes
06:02 PM Lcvette: store keys away from vehicle out of range
06:03 PM JT-Cave: no, the keys and fobs are in my bedroom or kitchen
06:03 PM Lcvette: also how is the battery health?
06:03 PM Lcvette: how old
06:03 PM JT-Cave: the auto parts store says it's good and it's 13 months old
06:03 PM Lcvette: and last is alternator
06:04 PM Lcvette: do you have anything wired in anywhere maybe? phone chargers etc
06:04 PM Lcvette: but if you did a draw test that would have shown i suppose
06:04 PM JT-Cave: stock except for the Borla exhaust
06:04 PM JT-Cave: yea
06:04 PM Lcvette: whats the voltage while running?
06:04 PM Lcvette: getting 14v?
06:05 PM JT-Cave: someone said if you don't put it in reverse when you park... but that's bunk
06:05 PM Lcvette: alternator may be on the way out
06:05 PM JT-Cave: I'll have to check that
06:05 PM Lcvette: if your draw is within spec then i would say the battery is not charging while running and you are running it down between charges as it isn't recharging on its own
06:06 PM Lcvette: or you have a cell going bad
06:06 PM Lcvette: in the battery maybe the partstore test isn't catching it
06:07 PM JT-Cave: that's plausible as it's a high quality WalMart battery lol
06:07 PM Lcvette: to ammend the previous statement, not charging enough
06:08 PM JT-Cave: I can fully charge it with the battery tender and not drive it and when I go to take a drive it won't start
06:08 PM JT-Cave: so that's kinda pointing to the battery as the draw is within reason
06:08 PM Lcvette: i do not like batery tenders
06:08 PM Lcvette: try charging with a real charger
06:09 PM Lcvette: hit with 12A for about an hour then switch to 2amps for 24 hours
06:09 PM Lcvette: thats about what a battery thats drained to non start condition really needs to be back up to proper voltage
06:09 PM JT-Cave: I have an old Sears charger with a dual amp switch
06:10 PM Lcvette: if it has a 12a and 2a setting should be fine
06:10 PM Lcvette: also check yuour connections
06:10 PM Lcvette: make sure they are clean and tight
06:10 PM JT-Cave: they are super clean and very tight
06:10 PM Lcvette: if your draw test is accurate there is no reason for the battery to be discharging so quickly
06:11 PM Lcvette: i would suspect bad battery given that information
06:11 PM JT-Cave: Fluke meter
06:11 PM Lcvette: or the battery tender charge perhaps
06:11 PM JT-Cave: I've used my big battery tender(the one for my equipment) and the small one
06:12 PM Lcvette: test with the sears charger if it happens again and the draw remains at 0.02a thats a bad battery internally discharging
06:12 PM JT-Cave: it should not drain down in months, my truck rusty sits for months at a time
06:13 PM Lcvette: my truck doesn't drain either, but my bmw's all get about 5-6 weeks before they will need a charge to start
06:13 PM Lcvette: of sitting that is
06:14 PM JT-Cave: I need to do the math on the 0.02A vs the battery capacity
06:14 PM JT-Cave: I agree the battery could be internally discharging
06:15 PM JT-Cave: do you use AGM batteries?
06:16 PM Lcvette: i typically use mid level batteries from auto parts stores
06:16 PM Lcvette: the "silver" grade
06:16 PM Lcvette: golds are just to expensive
06:17 PM Lcvette: bronzxe tend to always be made to poor specs
06:17 PM Lcvette: the silvers usually last me about 5-8 years without issue here in the south east
06:17 PM JT-Cave: I'll do some testing and if it still discharges get a new battery
06:17 PM Lcvette: same battery as in rusty?
06:18 PM Lcvette: swap them out
06:18 PM JT-Cave: BTW, I'm liking the ECB pads and rotors and I only have a few miles
06:18 PM Lcvette: see if the issue follows the bvgattery
06:18 PM Lcvette: yeah ebc makes a nice quality product
06:18 PM JT-Cave: no, the Corvette is type 86 and Rusty is a side post
06:19 PM JT-Cave: I think the Corvette is the only type 86 battery I have
06:20 PM JT-Cave: https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-Maxx-Lead-Acid-Automotive-Battery-Group-Size-86-12-Volt-650-CCA/28275662

06:20 PM JT-Cave: that's the battery that's in the Corvette
06:20 PM Lcvette: looks liek all they have in type 86 is the gold for $159
06:21 PM JT-Cave: no advance auto here
06:22 PM Lcvette: the one you linked said it does not fit the corvette
06:22 PM Lcvette: shows it taking a side post
06:22 PM Lcvette: c4 corvette take side post
06:22 PM Lcvette: autozone?
06:22 PM Lcvette: oriellys?
06:23 PM JT-Cave: yea both of them
06:23 PM JT-Cave: mine is top post
06:23 PM JT-Cave: 2004 they changed from side to top
06:23 PM Lcvette: ah
06:23 PM Lcvette: what year is yours?
06:23 PM JT-Cave: 2004
06:26 PM Lcvette: oriellys has 3 year warranty
06:26 PM Lcvette: sucks you don't have advance auito, they do no questions asked 3 year replacement
06:27 PM JT-Cave: wow
06:28 PM JT-Cave: ok good chatting with you, I have a few things to test... chow time here time to get my rabbit suit out
06:28 PM Lcvette: enjoy

07:01 PM Joco[m]: Santa came early
07:02 PM Joco[m]: These things are hard to find and expensive.
07:56 PM hazzy-m: Joco: nice! Time to start scraping.
07:57 PM Joco[m]: yup. These are the 25mm size. Got 2 of them. One for iron and one to try mild steel scraping.
07:57 PM Joco[m]: Now to make a scraper
07:59 PM * Joco[m] posted a file: screenshot.jpeg (51KiB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/lctotkbEBEtCapNzLuRUKizk/screenshot.jpeg >
08:06 PM hazzy-m: Making slow progress here. These guys swore up and down their site power was 480v (which was suspicious since Canada is 600v usually) But they seemed competent so I trusted them and sent a 480v transformer. Well, their site power IS 600v. And it's hard to find a 600v to 400v 3phase trans rated for 75amps...
08:06 PM hazzy-m: Joco: are you going to modify a file?
08:07 PM hazzy-m: I've brased carbide to an old file to make a crude but workable scraper
08:07 PM Joco[m]: nah - going to build custom using 4mm flat bar. I might only 6mm but can thin it down on the big mill.
08:09 PM hazzy-m: That will be much nicer. I started removing the teeth from the file to make it more comfortable, but I was time consuming

08:10 PM Joco[m]: I'll grab a wooden file handle from local hardware store
08:10 PM Joco[m]: I can add a pad to the end of it later.
08:10 PM Joco[m]: Or make something longer using some bigger wooden dowel
08:10 PM Joco[m]: again later
08:12 PM Joco[m]: I also need to consider a long scraper for pull scraping. Something that will rest on my shoulder as the pivot point.
08:12 PM Joco[m]: sooo much to learn. :D
08:16 PM Joco[m]: hazzy: hope you solve the 600 to 480 challenge.
08:17 PM Joco[m]: Also - did you actually get seg faults without those start/stop methods? If so what OS version were you doing that on
08:17 PM Joco[m]: ?
08:19 PM Joco[m]: all the NZ 3 phase is 400-420V. Only 600V stuff I have seen is motors used in mining. Realy BIG stuff.
08:48 PM Joco[m]: A couple of first scraping projects. I have some 70mm CI round on order that I can mill the base shape of these out of.

08:51 PM Joco[m]: these would be aboiut 12" (300mm) long. Or there aboutrs.
08:52 PM hazzy-m: Joco: yes I was getting seg faults on mint 19.3 Trica before adding those methods
08:52 PM Joco[m]: interesting. As I am on mint 19.3 and no seg faults when I remove the methods
08:53 PM Joco[m]: I am on RIP install
08:53 PM Joco[m]: might be a little behind on the linuxcnc code base
08:54 PM hazzy-m: Yes, all our machines run on 400-420v, but the US standard is 480v and Canadian standard is 600v, so we have to use a step down trans
08:55 PM hazzy-m: Shouldn't have anything to do with LinuxCNC, but definitely could be dependent on Qt version
08:55 PM Joco[m]: remind me how to see the QT version?
09:08 PM hazzy-m: qtpyvcp --info
09:09 PM * Joco[m] sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/SJyLRhJXFDahsWPIUWFljmpx/message.txt >
09:12 PM hazzy-m: Ok, I'm on 5.7.something
09:13 PM Joco[m]: that could be the issue then.
09:13 PM Joco[m]: Cose I'm not not breaking it unless I have those methods active
