01:56 PM Joco[m]: JT-Cave: sorry missed this as went to bed. At the moment not great. Virus outbreak again Auckland. A new strain and they dont know how it got into country. So Auckland has been put into level 3 lock down for 2 weeks and the rest of the country has gone to level 2. Fortunately I dont live in Auckland.

03:58 PM Joco[m]: But on a more fun note. Going to get X axis linear scale setup today and plumbed into the second mpg input on 7i76 under mode 2. Then will tune that motors PID and try a 25mm ID circular pocket test cut. That should be telling on how well the PIDs are keeping the position under control.

06:35 PM Joco[m]: We never left but all active cases had been people returning home from offshore. It seems to be a specific cluster. But where it came from is a concern. Given it is a generically different strain to what we had previously.

08:01 PM Joco[m]: In the meantime I’m playing with closed looper stepper system using glass scales for the feedback. Performance on Y had been very promising. Sorting out X today.

09:35 PM Joco[m]: hazzy: no issue. Normal PID tuning to a gain that oscillates then set P at 50% of that value. Set dead and to 1.5 times the movement value of a single count.
09:36 PM Joco[m]: If I use I or D then get some small twitching. .
09:37 PM Joco[m]: But tests on Y with only a P value and deadband is rock steady and within 0.02mm of target value.
