01:16 AM Joco[m]: Second test cut with a 56mm target and I am measuring within 0.02mm
01:20 AM Joco[m]: Next I'll try and get the X axis scale mounted up properly and tests run with X and Y operating together.
09:05 AM Not-c0dc: [02probe_basic] 07windhooked starred 03probe_basic - 13https://git.io/JJHyA
11:41 AM JT-Cave: TurBoss, removed the level shifter from the Rpi to DotStar and now it works...
12:14 PM TurBoss: wow cool
12:26 PM JT-Shop: yea at least I can focus on programming the code now, I'll get the level shifting chip to try it as well
12:45 PM JT-Shop: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1787
01:42 PM roguish[m]: have you guys ever seen this? it's pretty cool. https://ncviewer.com/
01:55 PM Joco[m]: roguish: looks interesting. Not seen not before.
02:39 PM TurBoss: just saw the other day on a shop
02:39 PM TurBoss: nice tool
02:46 PM Joco[m]: Question on cnc electronics enclosure. Is it better to have the lcnc computer all built into to Electronics enclosure with the motor drivers etc etc. Or have it seperate? Im debating the “single box to hold it all” model vs the “computer separate and connected by a cable” model with myself. Views welcome.
02:47 PM CaptHindsight: depends on the location and size
02:48 PM TurBoss: my vote for separe
02:49 PM CaptHindsight: https://imgur.com/xomcQTc this holds PC motherboard, display, keyboard, power supplies and drives
02:49 PM TurBoss: thats a nice option
02:49 PM CaptHindsight: i also use 2 small PC cases at times
02:50 PM CaptHindsight: one for the PC and Mesa cards and the other for stepper drives and power supply
02:51 PM CaptHindsight: I use small stack-able enclosures https://imgur.com/hQsE2h7 lower right hand corner
02:51 PM Joco[m]: Im going to custom make a case from either 2 or 3mm Aluminum. So i can design it however i like.

02:53 PM CaptHindsight: Joco[m]: the first post is tig welded SS, likely 15 years ago
02:53 PM CaptHindsight: from the 3:4 LCD display
02:55 PM CaptHindsight: for a big machine https://imgur.com/CvsLnS6 you need more enclosure, this one has ~3ft by 4ft cabinet

02:59 PM Joco[m]: If you can see the end of the stand that has the black computer case. Im planning to build that entire end face into an Electronics case.
02:59 PM Joco[m]: Eventually i will redo the top into a full enclosure.
03:02 PM Joco[m]: Current computer is. Dell optiplex 3020. The small form factor version .
03:04 PM Joco[m]: I also have a spare motherboard with 4gb and i3. Uspace latency test has it at sub 20,000
03:05 PM Joco[m]: Lol. Choices.
03:05 PM Joco[m]: Maybe separate PC is better. Just for ease of maintenance and swapping stuff.
03:05 PM CaptHindsight: whatever works for you
03:05 PM CaptHindsight: and your budget, materials already on hand, time to fab etc etc :)
03:16 PM Joco[m]: CaptHindsight: yup. It’s hobby and like welding/fab so even making the case is all part of the fun.
03:20 PM Joco[m]: * CaptHindsight: yup. It’s hobby and I like welding/fab so even making the case is all part of the fun.
05:36 PM roguish[m]: oh joy. just hit 101 deg.............. a bit toasty. going to be hotter the next few days.....
07:09 PM CaptHindsight: we had a hot early summer in the midwest US, now it's ~80F (26C) and dry until Sept
07:41 PM Joco[m]: yikes. I start to feel cooked at anything over 24-25C
07:51 PM CaptHindsight: i keep the shop ~17C
07:51 PM CaptHindsight: i prefer <20C for indoor and outdoors
07:52 PM CaptHindsight: but 26C is better than 35-40C any day :)
08:53 PM hazzy-m: it's been 95F (35C) and humid here, and will be for a few more months
08:54 PM * hazzy-m just got back from Iowa, where it was very nice weather, 70F in the day, and 60s at night
