01:53 AM Joco[m]: ah - my bad. New it was sinking something
02:00 AM Joco[m]: pcw_home: that updated firmware for the 7i76 worked a treat. Got both X and Y ballscrews mapped using the 5um scales
05:09 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:40 AM JT-Cave: TurBoss, found a pack of 2n3904 transistors now to get some mosfets
10:55 AM CaptHindsight: 2x Matsuura 500's $500 or best ea https://www.ebay.com/itm/1981-MATSUURA-MC-500V-CNC-with-YASNAC-3000G-control/283531831618
12:34 PM Hendrik[m]3: Hej guys, a friend asked me this and i didn't know an answer to it. What would be the simpliest way to add buttons to probe_basic?
12:39 PM Hendrik[m]3: basically u have to edit the probe_basic.ui and probe_basic.py file, or?
02:16 PM Joco[m]: Hendrik: edit the ui. Depending on what you want the button to do will depend on if you need to do anything with the python. Under qtpyvcp you can do a lot of interaction with LinuxCNC and GUI behaviour goodness with no python code.
08:36 PM hands[m]: Fiddling with things I found that I can make the sensor work if I add a pullup resistor to all of my inputs (yah :-/).... Worked out a clever way to wire that into the box, so building a prototyping breadboard (one of the soldering kind) to add the field voltage and a resistor to all 24 inputs.
08:41 PM Joco[m]: is it NPN?
08:42 PM Joco[m]: or that type of behaviour? I had to do that model for all my endstops/homing sensors as they are NPN style
08:42 PM Joco[m]: @hands
08:56 PM hands[m]: All of the inputs coming off of the BoB switch to common (NPN type behavior).. the 7i76e sinks to detect so the 7i76e expects positive voltage from its inputs.. giving it ground is undetectable.. .
08:56 PM hands[m]: I'll also have to wire all my logic as not's because pull-up resistors means the signal is "hot" when the input is off.. but that is trivial... lots of soldering tomorrow.
10:13 PM TurBoss: <Hendrik[m]3 "Hej guys, a friend asked me this"> hello, try using
10:13 PM * TurBoss sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/tnWdTKbLSgWGidmYxoUKyciO >
10:14 PM TurBoss: hello o/
10:14 PM Joco[m]: hands: yup - exactly same as I did for my NPN proximity sensors.
10:14 PM Joco[m]: Pretty easy once you get into the groove
10:19 PM TurBoss: Joco: how is the surface grinder goin?
10:21 PM * TurBoss posted a file: cool.sh (0KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/CatNfsOmzYyoJYaNmDYigmUL >
10:21 PM TurBoss: that script fetch random theme from modarchive and plays it
10:28 PM Joco[m]: TurBoss: got all cleaned up. Made a new poly-v for motor. Seems to run well. Need to deal with wheel balance I think. Just doing a warmup run at the moment to see how things sound/feel when spindle and motor are up to temp.
10:29 PM Joco[m]: Just today got the VFD circuitry I want worked out.
10:30 PM TurBoss: do you have a wheel balancer?
10:30 PM * TurBoss uploaded an image: image.png (85KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/AkTiqmdXnVGbBnqKyuobOslT >
10:31 PM Joco[m]: nope - didn't come with one. I am going to make a dynamic balancing ring and see how that goes. If no good will have to sort out a static balancing rig
10:31 PM TurBoss: cool!
10:33 PM Joco[m]: following this example: http://nwnative.us/Grant/shop%20articles/autobalancer/
10:33 PM Joco[m]: And here is a commercial offering to balancing truck wheels using the same rules of pysics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ullnFQD4F1I
10:37 PM TurBoss: brutal
10:38 PM TurBoss: aparenly my linuxcnc SDD died
10:38 PM TurBoss: 😕
10:51 PM Joco[m]: oh no!
10:56 PM TurBoss: ok just boot
10:57 PM Joco[m]: I try to to have a clonezilla image of key disks.
