07:08 AM TurBoss: good morning
07:09 AM JT-Cave: morning
08:21 AM JT-Shop: TurBoss, did you build the driver circuit for the bird lighting project?
08:21 AM TurBoss: yes
08:22 AM TurBoss: 12v led strips
08:22 AM TurBoss: many of them
08:22 AM JT-Shop: cool, got any info on what you did?
08:23 AM TurBoss: i did on a 3.3 teensy board
08:23 AM TurBoss: 3.3v
08:24 AM TurBoss: https://github.com/TurBoss/birdKeeper
08:24 AM TurBoss: is arduino code
08:26 AM TurBoss: they just fade the leds on the morning and at the night
08:28 AM JT-Shop: cool, I have a bunch of arduino boards
08:29 AM JT-Shop: thanks
09:46 AM TurBoss: does anyone have experience with 6i25 and BOB
09:47 AM TurBoss: i foubd that there are 3 or more bit files

09:54 AM TurBoss: "pcw_home" (https://matrix.to/#/@freenode_pcw_home:matrix.org) hello , im reading the pin descriptions for BOB bitfiles but looks like only 3 input pins can be used
09:55 AM TurBoss: 5i25 5abobx2
09:55 AM TurBoss: thanks
10:14 AM TurBoss: can prob_rfx2
10:43 AM pcw_home: for the BOB in the picture you want 5ABOB firmware
10:44 AM pcw_home: Like most parallel port BOBs, the 5ABOB has 5 inputs and 12 outputs
10:50 AM TurBoss: okay i was confused with seco dary function
10:50 AM TurBoss: thanks !!
11:11 AM JT-Cave: TurBoss, did you drive the mosfet directly from the teensy board?
11:13 AM TurBoss: yes with a resistor
11:19 AM JT-Cave: did you use one mosfet for all the lights or one for each light
11:22 AM TurBoss: only one
11:22 AM TurBoss: mosfet
11:22 AM JT-Cave: thanks
11:22 AM JT-Cave: still trying to put this together in my head
11:36 AM JT-Cave: lunch minute is up time to get back to welding

01:15 PM Lcvette: nice
01:33 PM JT-Shop: can't wait to put them on but gotta finish the damn fence first
02:03 PM pcw_home: TurBoss: secondary input functions do not affect the use of GPIO inputs
02:03 PM TurBoss: cool
02:04 PM TurBoss: Thank you so much! i keep in mind that I have to set W1 W2 to DEFAULT
02:04 PM TurBoss: :)
02:12 PM TurBoss: JT: now I remember that I had to us a transistor to drive the mosfet
02:13 PM TurBoss: https://www.digikey.ca/en/maker/blogs/2019/how-to-control-a-dc-fan-using-the-raspberry-pi
02:13 PM TurBoss: just fund this great docs
02:35 PM JT-Shop: thanks
02:45 PM roguish[m]: JT-Shop: hey, recall that Vette I showed?
02:45 PM roguish[m]: I got a ride yesterday. sooooo nice. a real rumbler.
02:45 PM roguish[m]: freaking side pipes are loud.
02:46 PM roguish[m]: 327 motor
02:46 PM roguish[m]: 4 speed stick.
03:06 PM JT-Shop: nice
03:07 PM JT-Shop: mine is 350 with 350hp 6 speed stick and just loud enough with the Borla exhaust
03:07 PM JT-Shop: did he burn rubber?
03:08 PM TurBoss: 🏎️

04:13 PM roguish[m]: JT-Shop: naw. not too fast. the car was literally on blocks for close to 40 years, so it needs a little TLC. just got the wheels balanced. the carb secondaries seem to be acting up. but still just awsome. It's original stuff. hasn't been messed with at all. only 50k miles...for a '67.
05:07 PM hands[m]: Any Mesa ninjas on here... I have a 7i76e question...
05:07 PM hands[m]: (regarding digital IO)
05:31 PM pcw_home: I can probably help
05:49 PM hazzy-m: hands: you got THE mesa ninja
06:27 PM hands[m]: Ha, awesome... So I think I have my answer and I has a sad about it..
06:27 PM hands[m]: The machine I am retrofitting had a BoB that took all the IO and converted all the inputs to a consistant (if on, connect to ground)... And for the output "if High turn the relay on"
06:27 PM hands[m]: Sadly, it looks like the 7i76e won't read ground coming from a digital pin, its looking for a voltage source... Is that a correct interpretation? is there some way to adjust that behavior in firmware?
06:28 PM hands[m]: (to be clear, when a digital pin is "on" there is 12v between the TB1 vin field pins and the digital pin... when the digital pin is "off" there is no voltage/its not connected..)
06:29 PM hands[m]: I just wired up a physical switch to similate the BoB's behavior and the results did not go as promised.... so unless there is a miricle I'm going to have to rip out that proprietary bob and work out IO wiring from scratch (big ugh)
06:37 PM Joco[m]: hands: I believe there are two versions of the 7i77e. A sourcing and sinking version for inputs. If your inputs register off voltage in then you have the sinking version). Don’t think you can change the behaviour via firmware.

06:39 PM hands[m]: I think you are right.. I'll have to decide between return, restocking fee, reorder, and wait.. or ripping all the old electronics and rebuilding from scratch.. (unless there is a source/sink flip somewhere on this proprietary bob.. )
06:40 PM Joco[m]: I think I have seen converter panels on aliepexress (and do probably eBay) that will flick that behaviour. They tend to be optical isolated as well.
06:41 PM Joco[m]: also good if one side is operating off different voltage to what you want to run the Mesa field voltage at.
07:00 PM Joco[m]: Maybe something like this? NZ$ 11.61 44% Off | 4-Channel Level Conversion NPN to PNP Signal Conversion Level Converter Wide Voltage 10-28V
07:00 PM Joco[m]: https://a.aliexpress.com/_dUp2SWY
10:15 PM pcw_home: The 7I76/7I77 D versions only apply to the outputs, the inputs are always sinking and require a voltage source (or a pullup resistor) to work with sinking outputs
