12:41 PM Joco[m]: Morning. JT whats the pneumatics for?
01:41 PM JT-Cave: 1800's spoke lathe that makes hammer handles

02:30 PM Joco[m]: đź‘Ť
02:32 PM roguish[m]: JT-Cave: lucky they're pneumatics, not hydraulics..................
02:34 PM Joco[m]: Easier to deal with I guess. I have some light weight pneumatics to do for mill. Just automation of mist coolant.
02:43 PM Joco[m]: I’m debating which card to get to add encoder capability to 7i76 or 7i76e. Toss up between the 7i85S or 7i89. I like the idea of the i89 as it keeps options open later to convert to servos or add encoders to steppers.
02:43 PM Joco[m]: This is to allow use of the glass scales.
02:44 PM Joco[m]: * This is to allow use of the glass scales in the first instance.
02:51 PM Joco[m]: Tomorrow’s target for auction. Going to inspect today. Hope its in ok condition.

03:10 PM JT-Shop: nice little surface grinder, I have a Brown and Sharpe 612
03:18 PM Joco[m]: From my reading they come in two variants. Direct drive and belt drive. Hope is the belt version. Seems to be better regarded.
03:19 PM Joco[m]: I understand it is possible to do a belt conversion.
03:19 PM Joco[m]: * I understand it is possible to do a belt conversion. If that is desired.
03:21 PM Joco[m]: JT-Shop: the B&S 612 is a nice size. I was looking at its bigger brother at one point. Just too large though.
03:25 PM JT-Shop: the spindle is direct drive IIRC
03:26 PM JT-Shop: yea the 612 is pretty big, anything bigger would be way to big for my shop
03:31 PM Joco[m]: Oops. Got my SGs mixed up. It was a Jones and Shipman 1400.
03:31 PM Joco[m]: http://lathes.co.uk/jones-shipman-surface-grinders/

03:48 PM JT-Shop: that's the model I have
03:49 PM JT-Shop: just looked in vents and it's a belt drive spindle
03:58 PM Joco[m]: oh that's nice. Sooo much good old iron in the States.
04:03 PM Joco[m]: hmmm ... trying to figure out how to get the free xilinx license
04:03 PM Joco[m]: it is NOT obviou
04:03 PM Joco[m]: * it is NOT obvious
05:05 PM Joco[m]: * it is NOT obvious <-- solved.
05:30 PM Joco[m]: wow - letting it work its way through the linuxcnc hostmod firmware build. Taking a while
05:47 PM TurBoss: hellio
05:52 PM Joco[m]: Hi ya.
