09:52 AM Lcvette: lol
10:01 AM Lcvette: hazzy: did you ever find a way to make entried have a commanded format in the vcplineedit?
10:01 AM Lcvette: is there some way to do it in the properties editor by adding soemthing?

01:25 PM TurBoss: hello
01:27 PM Joco[m]: Morning all.
01:27 PM TurBoss: good morning
01:28 PM Joco[m]: Easing into Sunday here 6:18am.
02:46 PM Joco[m]: Question: is it possible to determine when lcnc has made a call to a sub in an external file?
04:06 PM hazzy-m: Joco: yes, call level should work
04:06 PM hazzy-m: From status
04:06 PM hazzy-m: And we might even be able to get the file name
04:06 PM hazzy-m: Will have to check
04:08 PM Lcvette: hazzy: how do i get this into a vcpLineEdit?
04:08 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-06-27_16-58-27.png (76KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/fLyjIsyKVfFtycAmyUQmpUVc >
04:08 PM Lcvette: this is a vcpsettingslineedit and it has the text format option at the bottom
04:09 PM Lcvette: hazzy: ^^^
04:10 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-06-27_17-01-21.png (17KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/XcoAeFTiIFssqzNvaUcwRJhy >
04:11 PM Lcvette: turboss?
04:11 PM Lcvette: anyone?
04:11 PM Lcvette: beuller
04:11 PM Lcvette: ?
04:32 PM Joco[m]: <hazzy-m "And we might even be able to get"> getting the file name will be key. I want to be able to stop the crazy jumping about in the code editor when an external sub is called.
04:33 PM Joco[m]: however when a sub in the loaded programme is called you want to continue to track the executed line
04:52 PM hazzy-m: Joco: that should be easy
04:53 PM hazzy-m: So right now the current line is probably the line of the file it’s running, so it will show the wrong line in the editor she running a sub
05:03 PM Lcvette: why does lcvette get ignored /o\
05:04 PM Joco[m]: <hazzy-m "So right now the current line is"> correct - that is what is happening and why I am keen to be able to determine when it is executing a sub in another file.
05:04 PM Joco[m]: Call level alone will not get the right result.
05:05 PM Joco[m]: <Lcvette "why does lcvette get ignored /o"> we not ignoring you - thought your question was answered
05:05 PM * Joco[m] gives Lcvette cake ... everyone loves cafe
05:05 PM * Joco[m] * gives Lcvette cake ... everyone loves cake
05:06 PM Lcvette: lcvette likes cake!
05:06 PM Joco[m]: well it's virtual cake. But I would if I was local. And coffee - good coffee.
05:07 PM Joco[m]: It's sunday and I'm feeling generous
05:15 PM Lcvette: lol
05:15 PM Lcvette: i'll take it
05:15 PM Lcvette: hazzy..i posted pics and everything!!
05:16 PM Lcvette: :D
05:16 PM Joco[m]: Lcvette: is this the vcplineedit question>/
05:16 PM Joco[m]: ?
05:16 PM Lcvette: yes
05:16 PM Lcvette: been asking for a while now
05:16 PM Joco[m]: hazzy answered I thought
05:16 PM Lcvette: but i found this example had the format in the designer properties
05:16 PM Lcvette: im sure if its there it should be pretty easy to implement in the vcplineedit
05:16 PM Joco[m]: yeah per his pic?
05:17 PM Lcvette: per what pic?
05:17 PM Lcvette: those are my pics
05:17 PM Joco[m]: oh I see
05:17 PM Lcvette: of a different box
05:17 PM Lcvette: but if its there it should be doable for the vcplineedit also
05:17 PM Lcvette: that was from a vcpsettinglineedit
05:17 PM Joco[m]: lol - you had his nic in there. Was looking like he had responded on my screen
05:18 PM Joco[m]: in theory should be doable
05:19 PM Lcvette: lol
05:19 PM Lcvette: i figured thats what you were looking at
05:22 PM Joco[m]: right off to experiment some more with feeds and speeds and work holding.
05:56 PM * Lcvette uploaded a video: belt drive vibration test.mp4 (16598KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/mDipYHSmHoxaZyaopeojobwH >
05:56 PM Lcvette: Joco: some vid of the new belt drive with 1 piece spindle drive tube
05:59 PM Joco[m]: Lcvette: super impressive. You SHOULD be happy. :-)
05:59 PM Lcvette: thats a customer not me
05:59 PM Lcvette: lol
05:59 PM Lcvette: :D
06:43 PM Joco[m]: Still a reason to be happy.
06:44 PM Joco[m]: Especially if he’s giving you credit for parts supplied.
07:16 PM Lcvette: oh 100%
07:16 PM Lcvette: :D
07:16 PM Lcvette: im thrilled
07:21 PM Lcvette: tormach vfd
07:34 PM Joco[m]: Lcvette So how did you balance things? What was the process?
07:35 PM Lcvette: turned all parts in a single setup
07:35 PM Lcvette: except for the facing on the back side
07:35 PM Joco[m]: between centress? Or cnc'd?
07:35 PM Lcvette: cnc's
07:36 PM Lcvette: using tailstock
07:36 PM Joco[m]: ok - best from production runs - cose I guess you want to have a bunch of these
07:36 PM Joco[m]: material? 4140?
07:36 PM Lcvette: 304SS
07:36 PM Joco[m]: Caste Iron?
07:36 PM Joco[m]: ah SS
07:36 PM Lcvette: 304 stainless steel
07:37 PM Joco[m]: not done anything 304.
07:37 PM Lcvette: its fun
07:37 PM Joco[m]: Is it nice to work with?
07:37 PM Lcvette: no
07:37 PM Lcvette: lol
07:37 PM Joco[m]: I have a nunch of 4140 that I intend to try some stuff wih
07:37 PM Lcvette: if you don't cut it just right it work hardens immediately
07:38 PM Lcvette: have to take a pretty deep cut and slow rpm
07:38 PM Joco[m]: had heard that for some of the SS, just wasn't which were worse than others
07:38 PM Lcvette: once its dialed in it cuts great but get the recipe just a hint wrong and you lose the stock and the tool
07:38 PM Joco[m]: Isn't there a "free machinging" like SS?
07:39 PM Lcvette: 304 has a high nickel content and chromium which just doesn't like heat from cutting
07:39 PM Joco[m]: <Lcvette "once its dialed in it cuts great"> OUCH
07:39 PM Lcvette: 303SS is free machining
07:40 PM Lcvette: 304, 316, 321 can be a nightmare unless you know what you are doing
07:40 PM Lcvette: i learned how tough it could be when i was young
07:40 PM Joco[m]: right - thought there was one that was intended for easy machining.
07:41 PM Joco[m]: no idea how strong or rust resistent it is. There have to be some compromises
07:41 PM Lcvette: i was trying to drill through a 0.090" piece of 304 stainless and went too fast on the drill speed, cooked the bit and hardened the sheet and nothing would drill through it
07:49 PM Lcvette: I was 14 at the time, and took it to the local machine shop and they explained it to me and showed me that stainless requires alot of pressure to take a deep chip and slow rpm
07:49 PM Lcvette: To cut under the work hardening that occurs when drilling or machining
07:49 PM Lcvette: Stuck with me
07:51 PM Lcvette: You can see it a lot in exhaust work welding 304 stainless tubing never cracks on the weld it cracks right next to the weld, this happens a lot when you use too much heat
07:54 PM Joco[m]: ah - interesting. Not gotten to welding stainless. Have some filler wire. Just not had a chance to practice.
07:54 PM Joco[m]: My TIG is an import hack. It's ok, just not nice. One day would like to replace it with an ESAB or similar.
07:55 PM Joco[m]: Have a 215 ESAB MIG. It's a nice wee machine. Wish had the 235 but that wsn't available in NZ when I bought mine. Ah well. It does what I need. Not like I weld above 8mm thick metal very often. And stingers can come out when need to do that.
07:56 PM Joco[m]: or I use neaighers big 3phase BOC machine and crank it to spray
08:20 PM hazzy-m: Lcvette: sorry, just got home
08:21 PM hazzy-m: been on mobile all day and missed your image posts
08:21 PM Lcvette: /o\
08:22 PM Lcvette: Did you see it now? I stayed thinking about it and remembered the probe inputs had formatting
08:22 PM Lcvette: Hazzy^^^
