12:48 AM Joco[m]: YAH - end of the working week. šŸ˜
01:04 AM Lcvette: Joco: just simple backlash comp
01:05 AM Lcvette: I don't have anything accurate enough to map a screw and don't think i need that level of precision from this machine, just wanted to get the x acis backlash sorted
01:05 AM Lcvette: I found my issue
01:05 AM Lcvette: It was mechanical
01:07 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: 1591289060166.JPEG (46KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/cKWISMhryKKChovRqHBlmZeX >
01:07 AM Lcvette: Gibb screw
01:08 AM Lcvette: The cnc conversation allowed more travel but the gib was too long
01:09 AM Lcvette: So at end of travel the Motor bracket drove it further in bending the screw and causing the table to stick
01:10 AM Joco[m]: Bigger
01:10 AM Joco[m]: * Bugger
01:10 AM Lcvette: I cut the gib to property length and all is good now
01:11 AM Lcvette: Was able to repair that screw..lol
01:11 AM Joco[m]: Still doing backlash comp?
01:11 AM Lcvette: Got it down to 0.0025
01:12 AM Lcvette: I think i need to shim the double nut
01:12 AM Lcvette: I repacked thr ball's with all same sized nails and think that changed the preload shim requirement
01:13 AM Joco[m]: I had about 0.02mm with no double nut.
01:15 AM Joco[m]: put BACKLASH=0.02 in the relevant JOINT section and it was bang on after that
01:16 AM Lcvette: That's really impressive from a single nut
01:16 AM Joco[m]: bang on == very small, sub 0.005mm
01:19 AM Lcvette: Yeah once i set it i was seeing about the same
01:19 AM Lcvette: +/-0.0001"
01:20 AM Joco[m]: I had 0.03 on X, 0.02 on Y and 0.07 on Z
01:20 AM Lcvette: Can you rock your table
01:20 AM Joco[m]: Iā€™m suspicious of the Z value. I suspect I have some excessive movement in the thrust bearing.
01:22 AM Joco[m]: Nothing I can feel. I have been worried about having my gibs too tight. They sure are not on the loose side.
04:57 AM JT-Cave: morning
06:45 AM hazzy-m: morning

04:21 PM Joco[m]: I think today i will be starting all the holes in the steel fixture plate.
04:22 PM Joco[m]: Although i think i might do a last minute change and convert some of the m6 holes to m8
07:35 PM Joco[m]: Almost looks like a full house.

08:37 PM Joco[m]: adjusted a little. Sticking with M10 and M6 mix. There are also 10mm holes for dowel pins that are 10mm deep then turn to an M10 thread. Plate is 15mm thick steel
