12:06 AM JamesW[m]: id that the right tool orientaton?
12:07 AM TurBoss: no
12:07 AM TurBoss: just testing
12:08 AM TurBoss: I need Advice
12:08 AM JamesW[m]: ah - cool. :-)
12:10 AM TurBoss: trying to figure
12:11 AM TurBoss: Axes orientation seems correct
12:11 AM * TurBoss uploaded an image: Captura de pantalla de 2020-05-11 07-11-11.png (29KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/vFviotNHZROQKmNgqwaTFfQv >
12:37 AM JamesW[m]: hmmm
12:38 AM JamesW[m]: being a lathe user if U was doing looking at it by hand and wanting the tooling to be aligned to the profile I would expect to see ...
12:38 AM JamesW[m]: the tool pointed from the bottom the screen into the work
12:53 AM * TurBoss uploaded a video: VTK_Lathe.webm (774KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/qPIUfuKoPxkQSnfFqxXtHnLC >
12:54 AM TurBoss: JamesW: something like this?
12:54 AM JamesW[m]: yup - exactly like that
12:54 AM TurBoss: cool
12:55 AM JamesW[m]: let me find a video of another system doing this. Watching one recently
12:55 AM TurBoss: ok
12:56 AM Not-944e: [02qtpyvcp] 07TurBoss pushed 031 commit to 03VTK_Lather [+0/-0/±1] 13https://git.io/JflJL
12:56 AM Not-944e: [02qtpyvcp] 07TurBoss 038902d4f - lathe mode for VTK Plotter
12:56 AM Not-944e: [02qtpyvcp] 07TurBoss created branch 03VTK_Lather - 13https://git.io/fhCou
12:57 AM JamesW[m]: https://youtu.be/wTCPdJVXliI
12:57 AM JamesW[m]: if you can cope with the Aussie accent, simulation starts at ~23 second mark
12:58 AM TurBoss: cool
01:07 AM JamesW[m]: Not sure how you would cope with drilling operations which come in from right hand side.
01:08 AM JamesW[m]: centred on the Z line.
01:09 AM TurBoss: yup thinking about that
01:19 AM JamesW[m]: Cose how would you know its a drilling op?
01:20 AM TurBoss: I don'0t know
01:21 AM JamesW[m]: there is no indicator on the loaded tool data?
01:21 AM TurBoss: 😕
01:21 AM TurBoss: 🤔
01:21 AM TurBoss: 😲
01:22 AM TurBoss: lol
01:25 AM JamesW[m]: would the Q value in the tool table help?
01:25 AM TurBoss: whats the Q for?
01:25 AM TurBoss: yes any tooltable column can be read by the plotter
01:25 AM JamesW[m]: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/lathe/lathe-user.html#lathe-tool-orientation
01:25 AM JamesW[m]: sets the tool orientation
01:32 AM TurBoss: yes gona use that Thanks!
01:32 AM TurBoss: so 0 is right to left
01:32 AM JamesW[m]: from memory Z- is towards the spindle
01:32 AM TurBoss: yup
01:32 AM * TurBoss uploaded an image: Captura de pantalla de 2020-05-11 08-27-11.png (13KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/vlqCZhhHcGWcbRNTokojRDMM >
01:32 AM JamesW[m]: so position 7 would be drilling
01:32 AM TurBoss: ah
01:32 AM TurBoss: positions
01:32 AM TurBoss: ...
01:32 AM TurBoss: ok
01:32 AM JamesW[m]: having said that any tool can be in Q7
01:32 AM JamesW[m]: but Q7 only makes sense for a drill. However if you honour the Q value then your graphic should represent whatever the machine is doing assuming the tool table is properly defined
01:34 AM * TurBoss sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/ehEwWOAaeQgRbLGGdqQNUaEK >
01:34 AM JamesW[m]: will need to be something in the documentation for framework that makes it clear if you want the plot to honour lathe tools you need to fill in the tool table correctly.
01:34 AM TurBoss: havind the index as Q
01:35 AM JamesW[m]: nice and clean
01:35 AM TurBoss: * having the index as Q
01:38 AM TurBoss: toolchange in lathe is T1M6
01:38 AM TurBoss: ???
01:38 AM TurBoss: it complains about missing tool in tool table
01:38 AM * TurBoss uploaded an image: Captura de pantalla de 2020-05-11 08-37-58.png (4KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/VYZgRBSrsWEsXoBhJBhVwMRX >

01:48 AM JamesW[m]: It should be the same
01:48 AM JamesW[m]: Just having dinner.
01:48 AM TurBoss: profit
01:50 AM JamesW[m]: is both the tool number and pocket number set?
01:54 AM JamesW[m]: just check docs. there is only one tool change code in gcode. M6
01:54 AM JamesW[m]: with Tx being what sets the tool requested
01:55 AM TurBoss: managed to change tool
01:56 AM JamesW[m]: what was the issue? Intrigued.
01:59 AM TurBoss: duno but tool 10 seems to load fine
01:59 AM * TurBoss uploaded an image: Captura de pantalla de 2020-05-11 08-44-27.png (208KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/yQlgSyxpEiZOkBOJgFHvjBna >
01:59 AM * TurBoss posted a file: lathe_tool_orientation (457KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/ErtBpEUtwifXAKhnhdWqMMOr >
01:59 AM TurBoss: video
01:59 AM TurBoss: :)
02:00 AM JamesW[m]: odd. And no difference between them that you can see?
02:00 AM TurBoss: not obious
02:00 AM JamesW[m]: even when looking at the raw tool tabel file?
02:00 AM TurBoss: didn't check
02:00 AM TurBoss: ed
02:00 AM JamesW[m]: which might be called lathe.tbl
02:01 AM * TurBoss sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/ThGNltVifOrQBfUoegRfLrsi >
02:01 AM TurBoss: JamesW: saw the vid?
02:03 AM TurBoss: only tool 10 seems to load
02:03 AM JamesW[m]: the only one with a Q other than 0
02:03 AM TurBoss: 🤨
02:04 AM JamesW[m]: What happens if you set T1 with Q9?
02:04 AM TurBoss: no
02:04 AM TurBoss: nothing
02:04 AM TurBoss: same error
02:04 AM JamesW[m]: ok
02:04 AM JamesW[m]: most odd
02:05 AM TurBoss: but the Q is ok on the Video?
02:05 AM TurBoss: 😇
02:06 AM JamesW[m]: think so
02:06 AM TurBoss: cool!
02:06 AM TurBoss: something less
02:06 AM JamesW[m]: will check against the docs
02:06 AM Not-944e: [02qtpyvcp] 07TurBoss pushed 031 commit to 03VTK_Lather [+0/-0/±1] 13https://git.io/JfltE
02:06 AM Not-944e: [02qtpyvcp] 07TurBoss 03c4713e7 - take Q (Orientation) in Lathe mode
02:07 AM * TurBoss uploaded an image: image.png (27KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/bWGjIKgVgSrMHZkHXvwrJPrQ >
02:07 AM JamesW[m]: ah - thanks
02:08 AM TurBoss: ok just found!
02:08 AM * TurBoss sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/ELBwKuLRJnQgGSFcdKgWigwM >
02:08 AM TurBoss: on the INI
02:08 AM TurBoss: but that is only for LATHE
02:08 AM TurBoss: * but that is only for AXIS
02:08 AM JamesW[m]: what does Q9 map to?
02:08 AM TurBoss: nothing
02:09 AM TurBoss: is just the failed test
02:09 AM JamesW[m]: k
02:09 AM TurBoss: I think the columns need limits
02:09 AM TurBoss: the cell
02:09 AM JamesW[m]: yeah - validation
02:14 AM TurBoss: I'm gone think about that on the sofa
02:32 AM TurBoss: could a ir beam be used a tool touch off?
02:34 AM TurBoss: https://youtu.be/v-S4RXMdlrY
02:46 AM JamesW[m]: Good question. From a manual angle you touch off cose you don’t have a known 0 with respect to the tool tip. In a “proper” cnc lathe it should be homed and this know where 0,0 is in respect to Z and X.
02:48 AM JamesW[m]: In that respect the lathe knowns what it wants to cut to get a known diameter
02:49 AM JamesW[m]: What I would want to do set the stock size so the programme could know when it’s about to start cutting?
02:50 AM JamesW[m]: I’m just thinking it through from what I do on the manual lathe and thinking why I do it and how the cnc could be different.
05:03 AM JT-Cave: morning
05:42 AM hazzy-m: morning
05:53 AM JT-Cave: the 3rd party gui email sure raised some dust lol
07:10 AM Lcvette: <JamesW[m] "yeah - validation"> TurBoss (@TurBoss:jauriarts.org): whoa
07:10 AM Lcvette: You were busy last night
07:10 AM Lcvette: Morning!
07:12 AM Lcvette: JT-Cave: JT-Cave what's the ³3rd pay email
07:19 AM Lcvette: * JT-Cave: JT-Cave what's the 3rd party email?
07:21 AM JT-Cave: an email about 3rd party gui's
07:22 AM Lcvette: for like probe basic and other qtpyvcp's?
07:22 AM Lcvette: to be in linuxcnc
07:22 AM Lcvette: :o
07:22 AM Lcvette: can i see?
07:22 AM Lcvette: how do i get on the list?
07:23 AM JT-Cave: http://linuxcnc.org/community/
07:23 AM Lcvette: developers list?
07:23 AM JT-Cave: yea
07:25 AM Lcvette: \o/
07:25 AM Lcvette: i joined
07:25 AM Lcvette: im a bigwig now
07:25 AM Lcvette: :D
07:43 AM hazzy-m: JT-Cave: Nothing bad about 3D Party GUIs, that I saw at least. Just some concerns that it might be more difficult for new users
07:43 AM hazzy-m: But its not realistic to have 100s of GUIs in the main LinuxCNC repo, I think it makes the most sense to have Axis and maybe a few other GUIs included, and more specialty GUIs separate
07:43 AM hazzy-m: Lcvette: lol
07:43 AM Lcvette: \o/
07:43 AM Lcvette: :D
07:43 AM JT-Cave: I agree
07:44 AM Lcvette: yeah, probe basic should be in there
07:44 AM Lcvette: 4sure!
07:44 AM Lcvette: :D
07:44 AM * JT-Cave has to build an Alaskan Chainsaw Mill
07:44 AM Lcvette: \o/
07:45 AM Lcvette: JT-Cave: :o
07:45 AM Lcvette: lcvette knows not what that is
07:45 AM Lcvette: sounds very old school
07:45 AM Lcvette: like something you'd see on the side of a river to cut logs floated down from the mountain
07:45 AM Lcvette: :D
07:53 AM Lcvette: TurBoss: notes for vtk:
07:54 AM Lcvette: z axis plus direction needs to be away from the spindle which is generally located on the left side of the machine
07:56 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-05-11_08-56-09.png (35KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/zheWGKiyyaosHcKbkFYwihnD >
07:57 AM Lcvette: this setup would be for a front tool post location
07:58 AM Lcvette: * this setup above would be for a front tool post location
07:59 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-05-11_08-58-16.png (40KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/HlxlYcaoWViouHyRCfFEjUqO >
07:59 AM Lcvette: this setup would be for a rear tool post location
07:59 AM Lcvette: the part would be in the opposite direction
08:01 AM Lcvette: i'm not sure its relevant at the moment, but we should probably consider future multi axis lathe such as live tooling and the spindle as a rotary axis. may be a bit tricky.
08:02 AM Lcvette: it should be 2D and the default position displayed as the above images are show with the origins positions as such
08:03 AM Lcvette: anyone else think of anything?
08:22 AM Lcvette: maybe a smaller origin so as not to take overt the screen?
10:00 AM TurBoss: hello
10:09 AM TurBoss: I was following this picks

10:25 AM Lcvette: just tyransfering that top my lathe pc
10:25 AM TurBoss: take some pics!
10:25 AM Lcvette: of the lathe?
10:25 AM TurBoss: yes
10:25 AM Lcvette: its a mess and unfinished
10:25 AM Lcvette: lol
10:26 AM Lcvette: but i will
10:26 AM TurBoss: 😲
10:26 AM TurBoss: 🙂
10:26 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: VectorImage_2020-05-11_112604.jpg (113KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/gulaHVgmvXLfIpJvIwWlktNZ >

10:27 AM TurBoss: wow very cool!
10:31 AM Lcvette: i hope to make it nice when all finished
10:31 AM Lcvette: but i need to get it running now for business
10:31 AM Lcvette: so will be no frills
10:31 AM Lcvette: lol
10:34 AM Lcvette: TurBoss: did you figure how to make the lathe 2d?
10:34 AM Lcvette: no y axis?
10:36 AM TurBoss: there is a propertie on the plotter
10:36 AM TurBoss: lathe =true also a slot for a button to show XZ
10:36 AM Lcvette: In the ini?
10:36 AM TurBoss: no in designer
10:37 AM Lcvette: Oh signals and slots?
10:37 AM TurBoss: lathe is a property
10:37 AM Lcvette: Ok will try real quick
10:37 AM TurBoss: and view is a slot
10:37 AM TurBoss: but Y still shown
10:37 AM Lcvette: Oh
10:40 AM Lcvette: so i need to make a button to activate lathe?
10:41 AM TurBoss: bno
10:41 AM TurBoss: * no
10:41 AM TurBoss: in te plotter property editor
10:41 AM TurBoss: should be a option to enable althe
10:41 AM TurBoss: * should be a option to enable lathe
10:41 AM Lcvette: i see it!
10:41 AM Lcvette: \o/
10:41 AM TurBoss: cool
10:42 AM TurBoss: to set the view XZ you will need a button
10:42 AM Lcvette: its still showing normal mill view
10:42 AM Lcvette: oh
10:44 AM Lcvette: clicked or clicked bool?
10:44 AM TurBoss: clicked
10:47 AM Lcvette: TurBoss: this will work for now, but i think it should be seperate for lathe maybe?
10:47 AM Lcvette: so its default
10:48 AM Lcvette: and only 2d with no revolve function
10:48 AM TurBoss: hmmm
10:48 AM TurBoss: how separate
10:48 AM Lcvette: maybe copy the plotter as a whole and rename it lathe_plotter widget?
10:48 AM Lcvette: so its different from mill
10:49 AM Lcvette: i think it will grow to have its own functions
10:49 AM TurBoss: pls no
10:49 AM TurBoss: have to mantain 2 mole
10:49 AM Lcvette: maybe then a way to turn off Y in the designer properties?
10:49 AM TurBoss: * will have to mantain 2 mole
10:50 AM Lcvette: and have it default view for lathe
10:50 AM Lcvette: i just made the buttons and it starts up in mill mode
10:50 AM TurBoss: ok I'll try to figure how to disable Y
10:50 AM Lcvette: otherwise the screen will still rotate
10:50 AM Lcvette: like for mill
10:50 AM Lcvette: 3d
10:51 AM Lcvette: and maybe an ini setting for lathe plotter that starts it in lathe xz?
10:51 AM TurBoss: so default view and diable rotation just pan
10:51 AM Lcvette: i dunno how much is possible to turn on or off in the vtk
10:51 AM Lcvette: pan and zoom
10:59 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-05-11_11-58-51.png (184KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/QAsEDCnBvHGvqeysbYKlzOgg >
11:00 AM Lcvette: ok i got everything setup in the current configuration in properties and signals and slots and its working like you described
11:00 AM Lcvette: :D
11:00 AM Lcvette: getting close
11:00 AM TurBoss: nice
11:00 AM TurBoss: cool!
11:01 AM Lcvette: ok goin back to shop pc
11:01 AM Lcvette: let em know if you need terst, i can run into dev real quick, im here just bouncing between the two locations
11:02 AM Lcvette: :D
11:02 AM Lcvette: wiring the mpg
11:02 AM TurBoss: ok ty
11:02 AM Lcvette: tedious
11:02 AM Lcvette: \o/

01:43 PM TurBoss: I mean can be an option?
01:44 PM JamesW[m]: I X+ is toward the operator
01:44 PM JamesW[m]: Diameter gets bigger
01:44 PM TurBoss: ok
01:44 PM Lcvette: TurBoss: turboss, yes the tool post can be either in front or in back
01:44 PM TurBoss: yes
01:45 PM TurBoss: but that can be set by Q
01:45 PM Lcvette: the x axis arrow would change depending on which side the tool post is
01:45 PM TurBoss: or how?
01:45 PM Lcvette: in gmoccapy it is a seperate screen set]
01:45 PM JamesW[m]: True. Not sure how cnc would interpret that
01:45 PM Lcvette: for front post or rear post
01:45 PM Lcvette: cnc doesn't care
01:45 PM Lcvette: its just for visual representation in the plotter
01:46 PM TurBoss: the link you posted yesterday was clear but now im confused
01:46 PM JamesW[m]: I guess 0 is at spindle centre
01:46 PM Lcvette: in both instances moving x- is moving towards the spindle centerline
01:46 PM JamesW[m]: So rear would be x-
01:46 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: check this
01:46 PM Lcvette: so its just a mirrored plotter view so it looks the same as on the machine
01:47 PM TurBoss: hmm lost in history
01:47 PM JamesW[m]: Lcvette: how would maxhine know which side is which if both sides are x+?
01:48 PM Lcvette: usually its one or the other
01:48 PM JamesW[m]: Maybe im missing the point
01:48 PM Lcvette: for instance a manual tool post on a tool room type lathe is usually in front
01:48 PM Lcvette: between operator and spindle
01:49 PM JamesW[m]: Yup - what I am used to
01:49 PM Lcvette: cnc lathe with turret the tool is behind the spindle centerline
01:49 PM * TurBoss uploaded an image: image.png (28KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/vBPegYUYMDDTasIUhABceIQO >
01:49 PM TurBoss: this is from lcnc docs
01:49 PM Lcvette: yes
01:49 PM TurBoss: X doesn't change dor index 3 8 4
01:50 PM TurBoss: also just saw position 9
01:50 PM JamesW[m]: Cool. So x+ still toward operator.
01:50 PM Lcvette: yes position 9 is drilling type tool
01:51 PM TurBoss: gotcha
01:51 PM Lcvette: always on centerline
01:51 PM Lcvette: im not familiar with linuxcnc tool tuip thing
01:52 PM JamesW[m]: Can see small print on ipad. Is 9 in the small print under 7?
01:52 PM Lcvette: but cutting small diameter should ALWAYS be going x-
01:52 PM Lcvette: because the dro is reading the actual size of the part where the cutter is contacting
01:52 PM TurBoss: JamesW: yes
01:52 PM JamesW[m]: Cool
01:53 PM Lcvette: it is wrong for an x+ move to create a smaller diameter work piece
01:53 PM Lcvette: regardless of front or back tool post location
01:53 PM Lcvette: x- should ALWAYS be moving toward spindle centerline
01:53 PM TurBoss: I can ask a lathe operator but is fanuc
01:54 PM Lcvette: he will tell you the same
01:54 PM Lcvette: thats why on a lathe interface X usually has diameter or radius next to it
01:54 PM TurBoss: but in spanish lol
01:54 PM Lcvette: because it is the actual part radius or diameter
01:54 PM TurBoss: ok
01:54 PM TurBoss: XD
01:54 PM TurBoss: so if goes up from center still goes X +
01:55 PM Lcvette: this would not work if x moving in plus direction moved towards the spindle centerline
01:55 PM Lcvette: those tool representations could be for different types of tooling
01:55 PM JamesW[m]: So ... are we confusing work coords vs machine coords in this ?
01:55 PM Lcvette: for instance internal tools
01:55 PM Lcvette: no
01:56 PM JamesW[m]: Or how the operator sees rhings?
01:56 PM Lcvette: position 6 would be an external tool while position 8 would be an internal tool
01:57 PM JamesW[m]: Cose at a machine level i cant see how it can not be operating as x+ is towards spindle 0 for rear tool post ops
01:58 PM JamesW[m]: Unless the tool Q value is used to determine when it flicks how linuxcnc sees x+/-
01:58 PM Lcvette: that way for a front mount tool post, when position 8 tool is cutting it will be cutting in the x+ direction making the radius or diameter of the tools cutting point reading the actual radius or dimaeter of the cut path
01:58 PM TurBoss: should be easy to test looking at dro
01:59 PM Lcvette: position Q 4, 8, 3 would be internal cutting tools
01:59 PM TurBoss: if once reaches 0
01:59 PM Lcvette: position Q 1, 6, 2 are external cutting tools
02:01 PM JamesW[m]: Ah well. Spin up a sim in axis lathe and see what or does with tools in different Q position
02:01 PM JamesW[m]: Check the abs vs rel dro values
02:02 PM * JamesW[m] slacking in bed on ipad
02:03 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: VectorImage_2020-05-11_030225.jpg (79KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/TkoDJVggQvWVAnOckDwNCZnK >
02:03 PM Lcvette: here is a better example
02:04 PM Lcvette: tool position 3, the boring bar will still cut from the spindle centerline out
02:05 PM Lcvette: make better sense now?
02:06 PM JamesW[m]: I get all the effects on work size and the effective X changes. Do all that translation in head when reading dro on manual lathe.
02:07 PM Lcvette: so the tool position Q is relative to the toolpost position front and rear
02:07 PM Lcvette: all9 positions
02:08 PM Lcvette: * all 9 positions
02:08 PM JamesW[m]: I just to find time to play with lathe sim to see how the cnc side is playing. To me then only thing that makes sense is the Q value is being used to inform how X is either interpreted or displayed.
02:09 PM Lcvette: its used for the interpereter
02:10 PM Lcvette: the plotter display is strictly for vanity purposes
02:10 PM Lcvette: as it functions the same with either toolpost
02:11 PM Lcvette: its just matching the graphical representation to the machine
02:11 PM Lcvette: it is NOT to flip the view
02:11 PM Lcvette: the Q
02:12 PM JamesW[m]: Out of interest I see your lathe is slant bed design. Is there advantages in that style?
02:13 PM Lcvette: for this particulat machine i am going to be adding a turret, and the long table and motor would take up more space being flat as well as coolant puddling on the bed as it does not have pass through drains
02:13 PM Lcvette: so made sense to mount it slanted
02:13 PM Lcvette: but it has no other advantages as its still a flat lathe just canted 45deg
02:14 PM JamesW[m]: Ok. Cheers.

07:53 PM -!- #hazzy mode set to +o by ChanServ
08:01 PM Lcvette: Is there an mpg mode? That stops pulse output when the wheel stops turning?
08:01 PM Lcvette: I never noticed stack up on the mill
08:01 PM Lcvette: But it may be due to how fast the servos move
08:02 PM JamesW[m]: I thought that was how it worked
08:02 PM Lcvette: Or maybe a setting
08:02 PM JamesW[m]: well ..
08:02 PM JamesW[m]: there is commanded position v's velcoity
08:02 PM Lcvette: Right now on the lathe things move until the input pulse count catches up
08:02 PM JamesW[m]: so if you are in commanded position it will keep moving even if wheel stopped to do the commanded distance
08:03 PM Lcvette: Where is the setting for that?
08:03 PM Lcvette: Ini?
08:03 PM JamesW[m]: honestly not sure.
08:04 PM hazzy-m: Lcvette: I use vel mode for slow axes (<300ipm) and commanded for fast axes that can keep up no matter how fast you spin the wheel
08:04 PM JamesW[m]: I don't have an mpg so not had to dive into that. I did read up about it at one point
08:04 PM JamesW[m]: hazzy to the rescue
08:04 PM Lcvette: hazzy: where is that setting?
08:04 PM hazzy-m: Lcvette: https://github.com/KurtJacobson/RF45-config/blob/master/mpg.hal#L25
08:05 PM Lcvette: Nice thanks!
08:05 PM hazzy-m: you need to set if for both the joint and axis
08:05 PM hazzy-m: look at line 15
08:06 PM Lcvette: Is there a way to have different settings for different increments?
08:06 PM Lcvette: Ie count for 0.0001 and 0.001. And velocity for 0.010?
08:06 PM hazzy-m: with a little HAL logic, absolutely
08:07 PM Lcvette: :o
08:07 PM Lcvette: /o\
08:07 PM hazzy-m: just need to make sure there are not a lot of accumulated counts when switching modes, otherwise you might get a surprise ...
08:07 PM Lcvette: Don't switch while moving
08:08 PM hazzy-m: yeah, but depending on how far behind the axis gets it might take a while
08:08 PM hazzy-m: but it might be smart enough to ignore extra counts when switching modes
08:09 PM hazzy-m: Lcvette: making good progress on typeinable DROs
08:09 PM JamesW[m]: type inable?
08:10 PM JamesW[m]: to replace MDI moves?
08:10 PM hazzy-m: for setting current machine pos to the entered number
08:11 PM hazzy-m: it's extremely convenient
08:12 PM hazzy-m: if you type in a distance to go DRO it will move that distance, with a warning of course that motion will occur
08:13 PM JamesW[m]: ah. I use MDI or jog. Or I have a touch gui for setting g5x home position
08:13 PM Lcvette: Yeah typinable dros will be the berries
08:13 PM JamesW[m]: more paranoia on what is going to happen. Can see how doing direct to DRO would be pretty swish
08:19 PM Lcvette: So by using counters on 0.001 or under, i can't really turn it fast enough for counts to build up
08:19 PM Lcvette: So think i would be fine it's just 0.01 that had noticeable stack up
08:20 PM Lcvette: I need to just put the servos on it
08:20 PM Lcvette: Hazzy can you fold me a box :D
08:38 PM hazzy-m: if you draw it up, absolutely!
08:39 PM hazzy-m: I probably even have sheet metal to cut it from
