12:00 AM Lcvette: is this the same as your hal?
12:01 AM TurBoss: oh I'm with the slider
12:01 AM TurBoss: I'll try latest master
12:01 AM Lcvette: this is latest programmable coolant branch
12:01 AM Lcvette: in probe basic
12:03 AM Lcvette: is sim cannon.hal a postgui hal files?
12:03 AM TurBoss: ATC or regular?
12:03 AM Lcvette: regular
12:05 AM TurBoss: ok got trapezoids
12:06 AM Lcvette: ok
12:06 AM Lcvette: is it supposed to be trapezoids?
12:12 AM Lcvette: its wierd that the 333 does not activate
12:12 AM Lcvette: but seems to look right once activated
12:12 AM Lcvette: short pulses with lower angle and bigger pulses with bigger angle
12:12 AM Lcvette: i made test too 49 that gives 56.xx degrees
12:12 AM Lcvette: and when compared t tool 0 which s 26.xx degrees you can see a difference
12:12 AM Lcvette: * i made test tool 49 that gives 56.xx degrees
12:12 AM Lcvette: * and when compared to tool 0 which s 26.xx degrees you can see a difference
12:14 AM TurBoss: I have to manually set value to see some changes
12:15 AM Lcvette: i can only get 2 wave forms
12:15 AM Lcvette: and nothing between
12:15 AM Lcvette: so something is maybe diferent from the slider hal file?
12:17 AM TurBoss: servo thread
12:17 AM Lcvette: i figured the 333 thing
12:17 AM TurBoss: \o/
12:18 AM Lcvette: setp pwmgen.0.enable 0
12:18 AM Lcvette: was 1, i changed to 0 and now it is showing 333 when started
12:18 AM TurBoss: so it need to be set befor enable
12:19 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-03-07_01-12-33.png (50KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/PVmpdIvbpSFiMBkKtSzmAGRG >
12:21 AM Lcvette: but now i have no trapezxoids
12:22 AM Lcvette: /o\
12:22 AM TurBoss: is becaus is not enabled
12:22 AM Lcvette: so what do i need to do to enable?
12:22 AM Lcvette: move enable under pwm-freq?
12:22 AM TurBoss: i tried
12:22 AM Lcvette: change the order?
12:22 AM TurBoss: :(
12:26 AM Lcvette: well crap i though i found something
12:26 AM Lcvette: but it wasn't anything
12:27 AM Lcvette: lcvette is confused
12:27 AM Lcvette: /o\
12:27 AM Lcvette: and sleepy
12:28 AM TurBoss: same here
12:28 AM Lcvette: lets sleep on it
12:28 AM TurBoss: good
12:28 AM Lcvette: maybe it will come to us with some rest
12:28 AM TurBoss: sure
12:28 AM TurBoss: night
12:28 AM Lcvette: nigth!
12:28 AM Lcvette: :D
06:44 AM Hendrik[m]: hej all, me again. tried out 0.2.5
06:44 AM Hendrik[m]: it seams that the routine for the "touch off current tool" button is missing the feedrate
06:46 AM Hendrik[m]: ah ops, the offsets tabs settings were resetted

07:43 AM Hendrik[m]: ops found the issue
07:43 AM Hendrik[m]: startup code G20 inch and i needed g21/mm
07:52 AM Hendrik[m]: works perfect 🙂
08:34 AM Lcvette: hurray!
08:35 AM Lcvette: Hendrik: hgave you tested the tool diam offset ?
08:41 AM Lcvette: morning all!
08:47 AM Hendrik[m]: M6 movement is really slow, but i dont find any setting in the subroutine, do u know where i can increase it?
08:47 AM Lcvette: ?
08:47 AM Lcvette: the probing move
08:48 AM Lcvette: the probing move is probe fast feedrsate
08:48 AM Lcvette: * the probing move is probe fast feedrate
08:50 AM Hendrik[m]: no i have a custom toolchange position
08:50 AM Lcvette: it should be a G0 move
08:53 AM Lcvette: Hendrik:
08:53 AM * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/CphTefhaMdKQqUdwMCgOGtVp >
08:53 AM Lcvette: this is the tool_touch_off.ngc move comman and is in G0 move
08:54 AM Lcvette: once in position it uses the probe fast feedrate to find the touch surface with the tool
08:58 AM Hendrik[m]: hm yeah it seams that my default velocity is not set
08:59 AM Lcvette: set it in the ini
09:01 AM Lcvette: but all of the moves should be preset
09:01 AM Lcvette: rapid move and then fast FR controls the speed for the initial probe
09:02 AM Hendrik[m]: yeah this works fine
09:02 AM Lcvette: great! \o/
09:02 AM Hendrik[m]: isn't it traj: default_angular_velocity anymore?
09:03 AM * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/JKvhorAqddglCUlOEnoUWwxW >
09:03 AM Lcvette: this is what is set in the probe basic sim
09:08 AM Hendrik[m]: ah i missed a 0 🙂
09:08 AM Hendrik[m]: but i still have a question about how u operate with the measured tools
09:10 AM Hendrik[m]: let me say i have 3 tools and i measured them all by the electonic touch off
09:10 AM Hendrik[m]: how do u / with which tool do u set the workspace zeros for the part to machine?
09:10 AM Lcvette: touch probe
09:10 AM Lcvette: or a master tool
09:11 AM Lcvette: all tool length offsets should be relative to the spindle
09:11 AM Lcvette: nose
09:13 AM Hendrik[m]: at the moment i have tool 1 with z offset 70 and tool 2 with offset 90
09:13 AM Hendrik[m]: tool1 is longer than tool2, so should it not be the opposite way?
09:14 AM Lcvette: Did you measure your spindle nose height?
09:14 AM Lcvette: To the touch probe?
09:14 AM Hendrik[m]: ah
09:14 AM Lcvette: Ie probe the spindle nose
09:15 AM Hendrik[m]: ah and than i set touch off position?
09:15 AM Hendrik[m]: because at the moment i have z=0 as the touch off position
09:15 AM Lcvette: It should be z 0
09:18 AM Lcvette: you first probe the spindle nose
09:19 AM Lcvette: and record the measurement in the spindle zero box
09:19 AM Lcvette: you must have a known distance between home position and the tool touch plate trigger
09:19 AM Lcvette: you use the spindle nose for this to establish the gauge line
09:20 AM Lcvette: then all subsequent tool measurements will be calculated using that spindle nose didstance
09:22 AM Lcvette: Hendrik: ^^^
09:30 AM * Hendrik[m] uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-03-07_16-22-28.png (284KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/gdtMvQfjzzwTamoiBvwgNrwg >
09:30 AM Lcvette: the spindle zero is a positive integer
09:31 AM Lcvette: its a distance not a position
09:31 AM Lcvette: your z max travel is set to only 100mm
09:32 AM Lcvette: but your spindle to touch plate distance is 136mm
09:32 AM Lcvette: the z max travel is a safety
09:32 AM Hendrik[m]: my z probe is 42mm high
09:32 AM Lcvette: that does not matter
09:32 AM Lcvette: we do not use the touch plate height
09:32 AM Lcvette: we use the spindle gauge line
09:33 AM Lcvette: so touch off the spindle
09:33 AM Lcvette: and record the distance in the spindle zero box as a positive integer
09:34 AM Lcvette: that defines gauge line rather then the touch plate hieght
09:34 AM Lcvette: * that defines gauge line rather then the touch plate height
09:36 AM Hendrik[m]: ok works now
09:36 AM * Hendrik[m] uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-03-07_16-29-19.png (284KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/aFbCDWHbrHixusowAmpwfhQp >
09:37 AM Lcvette: you have a very short z travel?
09:37 AM Hendrik[m]: 140mm yes
09:38 AM Hendrik[m]: is a portal machine
09:38 AM Lcvette: ok
09:38 AM Lcvette: just mnaking sure
09:38 AM Lcvette: * just making sure
09:38 AM Lcvette: whats a p[oprtal machine?
09:38 AM Lcvette: * whats a portal machine?
09:39 AM * Hendrik[m] uploaded an image: IMG_20200307_163059.jpg (5348KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/TrPfFyxgqLecnQrbhmgnvGSO >
09:41 AM Lcvette: ok so you will need an offset for your probe
09:41 AM Lcvette: touch probe is on the side of your head yes?
09:42 AM Lcvette: dremeier has same setup and we worked out how to adjust the probe subroutines to account for the offset
09:42 AM Hendrik[m]: this is my 3d probe
09:43 AM * Hendrik[m] uploaded an image: IMG_20200307_163515.jpg (4268KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/mODLQJcacPxVXtmAfBzwzXYQ >
09:43 AM Hendrik[m]: this is my z probe
09:44 AM Hendrik[m]: my 3d probe is at the moment not configured and i have no idea how, i have to see how i could do this 😅 ... maybe setting the 3d probe as tool1
09:44 AM Lcvette: just choose a tool number for it
09:44 AM Lcvette: then set the desired tool number as the probe tool on the probing page
09:45 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-03-07_10-38-27.png (20KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/qEvMQFaoJWXuJvWYDMywxGNm >
09:46 AM Hendrik[m]: oh yeah great
09:46 AM Hendrik[m]: but i have to add a button or modify the toolchanging routine maybe because the 3d probe is moving down/up via pneumatic
09:47 AM Lcvette: what triggers it to come down into position?
09:49 AM Hendrik[m]: net probe-3d-out <= motion.digital-out-00 => hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.output-05
09:49 AM Lcvette: you could add that to the probing routine
09:49 AM Lcvette: use a motion pin call from within the subroutine
09:50 AM Hendrik[m]: sure? because first an inserted tool has to be removed
09:50 AM Lcvette: although that would not bring the probe down until probing was started
09:50 AM Lcvette: maybe not the best
09:50 AM Lcvette: better to add a button to manually bring it down i think
09:51 AM Hendrik[m]: i added this into the old toolchange routine (untested)
09:51 AM Lcvette: dremeier has the same side mjount probe tool, maybe he has found a good configuration for it

09:51 AM Lcvette: yes could add an if else statement
09:51 AM Lcvette: yes there you go
09:51 AM Hendrik[m]: https://github.com/HendrikRoth/hildegard/blob/master/subroutines/toolchange_auto_probe.ngc
09:52 AM Lcvette: so if tool called equals probe tool number
09:52 AM Hendrik[m]: yes this was basically my idea of it
09:52 AM Lcvette: per4fect
09:52 AM Lcvette: that way you call for the probe tool in an m6 command
09:52 AM Lcvette: great!
09:52 AM Hendrik[m]: but as said, untested.. need to implement it now in the new routine 🙂
09:53 AM Lcvette: :D
09:53 AM Hendrik[m]: but as i am at the machine now, i can try it now 🙂
09:53 AM Lcvette: and you need to add some offsets to account for the x and y shift from probe center to spindle center
09:54 AM Hendrik[m]: ah yes there is a problem
09:54 AM Hendrik[m]: i dont see x/y offset columns in the tooltable in probe basic
09:54 AM Lcvette: oooh would that work?
09:54 AM Lcvette: do you have dev version?
09:55 AM Lcvette: quickstart installer version v0.2.5?
09:57 AM Hendrik[m]: yes 0.2.5
09:58 AM Lcvette: ok i did not think the x and y offset would be useful but i see now for this instance it could i am putting it back in
09:58 AM Hendrik[m]: or i have to set the offset in the toolchanger routine maybe
09:59 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-03-07_10-51-02.png (94KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/ONCjovIRbhUVWQRBFCHNLaVF >
09:59 AM Hendrik[m]: yeah normally i don't see there any benefit of x/y offset too
10:01 AM Lcvette: need to amke an option for the tool table column display
10:01 AM Lcvette: that is accessible from the settings page
10:01 AM Lcvette: currently it is in qtdesigner
10:01 AM Hendrik[m]: this would be nice
10:01 AM Lcvette: in the itnerim, you can just set the offsets in the var table
10:02 AM Lcvette: * in the itnerim, you can just set the offsets in the tool table file table
10:02 AM Hendrik[m]: ah ok
10:02 AM * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/VReLeGyuGfTWLnIIzjVkGmtH >
10:02 AM Hendrik[m]: at the moment i have a problem that i can't set the motion.digital-out-05 parameter, have first to figure out why 🙂
10:03 AM Lcvette: im not good with hal
10:03 AM Lcvette: oooh dremeier is here
10:03 AM Lcvette: he is good with hal
10:03 AM Lcvette: and he has the same drop down probe just like you\
10:03 AM Hendrik[m]: yeah i first try it by myself and than i ask him 🙂
10:03 AM Hendrik[m]: hm he didn't mentioned 😄
10:04 AM Lcvette: lol
10:04 AM Lcvette: :D
10:04 AM Lcvette: \o/
10:04 AM Hendrik[m]: by the way, i made a little fusion360 tool library management tool which exports to linuxcnc tooltables too, maybe interesting for u too
10:04 AM Hendrik[m]: https://github.com/HendrikRoth/fusion-inventory
10:04 AM Lcvette: yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10:05 AM Hendrik[m]: needs some work, but basically it works
10:05 AM Lcvette: we should implement into probe basic
10:05 AM Lcvette: this would be phenominal
10:05 AM Lcvette: \o/
10:06 AM * Hendrik[m] uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-03-07_16-58-59.png (105KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/bOzNLpGdjQRAlWYzefUoPyLO >

10:08 AM Lcvette: \o/

10:08 AM Hendrik[m]: and u can add custom fields for every tool

10:10 AM Hendrik[m]: but enough of "advertisement" 😅
10:10 AM Hendrik[m]: sorry my screenshots are german because fusion is set to german here.
10:13 AM Hendrik[m]: the qr code is to scan by phone to decrease the inventory count of the tool, the idea was to make stickers with the qr code for every tool
10:13 AM dremeier[m]1: sorry guys, corona visit me😳
10:13 AM Lcvette: dremeier: you have corona?
10:13 AM Lcvette: oh no
10:13 AM Hendrik[m]: 😷
10:14 AM dremeier[m]1: may be yes, my head is exploding
10:14 AM Lcvette: /o\
10:14 AM Lcvette: that is terrible
10:15 AM dremeier[m]1: my son started with the symptom and I follow today, normally I'm never sick
10:15 AM Hendrik[m]: oje
10:15 AM Hendrik[m]: gute besserung
10:16 AM dremeier[m]1: Hendrik you can have a look in my repro, there is a offset for the 3d-probe implemented.
10:16 AM Lcvette: dremeier: hendrick had a great idea to use the tool x and y offset
10:17 AM dremeier[m]1: oh, what idea?
10:17 AM Lcvette: not sure if that would write the offset to the probed position when offsets are removed
10:17 AM Lcvette: but i think mayb it would
10:17 AM Hendrik[m]: just using the 3d probe as a tool entry in the tooltable and setting x/y offsets there for it
10:17 AM Lcvette: same as the z height
10:19 AM dremeier[m]1: Yes that could work, I had the same idea, but was not sure, so I used your Lcvette idea
10:19 AM Lcvette: lol
10:19 AM Lcvette: /o\
10:19 AM Lcvette: i think the tool offset would be much bvetter for people as its very simple and requires no subroutine changes
10:20 AM dremeier[m]1: right👍️
10:20 AM Lcvette: and when g49 or the next tool is called withn a zero offset in x and y it should be centered on the probed corner
10:20 AM Lcvette: \o/
10:21 AM Lcvette: duh can't believe i did not consider that
10:21 AM Hendrik[m]: sometimes newbies can help too 😅
10:22 AM Lcvette: Yes indeed Hendrick
10:23 AM Lcvette: Collaboration is good
10:29 AM pcw_home: dremeier[m]1 I have a patch for the 7I87 halshow issue
10:29 AM dremeier[m]1: oh great!
10:30 AM pcw_home: it involves updating the 7I87 firmware so it doesn't confuse the driver with too many parameters
10:30 AM dremeier[m]1: ah, makes sense
10:32 AM pcw_home: http://freeby.mesanet.com/sserial.tgz has the new BIN and scripts
10:34 AM dremeier[m]1: thank you Peter, now I have to remember how to flash the sserial, also with mesaflash?
10:37 AM Lcvette: pcw_home: have a moment? turboss and i are stumped on the pwm thing
10:37 AM pcw_home: no, theres a script for it in the tarball
10:38 AM dremeier[m]1: ok thanks
10:38 AM pcw_home: YOu may need to adjust the scripts depending on you hardware

10:39 AM Lcvette: setp pwmgen.0.pwm-freq 333
10:40 AM Lcvette: we can manually execut this line and it sets the frequency to 333
10:40 AM Lcvette: but does not do it on load
10:40 AM Lcvette: we are tyring to test in the sim
10:41 AM Lcvette: also does not seem to give change the way we would expect in the halscope

10:55 AM pcw_home: On the other hand I am not sure why you want to simulate this, I would have started at the opposite end and got the servo working properly with halcmd setp pwm.value statements and worked backwards (top down design is fine but bottom up building is often better)
10:57 AM Lcvette: turboss had the servo moving
10:57 AM roguish[m]: pcw_home: Pete, how about a fairly simple electronic question?
10:58 AM Lcvette: we were trying to implement into probe basic
10:58 AM Lcvette: and test the subroutines and calculations
10:58 AM Lcvette: but started having some issues with the hal loading

11:02 AM Lcvette: if i load that line in the execution it goes to 1hz or whatever i put there fine no issues
11:02 AM roguish[m]: pcw_home: what electronics can I, should I, add between the drive DIR input adn the 6i24 DIR output?
11:05 AM Hendrik[m]: Lcvette: Where do u store the variables that are set in the settings tab etc in probe_basic?
11:06 AM Lcvette: i think they get stored in a .json file
11:06 AM Lcvette: you have to setup anything that will be persistent
11:06 AM Lcvette: what are you trying to do maybe i can help
11:09 AM pcw_home: roguish[m] You can wire directly (especially with sinking mode drive inputs = 5V common), _but_ you can fry the FPGA if you make a wiring mistake (even just touchin a FPGA I/O line to an electrically dirty frame ground can cause damage)
11:09 AM Hendrik[m]: Just want to save these settings for example for the touch Probe location in my github repo
11:10 AM Lcvette: oh i dunno
11:10 AM Lcvette: you mean you want to add a vcpsettinglineedit to the gui?
11:11 AM Lcvette: and have it be persistent?
11:11 AM Lcvette: the touch probe location is a persistent setting
11:12 AM Lcvette: * the touch off plate location is a persistent setting
11:13 AM Lcvette: as are all of the probe and touch off settings
11:13 AM roguish[m]: pcw_home: that's exactly what i'm affraid of. on the mill setup, I have a 7i42 breakout/fpga protection card inline.
11:13 AM Lcvette: but they can get erased when updating because currently to update with the installer version you must first uninstall
11:14 AM Lcvette: roguish: sounds like it would be smarter/safer to have some protection between the fpga and new drive
11:14 AM roguish[m]: pcw_home: is the 7i42 adequate?
11:14 AM pcw_home: roguish[m] Also that drive has active high PWM and no enable so you would either want a daughter card that has inverting outputs (like the 7I47/7I52S)
11:16 AM pcw_home: Or just wire a 74ACT04 by hand (or use a mesa ENC422 for just on axis to test)
11:23 AM Hendrik[m]: Lcvette yeah but i would prefer to store/backup these settings because i already clicked one time on the set touch probe location button
11:23 AM Hendrik[m]: (Not wanted)
11:23 AM Lcvette: currently the quick start installer installs somewhere unavailable for users to access i think
11:24 AM Lcvette: turboss knows more about that though
11:24 AM Lcvette: he did the installer
11:34 AM roguish[m]: pcw_home: that little ENC422 is pretty simple. 3 channel intended for encoder. so, here just using 2 channels for PWM and DIR ? wouldn't it also provide stupid voltage protection?
11:34 AM hazzy-m: Hendrik: do you want to save the settings for a specific machine config?
11:35 AM Lcvette: hazzy: I think that is 2hat he is looking for
11:35 AM Lcvette: o/

11:43 AM pcw_home: roguish[m], yes it would provide some protection and also allow you to invert the PWM signal so it doesn't runaway at startup
11:47 AM roguish[m]: pcw_home: ok. that's good. too bad you're not open today..... how about this? https://www.amazon.com/NOYITO-Signal-Bidirectional-Conversion-Full-Duplex/dp/B07C3LPHLM/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=ttl+to+rs422&qid=1583602776&sr=8-5

11:49 AM roguish[m]: like, literally more than anyone else.....
11:50 AM pcw_home: It probably does not have 5V swing, not sure if the drive needs 5V or 3.3V is OK

05:17 PM Lcvette: D-Flo: you need to load the blank.ngc program

05:20 PM D-Flo[m]: Hmm I can’t find blank.ngc in my file directory
05:21 PM Hendrik[m]: Lcvette: What would be the preferred programming language to run as an extern program via any button in probe_basic/qtpyvcp.. i guess python3?
05:21 PM Lcvette: It is on the probe basic ngc
05:21 PM Lcvette: Python 2.7
05:22 PM Hendrik[m]: i would maybe write a little python script that loads the tools from fusion and load them into the tool table
05:22 PM Hendrik[m]: so basically transferring it from my old website tool to a little standalone python script
05:22 PM Lcvette: Nice!

06:33 PM hazzy-m: Lcvette: what's the problemo?
06:34 PM Lcvette: getting some odd behavior in the tool touch off
06:34 PM Lcvette: wanna have a peak?
06:34 PM Lcvette: seems to get unhappy if you have a work offset set and are in it
06:35 PM Lcvette: it also was not removing the tool length offset but i made an if statement that forces it into G49 before proceeding
06:35 PM Lcvette: that seems to be working now

06:59 PM Hendrik[m]: Lcvette: Was the spindle feeding speed slider supposed to be fixed in 0.2.5?

07:11 PM Hendrik[m]: but this is basically how i am doing it in my website script (nodejs)
07:12 PM Hendrik[m]: would be cool to add a button to the tool table in probebasic which acts like the reload tooltable button but first runs the script
07:12 PM Lcvette: That would be awesome
07:14 PM Hendrik[m]: Lcvette: is there a way to link a script to the reload table button?
07:15 PM Lcvette: Maybe?
07:15 PM Lcvette: I don't know python
07:15 PM Hendrik[m]: something like "run_pre_reload.sh" which is empty or in the case someone is using something like the script that has python....script.py... in it
07:15 PM Lcvette: Turboss or hazzy may know a way though.?
07:15 PM Hendrik[m]: ah ok
07:16 PM Hendrik[m]: just to make it flexible, i would prefer to stick to the "mainstream" probe_basic instead of forking it
07:17 PM hazzy-m: D-Flo: you had a manual mill!
07:17 PM hazzy-m: I have basically the same machine and made all the parts needed to convert it on it, but it did take a lone time
07:18 PM hazzy-m: BTW, I'm just messing with you, you did a great job!
07:18 PM hazzy-m: it took me about 2yrs to convert mine lol
07:21 PM hazzy-m: Hendrik: the tool table model and display (the parts that you actually interact with the the GUI) don't do any of the actual data fetching or manipulation
07:22 PM Hendrik[m]: hazzy: but i load the tool.tbl or not?
07:22 PM Hendrik[m]: hazzy: but u load the tool.tbl or not?
07:22 PM hazzy-m: I knew that somebody like you would come along and want to do something cool, so I abstracted the actual tool table logic and made it a plugin so its it would be easy to replace with a custom one
07:22 PM Hendrik[m]: otherwise i would just put it in a sh script before starting linuxcnc
07:22 PM Hendrik[m]: yay!

07:24 PM hazzy-m: Hendrik: so what you can do is copy the plugin file from plugins/tool_table.py, put it in your config directory (or somewhere else convenient), change the plugins:tooltable: provider entry in the yaml file to point to the new file and start hacking!

07:46 PM Hendrik[m]: i am going to move to bavaria this year, my girlfriend lives there
07:46 PM hazzy-m: It seems like everyone here is from northern germany, I'll need make a trip up there sometime I guess
07:46 PM hazzy-m: Nice!!
07:47 PM Hendrik[m]: bavaria is beautiful
07:47 PM hazzy-m: it is! I almost decided not to come home lol
07:47 PM hazzy-m: and they have good beer ...
07:48 PM * hazzy-m goes to list PLCs on ebay
07:49 PM Hendrik[m]: haha
07:51 PM jthornton: you got a bunch of PLC's to get rid of?
07:53 PM * hazzy-m uploaded an image: ima_ddb4859.jpeg (164KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/HimlswymqtXFKYBLykWtGLrr >
07:54 PM hazzy-m: jthornton: do you have any use for a simatic HMI panel?
07:55 PM jthornton: can't think of one, I usually use AD touch screens for HMI panels
07:55 PM * hazzy-m uploaded an image: ima_5f10e9b.jpeg (188KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/gTbGlzuTXPZDuhXNTojMSkVk >
07:56 PM jthornton: I've never programmed a Siemens PLC before
07:56 PM hazzy-m: Yeah, I was thinking about saving them but I’d want something newer for any project I’d do
07:56 PM hazzy-m: It’s a pain...
07:57 PM hazzy-m: I’m not a fan
07:57 PM jthornton: best if you find someone that has a broken one they need to replace
07:57 PM jthornton: have you seen the productivity PLC's at AD?
07:57 PM jthornton: I've just been looking at the 1000 and 2000 series for a project
07:57 PM hazzy-m: Exactly what I’m thinking. Not worth anything to me, but might be worth a lot as a replacement
07:58 PM hazzy-m: No I haven’t
07:58 PM jthornton: 16 bit analog input cards with 65535 points per input
07:58 PM hazzy-m: Nice!
07:58 PM jthornton: and the software is FREE
07:59 PM jthornton: and no programming serial cable to buy
07:59 PM * hazzy-m uploaded an image: ima_5a6b6e9.jpeg (207KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/vYfFgpaoQgYrECpIMewynttc >
07:59 PM jthornton: USB or Ethernet
07:59 PM hazzy-m: 5hp VFD, might be useful
07:59 PM jthornton: 3ph in 3ph out?
08:00 PM hazzy-m: How is the IDE? The simatic step 7 one sucks
08:00 PM hazzy-m: Yes, only 480v input :(
08:00 PM jthornton: seems to be real nice to use
08:01 PM jthornton: well I've got 1000 miles under my belt in various vehicles the last two days so I'm a tired puppy and heading to the couch
08:02 PM hazzy-m: Night
08:28 PM D-Flo[m]: Why can’t I “@“ Lcvette?
08:29 PM D-Flo[m]: BTW your code still works when there is no offset (tool or work). However, it still does not work if there is either offset in place. To be honest I would be happy if the code set the tool offset to 0 prior to running the homing routine
08:30 PM D-Flo[m]: And then I can just reserve a coordinate system with 0 offsets for checking tool lengths
08:41 PM Lcvette: i ran it here multiple times now and with g49 active it is no longer doing anything funny with the tool heights
08:41 PM Lcvette: wonder what is different between yours and mine?
08:54 PM D-Flo[m]: I’m running 2.5
08:57 PM Lcvette: same here
08:57 PM Lcvette: when i set a tool that already has a tlo it just overwrites it
09:02 PM * Lcvette posted a file: tool_touch_off.mkv (7362KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/KltdzKWCKTPISvYGtwXpnOXG >
09:02 PM Lcvette: D-Flo: ^^^ see video
09:04 PM Lcvette: that is done with no work offsets in place just the tool length offset but seems to be working correctly
09:04 PM Lcvette: the spindle nose zero was set at 5"
09:04 PM D-Flo[m]: do you have a different movie file?
09:04 PM Lcvette: it probed at 7.xxxx
09:05 PM Lcvette: and new tool offset recorded was 5+(-7.xxx) = -2.xxx and then the absolute is recorded as 2.xxx
09:05 PM Lcvette: no thats just what kicks off simple screen recorder
09:05 PM Lcvette: should be watchable on linux
09:06 PM Lcvette: can do sudo apt install simplescreenrecorder
09:06 PM Lcvette: so you can also screen record issues
09:06 PM Lcvette: it is also a player
09:09 PM D-Flo[m]: Ah I didn’t know that 👍
09:09 PM D-Flo[m]: I need to get a usb WiFi
09:10 PM D-Flo[m]: Do you want to see a recording of what’s going on with mine? I see that it’s working for you...
09:12 PM Lcvette: yes that would help, maybe i catch something
09:12 PM Lcvette: and can find a fix
09:12 PM Lcvette: hendrick, i also just tested the spindle override and it seems to be working fine in sim
09:15 PM * Lcvette posted a file: spindle_override.mkv (6847KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/pxVeAebgawGiEZQgrRSlGFdk >
09:15 PM Lcvette: hendrick, see above!
09:15 PM Lcvette: i wonder if maybe your settings in the ini are not setup for the sliders?
09:16 PM * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/LyHWtHilqSQSDarDlyhbfMqD >
09:17 PM Lcvette: need to put values in your ini for the spindle feed override and feed override, i noticed in one of your images that they did not appear to be setup
09:17 PM Lcvette: d-flo and hendrick ^^^
09:19 PM D-Flo[m]: Do I need those? My spindle speed is manual. I can throw them in there no problem just curious
09:19 PM Lcvette: It's manual?
09:20 PM Lcvette: Does it use a dial?
09:20 PM Lcvette: Ie potentiometer?
09:21 PM Lcvette: You probably want to do the feet override so you can speed it up or slow it down
09:21 PM Lcvette: If your current milk invigoration uses 0 to 10 volt potentiometer you can run those three wires right to the Mesa car to control your spindle speed and just set up the gear ratio
09:22 PM Lcvette: Mill configiration
09:24 PM Lcvette: * If your current mill configuration uses 0 to 10 volt potentiometer you can run those three wires right to the Mesa card to control your spindle speed and just set up the gear ratio
09:26 PM D-Flo[m]: It’s a VFD I’m going to connect it eventually lol... just haven’t gotten around to it! It’s not too big of a deal I have to manually switch the tools anyways and I can just set the rpm on the mill panel if it’s not sounding right
09:27 PM D-Flo[m]: Ok so this is weird update on the tools.
09:27 PM D-Flo[m]: I noticed that if I added a tool to the tool table and tried to recreate the problem with the new tool it all worked fine
09:28 PM D-Flo[m]: So I deleted my old tools and repopulate the table and it seems to be working
09:28 PM Lcvette: Hmmm... weird
09:29 PM Lcvette: Not sure i can fix that in the subroutine
09:29 PM Lcvette: Lol
09:29 PM Lcvette: Will have hazzy or turboss look into it
09:29 PM Lcvette: Maybe the were some bad formatted tools from before the updated tool table fix?
09:30 PM Lcvette: Did you use the old tool table.?
09:31 PM D-Flo[m]: Yah the tool table was from version 2.3
09:31 PM Lcvette: Ah
09:31 PM Lcvette: Delete it and let a new one be made
09:31 PM Lcvette: Then populate
09:31 PM D-Flo[m]: I did 😄 this makes me happy!
09:31 PM Lcvette: Hooray!
09:32 PM Lcvette: \o/
10:05 PM hazzy-m: excellent!
10:08 PM Lcvette: o/
10:18 PM hazzy-m: \o
10:19 PM * hazzy-m needs to work on the DRO entry
10:19 PM hazzy-m: and finish the ATC remap work
10:37 PM Lcvette: Hooray that will be awesome!
