02:13 PM dremeier[m]1: for the Vacuum is a need to have decimals. The range is from 0 to -1 bar. Also it is nessesary to reverse the bar. from right to left. Are you able to change the widget? TurBoss
02:14 PM TurBoss: yes
02:14 PM TurBoss: there is a wait
02:14 PM TurBoss: * there is a way
02:16 PM dremeier[m]1: 👍️
02:49 PM ewildgoose[m]: Evening all. I see you added a setting to configure the number of axes 3-5. Cool. However for me it doesn't reload that value at startup, ie I chose 4 axis in settings but it defaults to 3 axis view after restart? (It does reload and show 4 axis in settings though). Is this expected?
02:52 PM TurBoss: yes still a little bug
03:14 PM Lcvette: @ewildgoose:matrix.org: the persistent checkbox needs some work, but you can easily switch it to which axis count at least now
03:14 PM Lcvette: is on the list of things to fix

05:37 PM TurBoss: yo almot here
05:37 PM ewildgoose[m]: So I don't see a pin 7 output above?
05:38 PM ewildgoose[m]: If you have 3+ stepgens then pin 7 is a stepgen
05:39 PM Lcvette: i had 5 before and it wasn't complaining
05:39 PM ewildgoose[m]: Setting stepgen to 2 or less will turn the stepgen pins to normal outputs
05:39 PM Lcvette: i just changed from 5 to 4\
05:39 PM ewildgoose[m]: Sure but pin 7 is part of stepgen 3....
05:40 PM TurBoss: back
05:40 PM ewildgoose[m]: So you need to either use a different output pin or reduce stepgens so pin 7 becomes available
05:40 PM ewildgoose[m]: Can you see that in the table now?
05:40 PM ewildgoose[m]: The assignment I mean
05:41 PM Lcvette: no i never understood the hal stuff
05:41 PM ewildgoose[m]: I beg your pardon. The numbering is from 0. So actually pin 7 is what we would call stepgen 4 if we numbered from 1. So you can set stepgens to 3 or less
05:42 PM Lcvette: why before was it at 5 stephgens and no issues
05:42 PM Lcvette: and now with 4 stepgens there is an issue?
05:42 PM TurBoss: let me check the error
05:42 PM ewildgoose[m]: Look at the table and the stepgens. Look to the right and you see the Chan.
05:42 PM ewildgoose[m]: On the left is the pin numbers
05:43 PM ewildgoose[m]: Presumably you got a different error. Not that there was no error?
05:43 PM TurBoss: @ewildgoose:matrix.org: do you know about signals?

08:00 PM TurBoss: pyformat.io check for float
08:00 PM dremeier[m]1: I gues it can be merged, works great!
08:00 PM TurBoss: currently only works with floats
08:01 PM TurBoss: dremeier: hehe no worries about any question
08:02 PM dremeier[m]1: 👍️
08:04 PM dremeier[m]1: just for info, as you said ```{:.1f} bar``` not working with last commit.
08:04 PM dremeier[m]1: If I understand you right, it has to be merged to get working?

08:06 PM dremeier[m]1: old or new?
08:06 PM Lcvette: dremeier: yes i learned the fo0rmatting
08:06 PM TurBoss: new
08:06 PM Lcvette: new formatting
08:06 PM Lcvette: to decode it
08:06 PM Lcvette: turboss what was the rule?

08:07 PM TurBoss: rule
08:07 PM TurBoss: ?
08:07 PM Lcvette: yes to understand the fo0rmat
08:07 PM Lcvette: the number is the number of characters including the decimal point
08:09 PM dremeier[m]1: will try to lean and understand, lol
08:11 PM Lcvette: if you go to the probing page and check the format in the property editor for the probe parameter inputs it gives you a good idea
08:11 PM Lcvette: thats where i go to remember the formatting
08:11 PM Lcvette: lol
08:12 PM Lcvette: 0 = {:0.0f}
08:12 PM Lcvette: 0.0 = {:0.1f}

08:24 PM Lcvette: it will always aim at the tool tip
08:24 PM Lcvette: i had planned on using just a lone edit in probe basic for any minor aim tweaking
08:25 PM Lcvette: offsetting
08:25 PM TurBoss: ah

08:25 PM TurBoss: * fine tune?
08:25 PM Lcvette: yes just to fine tune for each machines distance/pressure/gravity etc
08:25 PM Lcvette: so calulation will be for a straight line
08:26 PM Lcvette: but if low pressure and far away makes a big downward arc then offset can be used to adjust to intersect the tool correctly
08:26 PM Lcvette: easy to input and automatically is pulled into the subroutine calculation

10:05 PM Lcvette: ok
10:05 PM Lcvette: i used it
10:05 PM Lcvette: did it break something
10:05 PM Lcvette: :o
10:05 PM pcw_home: mesaflash --device 7i92 --addr 10.10.10.10 --fallback --reload
10:06 PM * TurBoss sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/VimjeGPLHjDYiLpopXtVgVYx >
10:07 PM TurBoss: pwmgen.0 is temporal
10:08 PM Lcvette: ok i was able to start and home the machine
10:08 PM TurBoss: great!
10:09 PM Lcvette: but when i tried to send it to position g54 g0 x14 y8 i get joint 0 following error
10:09 PM Lcvette: never happened before
10:09 PM Lcvette: but it homes fine
10:14 PM pcw_home: sudo wont hurt but only needed for PCI/PCIE etc
10:16 PM Lcvette: is there any reason i would get a joint following error with this new firmware where i never got before with the oold formwarte?
10:16 PM Lcvette: * is there any reason i would get a joint following error with this new firmware where i never got before with the oold firmware?
10:16 PM Lcvette: * is there any reason i would get a joint following error with this new firmware where i never got before with the old firmware?
10:17 PM Lcvette: and to return to the original firmware i just power cyclke the 7i92?
10:17 PM Lcvette: i want to test the old firmware again to see if its something i did maybe in wiring earlier today
10:17 PM pcw_home: are you using the 7I76 encoder input?
10:18 PM Lcvette: no
10:18 PM pcw_home: mesaflash --device 7i92 --addr 10.10.10.10 --fallback --reload for new
10:19 PM Lcvette: i use the 7i77 for encoder and for spindle drive control
10:19 PM pcw_home: mesaflash --device 7i92 --addr 10.10.10.10 --reload for old
10:20 PM Lcvette: ok mreloaded old and no joint following error
10:21 PM Lcvette: * ok reloaded old and no joint following error
10:21 PM Lcvette: so has to be something with the new firmware maybe?
10:21 PM Lcvette: or i didn't load it correctly?
10:21 PM pcw_home: you might compare the readhmid results
10:22 PM Lcvette: want a complete read?
10:22 PM Lcvette: ok
10:22 PM pcw_home: just the pinout basically

10:23 PM Lcvette: do this to use the new to get a reaad?
10:24 PM pcw_home: yes (if you wrote the new bitfile to the fallback area)

10:28 PM Lcvette: the onl;y difference i see is the pwmgens
10:29 PM Lcvette: thats shouldn't effect it should it?
10:29 PM Lcvette: * the only difference i see is the pwmgens
10:30 PM pcw_home: Yeah I dont seen an issue, what axis do you get following errors on?
10:30 PM Lcvette: jopint 0
10:30 PM Lcvette: * joint 0
10:30 PM pcw_home: stepgen axis?
10:31 PM Lcvette: i think so

10:33 PM Lcvette: version 3 thing maybe?
10:34 PM Lcvette: pcw_home
10:37 PM TurBoss: I have some more hal blend

10:43 PM pcw_home: ?
10:44 PM TurBoss: the signal generator
10:44 PM pcw_home: Joint0 does not use an encoder
10:45 PM pcw_home: if thats the actual hal file you are using

10:45 PM Lcvette: would version 3 and 4 thing be it maybe?
10:45 PM Lcvette: new is on top old is on bottom
10:45 PM TurBoss: pcw_home: yes plus the software pwmgens
10:45 PM pcw_home: Joint 0 does not use an encoder
10:46 PM pcw_home: (if thats you actual hal file )
10:46 PM Lcvette: it is
10:46 PM Lcvette: im not using feedback
10:47 PM Lcvette: tried and the drives werte too slow i think
10:47 PM Lcvette: made it very rouch on movements
10:47 PM Lcvette: i dunno
10:48 PM Lcvette: is that version thing the software version? for using the mpg inputs on the io?
10:48 PM Lcvette: i do use those
10:49 PM pcw_home: no it has to do with encoder options (that you are not using)
10:49 PM Lcvette: ok
10:49 PM Lcvette: so i just go back to the old version
10:49 PM Lcvette: not sure what it could be
10:50 PM Lcvette: maybe the pwm is interfering with something?
10:50 PM Lcvette: although would it even be putting anything out?
10:51 PM pcw_home: you should be able to test the PWM with the new file but the following error need to be investigated
10:51 PM Lcvette: no idea where to start
10:51 PM Lcvette: it only does it with the new firmware
10:51 PM Lcvette: lol
10:51 PM Lcvette: never saw it with the old been running the machine for months now
10:52 PM Lcvette: same hal file and everything
10:53 PM Lcvette: i do have the encoders wired to the 7i77
10:55 PM Lcvette: would that version 3/4 thing matter knowing that?
10:56 PM pcw_home: no
10:56 PM pcw_home: since you are not using encoders on joint 0
10:57 PM Lcvette: so the only change is the formware and i can cause the error with the new and remove it by going back to the old
10:57 PM Lcvette: i just tested it 3 times
10:58 PM Lcvette: it is 100% repeatable doing it with the old no errors
10:58 PM Lcvette: and everytime with the new
10:58 PM pcw_home: well its fairly mysterious, I just tested that bitfile here and no joint 0 errors
10:58 PM Lcvette: so im not sure what the problem could be
10:58 PM Lcvette: me either
10:59 PM Lcvette: but if nothing is broken with the old firmware, then what fix would i be looking for even..lol
10:59 PM Lcvette: oh well
11:05 PM Lcvette: do i need to do anything to set the old firmware as the one to use?
11:09 PM Lcvette: pcw_home: i did more testing in the new file
11:10 PM Lcvette: if i slow down the max speed on the slider it doesn't error if i turn it up it doesn't matter what axis i move it gives a joint following error for that axis
11:10 PM Lcvette: is there a way to try the version 3?
11:10 PM Lcvette: in the new file?
11:12 PM pcw_home: The error is not related to encoders
11:12 PM Lcvette: humor me?
11:13 PM pcw_home: if you were using encoder feedback that would be worth checking
11:13 PM Lcvette: it sure seems like the encoders are doing something since i can slow things down and it not error
11:13 PM Lcvette: i do whave the encodeers wired in to the mesa
11:13 PM Lcvette: 7i77
11:14 PM Lcvette: its the only difference
11:17 PM * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/RDdKSVBnVJbcfwCJdfKKEHpg >
11:17 PM pcw_home: ahh you using encoders: net x-encpos-fb => joint.0.motor-pos-fb
11:17 PM Lcvette: /o\
11:18 PM Lcvette: you had me wire them and add that stu8ff when we were tuning them 2 years ago
11:18 PM Lcvette: lol
11:19 PM Lcvette: should i not be?
11:19 PM pcw_home: so you are using open loop stepgens but FE comes from the encoder (not sure thats guaranteed to work)
11:19 PM Lcvette: im not sure what capacity they are being used in
11:19 PM Lcvette: me either
11:19 PM Lcvette: you set it up
11:19 PM Lcvette: lol
11:19 PM Lcvette: you probably don't remember
11:20 PM Lcvette: it was a lot of fun
11:20 PM pcw_home: you could uncomment the line above and try again
11:20 PM pcw_home: and comment out the encoder line
11:21 PM pcw_home: net x-pos-fb => joint.0.motor-pos-f ##net x-encpos-fb => joint.0.motor-pos-f

11:23 PM pcw_home: you need to comment out net x-encpos-fb => joint.0.motor-pos-fb
11:24 PM Lcvette: which one?
11:24 PM pcw_home: all
11:25 PM pcw_home: well theres only one
11:26 PM pcw_home: that is you want only net x-pos-fb => joint.0.motor-pos-fb

11:27 PM Lcvette: how about the velocity one?
11:27 PM Lcvette: and do i uncomment the:
11:27 PM Lcvette: ```
11:27 PM Lcvette: #net x-pos-fb => joint.0.motor-pos-fb
11:29 PM pcw_home: remove the #
11:30 PM * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/lrvpuKtSykxmCKNNuSXDOBRx >
11:30 PM Lcvette: ok so this is what i have now
11:30 PM Lcvette: test?
11:31 PM pcw_home: the velocity fb connection is harmless since its not connected to the PID
11:31 PM Lcvette: \o/
11:31 PM Lcvette: no joint following error!
11:32 PM Lcvette: hurray!!!
11:32 PM Lcvette: :D
11:33 PM Lcvette: ok
11:33 PM Lcvette: so now how do i make the new firmware stick?
11:33 PM Lcvette: since it is in the fallback place?
11:34 PM Lcvette: its currnetly loaded
11:34 PM Lcvette: ```
11:34 PM Lcvette: mesaflash --device 7i92 --addr 10.10.10.10 --fallback --reload
11:34 PM Lcvette: pcw_home: ^^^
11:36 PM pcw_home: write its as the primary config, (and maybe write the old bitfile as the fallback)
11:37 PM Lcvette: the old one i think is just the stock one in the zip file
11:37 PM pcw_home: yeah probably
11:37 PM Lcvette: so is it necessary to write the old one still with that inmind?
11:37 PM Lcvette: i can
11:37 PM Lcvette: just need to find and download it
11:38 PM Lcvette: mesaflash --device 7i92 --addr 10.10.10.10 --write /home/xk7130/Downloads/7i92_7i77_7i762pd.bit
11:41 PM pcw_home: no unless you want to go back to it
11:41 PM Lcvette: ok
11:41 PM Lcvette: so i have the new one written to both the new and fallback now
11:41 PM Lcvette: thats ok?
11:41 PM Lcvette: i did the reload
11:41 PM Lcvette: now i need to power cycle correct?
11:42 PM pcw_home: mesaflash --device 7i92 --addr 10.10.10.10 --reload
11:42 PM pcw_home: same as a power cycle
11:42 PM Lcvette: ok so im locked and loaded and no more joint following errors
11:42 PM Lcvette: hurray!
11:42 PM Lcvette: turboss do you have something you want me to test?
11:42 PM Lcvette: :D
11:43 PM TurBoss: no
11:43 PM pcw_home: and you should have 2 pwmgens (00 and 01)
11:43 PM Lcvette: ok
11:43 PM Lcvette: then i will shut it down
11:43 PM Lcvette: i have everything set up fort when you want me to try testing something!
11:43 PM Lcvette: "D
11:43 PM Lcvette: * :D
11:43 PM pcw_home: you should be able to test the pwm/servo with just halcmd
11:43 PM Lcvette: ok going back to dev
11:43 PM Lcvette: thank you peter!!
11:44 PM pcw_home: nite
11:44 PM Lcvette: nite!
