06:22 AM jthornton: morning
09:19 AM Lcvette: morning
11:24 AM Lcvette: Lcvette: received a box full of the pendants from china
11:24 AM Lcvette: ... and is affraid to go on the porch to get it
11:24 AM Lcvette: :o
11:24 AM Lcvette: corona virus fear is high
11:24 AM Lcvette: the struggle is real
11:24 AM Lcvette: :o
11:25 AM Lcvette: /o\
12:14 PM D-Flo[m]: I just published a YouTube video on the CNC conversion of my PM-833TV. I gave a shout out to Probe Basic on it. Check it out if you guys are interested: https://youtu.be/qDr81TccvMY
12:44 PM Lcvette: D-Flo: those spring type couplers on a machine that size are no good
12:45 PM Lcvette: grab some of the double disk type couplers they are way better and do not introduce backlash. also you should have gone with the double ballnuts, single nuts have a good bit of backlash
12:46 PM Lcvette: may be good to contact the kit supplier and ask about upgrading the nuts, will make your life much easier in the future when chasing down tolerance issues
12:47 PM Lcvette: good looking machine though!
12:50 PM D-Flo[m]: Funny you mentioned those couplers! Those are actually not currently on the machine. Those nema 34s had a 1/2” shaft and the ball screw was 10mm. I couldn’t for the life of me find the double disk type couplers that would arrive within a month
12:50 PM D-Flo[m]: Because of the cornavirus
12:51 PM D-Flo[m]: I have them on the machine now
12:51 PM Lcvette: good call!
12:51 PM Lcvette: i also have a converted G0704 that ive run for over a decade now
12:51 PM Lcvette: so ive been through about all of the little nuances of cncing a manual machine
12:52 PM Lcvette: its gone through a series of upgrades and tweaks to get just right
12:52 PM Lcvette: and now it makes fantastic parts with gorgeous surface finishes
12:53 PM Lcvette: hey how is the latency on that nuc?
12:53 PM Lcvette: D-Flo: ^^^
12:54 PM D-Flo[m]: Without the WiFi on <12000
12:54 PM D-Flo[m]: With the WiFi on unusable
12:55 PM Lcvette: ah
12:56 PM Lcvette: the HP Elite 8300 USDT core i5 boxes have phenominal latency figures even with wifi on and are pretty cheap.. between $50-90
12:56 PM Lcvette: they works great with the preempt rt kernel
12:56 PM Lcvette: under 15k with a big load on them
12:57 PM Lcvette: also the latest release of PB has all the new touch off stuff implemented for tool radius offset compensation
01:01 PM Lcvette: D-Flo: you wil also quickly find that flood coolant and an enclosure is a fantastic upgrade for part process reliability and part finishes
01:04 PM D-Flo[m]: Yah an enclosure is really needed... facing operations send the chips flying across my garage. I am going to weld something up in the future. I just needed the mill working to churn out a couple small parts for a business venture I’m working on. I also really want a power draw bar and some TTS type holders. This is an addictive and expensive hobby!
01:05 PM Lcvette: power drawbars make life very easy!
01:06 PM Lcvette: and yes machining without an ecnlosure will make shop a disaster
01:06 PM Lcvette: you ca shut off some of the backplot things if you want
01:07 PM Lcvette: i find it to be a bit distracting so i have probe basic start up with everything turned off in the backplotter and then if i need to check something i can always turn it on under the plot tab on the right
01:08 PM * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/pTDEvKMjJsToQsKYyEfKWhCH >
01:08 PM Lcvette: just add that to your ini file
01:08 PM Lcvette: False is turned off and True is turned on
01:12 PM * TurBoss sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/lLnFbozpHKselksLoyfGJzPk >
01:17 PM D-Flo[m]: Oh that’s nice! That would be cleaner thanks man
01:32 PM dremeier[m]: what happens on your Mesa-card if you press the e-stop btn. Does the outs go off?
01:44 PM pcw_home: thats up to the hal file
01:47 PM dremeier[m]: what has to be in the hal to switch off all or certain pin on e-stop?
01:47 PM dremeier[m]: I´ve 32 outs so I can´t add and2 funktion to each pin
01:50 PM pcw_home: I guess it depends on whether you want to disable all I/O or not
01:50 PM dremeier[m]: for all I/Os then
01:51 PM pcw_home: Normally you would disable a few critical outputs (and for example axis drive/spindle disable should be done in hardware, not software)
01:55 PM pcw_home: If these few critical outputs come from LinuxCNC, they would be disabled by estop already (drive enables. spindle enable, coolant etc etc)
02:04 PM dremeier[m]: Ok, I see, so there is no more safty relevant options then these special motion and iocontrol pins. I was on mach3 before and there all pins goes low on e-stop. Also not the best but safe.
06:06 PM hazzy-m: stints
06:06 PM hazzy-m: lol
06:07 PM hazzy-m: wrong window
06:17 PM jthornton: hazzy-m, got my 3/4 Highland resaw blade in today
06:50 PM hazzy-m: jthornton: sweet!
08:39 PM Lcvette: Turboss did you play with servos today?
08:39 PM Lcvette: I worked on wiring
08:40 PM Lcvette: I'm changing out the 3amp 5v suply for a 10amp
08:42 PM Lcvette: Supply
09:29 PM hazzy-m: nice
10:36 PM Lcvette: hazzy: party animal tonight
