07:43 AM Lcvette: Morning
08:28 AM Lcvette: TurBoss (@TurBoss:matrix.org): what's crackin
08:28 AM TurBoss: not much
08:29 AM Lcvette: You playing with servos?
08:29 AM TurBoss: no
08:29 AM Lcvette: Sleeping
08:29 AM TurBoss: nah just awake
08:29 AM Lcvette: Me too
08:29 AM Lcvette: Getting ready to have breakfast
08:30 AM Lcvette: Letting the coffee start to work
08:31 AM Lcvette: Then need to measure some new drills and taps

09:06 AM TurBoss: look what I found
09:22 AM Hendrik[m]: hm maybe i should try the development version, toolsetting does not work either 😦
09:22 AM Lcvette: \o/
09:23 AM Lcvette: TurBoss: you have a servo?
09:23 AM Lcvette: :o
09:23 AM Lcvette: hurray!
09:23 AM * Hendrik[m] uploaded an image: Screenshot_2020-02-29_16-16-14.png (243KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/jauriarts.org/gReBoMcxCrSiJQDBGVqgSdZL >
09:23 AM Hendrik[m]: clicking on M6 G43 is doing nothibng
09:24 AM Hendrik[m]: clicking on M6 G43 is doing nothing
09:24 AM Lcvette: did you save and reload the tool table?
09:25 AM Hendrik[m]: yes
09:25 AM Lcvette: what version do you have?
09:25 AM Lcvette: is this in sim?
09:25 AM Lcvette: or on a machine?
09:26 AM Lcvette: you need a diameter for the tool
09:26 AM Lcvette: you also need to have the subroutines setup
09:26 AM Lcvette: * you also need to have the subroutines in your current config folder and the path to them must be specified in the ini
09:27 AM Hendrik[m]: i used the installer, so no development version of probe_basic
09:27 AM Lcvette: ok
09:27 AM Hendrik[m]: writing M6 T2 works fine in MDI
09:27 AM Lcvette: are you running the probe_basic sim or an atc sim?
09:27 AM Hendrik[m]: probe_basic
09:27 AM Hendrik[m]: this is my actual config: https://github.com/HendrikRoth/hildegard/
09:29 AM Hendrik[m]: the subroutines folder is linked in my ini file
09:29 AM Lcvette: your subroutines folder is out of dat
09:30 AM Lcvette: you need to copy over the latest subroutines
09:30 AM Lcvette: you must have upgraded and not copied the subroutine folder over when you upgraded
09:31 AM Hendrik[m]: so should i go for the complete dev. version?
09:32 AM Lcvette: no
09:32 AM Lcvette: you just have outdate subs
09:32 AM Lcvette: you are missing the latest subs for the tool change button
09:32 AM Hendrik[m]: https://github.com/kcjengr/probe_basic/tree/master/config/probe_basic/subroutines so just using them
09:33 AM Lcvette: they should install to the linuxcnc config under probe_basic
09:34 AM Lcvette: with the installer
09:35 AM Hendrik[m]: ah ok now it works 🙂
09:35 AM Hendrik[m]: thank you 🙂
09:35 AM Lcvette: yup
09:36 AM Lcvette: things are still being developed so when you do an update, you need to make sure the latest subs are copied over to your prsonal config file
09:36 AM Hendrik[m]: i have another question about the electronic touch off on the offsets page
09:37 AM Hendrik[m]: "set tool toch off position" button.. do i just move my actual tool to my touch plate and then click the button?
09:37 AM Hendrik[m]: or do i have to set its height in Z?
09:39 AM Lcvette: you need to set the tool touch off position first by jogging to your touch plate location. to be safe you start with the z axis in the home position and make sure the Z MAX TRAVEL setting is big enough that the tool tip can travel to the touch plate
09:39 AM Lcvette: * sekl
09:40 AM Hendrik[m]: and then i just move tool 1 to the touch off plate so it hits it and then click the button to set its position?
09:41 AM Lcvette: you need to set the tool touch off position first by jogging x and y to your touch plate location, z for safety and to start should be in the home position, then press the "set tool touch off position button". to be safe you start with the z axis in the home position
09:41 AM Lcvette: this stores the location in G30
09:41 AM Lcvette: but i think the tool touch off in that version is not yet completed
09:41 AM Lcvette: i have a more completed version that needs to be released soon
09:43 AM Hendrik[m]: ok this kinda works, without of the exception that i get the error "prove move on line 22 would exceed joint 2's negative limit" ... maybe because i have t1 definied with the length 0?
09:43 AM Hendrik[m]: ok this kinda works, without of the exception that i get the error "probe move on line 22 would exceed joint 2's negative limit" ... maybe because i have t1 definied with the length 0?
09:44 AM Lcvette: what probe basic version are you in?
09:45 AM Lcvette: no can be 0 length for probing
09:50 AM Lcvette: G53 G0 X#<tool_touch_x_coords> Y#<tool_touch_y_coords>
09:50 AM Lcvette: this is line 22
09:50 AM Lcvette: so did you jog to the touch plate and set the position with the button?
09:50 AM Lcvette: they should appear i the dros below
09:51 AM Lcvette: you cannot set them by typing into them
09:51 AM Lcvette: they must be set by jogging the machine to position and pressing the set button
09:53 AM Hendrik[m]: where can i check my probe basic version?
09:54 AM Lcvette: go to the probe basic folder, open the maintenance tool icon and it will pop up a launcher/installer with the version number
09:54 AM Lcvette: when done, just click quit
09:54 AM Hendrik[m]: 0.2.1

10:56 AM Lcvette: turboss ^^^
10:56 AM Lcvette: looks vtk related?
10:57 AM Lcvette: pops up twice once for each backplotter
10:57 AM TurBoss: no file loaded
10:57 AM Lcvette: if i hit ignore it continues on to load the tool
10:58 AM Lcvette: hmm wonder why it is not loading the blank file at startup anymore
11:01 AM Lcvette: turboss:
11:01 AM Lcvette: OPEN_FILE = ~/dev/probe_basic/example_gcode/blank.ngc
11:01 AM Lcvette: this is why i think
11:01 AM Lcvette: bad path
11:02 AM pcw_home: on a 5I25+7I76/7I76E you would use firmware that has a PWM output, usually on the stepgen 4 step output
11:02 AM Lcvette: pcw_home: ah
11:03 AM Lcvette: what firmware?
11:06 AM pcw_home: what hardware do you have?

11:43 AM Lcvette: so for the wiring so i undrstand it correctly, red and brown go to the meanwell 5v power supply 5v and 0v and orange goes to step4 on the 7i76?
11:43 AM Lcvette: pcw_home ^^^
11:44 AM Lcvette: Red to Meanwell 5v power supply
11:44 AM Lcvette: Brown to Meanwell 0v power supply
11:44 AM Lcvette: Orange to Mesa 7i76 Step4 PWM gen
11:44 AM Lcvette: ?
11:45 AM pcw_home: The 5V should be the same 5V running the 7I76 or at least a common ground
11:46 AM Lcvette: ok
11:47 AM pcw_home: and the STEP or DIR + outputs should be used (since RC servos use active high PWM)
11:49 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: VectorImage_2020-02-29_124204.jpg (103KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/kUgqYcQeajfbPtiwXiwHIDpq >
11:49 AM Lcvette: i power both the 7i76 and 7i77 through the 7i92
11:49 AM Lcvette: Is that ok?
11:50 AM pcw_home: Should be OK
11:50 AM Lcvette: So I will tap red and brown from same power supply as 7i92
11:50 AM Lcvette: And step+ for orange?
11:50 AM pcw_home: yes
11:54 AM Lcvette: Perfect
12:42 PM TurBoss: back
01:15 PM Lcvette: o/
01:20 PM Lcvette: TurBoss (@TurBoss:matrix.org): did you install the firmware?
01:21 PM TurBoss: mine is 6i25
01:21 PM Lcvette: Oh
01:21 PM Lcvette: pcw_home can same one be used with 6i25?
01:22 PM Lcvette: Turboss 6i25 and 7i76?
01:22 PM TurBoss: yes
01:22 PM Lcvette: 7i76D?
01:22 PM pcw_home: no, (Unless you want to brick the 6i25)
01:22 PM TurBoss: :)
01:23 PM Lcvette: Phwew good thing you didn't install turboss
01:23 PM pcw_home: but they can use the same source pinout file so its easy to make a 5I25/6I25 version
01:23 PM Lcvette: .../o\
01:24 PM Lcvette: TurBoss (@TurBoss:matrix.org): do you know how?
01:24 PM TurBoss: i have a vage idea...

01:51 PM Lcvette: Turboss do you think it would be a good idea to have a seprate hal file for this?
01:51 PM Lcvette: or is it even possible?
01:51 PM Lcvette: like the halfile for my mpg being seperate?
01:51 PM TurBoss: yes
01:51 PM Lcvette: great, i thnk that would be the best thing
01:51 PM Lcvette: that way anyone can use

02:34 PM Lcvette: thought i remembered something about that?
02:35 PM pcw_home: Maybe hardware issue, not sure
02:36 PM pcw_home: you might try:
02:36 PM TurBoss: machine works
02:37 PM TurBoss: oh it come up
02:37 PM TurBoss: after linuxcnc test
02:38 PM TurBoss: ok to flash
02:38 PM TurBoss: weee
02:38 PM TurBoss: is doing
02:38 PM Lcvette: \o/
02:38 PM Lcvette: hurray!!
02:38 PM Lcvette: its not bricked
02:38 PM Lcvette: phwew
02:38 PM TurBoss: ```
02:38 PM TurBoss: 5 25 IOPort PWM 3 PWM (Out)
02:38 PM TurBoss: 6 26 IOPort PWM 2 PWM (Out)
02:39 PM pcw_home: you can recover a 6I25 from broken firmware (--recover option)
02:39 PM Lcvette: :o
02:39 PM Lcvette: you did it?
02:39 PM pcw_home: but not a 5i25...
02:39 PM Lcvette: thats good to know
02:39 PM Lcvette: i have 6i25's for my other machines
02:39 PM TurBoss: if went smoot
02:39 PM TurBoss: * if went smoth
02:39 PM Lcvette: fantastic turboss!! thank you Peter!!
02:40 PM TurBoss: thank you!
02:40 PM Lcvette: this is so cool
02:40 PM TurBoss: ok now I'll wire
02:40 PM Lcvette: im excited
02:40 PM pcw_home: if you are trying untested firmware you can: sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --fallback --write somebitfile.bit
02:41 PM pcw_home: and then sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --fallback --reload
02:42 PM pcw_home: so you write the test bitfile to the fallback area and the load the FPGA from the fallback area (so a power cycle will recover)
02:43 PM TurBoss: nice!
03:02 PM Lcvette: pcw_home: very cool!!
03:02 PM Lcvette: ok im about to run the last cycles on the machine to finish the housing for the coolant cannon
03:02 PM Lcvette: theni need to wire for testing and flash the new firmaware
03:02 PM Lcvette: hows it coming with you turboss?
03:03 PM TurBoss: jus powered the motor now i need to find the mesa pinout
03:04 PM pcw_home: pwmgen 0 should be Step4
03:04 PM pcw_home: (pwmgen 1 is dir4)
03:05 PM Lcvette: TB3 terminal 5
03:05 PM pcw_home: I was wrong about the duty cycle, its 5% to 10% for full range

03:09 PM Lcvette: pcw_home 5-10% that more better for resolution right?
03:10 PM pcw_home: I think my resolution numbers are correct (about 200)
03:10 PM pcw_home: (5% of 4096)
03:12 PM TurBoss: ok no kboom
03:12 PM Lcvette: no smoke?
03:12 PM Lcvette: :o
03:12 PM TurBoss: no :(

03:13 PM TurBoss: xD
03:37 PM CaptHindsight: a bit off topic here but how much work is it to convert a few pages of GUI in wxWidgets to QT?
03:38 PM CaptHindsight: I have to do more reading https://docs.wxwidgets.org/trunk/plat_qt_install.html
03:39 PM CaptHindsight: wxWidgets for Qt
03:43 PM TurBoss: for what I know you only need to replace the wstuff with qt one
03:49 PM TurBoss: is that for th opencv?
04:07 PM * TurBoss leaves the shop
04:32 PM Lcvette: How did it go turboss?
04:33 PM TurBoss: had visit
