07:48 AM hazzy-m: > if can only turn on vkb in yambl file that means no access is using the user installation?
07:48 AM hazzy-m: That's what the custom_config.yaml in the config for is for
07:48 AM hazzy-m: But I like what TurBoss did
07:50 AM TurBoss: morning hazzy
07:50 AM dremeier[m]: morning! I got the variables from ini to pull in a remap ngc ! yeah. As you said: just FEATURES = 4 or 30

09:25 AM TurBoss: no problem
09:31 AM TurBoss: I made prosgess with the installer automation
09:31 AM TurBoss: need a way to get tag versions from git over the CI
09:31 AM Lcvette: ok
09:32 AM dremeier[m]: After the last commit to qtpyvcp, the keyboard should work?
09:32 AM TurBoss: dremeier: you need a vcpcheckbock
09:33 AM TurBoss: * dremeier: you need a vcpcheckbox
09:33 AM TurBoss: I dont have access to dev
09:33 AM Lcvette: no keyboard is very broken still@
09:33 AM Lcvette: needs alot of work to be used
09:34 AM Lcvette: turboss, mike is here, slakwhere meet turboss
09:34 AM Lcvette: turboss meet slakwhere
09:34 AM TurBoss: hello!
09:34 AM Lcvette: turboss ask mike your installer question
09:34 AM slakwhere[m]: Morning guys
09:34 AM Lcvette: morningo/
09:34 AM TurBoss: :)
09:34 AM slakwhere[m]: I'm here to see just how far out of my depth I really am here 😜
09:34 AM Lcvette: * morning o/
09:36 AM TurBoss: slakwhere: I have done this is still work in progress
09:36 AM TurBoss: https://github.com/kcjengr/installer
09:36 AM TurBoss: its built on a VPS using BuildBot
09:36 AM TurBoss: http://repository.qtpyvcp.com/
09:37 AM TurBoss: this is from where the installer fetchs the updates
09:37 AM TurBoss: its QtinstallerFramework based
09:38 AM TurBoss: https://doc.qt.io/qtinstallerframework/index.html
09:40 AM TurBoss: it runst and asks for a folder that needs o be fixed
09:40 AM TurBoss: then asks for modules to install and then asks for the root password to install the dependencies
09:40 AM TurBoss: next it install the python package and creates dome destop entries
09:41 AM TurBoss: *some
09:41 AM TurBoss: * it runst and asks for a folder that needs o be fixed
09:41 AM TurBoss: then asks for modules to install and then asks for the root password to install the dependencies
09:41 AM TurBoss: next it install the python package and creates some destop entries
09:41 AM TurBoss: it can be compiled localy with qt creator
09:42 AM TurBoss: so mostli the status is work in progress
09:42 AM TurBoss: * so mostly the status is work in progress
09:43 AM TurBoss: once installed it creates a MaintenanceTool to fetch update
09:45 AM slakwhere[m]: 👌
09:46 AM Lcvette: ok mike...go!
09:46 AM Lcvette: lol
09:47 AM TurBoss: duno...
09:47 AM TurBoss: I'm working mostly when I can
09:47 AM TurBoss: :P
09:48 AM Lcvette: ok so where did we leave off last night
09:49 AM slakwhere[m]: Chris I have a ton of stuff to finish in the shop before I can start trying to dive into the software side here.
09:49 AM TurBoss: I need to figure a way to get the git tag name wich contains the version
09:49 AM TurBoss: I can work on that
09:49 AM TurBoss: :D
09:50 AM Lcvette: ok
09:50 AM Lcvette: ok turboss
09:51 AM slakwhere[m]: Can I ask a dumb question? Why not just use git for the updates?
09:52 AM TurBoss: we have 2 install methods
09:52 AM Lcvette: how do you mean?
09:52 AM TurBoss: develop and usermode
09:52 AM TurBoss: git is what we use on development
09:52 AM Lcvette: trying to make probe basic easy to install an dupdate for mach3 converts who don't know linux
09:55 AM slakwhere[m]: Right. So to simplify user mode why not just have everything needed in a production ready git repo and fetch it? You can wrap the git fetch stuff in a script to validate checks n stuff.
09:55 AM slakwhere[m]: Is the installer actually making many decisions at install time? Or just mostly doing file copies?
09:56 AM TurBoss: installs dependencies on debian
09:56 AM slakwhere[m]: Is internet connectivity assumed to be mandatory?
09:56 AM TurBoss: no
09:57 AM slakwhere[m]: Ok well then that's where my question falls off the rails. 👍
09:57 AM TurBoss: ofline installers
09:57 AM slakwhere[m]: Right
09:57 AM TurBoss: but I mean.. that could be an option
09:58 AM TurBoss: we can distribute 2 installers
09:58 AM TurBoss: offline one with fixed version
09:58 AM TurBoss: online withe auto updates
09:58 AM TurBoss: also installer allows package selection
09:58 AM slakwhere[m]: PIVPN: Simplest way to setup a VPN
09:58 AM slakwhere[m]: https://www.pivpn.io/
09:59 AM slakwhere[m]: The pivpn installer is the simplest thing I've ever seen for a newbie. It's 1 command line, piping the install script to bash.
10:01 AM slakwhere[m]: This way the script is always up to date. You can do package repo updates, install packages, have logic, but it's all basically seamless to the user. Ask a couple questions if required but otherwise just let her rip
10:02 AM TurBoss: we can do it that way
10:03 AM TurBoss: https://rvm.io/
10:03 AM TurBoss: romething like this install
10:03 AM * nug45[m] sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/TEyOjunjtXvTZnIFAZiUdIOY >

10:04 AM slakwhere[m]: TurBoss thy will be way easier for new people for sure
10:06 AM nug45[m]: That message was an answer to a question i asked the other week no one on here new the answer ! just thought id share as its a router problem made me think i had only a few weeks ago changed it might be worth adding to the manual so other people can have the info thanks mike
10:14 AM TurBoss: I have to run
10:15 AM Lcvette: ok
10:15 AM Lcvette: turboss, do you know where the vkb files went?
10:15 AM Lcvette: i cannot find them
10:15 AM TurBoss: yes give me a sek
10:15 AM Lcvette: found never mind
10:15 AM Lcvette: they are in dialogs folder
10:17 AM TurBoss: ok
10:17 AM TurBoss: bye
10:18 AM Lcvette: thanks tubross!

11:08 AM hazzy-m: JT-Shop: I think it would be a good idea to add the port to the keyserver URL in the docs, as this problem keeps cropping up `sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keys.gnupg.net:80 --recv-key E0EE663E`
11:08 AM Lcvette: o/
11:08 AM Lcvette: hidey ho Hazzy
11:08 AM Lcvette: :D
11:08 AM Lcvette: im working on the vkb
11:09 AM Lcvette: i mae it with bigger buttons
11:09 AM Lcvette: 60x60
11:09 AM Lcvette: seems better
11:09 AM hazzy-m: nice !
11:09 AM Lcvette: and added a line edit to the top
11:09 AM Lcvette: i swear this worked at some point but now it is not working
11:10 AM Lcvette: and the vkb is missing a bunch of formatting i had done with colors
11:10 AM Lcvette: not sure if you remember that
11:10 AM Lcvette: the keys were in color zones to make it easier to visually navigate'
11:10 AM Lcvette: not sure why the formatting has been lost
11:12 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: mdi_keypad.png (23KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/HKdZYnLQSlhhVVyhPrdfYwXH >
11:26 AM Lcvette: hazzy i see where i made button groups in the designer for the vkb's
11:26 AM Lcvette: and named them with the color formatting
11:27 AM Lcvette: but i can't remember how that formatting was applied
11:27 AM hazzy-m: Lcvette: I will get you the old qrc and qss files, sek
11:27 AM Lcvette: did the vkb's have their own qrc and qss files?
11:27 AM hazzy-m: I deleted them by accident, since I forgot they were used by the VKB
11:27 AM Lcvette: or were they shared with probe basic's?
11:27 AM hazzy-m: no, but they might should
11:28 AM Lcvette: yeah probably a good idea
11:28 AM Lcvette: that way they can be modified for whoevers color schemes independently
11:28 AM hazzy-m: actually, we should move your custom VKB files to the probe_basic repo to keep everything together
11:28 AM Lcvette: ok
11:28 AM Lcvette: want me to push these changes first?
11:29 AM Lcvette: if the qrc and qss files are from way back in the day it may be better for me to manually copy the required sections to the current qss and wrc files
11:29 AM hazzy-m: sure
11:30 AM Lcvette: im sure there have been a bunch of changes since
11:31 AM Lcvette: says im denied
11:31 AM Lcvette: :(

11:34 AM hazzy-m: you should be able to just coppy that into the QSS file
11:34 AM hazzy-m: oh lol
11:34 AM hazzy-m: change upstream to lcvett
11:35 AM hazzy-m: right click and set upstream
11:35 AM Lcvette: there was no lcvette
11:35 AM Lcvette: i pushed to oprigin
11:36 AM hazzy-m: hmm
11:37 AM Lcvette: origin had my icon on it
11:37 AM hazzy-m: you should have your own fork of qtpyvcp
11:37 AM hazzy-m: oh, then that should work

11:38 AM hazzy-m: strange
11:44 AM Lcvette: do you want to move the vkb's to probe basic
11:44 AM Lcvette: and i will continue editing there?
11:57 AM Lcvette: still here hazzy?
11:57 AM * hazzy-m crashed his PC
11:58 AM Lcvette: :o
12:04 PM Lcvette: vtk is pretty broken
12:04 PM Lcvette: lol
12:04 PM Lcvette: its doing wierd things
12:04 PM Lcvette: keys are acting like checked buttons
12:05 PM Lcvette: space bar won't work
12:05 PM Lcvette: i tried assigning it in the key assignment property but can't get it to work
12:05 PM Lcvette: and it does not deactivate on enter
12:05 PM Lcvette: not sure if that is because it needs to be moved to probe basic for everything to work or not?
12:06 PM Lcvette: get a gtk dialog error
12:06 PM Lcvette: mapped without transient parent
12:06 PM Lcvette: this si discouraged

12:16 PM Lcvette: get this error if i try and use the keyboard with the tool table entry
12:17 PM hazzy-m: me too
12:17 PM Lcvette: and when i hit ignore, probe basic shuts down completely with a critical error

12:18 PM Lcvette: hazzy is playing with vkb in probe basic
12:18 PM Lcvette: :D
12:18 PM Lcvette: \o/
12:19 PM hazzy-m: were you able to use the QSS I sent?
12:20 PM Lcvette: Yes pasted it at the end of current was and formatting returned but only when I start probasic in the designer its formatless
12:21 PM Lcvette: Thinking it needs to be linked from designer to the qss
12:22 PM Lcvette: And is there a way to assign which vkb opens for each lineedit?
12:22 PM hazzy-m: yes
12:22 PM hazzy-m: you can set the inputType type property on individual widgets
12:22 PM Lcvette: I probably need to make a list of things huh
12:23 PM hazzy-m: add the inputType dynamic string property and set it to one of default, int or float
12:23 PM Lcvette: or maybe better yet would be to have a button on each vkb to switch between the two types and have a default setting in each line edit
12:25 PM Lcvette: i thinki the mdi keyboard would be easier for alot of the boxes but for special calls etc in the mdi line may need to the full keyboard
12:25 PM Lcvette: and the tool table would need the full keyboard probably for entering tool data
12:25 PM Lcvette: words
12:25 PM hazzy-m: yeah
12:26 PM hazzy-m: it should be smart enough to know which keyboad for with type of entry though
12:26 PM Lcvette: i agree
12:26 PM hazzy-m: like spinboxes would only need a keyboard that can enter numbers
12:28 PM Lcvette: yeah for number only boxes i could make a number vkb
12:28 PM Lcvette: could really make this sweet
12:29 PM Lcvette: im trying to understand the inputType thing you wrote
12:29 PM Lcvette: do i need to create the property inputType
12:30 PM Lcvette: with the green plus button at the top of the property editor?

12:33 PM Lcvette: hazzy ^^^
12:33 PM Lcvette: how do i define which keyboard is called now?
12:35 PM hazzy-m: enter the name
12:35 PM Lcvette: do i just put the keyboard name in there?
12:35 PM hazzy-m: as they are defined in the yaml file
12:35 PM hazzy-m: yes
12:35 PM Lcvette: beautimus
12:35 PM hazzy-m: default, int, float, mdi etc

12:36 PM Lcvette: ?
12:36 PM Lcvette: it does not seem to have the different keyboards listed
12:36 PM Lcvette: add that to the pb yaml?
12:37 PM hazzy-m: you can use any if the names defined in the YAML
12:37 PM hazzy-m: so you can add as many custom VKBs as you like
12:37 PM Lcvette: to probe)basic.yaml
12:37 PM hazzy-m: its already defined in the default yaml file that is always loaded
12:37 PM Lcvette: ?
12:37 PM hazzy-m: but you can add more in your probe_basic yaml
12:38 PM * hazzy-m sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/djVhGFWswwbIrqbRjYvZVygM >
12:38 PM hazzy-m: like that, assuming my_vkb was a special one
12:38 PM Lcvette: so just add them in PB?
12:38 PM Lcvette: yaml file
12:38 PM hazzy-m: sure
12:39 PM Lcvette: which yaml are they already defined in?
12:39 PM Lcvette: im trying to find
12:39 PM hazzy-m: yaml_lib/default_config.yaml in the QTPyVCP repo
12:40 PM Lcvette: ah yamllin
12:40 PM Lcvette: * ah yamllib
12:55 PM Lcvette: hahahaha i already made an int vkb
01:12 PM Lcvette: hazzy: do i need to copy the ui files into probe basic?
01:13 PM Lcvette: create a widgets folder etc?
01:15 PM hazzy-m: have you pushed all your changes?
01:15 PM hazzy-m: I can do it
01:15 PM Lcvette: no
01:15 PM Lcvette: not yet
01:15 PM hazzy-m: ok
01:15 PM hazzy-m: good
01:15 PM Lcvette: oh wait, i added the vkb to the PB yaml
01:15 PM Lcvette: and the error looks like a path error
01:16 PM hazzy-m: ok
01:16 PM Lcvette: i guess for now remove from pb yaml and let it pull from the default yaml?
01:24 PM Lcvette: i added the dynamic property string and entered the keyboard name
01:24 PM Lcvette: but im not getting any keyboards now
01:24 PM Lcvette: i changed the enabled to true in the default yaml file
01:24 PM Lcvette: no change
01:25 PM Lcvette: i must be doing something wrong
01:26 PM hazzy-m: what branch are you on?
01:26 PM Lcvette: fixed
01:26 PM Lcvette: missed a true
01:26 PM hazzy-m: should I put it on master or a VKB branch?
01:26 PM Lcvette: in the pb yaml
01:26 PM hazzy-m: a branch lol
01:26 PM hazzy-m: duh
01:27 PM Lcvette: dunno
01:27 PM Lcvette: whatever you think is best
01:27 PM Lcvette: probably on the vkb branch
01:27 PM Lcvette: until everything is sorted
01:27 PM Lcvette: should i push my changes?
01:27 PM Lcvette: before you move everything?

01:27 PM Not-c468: [02probe_basic] 07KurtJacobson pushed 031 commit to 03VKB [+4/-0/±1] 13https://git.io/Jv8zl
01:27 PM Not-c468: [02probe_basic] 07KurtJacobson 03d335297 - add PB specific virtual keyboards
01:27 PM Not-c468: [02probe_basic] 07KurtJacobson created branch 03VKB - 13https://git.io/JeDwL
01:28 PM Lcvette: can i add a dynamic property telling it what position to open at for each line edit?
01:28 PM hazzy-m: nice!
01:28 PM hazzy-m: no
01:28 PM hazzy-m: not yet at least
01:28 PM Lcvette: ok\
01:29 PM Lcvette: lol
01:29 PM travis-ci: kcjengr/probe_basic#288 (VKB - d335297 : Kurt Jacobson): The build passed.
01:29 PM travis-ci: Diff view : https://github.com/kcjengr/probe_basic/commit/d335297bd226
01:29 PM travis-ci: Build details : https://travis-ci.org/kcjengr/probe_basic/builds/651194367
01:29 PM Lcvette: im playing with colors still
01:30 PM hazzy-m: personaly i like the VKB always coming up in the same position since you get muscle memory and don't have to look at it
01:30 PM hazzy-m: but either way
01:30 PM hazzy-m: where did you make those changes?
01:30 PM Lcvette: then we need to connect the vkb line edit to the gui line edit so they display the same thing so you can see what you are typing
01:31 PM hazzy-m: you should be able to stash, pull my branch and unstach to apply them on top of what I did
01:31 PM hazzy-m: assuming you did it in the PB repo
01:31 PM Lcvette: mose are too the vkb and probe basic guis
01:31 PM Lcvette: ui files
01:31 PM Lcvette: i dunno
01:31 PM hazzy-m: if not just copy the file over and overwiret the ones I put
01:32 PM Lcvette: i did some in the qtpyvcp folders because that is where the ui files were
01:32 PM Lcvette: what do i need to do?
01:32 PM hazzy-m: ok, just copy the files you changed in QtPyVCP into the new virtual_keyboards folder I created
01:32 PM Lcvette: ok
01:32 PM hazzy-m: that will take care of those changes
01:33 PM hazzy-m: keep your changes to the porbe_basic ui
01:33 PM Lcvette: how about all the line edits i added the inputType to?
01:33 PM hazzy-m: I did not change anything there, so you can just copy and paste too I guess
01:33 PM Lcvette: probe basic ui
01:33 PM Lcvette: how do i paste without loosing my files?
01:34 PM Lcvette: don't io have to pull which changes my ui to your ui?
01:34 PM Lcvette: lcvette gets very confused how all that works
01:34 PM hazzy-m: want me to log in with anydesk?
01:34 PM Lcvette: yes p0lease
01:34 PM hazzy-m: ok

03:56 PM JT-Shop: hazzy-m, good idea, didn't even know the port helped
04:26 PM Roguish_shop: JT-Shop, you there????
04:49 PM Lcvette: hazzy ctrl+a works great for the line edits
04:49 PM Lcvette: what a much easier solution then trying to deal with highlighting things on the touch screen
04:51 PM JT-Shop: Roguish_shop, in and out
04:52 PM Roguish_shop: I'm running BP_v6..... I think I'm going to make some of the fonts a bit small.
04:52 PM Roguish_shop: also, how does the probing work?
04:52 PM JT-Shop: works well for me, at least the ones that I use left right and back
04:53 PM Roguish_shop: I see how to set the speeds and stuff. but how do ya start a probe routine
04:53 PM JT-Shop: press the button
04:55 PM Roguish_shop: will anything move before it's all homed?
04:57 PM JT-Shop: no
04:59 PM Roguish_shop: got my Kacey Musgraves station on Pandora....
04:59 PM Roguish_shop: with Gretchin Wilson too,
05:01 PM Roguish_shop: well, I touch the probe left button and no motion.....
05:04 PM JT-Shop: does it puke up an error?
05:05 PM JT-Shop: one thing I do need to add is the clear errors button
05:08 PM JT[m]: /me moves some keyboards out of the way so I can work on 6
05:11 PM JT[m]: Roguish_shop: the probe buttons are subcall buttons that call for example qtqy-left.ngc so if they are not in for example the subroutine directory the probe buttons will not do anything but it should puke up an error about file not found
05:12 PM JT[m]: hmm I do have a clear button... guess I need to pull on the mill lol
05:13 PM Lcvette: grrrr
05:13 PM Lcvette: lcvette cannot get the space bar in the virtual keyboard to work
05:23 PM Lcvette: jazzy, my gitkraken looks wierd and im affraid to push my commits like it is, may need your help again

05:43 PM Roguish_shop: JT-Shop, ok, added the subroutine directory to the subs in the .ini
06:01 PM Roguish_shop: is the path to the subroutines hardcoded? I shortened the directory name to subs from subroutines. and adds subs with a full path the subroutine_path in the rs274 section of the .ini
06:18 PM hazzy-m: Roguish_shop: that should work
06:18 PM hazzy-m: as long as the path points to the right place in your INI
06:19 PM hazzy-m: Lcvette: looks finbe
06:19 PM hazzy-m: just don't comment the .pickle file :)
06:19 PM hazzy-m: I'll add that to the ignore list
06:22 PM Roguish_shop: hazzy-m, hey, just picked up a few months of 4 days per week, at a decent hourly rate.
06:23 PM hazzy-m: Roguish_shop: fantastic!
06:23 PM hazzy-m: anything fun?
06:24 PM Roguish_shop: well, pretty much what i've been doing. the packaging company. they finally got some significant funding.
06:24 PM Roguish_shop: so now it's time to work...
06:25 PM Roguish_shop: still have my regular client/friend for the 5th week day....
06:25 PM Roguish_shop: just means i have to work. darn.
06:25 PM Roguish_shop: how's the folder going?
06:29 PM Lcvette: Still many issues
06:29 PM hazzy-m: good deal! how much more equipment do they need? Looked like some fairly sophisticated equipment
06:31 PM hazzy-m: very good, just can't keep up with demand, we're at over a year lead time again
06:34 PM hazzy-m: and we're short on techs, which is a huge problem. Most have not been to the office since early November. There all coming off the road and I'm going to to control and software training tomorrow, which they badly need
06:39 PM Roguish_shop: well. controls, any kind, are always good to know.
06:39 PM Roguish_shop: learn 1, you'll pick up lots. like cad programs.
06:40 PM hazzy-m: yes
06:41 PM Roguish_shop: especially will all the automation going on.
06:42 PM hazzy-m: we're starting to get into more and more fully automated lines, and we have almost nobody qualified to service them at the moment lol
07:03 PM roguish[m]: hazzy: well, there'll always be needing techs to fix stuff. and tech work is ok. lot less responsibility than design.
07:15 PM hazzy-m: yes, there is a huge shortage of skilled techs, at least in this area
07:19 PM hazzy-m: most of our guys come from air force flight line or nuclear subs backgrounds, and are excellent if they have either a procedure or have seem the machine before, but struggle with the control side and the unique machines
07:22 PM Tom_L: what controls do you use mainly?
07:22 PM hazzy-m: we just hired the first tech with an engineering background, and even though technically he has less experience he's already better than a lot of the guys
07:22 PM hazzy-m: B&R almost exclusively
07:23 PM hazzy-m: for PLCs and drives
07:24 PM hazzy-m: siemens simatic HMI for the automation PC
