12:47 AM Lcvette: CaptHindsight: it setup the wireless
12:47 AM Lcvette: During install
12:48 AM Lcvette: This is for connecting the 7i92 Mesa ethernet card
12:49 AM CaptHindsight: something about the magic of the debian installer....
12:49 AM CaptHindsight: if you skip setup during install i have never gotten it to work
12:49 AM CaptHindsight: not sure what magic it misses
12:50 AM CaptHindsight: instals are pretty quick
12:50 AM CaptHindsight: usually quicker than trying to fix
12:50 AM Lcvette: I'll give our a try
12:50 AM Lcvette: <Lcvette "I'll give our a try"> It
12:51 AM Lcvette: I'm beat headed to bed
12:51 AM CaptHindsight: if you have the time I'd try reinstalling but setup networking (wired) during the install and then later add the wireless
12:51 AM CaptHindsight: i only use debian while testing linuxcnc
12:53 AM Lcvette: Yeah i think i used wired last time i did it
12:53 AM Lcvette: try that tomorrow
12:53 AM Lcvette: It's 1:46am here and u gotta be up in 4 hours
12:54 AM Lcvette: I
12:54 AM CaptHindsight: only 12:46 here :)
12:54 AM CaptHindsight: hasta
12:54 AM CaptHindsight: have to be up by 11
12:54 AM Lcvette: I'd paryfor that hour right now
12:54 AM Lcvette: Lol

09:57 AM Lcvette: morning
10:38 AM Lcvette: hey guys running into an issue
10:39 AM Lcvette: i reinstalled eeverything with a wired conncetion and i can get probe basic to open but it says error File not open and takes forever to load. any thoughts, seems like i remember something about this but i can put my finger on what the resolution was
10:50 AM Lcvette: solved
10:50 AM Lcvette: im a dummy..lol i changed the name of the user and needed to change it in the ini file for all the paths
10:50 AM Lcvette: fixed and back up and running! hurray \o/
11:33 AM * Lcvette posted a file: language-linuxcnc-gcode.7z (2KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/zrkFYDNjCsfNTPHYHorexuhe >
11:47 AM jthornton: wow print('something {} {}'.format(var1, var2)) just went out the window for f-strings
11:52 AM hazzy-m: Lol
11:52 AM hazzy-m: What?
11:53 AM jthornton: https://realpython.com/python-f-strings/
11:54 AM jthornton: faster more powerful and able to leap tall buildings...
11:57 AM hazzy-m: Whoa! That's awesome!
12:00 PM jthornton: yea calling functions in a print is cool
12:10 PM Lcvette: does this mean what im learning on my oinline tutorial is useless?
12:11 PM Lcvette: :(
01:25 PM dremeier[m]1: I´m just reading the f'strg python thing, really great
01:27 PM dremeier[m]1: So did you already convert your py-code to 3.6?

03:27 PM CaptHindsight: Lcvette: so reinstall of Debian with wired Ethernet setup NOT skipped and everything is fine?
03:27 PM CaptHindsight: why is the Debian installer still broken?
03:36 PM Lcvette: CaptHindsight: ?
03:36 PM Lcvette: everything is working fine now
03:36 PM Lcvette: i used a wired connection during installation instead of the wireless and specified it setupthe wired connection and the magic worked
03:37 PM Lcvette: i had another issue but that is only because i changed the user name during installation and forgot to update the paths in the ini file
03:37 PM Lcvette: but i resolved that after some pondering of what i had missed and now everything works great
03:37 PM Lcvette: i did have to fix the wireless etup though using skunkworks fix from the debian.org forum
03:38 PM Lcvette: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=131621&start=15
03:38 PM Lcvette: but that wa ssomething i had book marked before and once implemented wifi worked again as well, so im 100% back in business now
03:38 PM Lcvette: \o/
03:38 PM Lcvette: Hurray!
03:41 PM CaptHindsight: for some reason if you skip the setup of Ethernet during the install trying to set it up later never works
03:41 PM Lcvette: yeah, i added that to my installation notes for future self
03:41 PM Lcvette: lol
03:41 PM Lcvette: and to help others
03:41 PM CaptHindsight: I'm not sure what magic Debian does during the install
03:42 PM CaptHindsight: it's been that way for years, i guess they don't find that to be a problem
03:42 PM Lcvette: yeah i dunno
03:42 PM Lcvette: i found lots of posts on how to resolve it, but for me none of them worked
03:43 PM Lcvette: but reinstall did
03:43 PM Lcvette: took 20 minutes to bang out this morning
03:43 PM Lcvette: no biggie
03:43 PM CaptHindsight: it's the only way we have found to fix it here as well
03:43 PM Lcvette: nice keeping the machine computer lean for situatuins like that
04:10 PM Lcvette: hazzy or turboss, im not sure what is happening, but that program loading bug is now coming up on programs that don't have the same tool loaded twice in a cycle
04:11 PM Lcvette: ive been trying to run parts today after getting the system back up and i can no only run a part that has 1 tool
04:11 PM Lcvette: im sure i don't have to explain why 1 tool per program when the program has 11 tools in it is an issue.. :(
04:11 PM Lcvette: it means that i would need to recam and post single tool programs
04:12 PM Lcvette: and it also means when this is fixed i will need to go back in and recam everything into multi tool programs
04:12 PM Lcvette: im at your mercy to fix this bug
04:13 PM Lcvette: please hazzy can you take a look at it, this is a terrible nasty one and turboss i think is hoping for some fearless leader assistance on it!

06:10 PM dremeier[m]1: Lcvette: did you get yout share folder running on the new machie installation? :-)
06:15 PM Lcvette: no, thats why i had to reinstall
06:15 PM Lcvette: the folder locked up the system
06:15 PM Lcvette: dremeier: ^^^
06:16 PM Lcvette: and nthen my panel dissappeared
06:16 PM Lcvette: i removed it from my systems and reinstalled linux on all my machines
06:16 PM Lcvette: im just going to share through riot in my probvate room
06:16 PM Lcvette: * im just going to share through riot in my private room
06:16 PM Lcvette: only take a second to upload and download the file
06:17 PM Lcvette: i may look at a wireless share hub
06:17 PM Lcvette: but i don't trust the nfs samba thing
06:18 PM Lcvette: i need the machine to be trouble free
06:19 PM Lcvette: i only need one way sharing anyhow
06:19 PM Lcvette: from windows to linux
06:19 PM Lcvette: so like i said its better to spend a few seconds sending files reliably then risk having to reinstall my system when im in a time crunch on a production run
06:20 PM Lcvette: be fine on a hobby machine
06:20 PM Lcvette: nature of the animal but not on a business machine
06:20 PM dremeier[m]1: ok, that is crazy, I guess you mixed up something. as I told you, here I´m using it for years, Industries are doing it the same way. So I pretty sure your problem has nothing to do with the share.
06:21 PM Lcvette: what could i have mixed up?
06:21 PM dremeier[m]1: NFS and SAMBA can be used on business machines, no problem at all.
06:21 PM Lcvette: all i did was copy files from one folder to another folder
06:22 PM Lcvette: \if that messes it up its not worth it
06:22 PM Lcvette: lol
06:22 PM Lcvette: thats the whole point of having it
06:23 PM dremeier[m]1: what you had done I don´t know, may be put in some system files and cut the connection, or your IP-adress has changed what ever.
06:23 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (52KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/MqzhdoeoUmmZFmAKXVYevDbA >
06:24 PM Lcvette: system fuiles?
06:24 PM Lcvette: what are you talking about?
06:24 PM Lcvette: only maching ngc files went in the folder
06:24 PM Lcvette: thats ALL i was using it for
06:24 PM Lcvette: ip address?
06:24 PM Lcvette: those were set static and i did not change anything
06:24 PM dremeier[m]1: but please do not blame the nfs or samba tools
06:25 PM Lcvette: well don't blame me
06:25 PM Lcvette: you are saying i did things i didn't do
06:25 PM Lcvette: lol
06:25 PM Lcvette: regardless i don't trust it
06:26 PM Lcvette: and i don't want to have to reinstall systems to fix it
06:26 PM dremeier[m]1: no I just assume , but I can´t lay on the sharing thing it self - in this point you can trust me
06:26 PM Lcvette: killed my nioght and morning
06:26 PM Lcvette: i do very much appreciate you helping me with it
06:26 PM Lcvette: im not putting any blame on you
06:27 PM Lcvette: in case it sounded like that
06:27 PM Lcvette: that was not how i intended it to come out
06:27 PM Lcvette: i am grateful for the time you put in it
06:28 PM dremeier[m]1: that was not how i intended it to come out - me either - so sorry for that
06:28 PM Lcvette: on a bright note, i learned that you need to have the wireed connection to make the mesa connection work right
06:28 PM Lcvette: during installation
06:29 PM Lcvette: so that will help any newcomers when they are setting up their systems
06:29 PM Lcvette: i will make a note in the docs recommending strongly a wired conection be used
06:30 PM dremeier[m]1: that for sure, never use a wireless connection on a system like that - never
06:35 PM Not-c468: [02probe_basic] 07Lcvette pushed 031 commit to 03master [+0/-0/±2] 13https://git.io/JvCDE
06:35 PM Not-c468: [02probe_basic] 07Lcvette 034e1f6f8 - update docs to use wired internet connection during linux install
06:35 PM Lcvette: updated the docs
06:36 PM dremeier[m]1: Just one example: for years I never use my internal HDD for data, just the Samba or NFS shares from my Server. So if I change my PC, I´ve all my Data in a sec. on a fresh pc. I´ve 25 TB on Data and can use them on any PC in my house, and share vid and pics with my familie. very usefull and easy and had never problems with it.
06:36 PM Lcvette: thats awesome
06:36 PM Lcvette: maybe something with the mesa setup or something i dunno
06:37 PM Lcvette: i just don't know how to trust it after today
06:37 PM Not-c468: [02probe_basic] 07KurtJacobson pushed 031 commit to 03gh-pages [+88/-0/±0] 13https://git.io/JvCDu
06:37 PM Lcvette: maybe i will set it up on a minor machine and see how things go

06:37 PM Lcvette: hazzy
06:37 PM Lcvette: you here?
06:37 PM dremeier[m]1: you don´t have to trust, I understand you! :-)
06:38 PM Lcvette: once something bites me once im not so easy to rely on it
06:38 PM Lcvette: whe my one mesa card acted funny i sent ALL of them in to be checked over
06:38 PM Lcvette: just the way i was raised
06:39 PM Lcvette: better to fix a issue up front then waste time trying to resolve it piece meal
11:13 PM MrHindsight is now known as CaptHindsight
