03:36 PM hazzy-m: JT-Shop: look at the bottom of the page!! https://qtpyvcp.kcjengr.com/install/index.html
03:37 PM hazzy-m: now we can see when a page was last updated and by whom
03:38 PM hazzy-m: well that was a fun little project, now to the hard but important stuff
03:39 PM Lcvette: \o//
03:39 PM Lcvette: Messages?? 😓
04:02 PM hazzy-m: yes
04:02 PM hazzy-m: working on them
04:04 PM JT-Shop: rut row, I can't hide any more
04:05 PM hazzy-m: haha
04:05 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, how you likin the thread mills by now?
04:07 PM JT-Shop: they have done a great job holding down that piece of paper that is under them... not had any time to try them. If the weather is ok I'm painting the house...
04:08 PM JT-Shop: they are all lined up by size and popularity...
04:08 PM Tom_L: i made a little wood holder for mine
04:08 PM JT-Shop: hazzy-m, we got a real post on the forum...
04:09 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/thread_mills/Threadmill_holder1.jpg
04:09 PM JT-Shop: now I need to double check that the van has everything I'll need tomorrow and then some
04:09 PM Tom_L: so i can keep em in the tubes
04:09 PM hazzy-m: Tom_L: nice!
04:10 PM JT-Shop: ah I was wondering, but now that makes sense... no v carved sizes?
04:10 PM Tom_L: the tubes are labelled
04:11 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/thread_mills/Threadmill_holder2.jpg
04:12 PM JT-Shop: nice
04:13 PM Tom_L: if i left em out, i'd surely break the heads off the little ones :D
04:23 PM JT-Shop: damn they are tiny
04:24 PM JT-Shop: anything under #10 is small
04:24 PM Tom_L: yup and some of yours are smaller than what i've got
04:24 PM Tom_L: i was a little nervous using the #10 the first time
04:51 PM JT-Shop: https://gnipsel.com/images/plc/plc-test-inputs.jpg
04:51 PM JT-Shop: finally got the last two push buttons put in the plc test box
04:52 PM Tom_L: nice little test box
04:53 PM Tom_L: i see your copper strips you made too
05:03 PM jthornton: I have another one I made years ago with some rat shack push buttons but they are so crappy it ain't funny
05:03 PM jthornton: yea the copper buss bars really cleaned up the inside
05:08 PM Tom_L: do you plug the chips into a test socket or something?
05:10 PM jthornton: https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/shopping/catalog/programmable_controllers/click_series_plcs_(stackable_micro_brick)/plc_units
05:10 PM jthornton: https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/shopping/catalog/programmable_controllers/click_series_plcs_(stackable_micro_brick)/plc_units/c0-01dr-d
05:10 PM jthornton: I usually use that one for simple projects
05:12 PM jthornton: https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/shopping/catalog/programmable_controllers/click_series_plcs_(stackable_micro_brick)/power_supplies/c0-01ac
05:12 PM jthornton: stack the power supply next to the PLC and your ready to run
05:12 PM Tom_L: huh
05:13 PM Tom_L: works for all the brands you program?
05:13 PM jthornton: the test panel is just switches and push buttons
05:13 PM Tom_L: are those OTP or eraseable?
05:13 PM jthornton: what?
05:13 PM Tom_L: the PLC chips
05:14 PM Tom_L: one time or eraseable
05:14 PM jthornton: you can program them as much as you like
05:14 PM Tom_L: so flash not window'd rom
05:14 PM Tom_L: i had some old chips that were UV eraseable
05:15 PM Tom_L: i don't think they do that much anymore
05:15 PM jthornton: I'm not sure what the memory is but you just plug the cable adapter into the USB port and fire up the software
05:15 PM Lcvette: Tom_L: what spindle taper do you have?
05:16 PM Tom_L: probably mt2 iirc
05:16 PM Tom_L: it's a sherline spindle
05:16 PM Lcvette: ah
05:16 PM Lcvette: what is the largest collet that it will take?
05:17 PM Tom_L: i've use .500 D tools i think
05:17 PM Tom_L: whatever that 3/4 threadmill is
05:17 PM Lcvette: but is that the largest collet the spindle taper will accept?
05:17 PM Tom_L: pretty sure that was 1/2"
05:18 PM Tom_L: they are threaded tool holders, not really collets
05:18 PM Lcvette: will it take a 3/4" diameter shank tool?
05:18 PM Tom_L: no
05:18 PM Lcvette: threaded?
05:19 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/thread_mills/Mill_Holder_Steel1.jpg
05:20 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/thread_mills/Boring_Mill_Holder.jpg
05:20 PM Tom_L: that was me cutting one out to fit the .500 shank threadmill
05:21 PM Lcvette: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BT30-Spindle-Unit-Power-Head-6000rpm-8000RPM-for-CNC-Engraving-Milling-Machine/124005859916
05:21 PM Tom_L: i've seen those
05:22 PM Lcvette: i get my BT30 tool holders for like $9/pc
05:23 PM Tom_L: for what i use it for, i'm not gonna buy all new tooling right now
05:24 PM Tom_L: and i'd have to make a drawbar etc for it
05:24 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: scv_153099128495039298266.jpg (125KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/waDgaPbLUlmSjPbvYHXOhKzb >
05:24 PM Tom_L: yeah i know
05:24 PM Lcvette: drawbar for bt30 of this type is super easy
05:25 PM Lcvette: its just a threaded bar
05:25 PM Lcvette: lol
05:25 PM Lcvette: threads into where the pull stud does
05:25 PM Tom_L: no air cylinder on it?
05:25 PM Lcvette: could make one of those air ratchet power drawbars
05:25 PM Lcvette: no that is a non power drawbar type
05:26 PM Lcvette: the drawbar threads into the top of the holder
05:26 PM Lcvette: like an r8 collet
05:26 PM Tom_L: yeah
05:26 PM Tom_L: i know what you're saying
05:26 PM Lcvette: but you can use an air ratchet on a slider for it
05:26 PM Lcvette: works tgreat
05:27 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure i've even had the mill on since the basement flood...
05:31 PM Lcvette: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stxUtoRe1AA
05:32 PM Lcvette: Tom_L: ^^^
05:32 PM Lcvette: super cheap and simple
05:32 PM Lcvette: could be sporting a real spindle with real tool holders and power drawbar!
05:33 PM Lcvette: \o/
05:34 PM Lcvette: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTUmjiJELko
05:35 PM Lcvette: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8CKZCZWwOI
05:35 PM Lcvette: that whole thing would be a weekend project to swap everything out and over and have a power drawbar!
05:35 PM Lcvette: :D
05:37 PM Lcvette: that ewould take your mill to the next level!
05:39 PM Lcvette: whole thing with spindle would be under $300
05:39 PM Lcvette: damn!!
05:52 PM JT[m]: hazzy: am I missing an import? This returns 0
05:52 PM * JT[m] sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/zsHbzsPXpmOuXWnLYfUmgRsn >
07:27 PM hazzy-m: JT: no plugins are loaded if you just import like that, since the plugins are determined by the yaml config files
07:28 PM hazzy-m: if you run that in the same interpreter as QtDesigner or as a running VCP that will print all the plugins
09:25 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
09:46 PM Lcvette: o/
09:46 PM Lcvette: hazzy: how's it going?
