08:56 AM Lcvette: morning
10:35 AM End-CNC: hi everyone
10:35 AM End-CNC: a question from a noob to a programmer
10:36 AM End-CNC: why do I need a merge branch for the latest git pull?
10:37 AM End-CNC: in the probe_basic folder
11:10 AM End-CNC: uhhhh, i see pop up messages :D
11:18 AM Lcvette: yes!
11:18 AM Lcvette: End-CNC: did you update to the latest?
11:20 AM Lcvette: be sure to copy over the latest config files to your linuxcnc config directory as well
11:20 AM Lcvette: for now this is the only method of updating, but that will be corrected inthe future once everything is sorted out with the gui
11:21 AM Lcvette: the latest version adds and moves some buttons in the lower main window
11:21 AM Lcvette: it moves the reference all button over above the other ref axis buttons in the dro box
11:21 AM Lcvette: and adds a zero all button
11:22 AM Lcvette: it also fixes the dancing fonts in the DRO's as i made the bebas kai numbers monospaced which should make them less distracting while trying to read
11:23 AM Lcvette: there were also some new subroutines added to work inside the gui to make moves safer with some rules for go to zero, go to home and go to g30 to make sure z moves or xy axis moves were always a safe method depending on where the tool/spindle was when called
11:24 AM Lcvette: so be sure you copy the latest probe_basic config file over to linuxcnc
11:27 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-23_12-20-56.png (174KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/skCCPTuVpLplstIjlMHgBfrh >
11:27 AM Lcvette: this should be the latest screen layout you have with the latest update
11:29 AM End-CNC: yes i saw the changes in the main screen :D
11:29 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-23_12-20-56.png (39KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/JbTmyigqlQRdxEFoqbNLPKpp >
11:29 AM End-CNC: that has was done with the git pull
11:30 AM Lcvette: great!
11:30 AM Lcvette: th amacros for the buttons is important
11:30 AM Lcvette: safety issue
11:30 AM Lcvette: without all axis move at the same time
11:30 AM Lcvette: which can break tools
11:30 AM End-CNC: the "merge branch" message came by
11:31 AM End-CNC: cd probe_basic
11:31 AM Lcvette: which?
11:31 AM End-CNC: git pull
11:31 AM End-CNC: ah, wait a minute
11:32 AM Lcvette: did you make changes?
11:32 AM Lcvette: may be from a changed file causing a conflict when pulling
11:33 AM End-CNC: ah, okay
11:33 AM Lcvette: only files in the linuxcnc config folder should be changed unless you want to create your own fork to work on probe basic
11:35 AM Lcvette: files such as tool_table etc even can cause an issue in the probe_basic folder
11:35 AM Lcvette: i was seeing that message myself
11:35 AM End-CNC: merge branch 'master' of https://github.com/kcjengr/probe_basic is the message
11:37 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-23_12-30-55.png (29KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/izXMOeblDLFtMcZcWQOHORzM >
11:37 AM Lcvette: once updated this is what you should be seeing when you dod a git pull in the probe_basic directory
11:43 AM End-CNC: that's what i did but i saw the merge message ^^
11:44 AM Lcvette: hmmm
11:45 AM Lcvette: how about now?
11:45 AM Lcvette: still same messege?
11:45 AM Lcvette: its odd that you can see the new screen if you have an error
11:45 AM End-CNC: okay, now problem ;) I installed it new XD
11:46 AM Lcvette: ?
11:46 AM End-CNC: as described in point 6
11:47 AM Lcvette: oh you did another full clean install?
11:48 AM End-CNC: no, only from point 6
11:48 AM End-CNC: i make a backup from the probe_basic folder
11:49 AM End-CNC: and then i followed point 6 and 7;)
11:50 AM End-CNC: now i have a git pull as i expected O:3
11:50 AM Lcvette: great!
11:50 AM Lcvette: so your qtpyvcp also got updated?
11:50 AM Lcvette: cd qtpyvcp
11:50 AM Lcvette: git pull
11:51 AM JT-Shop2: now if I can figure out what is causing a "random miss" on the Z71 I'd be in good shape
11:51 AM End-CNC: yes that was no problem from the beginning
11:51 AM End-CNC: only the probe_basic folder was the problem ;)
11:52 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-23_12-45-58.png (28KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/mLgpAkXLwjLxHRsJvRKNbIIr >
11:52 AM Lcvette: ^^^ like this?
11:52 AM Lcvette: ok good
11:52 AM End-CNC: yes :)
11:53 AM Lcvette: you may have to bring your saved personal files over to the linuxcnc config folder like your tool.tbl file
11:54 AM Lcvette: JT-Shop2: i just had to do full plugs, wires cap and rotor on my 98 silverado, but it has the older 5.7 vortec 350 enine in it
11:55 AM End-CNC: That's all ok. Thanks for your helb :)
11:55 AM Lcvette: is yours the same or is it a 5.3l or 6.0l?
11:55 AM Lcvette: End-CNC: yeah man! glad you are all up and running!
11:56 AM Lcvette: turboss is sorting out the vtk stuff and soon hazzy will have the persistent boxes hopefully and i think then it shuold be pretty solid
11:56 AM TurBoss: hello!
11:56 AM Lcvette: speak of the devil!
11:56 AM Lcvette: \o/
11:57 AM TurBoss: ºøº
11:57 AM Lcvette: :o
11:57 AM * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (89KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/PsiCtLlQSlMmuEhJrPMuQOTt >
11:58 AM Lcvette: looks like that
11:58 AM Lcvette: lol
11:58 AM TurBoss: lol
12:02 PM JT-Shop2: 5.3L
12:02 PM JT-Shop2: mine has the 8 coils
12:04 PM Lcvette: last plug change?
12:05 PM JT-Shop2: hmm never
12:05 PM JT-Shop2: 02
12:06 PM JT-Shop2: 159k miles
12:11 PM JT-Shop2: I raccoon a good set of plugs is the best place to start...
12:11 PM JT-Shop2: what's good plugs
12:26 PM Tom_L: bosch
12:26 PM Tom_L: AC Delco
12:34 PM JT-Shop2: better than ngk?
12:34 PM Tom_L: i dunno
12:35 PM Tom_L: i've used all 3
12:35 PM Tom_L: typically ngk on foreign cars
12:35 PM Tom_L: platinum?
12:35 PM JT-Shop2: I guess so
12:35 PM Tom_L: heh
12:36 PM Tom_L: yeah i dunno anymore
12:49 PM JT-Shop2: two more fixtures to convert and the new shop is 100% LED
01:08 PM Lcvette: well, whatever went 159k miles without needing to be changed is a good plug i would say
01:08 PM Lcvette: they are probably the ac delco platinum or iridiums
01:08 PM Lcvette: but in a pinch the ngk's are also good and fairly cheaper
01:09 PM Lcvette: probably outlast the restof the truck at this point
01:09 PM Lcvette: JT-Shop2: are you retaining the ballasts?
01:09 PM Tom_L: i think any of the 3 are good brands just depends on the material they're made of
01:09 PM Lcvette: or going with the direct wire led bulbs?
01:10 PM Lcvette: i did a few that retained the ballast but they didn't last long and had issues so now im swapping out direct wire type bulbs and removing the ballasts as the old t8 flourescents go out
01:11 PM JT-Shop2: Lcvette: no, these are Hyperikon AC bulbs
01:11 PM JT-Shop2: waste of power to keep the ballast
01:12 PM JT-Shop2: yea I have 2 fixtures that have the LED that use the ballast
01:12 PM Lcvette: Good
01:12 PM Lcvette: Should be the last bulbs you ever have to put in
01:13 PM JT-Shop2: I hope I out live them lol
01:13 PM Lcvette: I have a box of 14 bulbs left of those
01:14 PM Lcvette: Lol
01:16 PM JT-Shop2: I had one Hyperikon bulb that only 2/3 lit up so far out of 72 bulbs
01:18 PM Lcvette: These are great.

01:19 PM Lcvette: These suck
01:23 PM JT-Shop: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C9CMCT8
01:23 PM JT-Shop: I use those
01:23 PM JT-Shop: 6000k
01:23 PM Tom_L: do you remove the ballast?
01:27 PM JT-Shop2: yea
01:27 PM JT-Shop2: hot to one end, neutral to the other end
01:34 PM Lcvette: Yes I do now, the first picture works with either ballast or no ballast
01:34 PM Lcvette: The second, the utilitech are ballast only type
01:38 PM JT-Shop2: some shop lights won't work with either type for some reason
01:38 PM JT-Shop2: the kind you can't find the ballast
01:44 PM JT-Shop2: damn the truck is dirty when lit up like the sun is shining on it
01:44 PM End-CNC: ERROR:TIME 2019-10-23 20:35:28.948586 ERROR: index out of range, 11 not in [0..4] (increase num_aio/EMCMOT_MAX_AIO=64)What kind of mistake is this during the touchdown? Seems that everything works well. Only this error is displayed.

01:45 PM TurBoss: give me a sek
01:45 PM End-CNC: ah, okay
01:46 PM End-CNC: i think that's my fault because i have a custom .hal '=D
01:47 PM TurBoss: End-CNC: in your main hal you should have a loadrt [EMCMOT]EMCMOT line
01:48 PM TurBoss: add this to the end of the line num_dio=20 num_aio=23
01:48 PM TurBoss: example: loadrt [EMCMOT]EMCMOT base_period_nsec=[EMCMOT]BASE_PERIOD servo_period_nsec=[EMCMOT]SERVO_PERIOD num_joints=[KINS]JOINTS unlock_joints_mask=16 num_dio=20 num_aio=23

01:48 PM End-CNC: yes ;)
01:49 PM End-CNC: okay, i will try :)
01:50 PM TurBoss: ok!
01:50 PM TurBoss: nice vids
02:00 PM End-CNC: Thx :)
02:01 PM End-CNC: Whoohooooo :D It runs without any error :D
02:01 PM JT-Shop: TurBoss: to the rescue!
02:02 PM End-CNC: one little thing with the message
02:02 PM End-CNC: If the text from the message is too long, I have no button to confirm it. that is outside the monitor
02:04 PM TurBoss: :)
02:04 PM TurBoss: ohhh bug
02:30 PM End-CNC: okay, success <3 =D
02:30 PM End-CNC: i have some pictures for you but i have to upload it via discord
02:32 PM End-CNC: oh, i see the bridge is down '=D
02:46 PM TurBoss: is down?=
02:46 PM TurBoss: :(
02:50 PM TurBoss: test
02:50 PM End-CNC: test back
02:50 PM TurBoss: :)
02:50 PM TurBoss: discord still down
02:50 PM TurBoss: 👿
02:51 PM End-CNC: yes but i will try to post the pictures here
02:52 PM TurBoss: okay thanks
02:53 PM End-CNC: i have done a calibration on my probe
02:54 PM End-CNC: then a calibration in probe_basic

02:55 PM End-CNC: that's my calibration ring
02:55 PM TurBoss: good numbers?
02:55 PM End-CNC: AND that's............ D:
02:55 PM TurBoss: I will try to help implement the persistent values

03:00 PM TurBoss: hurray!

03:01 PM End-CNC: The linear scales have a resolution of 0.001mm or 1 / 1000mm
03:02 PM TurBoss: did you hit any issue when using metric?¿
03:03 PM End-CNC: not until now
03:03 PM TurBoss: great
03:04 PM End-CNC: The only thing that is a bit annoying is that the values for a new kind are all gone. but that's ok, the surface is insane
03:05 PM TurBoss: I'm saving my changes and switch to that
03:05 PM End-CNC: If i calibrate the sample i have to do it every single time i start the machine '=D
03:25 PM End-CNC: I want to go to bed. Thanks for all your help!
03:25 PM End-CNC: I'm curious how it goes further!
03:28 PM TurBoss: good night
03:28 PM End-CNC: thx, good night :)
03:30 PM TurBoss: Lcvette!!!
03:30 PM TurBoss: I figured how the persistend data works
03:31 PM TurBoss: we can test it
03:31 PM TurBoss: I'm taking a break from vtk 😛
03:31 PM Lcvette: You did it?
03:31 PM Lcvette: \o/
03:32 PM TurBoss: no
03:32 PM TurBoss: just testing what hazzy did
03:32 PM Lcvette: Ah
03:32 PM Lcvette: Ok
03:32 PM * TurBoss uploaded an image: image.png (47KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/OumDRynssGOyJBgsYtktuRtw >
03:33 PM Lcvette: The upper section
03:33 PM TurBoss: okay
03:33 PM Lcvette: Probe parameters
03:34 PM Lcvette: NOT the probe results section
03:34 PM Lcvette: Those are populated from the subroutines
03:34 PM TurBoss: they are VCPLineEdit
03:38 PM TurBoss: need to be VCPSettingsLine but this widget is only on the PersistentSettings
03:38 PM TurBoss: branch
03:38 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: IMG_20191023_162959.jpg (40KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/AWMwuoptBuqxesiksDljFadM >
03:38 PM Lcvette: What's it need?
03:38 PM Lcvette: Chang to vcpsettingline
03:38 PM Lcvette: I can do
03:38 PM TurBoss: but is only on the qtpyvcp branch
03:38 PM Lcvette: Oh the widget is only available in designer in the persistent settings branch
03:38 PM Lcvette: I gotcha
03:38 PM * TurBoss uploaded an image: image.png (95KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/ahFIROUcrUfYYsQUccDEcFJd >
03:38 PM Lcvette: Hazzy!
03:38 PM Lcvette: Fix please
03:38 PM TurBoss: we can
03:38 PM Lcvette: Mist merge
03:38 PM Lcvette: Must
03:38 PM TurBoss: no
03:38 PM Lcvette: So is available to work on probe badic
03:38 PM TurBoss: yes
03:39 PM Lcvette: So it needs to be merged but hazzy said isn't finished
03:39 PM TurBoss: you only need to change to the persistentSettings branch
03:40 PM Lcvette: But that can't be got pulled properly until it's merged to master
03:41 PM TurBoss: if we test it I'll merge
03:41 PM Lcvette: Ok
03:42 PM * TurBoss adopted a little chapas
03:43 PM TurBoss: \o/
03:43 PM TurBoss: its one eye blind ;)

03:45 PM Lcvette: \o/ kitty!!
03:45 PM Lcvette: lcvette needs to shit down the shop and head to dev
03:46 PM Lcvette: * lcvette needs to shut down the shop and head to dev
03:46 PM TurBoss: :)
03:46 PM Lcvette: brb
03:46 PM TurBoss: ok
03:56 PM Lcvette: ok i checked out persistent settings
03:57 PM TurBoss: in both repos
03:57 PM TurBoss: qtpyvcp and probebasic
03:57 PM TurBoss: one has the feature and the other starts using it
03:57 PM Lcvette: ok
03:58 PM TurBoss: its a week old
03:58 PM TurBoss: we can take that as reference and start a branch on recent master
03:59 PM Lcvette: ok both are checked out
03:59 PM Lcvette: now what?
03:59 PM TurBoss: I'm upgrading the probebasic comit
03:59 PM Lcvette: ok
04:00 PM TurBoss: can you please checkout the persistendsettings branch from the top?
04:00 PM Lcvette: ok checked out
04:00 PM TurBoss: ok you can see the changes done
04:00 PM TurBoss: in the right panel of kraken
04:01 PM Lcvette: ok
04:01 PM TurBoss: there are 2 files modified
04:01 PM TurBoss: the UI
04:01 PM TurBoss: and the yml
04:01 PM Lcvette: hazzy changed the vcplineedit calibration_offset to vcpsettingslineedit
04:02 PM TurBoss: yes
04:02 PM TurBoss: you can test if works
04:02 PM TurBoss: it did here
04:02 PM Lcvette: ok testing
04:09 PM TurBoss: any succes?
04:10 PM Lcvette: no failed
04:10 PM Lcvette: reverted to 0.00000
04:10 PM Lcvette: easier to make one of the other boxes a test
04:11 PM Lcvette: the calibration means i have to probe a calibration routine
04:11 PM Lcvette: the other is just type in new number press enter and restart linuxcnc
04:11 PM * TurBoss uploaded an image: image.png (9KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/hUkgfLnFVbsfgGcGnzTQfoiX >
04:12 PM TurBoss: ah ok
04:12 PM TurBoss: so this box is not needed?
04:12 PM Lcvette: it is needed but it is cumbersome as the test persistent box
04:12 PM TurBoss: ok
04:13 PM Lcvette: true test requires running probe routine everytime
04:14 PM Lcvette: i will make all the others vcpsettingslineedits
04:14 PM TurBoss: we also need the yml file
04:14 PM * TurBoss sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/LizZutTHJXdBAYqiKnFhqOag >

04:31 PM Lcvette: \o/
04:31 PM Lcvette: well, the one i did works
04:31 PM Lcvette: so I will do all the rest?
04:32 PM Lcvette: or you want to merge then i will change in the latest version of probe basic?
04:32 PM Lcvette: TurBoss: ?
04:33 PM TurBoss: can you push to the probebasic branch
04:33 PM TurBoss: so I can test
04:33 PM TurBoss: :)

04:58 PM Lcvette: can you fix?
04:59 PM TurBoss: oh
04:59 PM TurBoss: error?
04:59 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-23_17-53-34.png (29KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/GNqkEELClSrLBbCMHTkhvGYN >
04:59 PM JT-Shop: I guess 0.090" gap is a bad thing for a spark plug
05:00 PM Lcvette: bit wide
05:00 PM Lcvette: on a weak ignition system
05:01 PM Lcvette: .060" i think is stock for most iridium plugs in gm v8's\
05:01 PM JT-Shop: yea my book says 0.060"
05:01 PM Lcvette: i usually gap them around .050
05:01 PM JT-Shop: why?
05:01 PM Lcvette: thay always open up after a few heat cycles
05:01 PM JT-Shop: hmm, I ain't taking them back out now... it's a pain to get them out
05:02 PM Lcvette: you'll be fine
05:02 PM JT-Shop: yea I just use the truck a few times a year
05:02 PM JT-Shop: when I need to haul something
05:03 PM JT-Shop: so AFAIK all systems now work on the truck!
05:07 PM Lcvette: you might wanna grab a seafoam kit to clean your injectors
05:08 PM Lcvette: then she'll really run smooth
05:09 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: if you set the setting name firts it doesn't crash
05:10 PM TurBoss: its required
05:10 PM TurBoss: I'll try to fix
05:10 PM Lcvette: Setting name is set
05:10 PM TurBoss: :|
05:11 PM Lcvette: But, I just made one then copied and renamed
05:12 PM Lcvette: Maybe because no yaml yet?
05:12 PM TurBoss: probably
05:12 PM TurBoss: not sure...
05:12 PM Lcvette: Ok I'll update yaml
05:12 PM TurBoss: ok
05:25 PM Lcvette: stillbroken
05:25 PM Lcvette: can't enter the text format
05:27 PM TurBoss: ok
05:27 PM Lcvette: wait, if i hit the nuke button first it works
05:35 PM JT-Shop: does that seafoam stuff really work?
05:37 PM Lcvette: yes
05:38 PM Lcvette: the one you thread onto the fuel rail and it runs through the injectors for a minute then let soak then retsrat and then shut off and remove
05:38 PM Lcvette: actually works very good for a non injector removal cleaning
05:39 PM JT-Shop: I'll look for it, thanks
05:43 PM JT-Shop2: does it screw into the vertical thing with the green cap?
05:43 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: did you managed to set the format?
05:44 PM Lcvette: not sure what color cap
05:45 PM Lcvette: but the fuel rail that goes to the injectors
05:45 PM Lcvette: there is a pressure test port on it
05:45 PM Lcvette: looks like a tire valve stem kind of
05:46 PM jthornton: yea saw one on each side, one vertical and one pointing toward the front
05:47 PM Lcvette: TurBoss: yes, i just pushed
05:47 PM Lcvette: can you test
05:48 PM TurBoss: yep
05:48 PM Lcvette: one thing, the boxes don't have the entry satusfactuion they used too
05:49 PM Lcvette: when you hit enterr, they no lnger accept the new text and turn off the focus
05:49 PM Lcvette: i that because vcpsettingslineedit need the same thing the vcplineedits got for that?
05:50 PM TurBoss: yes they need the same fix
05:50 PM Lcvette: lcvette doesn't know where the fix is
05:50 PM TurBoss: :)
05:53 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L

05:55 PM Tom_L: wtf you up to now?
05:55 PM JT-Shop2: me?
05:55 PM Tom_L: yeah
05:55 PM Tom_L: sparkplugs?
05:55 PM JT-Shop2: clean the injectors
05:55 PM Tom_L: oh
05:55 PM JT-Shop2: sparkplugs are done and Rusty runs much better
05:55 PM JT-Shop2: Lcvette: is that the port in the photo?
05:56 PM JT-Shop2: on the S shaped pipe?

05:58 PM Tom_L: so if i do a git pull on pb is it gonna be good?
05:58 PM Lcvette: Tom_L: better wait
05:58 PM Lcvette: i have a few more to do
05:58 PM Tom_L: stop breaking things!
05:59 PM Lcvette: not breaking, adding fixes
05:59 PM Lcvette: TurBoss: don't merge yet, im still working on a few more line edits
06:00 PM jthornton: ok thanks Lcvette
06:19 PM Lcvette: TurBoss: the parameters work, but numbers that are sent to the vcpline edits using the status:aout channel from a subroutine M68 E13 Qx.xxxx do not get saved for some reason
06:19 PM Lcvette: sooo close
06:20 PM TurBoss: hmmm
06:20 PM Lcvette: pushing now
06:20 PM TurBoss: ok
06:20 PM TurBoss: are thoose in the subs?
06:21 PM Lcvette: on the offsets page the set tool change position button initiates a subroutine that kickjs back the xyz coordinates the machine is at
06:21 PM TurBoss: an example?
06:21 PM Lcvette: there is a rule in those vcpsettingslineedits to display the result

07:00 PM Tom_L: how do i clear the local copy before i can 'git pull' i forgot?
07:01 PM Tom_L: or reset...
07:02 PM Lcvette: In gitkraken
07:02 PM Lcvette: Delete your changes
07:02 PM Tom_L: no
07:02 PM Lcvette: Bit it's not ready for a pull yet
07:02 PM Tom_L: using git commands
07:02 PM Tom_L: not pb
07:03 PM Lcvette: No clue
07:04 PM Tom_L: git reset --hard HEAD
07:05 PM Tom_L: then pull
07:09 PM TurBoss: that
07:09 PM Tom_L: i should be able to edit the sample files without that interferring with code changes
07:09 PM Tom_L: but that's what it was
07:10 PM TurBoss: you can make youw own local copy
07:10 PM Tom_L: probably no way to do it any different

07:41 PM Lcvette: what am i testing?
07:42 PM TurBoss: the persistence of data from rules aka status
07:42 PM Lcvette: ok
07:42 PM TurBoss: i modified the format lines
07:42 PM TurBoss: and the rule
07:42 PM TurBoss: we don't need to format twice
07:42 PM TurBoss: on the rule and on the widget latter
07:42 PM TurBoss: also we where setting the text
07:43 PM TurBoss: so I created a new propertie for the value that stores a float

08:32 PM Lcvette: mdi button
08:32 PM Lcvette: M58 E12 Q0
08:33 PM Lcvette: just to remove the existing offset before running the new routine
08:33 PM Lcvette: * M68 E12 Q0
08:34 PM Lcvette: doesn't have to be mdi if there is a rule way to reset the value
08:36 PM TurBoss: I'm testing local
08:36 PM Lcvette: actually it does need to be an mdi command because im going to put it at the beginning of the offset routines so it clears before getting muddy'd with the existing number
08:39 PM TurBoss: maybe because mdi reads the text of the widget and we now are using the value?
08:40 PM Lcvette: i dunno
08:40 PM TurBoss: :/
08:40 PM Lcvette: seeing if i can fix in the subroutine so doesn't require a reset
08:40 PM TurBoss: can I see it
08:41 PM TurBoss: where is stored?
08:44 PM Lcvette: ?
08:45 PM Lcvette: where is what stored?
08:45 PM TurBoss: the sub
08:45 PM Lcvette: in subroutines folder
08:45 PM Lcvette: probe_cal
08:45 PM Lcvette: i have a bit of a mess im trying to fix
08:46 PM TurBoss: there are many
08:46 PM Lcvette: mnany messes?
08:46 PM TurBoss: :)
08:46 PM Lcvette: yes for each type of calibration routine
08:46 PM Lcvette: all will need fixing
08:46 PM Lcvette: :(
08:46 PM TurBoss: nono
08:46 PM Lcvette: lcvette has to remember what he wrote
08:47 PM Lcvette: it looks foreign

08:48 PM Tom_L: take better notes
08:50 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: whats what doesn't get cleared the box?
08:50 PM Lcvette: yes the box does not clear
08:50 PM Lcvette: before when it was text it cleared
08:50 PM Lcvette: but now that its value it does not clear
08:50 PM Lcvette: but shouldn't matter soon
08:51 PM TurBoss: why?
08:51 PM Lcvette: new routine fix will eliminate the requirement to clear it before running the new offset calibration
08:51 PM TurBoss: so no need to clear the box?
08:51 PM TurBoss: x
08:51 PM TurBoss: ok
08:51 PM Lcvette: no
08:51 PM Lcvette: well might still be nice
08:51 PM Lcvette: for metnal peace of mind
08:52 PM TurBoss: ok whats left?
08:52 PM Tom_L: rename the startup file from xyzab.ini to probe_basic.ini ?
08:53 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: Probebasic main tabs could be ini options
08:53 PM TurBoss: :D
08:53 PM TurBoss: just an idea
08:53 PM Lcvette: mmmm.. they are required
08:54 PM Lcvette: but it does need an option for the atc tab and a manual tool change tab
08:54 PM TurBoss: yes that
08:54 PM TurBoss: some drawings with insert and remove tool
08:54 PM Lcvette: but that will reequire some design changes to add the tab
08:55 PM TurBoss: anyway
08:55 PM TurBoss: does persistence work?
08:55 PM Lcvette: vtk?
08:55 PM Lcvette: yes!
08:55 PM TurBoss: do the subs get the valuess correctly?
08:55 PM Lcvette: works great now

10:43 PM memfrob: Hello, I'm trying to get qtpyvcp working in Debian, I get this error when running `editvcp`: ImportError: No module named QtQuickWidgets However, I have libqt5quickwidgets5 python-pyside2.qtquickwidgets and python3-pyside2.qtquickwidgets installed.
10:44 PM TurBoss: hello
10:44 PM memfrob: Hey I remember you!
10:45 PM TurBoss: python-pyqt5.qtquick
10:45 PM memfrob: There were many dependencies I had to install myself in order to get this far, but hardly any of them were documented, python-opengl being one of them off the top of my head.
10:46 PM TurBoss: following this? https://qtpyvcp.kcjengr.com/install/quick_start.html
10:46 PM memfrob: Yes, a lot are missing.
10:47 PM memfrob: Now I'm on qsci -- that's missing too.
10:47 PM memfrob: pyqt5.qsci-dev or python-pyqt5.qsci -- grabbing them both
10:48 PM memfrob: It'd be easier to write these down as I go so you know what to add.
10:48 PM TurBoss: yes I'm adding
10:49 PM Lcvette: memfrob: did you install from the stretch iso?
10:49 PM memfrob: No I did not. QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2 QPainter::translate: Painter not active
10:49 PM memfrob: Just dies..
10:49 PM Lcvette: and what are you trying to install?
10:49 PM Lcvette: probe basic?
10:50 PM memfrob: A lot of "painter not active" messages. Regardless of the version of Debian, you still need to have these installed in order to run editvcp
10:51 PM memfrob: http://dpaste.com/1C58XR7
10:51 PM Lcvette: memfrob, that is why you are having issues probably
10:51 PM memfrob: Vanilla Debian doesn't come with any of these packages pre-installed, whether it's version 6 or 10.
10:51 PM Lcvette: do you just want qtpyvcp?
10:53 PM memfrob: I want to make my own GUI for LinuxCNC, whatever application does that haha.
10:53 PM memfrob: Need to modify buttons and layout.
10:53 PM memfrob: I'm following this: https://qtpyvcp.kcjengr.com/tutorials/vcp_template.html
10:53 PM Lcvette: ah, qtpyvcp is a builder from scratch
10:54 PM Lcvette: not edit axis or the existing ui's
10:54 PM memfrob: Hold on then, let me check with the person who needs this. It's not for myself so maybe I misunderstood.
10:55 PM Lcvette: there are a few gui's you could use as starters
10:55 PM Lcvette: and probe basic is a fairly complete gui at this point
10:55 PM Lcvette: but is not from this isntall
10:55 PM Lcvette: it has its own installation page
10:55 PM Lcvette: and repo
10:57 PM memfrob: I misunderstood, we _do_ want to build a GUI from scratch.
10:57 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-23_23-51-17.png (174KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/ibolyFRqOhNEHcXsizChqoxA >
10:58 PM Lcvette: ok, then you have the correct thing
10:58 PM Lcvette: qtpyvcp
10:58 PM memfrob: I don't need editvcp?
10:58 PM Lcvette: thats a command to launch qt designer
10:59 PM memfrob: I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm just following the tutorial.
10:59 PM TurBoss: maybe template has a bug
11:01 PM TurBoss: $ editvcp vcp-template/myvcp/config.yml
11:01 PM memfrob: http://dpaste.com/2YNV8TF
11:03 PM memfrob: strace: http://dpaste.com/1CXH545 Helpful?
11:04 PM TurBoss: memfrob: can you try to run $ designer
11:05 PM memfrob: designer works
11:05 PM TurBoss: it should launch the qt5designer
11:05 PM TurBoss: :\
11:05 PM memfrob: yes it did
11:05 PM memfrob: I should mention that the whole screen at times when it has tried to start designer, it was filled with artifacts and I had to use alt+f4
11:05 PM memfrob: (when editvcp did it)
11:06 PM TurBoss: wich gpu do you have?
11:06 PM memfrob: Radeon R9 290X 4GB 512-bit GDDR5
11:06 PM memfrob: 1 GHz :)
11:07 PM TurBoss: powerfull enough but
11:07 PM TurBoss: doesn't work...
11:07 PM memfrob: So this could be a hardware issue?
11:08 PM TurBoss: not sure...
11:08 PM TurBoss: if designer works..
11:08 PM TurBoss: did you ran the setup script
11:09 PM TurBoss: https://qtpyvcp.kcjengr.com/install/installation.htmlhttps://qtpyvcp.kcjengr.com/install/installation.html
11:09 PM memfrob: Yes
11:09 PM Tom_L: memfrob, once you get things installed, jt has a nice tutorial to follow for your first practice run
11:09 PM TurBoss: this is the documentation for dev install
11:11 PM memfrob: I'll try changing my DDX, brb
11:15 PM memfrob: Switched to vesa driver and llvmpipe and it's working now! Good call!
11:15 PM memfrob: How'd you figure??
11:15 PM TurBoss: hurray!
11:16 PM TurBoss: duno...
11:16 PM TurBoss: happy to help
11:17 PM memfrob: I never would have tried modifying X, honestly.
11:17 PM TurBoss: the vcp template uses the original 3d ploter
11:17 PM TurBoss: we have a new one, works fine untill you need offsets
11:18 PM TurBoss: I'm working on that issue
11:18 PM TurBoss: its vtk based
11:19 PM memfrob: Thank you so much, I thought of all things that this was a python/Qt version mismatch.
11:19 PM TurBoss: hey you are working on the kernel
11:19 PM TurBoss: I have a friend that could help
11:19 PM memfrob: Yes, RTAI.
11:20 PM TurBoss: wan't me to say him something?
11:20 PM TurBoss: but he is bussy with kids and so...
11:20 PM memfrob: I actually just posted an email to the emc-dev mailing list that I could use help with actually.
11:20 PM memfrob: Minus one "actually"
11:21 PM TurBoss: searching
11:21 PM TurBoss: I'm not sure the interest that my friend could have...
11:21 PM TurBoss: any way I told him
11:22 PM TurBoss: memfrob: title of the mail?
11:22 PM memfrob: RTAI and math, just posted a few hours ago
11:23 PM TurBoss: ah
11:23 PM TurBoss: i'm on users
11:23 PM TurBoss: not dev
11:23 PM memfrob: Long term problem with GCC built-ins with sin and cos -- #define sin(x) __builtin_sin(x) #define cos(x) __builtin_cos(x) doesn't work
11:23 PM memfrob: Everything else sure seems to so far!
11:24 PM memfrob: If we can do away with those two functions from rtai_math.ko then LinuxCNC can stop depending on a C library in kernel space
11:24 PM TurBoss: https://sourceforge.net/p/emc/mailman/message/36791750/
11:24 PM memfrob: Assuming fmin causes no trouble, can't remember if it did or not.
11:24 PM memfrob: That's the one!
11:25 PM TurBoss: I'm not familiar with asm but with coimpilers
11:25 PM memfrob: It's 100% compiler based.
11:25 PM memfrob: No asm at all.
11:26 PM TurBoss: is that mail?
11:26 PM memfrob: Pardon?
11:26 PM TurBoss: https://sourceforge.net/p/emc/mailman/message/36791750/
11:26 PM TurBoss: rtai + math
11:26 PM memfrob: That is the email I posted, yes.
11:26 PM TurBoss: i found
11:27 PM TurBoss: ok I'll forward
11:27 PM memfrob: I lack the required knowledge of GCC to finish it, but it's like 90% of the way there.
11:28 PM memfrob: TurBoss, thank you! So your friend is interested in RTOS?
11:29 PM CaptHindsight: our end goal for this is https://forum.linuxcnc.org/10-advanced-configuration/37617-adding-slicing-to-lcnc-for-dlp-and-lcd-printers
11:29 PM TurBoss: he worked writing firmwares for wimax routers
11:29 PM memfrob: andypugh and I took a whack at this but we don't know enough to help ourselves haha.
11:29 PM CaptHindsight: the other LCNC GUI's don't quite fit SLA/DLP printing
11:37 PM TurBoss: nice printer
11:50 PM CaptHindsight: https://imgur.com/zvxoHUT printers are much larger now
11:50 PM CaptHindsight: https://imgur.com/zKNtBAg
11:51 PM CaptHindsight: 5-axis airbrush is another GUI challenge
11:51 PM CaptHindsight: https://imgur.com/EAF5oPj
11:52 PM CaptHindsight: also SLS printers https://imgur.com/LxSPzg7
11:53 PM CaptHindsight: and 5-axis inkjet https://imgur.com/LOriL1y
11:56 PM memfrob: I'll be back tomorrow, quitting for the day. Thanks again TurBoss!
11:58 PM TurBoss: night
