12:51 PM Lcvette: sorry i did before i saw

12:51 PM Lcvette: TurBoss: ^^^
12:52 PM TurBoss: okay!
12:52 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-17_13-46-02.png (15KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/ABlDhHsQzrdGKLRdSZZBJCot >
12:52 PM TurBoss: ok fetc again

12:54 PM Lcvette: so start a new branch if i do edits?
12:54 PM TurBoss: does the github readme look okay?
12:54 PM TurBoss: * does the github readme looks okay?
12:55 PM Lcvette: yes
12:55 PM Lcvette: i removed the instructions
12:55 PM TurBoss: cool!
12:55 PM TurBoss: done then
12:55 PM Lcvette: put a link to the installation instructions
12:55 PM * TurBoss heads back to the vtk
12:55 PM Lcvette: was forgetting to update the githubs so had mixed information from install instruction page
12:56 PM Lcvette: \o/
12:56 PM Lcvette: hurrray!!
12:57 PM TurBoss: ok so the bug is :
12:58 PM TurBoss: when PB is starts and you load a file it takes the active origin not the program orgin
01:02 PM Lcvette: i think
01:03 PM * Lcvette posted a file: shifting_offset.mkv (9158KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/gdBidshAxCYTtduDHtKcomOY >
01:04 PM Lcvette: the offset origin was moving correctly
01:04 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: it doesn't look correct from the first time
01:04 PM TurBoss: or yes
01:05 PM TurBoss: :|
01:05 PM TurBoss: sorry
01:05 PM Lcvette: but it drew the tool path in the g55 position
01:05 PM TurBoss: you right
01:05 PM Lcvette: im not sure what it should be now
01:05 PM * JT-Shop2 loves his highland resaw blade!
01:05 PM TurBoss: origin is at active offset
01:05 PM Lcvette: so the question is which should happen
01:05 PM TurBoss: part is on g55
01:06 PM TurBoss: hey JT
01:08 PM JT-Shop2: hey TurBoss
01:11 PM * Lcvette posted a file: shifting_offset_while_in_g55.mkv (2171KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/jEZhIknxwagnxuWcatOAQpcW >
01:11 PM Lcvette: JT-Shop2: hey JT good blade?
01:11 PM Lcvette: turboss
01:11 PM Lcvette: comparison video
01:11 PM Lcvette: ^^^
01:12 PM TurBoss: ok
01:12 PM TurBoss: saw
01:14 PM * TurBoss sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/JnnIuJpDekDcVFatseRrTpfQ >
01:14 PM Lcvette: yes i think thats right
01:14 PM Lcvette: how does axis work?
01:21 PM Lcvette: my goodness i don't know how anyone uses axis
01:26 PM TurBoss: now how do I know that the program includes a offset
01:27 PM Lcvette: i dunno im in axis trying to see what it does in each situation
01:27 PM Lcvette: but it takes forever
01:27 PM TurBoss: with big paths axis takes ages to load an offset
01:28 PM Lcvette: it take ages to figure out how to do anything in axis
01:28 PM Lcvette: it looks like its half microsoft word, half cnc controller
01:29 PM TurBoss: lol
01:29 PM TurBoss: lotus 123
01:29 PM Lcvette: seriously
01:29 PM Lcvette: with no action buttons
01:29 PM Lcvette: to set an offset you need to use the drop down menu
01:29 PM Lcvette: horrible
01:30 PM TurBoss: there is a nutton
01:30 PM TurBoss: * there is a button
01:30 PM TurBoss: offset something
01:30 PM Lcvette: :o
01:33 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-17_14-27-06.png (6KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/HmrBrUDHwOAeRAgMjJABdDsn >
01:33 PM Lcvette: axis opens the file to the program offset
01:33 PM Lcvette: so this part is correct
01:34 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-17_14-28-00.png (20KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/VudvIZlvvUKqVGquRIdfJuUu >
01:34 PM Lcvette: changing to g55 the tool path remains at the correct coordinates
01:34 PM Lcvette: only the origin move
01:34 PM Lcvette: * only the origin moves
01:35 PM Lcvette: so the part prgoram should always follow the offset that it specifies
01:36 PM Lcvette: this seems correct
01:36 PM Lcvette: so we need t figure out why the toolpath is shifting
01:36 PM Lcvette: it appears that it is being drawn in the correct location
01:37 PM Lcvette: but when it shift we need to know why it is moving
01:38 PM Lcvette: it is already reading the program
01:39 PM Lcvette: that seems to be how it knows to draw the toolpath at the offset origin location'
01:39 PM TurBoss: ok I found where the program reads the offsets
01:39 PM Lcvette: we just need to stop it from moving when the offset is changed
01:39 PM TurBoss: it reads the param file
01:39 PM Lcvette: toolpath should be tied to the offset it is specified for
01:39 PM TurBoss: if there is a g5x on the program
01:39 PM Lcvette: then if the offset, for example g55 is set to a different position the tool path should shift
01:39 PM Lcvette: correct
01:40 PM Lcvette: if there isn't it should be tied to G54
01:40 PM Lcvette: as the default offset
01:41 PM Lcvette: but i think ALL programs should have an offset listyed unless it is hand coded
01:41 PM Lcvette: i know all the cam software i use you must set a work offset
02:06 PM Lcvette: whatcha need?
02:07 PM Lcvette: TurBoss: ?
02:08 PM TurBoss: the vtk has the base canon stuff i was ignoring
02:08 PM TurBoss: it allready handles the offsets
02:08 PM Lcvette: lol
02:08 PM Lcvette: so just needed to get out of its way?
02:09 PM TurBoss: not easy
02:10 PM Lcvette: ah
02:10 PM Lcvette: what file are you in?
02:10 PM Lcvette: or files
02:10 PM Lcvette: ?
02:10 PM TurBoss: qtpyvcp/widgets/display_widgets/vtk_backplot
02:11 PM Tom_L: how goes the battle?
02:12 PM Lcvette: we wonb the battle of the monospaced font
02:12 PM Lcvette: i was able to fix it with fontforge that turboss suggested i try
02:13 PM Lcvette: * we won the battle of the monospaced font
02:14 PM Lcvette: Tom_L: https://youtu.be/qatdPgX270Y
02:33 PM Tom_L: cool
03:54 PM Lcvette: TurBoss: how goes it?
03:54 PM TurBoss: not much progress
03:56 PM Lcvette: need reearch hgelp?
03:56 PM Lcvette: * need research help?
04:05 PM * TurBoss posted a file: 3D_Chips2X.ngc (391KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/sYyXXSsTlqfXQDmNnusmXvqq >
04:08 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: ^
04:10 PM Lcvette: Yes?
04:11 PM Lcvette: Run It?
04:11 PM Lcvette: I am afk 15min
04:11 PM TurBoss: k
04:35 PM TurBoss: is there a way to get the loaded program gcodes?
04:35 PM TurBoss: or atleast if there is an g5x on it
04:35 PM TurBoss: 😇
04:50 PM Lcvette: sorry wife came home with groceries
04:51 PM Lcvette: has two offsets in it?
04:52 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-17_17-45-50.png (26KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/fvCzWfHzjvqRNnaqAgkJEsgx >
04:52 PM Lcvette: TurBoss: ^^^
04:54 PM TurBoss: yes
05:15 PM Lcvette: so it seems it is pulling out the two offsets
05:15 PM Lcvette: thats good right?
05:15 PM TurBoss: yes
05:15 PM TurBoss: i managed to make it not change the path
05:15 PM Lcvette: yeah?
05:15 PM Lcvette: \o/
05:15 PM Lcvette: victorey!
05:16 PM TurBoss: but now i need to know how to enable the oher mode
05:16 PM TurBoss: if there is no g5x
05:16 PM TurBoss: axis code should know
05:17 PM TurBoss: not axis but gremlim
05:20 PM Lcvette: hurray!!
05:21 PM Tom_L: there's a gremlin in axis?
05:21 PM Tom_L: gawd, don't water it
05:21 PM Lcvette: too late, he fed it after midnight
05:22 PM TurBoss: how do you think vtk plot was born?
05:23 PM Lcvette: did you push fix to test turbosws?
05:24 PM TurBoss: only on part of them works
05:24 PM Tom_L: i thought you sweat blood coding it!

05:40 PM hazzy-m: TurBoss: What do you need? I have to leave in about 10min
05:40 PM hazzy-m: hmmm
05:41 PM TurBoss: when you can
05:41 PM JT-Shop: Lcvette: no, I'm 1.5GB behind on data today :(
05:41 PM hazzy-m: I guess you could read the file into a list, break at space and check if G5* is in the list
05:42 PM hazzy-m: JT-Shop: That's way behind :(
05:42 PM * hazzy-m gives JT some of his unlimited data
05:42 PM JT-Shop: yea, again I don't know how or why
05:42 PM TurBoss: hazzy: something with BaseCanon
05:42 PM JT-Shop: email it to me lol
05:42 PM Lcvette: :o
05:42 PM TurBoss: but when you can
05:43 PM hazzy-m: ah, good idea

05:47 PM Lcvette: hazzy: where is this calculation done so i can play with fixing it?]
05:58 PM Tom_L: does that switch depending on 'units' in the ini?
05:58 PM Lcvette: units in ini sets its default
05:59 PM Lcvette: but if the program calls for a different unit then it displays that unit
05:59 PM Tom_L: dependant on G20 21?
05:59 PM Lcvette: ie if your default is Inch then inch is displayed but when you run a G21 metric program it changes
06:00 PM Lcvette: the whole gui shifts
06:00 PM Lcvette: into metric mode
06:00 PM Lcvette: so that program calls can be verified without having to calculate
06:00 PM Tom_L: on either the 'units' setting or G21?
06:01 PM Lcvette: units detemrines the default
06:01 PM Lcvette: in the ini
06:01 PM Tom_L: right
06:01 PM Lcvette: but G20/G21 will change it
06:01 PM Lcvette: to matcht he program
06:01 PM Tom_L: ok
06:02 PM Lcvette: but hazzy has a calculation somewhere for that box that is messed up
06:02 PM Lcvette: not wure what he was thinking
06:02 PM Lcvette: but the math is a touch off
06:02 PM Lcvette: lol
06:02 PM Lcvette: 2.25million mm/m
06:03 PM TurBoss: thats fast
06:04 PM Tom_L: what screen is that?
06:06 PM Lcvette: ?
06:06 PM Lcvette: probe basic
06:07 PM Tom_L: nevermind
06:08 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: have you tried the latest vtk commit?
06:09 PM Tom_L: i loaded a gcode with a g21 at the top and it didn't switch units
06:15 PM Lcvette: loaded or ran?
06:15 PM Lcvette: loaded won't switch it\
06:15 PM Lcvette: type G21 in the mdi
06:16 PM Lcvette: Tom_L: ^^^
06:16 PM Tom_L: ok
06:16 PM Lcvette: TurBoss: pulling now to test
06:16 PM TurBoss: ok
06:17 PM TurBoss: it has issues if program doesnt have g5x
06:21 PM Lcvette: TurBoss: iot needs to follow the offset even if the offset is changed
06:23 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-17_19-16-52.png (30KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/SngUGTcjoWXRiEsPYmiGVeTA >
06:23 PM Lcvette: Tom_L: pretty slick huh?
06:24 PM Lcvette: turboss in this picture above, the offset in program is G55
06:24 PM Lcvette: but G55 starts off at home position, 0,0,0 G53
06:24 PM Lcvette: then i set G55 to a new coordinate location and zero
06:25 PM Lcvette: the origin moves correctly, but the tool path should follow
06:25 PM TurBoss: yes
06:25 PM TurBoss: I disabled it in mdi mode
06:27 PM Lcvette: How come?
06:27 PM Lcvette: Should the same there too
06:27 PM Lcvette: Ie if I have a program loaded and probe the corner, the toolpath should move to the new zero location
06:27 PM TurBoss: its a test
06:28 PM Lcvette: Ok
06:28 PM * Tom_L feels TurBoss is just messin with Lcvette now
06:29 PM Lcvette: `o- -o'
06:29 PM Lcvette: Lol
06:29 PM TurBoss: :)
06:29 PM TurBoss: looks like a pair of glasses
06:30 PM Lcvette: Lol
06:30 PM TurBoss: `o--o´
06:31 PM TurBoss: * `o-x-o´
06:31 PM Lcvette: Hahahah
06:40 PM Lcvette: the new vtk pull did some wierd stuff with the tool heights

06:42 PM Tom_L: can you do calculations in rule expressions?
06:45 PM Lcvette: I think so
06:45 PM Lcvette: But that box has no calc in it that I saw
07:20 PM Tom_L: no that's done somewhere else
07:20 PM Tom_L: i couldn't find it
09:21 PM Lcvette: me either
09:32 PM Lcvette: hazzy o/
09:32 PM Lcvette: the nubbinator
09:32 PM Lcvette: the nubster
09:32 PM hazzy-m: \o
09:32 PM Lcvette: o/
09:33 PM Lcvette: man do you rememeber where the calculation is done for the f word
09:33 PM * hazzy-m is exhausted
09:33 PM Lcvette: box
09:33 PM hazzy-m: yes, I thing its done in the rules
09:33 PM hazzy-m: to convert mm/s to mm/min
09:33 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-17_22-27-36.png (9KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/lcpXXfqFMaywuqryKYpcNyRu >
09:34 PM Lcvette: the box has no rule in it
09:34 PM Lcvette: when you say rules
09:34 PM Lcvette: .. where is that?
09:34 PM hazzy-m: that looks right
09:34 PM Lcvette: yes but when a program is run it goes wonkly
09:35 PM hazzy-m: how so?
09:35 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-10-17_18-40-39.png (12KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/dHGkKqXvfGZtEYqgYmIHKcnr >
09:35 PM Lcvette: hazzy: ^^^
09:35 PM Lcvette: lol
09:36 PM Lcvette: lik that
09:36 PM Lcvette: guessing its not 2.25million mm/m
09:36 PM Lcvette: although that wouyld be fun to watch
09:36 PM Lcvette: :D
09:38 PM hazzy-m: what program is that ?
09:38 PM Lcvette: 3dchips
09:38 PM Lcvette: think i found the issue
09:38 PM Lcvette: had an fscale of 10000
09:39 PM hazzy-m: yes, I think if you run a regular prigram it will be correct
09:43 PM Lcvette: spindle override isn't working
09:48 PM Tom_L: so all is good there then?
09:48 PM Lcvette: yeah was 3dchips
09:48 PM Tom_L: just the test program
09:48 PM Tom_L: blame the penguin
09:49 PM Tom_L: and here i was hoping to learn something...
09:51 PM Lcvette: we need to repair the spindle speed override slider
09:51 PM Lcvette: its nt working
09:53 PM Tom_L: what's wrong with it?
09:53 PM Lcvette: not working
09:53 PM Tom_L: what caused it to quit?
09:54 PM Lcvette: dunno
09:54 PM Lcvette: or if it ever worked
09:54 PM * Tom_L boots linux
09:58 PM Tom_L: isn't override limits set in the ini?
09:58 PM Tom_L: for max override
09:59 PM Lcvette: yes
09:59 PM Tom_L: that would be the max for the slider then
10:01 PM Tom_L: hmm, my ini doesn't specify an override for the spindle
10:01 PM Tom_L: there's a 'percentage' for feed
10:02 PM Tom_L: MIN_SPINDLE_OVERRIDE =
10:02 PM Tom_L: MAX_SPINDLE_OVERRIDE =
10:02 PM Tom_L: those should set your range
10:03 PM Tom_L: in my case i don't specify them so you should have some default
10:03 PM Lcvette: yeah they are set
10:04 PM Tom_L: funny, i can control my spindle slider in axis but i didn't specify those in the ini
10:04 PM Tom_L: at least i didn't see it
10:04 PM Lcvette: settings hopefully will be in the gui once hazzy completes the persistent settings
10:04 PM Tom_L: the ones available should be read in from the ini
10:04 PM Lcvette: it may not give you control over the range
10:05 PM Lcvette: i think they should be in the gui
10:05 PM Tom_L: the upper and lower would be percentage of actual
10:05 PM Lcvette: that way they can be adjusted without an ini change
10:05 PM Tom_L: whether it is more or less
10:05 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure i agree with that
10:05 PM Lcvette: mine is set at 50 and 200
10:06 PM Tom_L: those limits should be pre set for your given machine when you set it up
10:07 PM * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/RwfHuVcFOdHFWeeQvfFTqpmu >
10:07 PM Tom_L: so from half up to 2x speed specified by the S word
10:08 PM Lcvette: yeah
10:08 PM Lcvette: but it isn't tied to any specific machine it is more tied to the gui
10:09 PM Lcvette: its a ratio of the sword
10:09 PM Tom_L: it should still respect anything set in the ini
10:10 PM Lcvette: i think setting that adjust the gui should be in the gui
10:10 PM Lcvette: i think ini files are too coder oriented
10:10 PM Lcvette: i think most of the ini settings should be accesible throught he gui interface
10:10 PM Lcvette: in a setting spage for setting up the machine
10:11 PM Lcvette: i think that the wierd numbers in the ini for all the axis should be converted to normal speak and have easy to fill in boxes
10:11 PM Tom_L: problem with that is if you change them in the gui the changes aren't immediate but upon the next instance of linuxcnc
10:11 PM Lcvette: and i think the hal should have an easy user interface as well
10:11 PM Tom_L: the ini is read on startup
10:12 PM Lcvette: restarting probe basic is MUCH easier then learning ini speak
10:12 PM Lcvette: besides, changes made in the ini require a restart as well
10:12 PM Lcvette: soo...
10:12 PM Lcvette: lol
10:13 PM Lcvette: in mach3 it is understoofd that anytime changes are made in the settings page a restart is required
10:16 PM Lcvette: machine.rapid-override.reset
10:16 PM Lcvette: machine.rapid-override.set
10:17 PM Lcvette: spindle.override
10:17 PM Lcvette: machine.feed-override.set
10:17 PM Lcvette: machine.max-velocity.set
10:19 PM Tom_L: the other issue you may run into is a multi spindle cnc
10:19 PM Lcvette: i won't run into that issue
10:19 PM Lcvette: lol
10:19 PM Lcvette: but it shouldn't
10:20 PM Lcvette: i think it is tied to the currently active spindle
10:20 PM Lcvette: i remember hazzy was dealing with the multispindle when it first came out
10:20 PM Lcvette: that is one good thing of mainting the work on probe basic on the latest release
10:22 PM Tom_L: status reports information on 7 spindles
10:22 PM Tom_L: 8
10:22 PM Tom_L: starting with 0
10:28 PM Tom_L: right now the slider is tied to spindle 0
10:30 PM Lcvette: That should. Be correct
10:30 PM Lcvette: There is a py file
10:30 PM Tom_L: i just shut it down for the night..
10:31 PM Lcvette: Werd
10:31 PM Tom_L: what's the filename?
10:32 PM Lcvette: action_slider.py
10:32 PM Lcvette: In the qtpyvcp widgets folder
10:37 PM Tom_L: what's that wireless mpg you have?
10:38 PM Lcvette: xhc
10:39 PM Lcvette: http://cdxhctech.com/html/eProduct/view_381.html
10:40 PM Lcvette: the sales rep keeps bugging me he has offered me a bulk pricing deal of 10 units for $124/unit
10:40 PM Lcvette: its a fantastic unit
10:40 PM Lcvette: nice and robust
10:40 PM Lcvette: easy to wire in
10:40 PM Lcvette: has great range
10:40 PM Lcvette: and no lag
10:41 PM Lcvette: i have a usb wifi type, xhc hbo4 on my mach3 little mill and i never use it its horrible with lag
10:43 PM Lcvette: http://cdxhctech.com/html/eProduct/view_375.html
10:43 PM Lcvette: they also have this which im considering
10:43 PM Lcvette: wireless tool setter
