12:15 AM Lcvette: lol
12:15 AM TurBoss: to?
12:15 AM TurBoss: why?
12:15 AM TurBoss: no need
12:15 AM Lcvette: so its with the rest of the icons
12:15 AM TurBoss: you can move it to /home/cris/.local/share/pixmaps

08:59 AM roguish[m]: Lcvette: hey, good morning. is your benchtop mill a real Rong Fu, or a clone? what exactly? is it enhanced? cnc'ed?
11:43 AM Lcvette: roguish: Grizzly G0704 en hanced and cnc'd with power drawbar and extended travels. but i wouldn't recommne it for high volume production as it requires constant tinkering in that environment to maintain tolerances. better served as a weekend warrior..lol
11:48 AM TurBoss: hello
11:49 AM Lcvette: yo
11:49 AM Lcvette: turboss \o/
11:49 AM Lcvette: how is your day
11:49 AM TurBoss: nice!
11:49 AM TurBoss: went to do some tasks
12:01 PM roguish[m]: Lcvette: thanks for the info. understand those machines are not 'production', but then neither and I. production. strickly prototyping and very small run parts
12:02 PM Lcvette: gotcha
12:04 PM Lcvette: precision matthews has a new machine offering that appears a little more robust with an enlarged column base and i have a few buddies with PM machines and they say the quality os pretty good on them, both of them have converted the machines, the spindle is also much better as its factory belt drive with a triple AC bearing setup.. it would be a great start for a conversion machine if that is ultimately the direction you
12:04 PM Lcvette: planned on going.
12:05 PM Lcvette: https://www.precisionmatthews.com/shop/pm-728v-t-ultra-precision-mill/
12:07 PM Lcvette: roguish: they are taiwan made and that is a big bump up in quality generally from china
12:08 PM Lcvette: plus they come with lubrication already installed which is a major headache usually for conversions, pretty much most of what you would need to upgrade has been done so all you would need to worry with is the axis conversions and home/limits
12:10 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (501KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/ZvZxHvAvdotzdVTRzQmFrKHm >
12:10 PM Lcvette: the column upgrade along with the much higher quality castings from taiwan would make this twice the machine of a grizzly G0704
12:13 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (345KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/WqYzGRjhpClBMeLGPtjkqeOK >
12:13 PM Lcvette: and they give lots of clearance for conversion
12:14 PM roguish[m]: I really am at a point where i need my own machine. the BP series II that I have does not belong to me and it's really way to big. (for what it is.)
12:14 PM Lcvette: yeah
12:14 PM Lcvette: im with ya
12:14 PM Lcvette: what travels do you need again?
12:14 PM roguish[m]: so I'm back thinking what to do. If I do a 'conversion' I would definitely want to start with quality, new machine.
12:15 PM Lcvette: this would be the machine i started with if i were to do it again
12:15 PM Lcvette: but like i said i wouldn't do it again
12:15 PM Lcvette: lol
12:15 PM Lcvette: not after seeing the accuracy difference in a real machine
12:16 PM roguish[m]: just put in for a quick quote on the Syil . both a 5 and a 7. we'll see the $$$$
12:17 PM roguish[m]: that's a clean looking machine.
12:18 PM Lcvette: the syils are very nice
12:18 PM Lcvette: especially the 7
12:19 PM roguish[m]: is your Griz cnc Z axis the column or the quill ???
12:20 PM Lcvette: column
12:20 PM Lcvette: you never make it the quill
12:20 PM Lcvette: thats busch league
12:20 PM Lcvette: i would 100% go this route before a conversion everyday of the week..
12:20 PM Lcvette: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BROTHER-TC-229-CNC-820-16-5-x-11-8-x-10-10-000-RPM-H-319/143189600618?hash=item2156c3e96a:g:ruIAAOSwoutcm4lZ
12:20 PM roguish[m]: same on my BP. the knee is the Z. quill is still manual, locked in place.
12:22 PM Lcvette: that tc-229 is a running machine
12:23 PM Lcvette: can clean it up and make it look new do repairs and what not and be 1000 times farther ahead then a conversion for les money
12:24 PM Lcvette: has a small enough spindle motor power and axis power that you could run it on a small RPG no porblems. its only 4k lbs so a baby forklift to get it in your garage/shop is all that would be required
12:25 PM roguish[m]: check this one https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/tld/d/fremont-ganesh-cnc-bed-mill-40x20/6978168122.html
12:25 PM Lcvette: my buddy graham had his shipped from colorodo to florida and i wanna say it was just over a grand
12:26 PM Lcvette: mmm no enclosure
12:26 PM roguish[m]: my BP is 5500 lb
12:26 PM Lcvette: for that money i would be looking at a 3016 fadal
12:26 PM roguish[m]: yeah, no enclosure or ATC, but clean and big. close by. I know where the sell is.
12:27 PM Lcvette: not the best reason to jump on one
12:27 PM Lcvette: you will hate yourself for no enclosure
12:27 PM Lcvette: it will sling chips everywhere with the new adaptive paths
12:28 PM Lcvette: the grizzly needed one even
12:28 PM roguish[m]: got that going on now.
12:28 PM Lcvette: they spray chips while cutting
12:28 PM Lcvette: plus coolant is a must
12:28 PM Lcvette: and not fun without an enclosure
12:28 PM Lcvette: that machine would cost a fortune to enclose well
12:29 PM roguish[m]: look closely, there's a curtain rod thing all around mounted on the chip pan. clever.
12:30 PM Lcvette: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Used-Supermax-V56T-Vertical-Machining-Center/283609259308?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D8e358dafb8c54b1c89a8c6b1faef45bf%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D123802653557%26itm%3D283609259308%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

12:33 PM Lcvette: spend a little more get a sweeter machine
12:33 PM Lcvette: has a arm type atc
12:33 PM Lcvette: fast
12:33 PM Lcvette: santa paula cali
12:33 PM Lcvette: thats about what the syil range will be outfuitted
12:33 PM Lcvette: i would probably lean towards the fadal
12:33 PM Lcvette: more machine
12:34 PM Lcvette: lots of options but converting is more of a hobbyists thing
12:34 PM Lcvette: only so good you can make a tiny machine
12:34 PM roguish[m]: my biggest problem is managing my wants vs. needs, and expectations.
12:34 PM Lcvette: for the investment, i would go with a dedicated cnc machine first
12:35 PM Lcvette: conversion machine expectation should be low
12:35 PM Lcvette: brother tc machine expect 50 times the performance and capability
12:35 PM Lcvette: both will cost about the same amount once completed
12:35 PM Lcvette: to me thats a no brainer
12:36 PM * roguish[m] uploaded an image: image.png (121KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/eCCADkpdjDKXdXmpJciTjSOc >

12:38 PM Lcvette: Definitely the 7 over the 5
12:38 PM Lcvette: Not bad pricing
12:38 PM Lcvette: New machine, setup for linuxcnc
12:38 PM roguish[m]: a bit surprising the small cost difference there. still a lot of money.
12:38 PM Lcvette: Could run probe basic
12:39 PM Lcvette: Control the ATC e5c
12:39 PM Lcvette: Etc*
12:39 PM Lcvette: Be like a smaller version of my machine
12:39 PM Lcvette: Clean efficient and uogradable
12:40 PM Lcvette: Small footprint
12:40 PM Lcvette: I'd go that direction if you wanna be up and running with no headaches
12:42 PM roguish[m]: hey, thanks again for the opinions and info. enough chat for now. let's get back to $$$ making.........
12:43 PM Lcvette: lunch break here
12:43 PM Lcvette: lol
12:43 PM Lcvette: oh i would upgrade the spindle to the 10k bt30
12:44 PM Lcvette: if it doesn't auto upgrade with the atc addon
12:44 PM Lcvette: nm see its upgraded in the quote
12:44 PM Lcvette: yeah thats a stout machine!
12:44 PM Lcvette: tooling from the vendor i got from would be cheap too
12:45 PM Lcvette: ~$12 holder
12:45 PM Lcvette: very good quality
12:45 PM Lcvette: way better then tts type r8
12:45 PM Lcvette: any how good luck let me kno what you decide!
02:41 PM Tom_L: man what a day...

05:33 PM Lcvette: \o/
05:34 PM TurBoss: i can go ahead but until i fix I'll be creating releases
05:34 PM TurBoss: so we can end with v1.3.3.7 just trying to get travis to work
05:35 PM Tom_L: TurBoss, i don't have that one installed
05:35 PM TurBoss: is on the github i added some install notes

05:45 PM Lcvette: Finally the space to fit more buttonses
05:45 PM Tom_L: you'd need an index for that many buttons
05:45 PM TurBoss: very true

05:47 PM Lcvette: one miiiiillion buttons
05:48 PM Tom_L: those are 4k btw :)

06:32 PM TurBoss: Tom_L: strong python-fu on you?
06:34 PM TurBoss: no?
07:07 PM hazzy-m: Lcvette: I didn't read all the logs, but I saw you were woried about keeping the machine "clean",all you have to do is uninstall qtpyvcp, or if you want start compleatly from scratch delete your .local/lib/python2.7
07:08 PM hazzy-m: pip does not mess with your software sources or anything, so you don't have to worry about that, which is real nice
07:10 PM hazzy-m: TurBoss: I like the notifications!
07:10 PM TurBoss: cool thanks
07:14 PM Lcvette: hazzy: so I can uninstall and delete.local/lib/python2.7
07:14 PM Lcvette: Just Dave all my configs first
07:14 PM Lcvette: Save
07:14 PM Lcvette: Then reinstall?
07:16 PM Lcvette: Hazzy turbos is trying to do pip and wanted your guidance

07:25 PM TurBoss: yes
07:25 PM Lcvette: Lol
07:26 PM TurBoss: we need travis for probe_basic
07:26 PM TurBoss: i just copied .travis into pb repo
07:26 PM Lcvette: \o/
07:26 PM TurBoss: if I push to kcjengr master it will start ?
07:27 PM hazzy-m: I think I have to add it to travis first
07:27 PM hazzy-m: sek
07:28 PM hazzy-m: I should give you accsess too
07:28 PM TurBoss: i have
07:28 PM TurBoss: I activated the repo

08:54 PM Lcvette: hahaha
09:00 PM Lcvette: whats echo?
09:04 PM hazzy-m: `echo echo echo` in a terminal
09:04 PM hazzy-m: run*
09:05 PM * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/GAuRXYxGGnlFzViAZmFDARvf >
09:05 PM hazzy-m: lol
09:05 PM hazzy-m: do you see what it does?
09:06 PM hazzy-m: it just prints whatever is after echo to the terminal
09:06 PM Lcvette: yes
09:06 PM Lcvette: it echos underneat
09:06 PM Lcvette: minus the first echo command
09:06 PM hazzy-m: yep

09:07 PM * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/LlwNPrEwqCJQfcishLHeovsZ >
09:07 PM hazzy-m: travis was sad that he didn't have any work to do, thats' why he kept failing to do it, so I told him to echo something and he was happy
09:07 PM Tom_L: Lcvette did you get your repo updated to the right branch?
09:07 PM TurBoss: yo is back
09:07 PM hazzy-m: haha
09:07 PM Lcvette: yo
09:07 PM Lcvette: so is PB on pip now?

09:08 PM Lcvette: tom_l is here
09:08 PM Lcvette: tom_l whatchu talkin bhout?
09:08 PM Tom_L: where probe_basic was moved to
09:08 PM Tom_L: did you get yours updated?
09:09 PM Lcvette: not yet, they are fixing
09:10 PM * hazzy-m is going to make PB release v0.0.1 and see that hapens
09:10 PM TurBoss: \o/
09:10 PM TurBoss: thanks!
09:11 PM Lcvette: wowowow
09:11 PM Lcvette: \o/
09:11 PM TurBoss: cool versioner
09:11 PM Tom_L: fully functional?
09:12 PM Lcvette: what hazzy is doing giving probe basic versions
09:13 PM Lcvette: its pretty sweet!
09:13 PM TurBoss: https://travis-ci.org/kcjengr/probe_basic/builds/589732787
09:13 PM hazzy-m: ```
09:13 PM hazzy-m: kurt@toshiba:~/dev/cnc/qtpyvcp$ probe_basic -v
09:13 PM hazzy-m: QtPyVCP v0.2.3+364.g0ff18f6e5.dirty, Probe Basic vv0.0.1
09:13 PM Lcvette: \o/

09:13 PM Lcvette: vv?
09:13 PM hazzy-m: w

09:14 PM Lcvette: doubleu
09:14 PM Lcvette: lol
09:14 PM travis-ci: kcjengr/probe_basic#8 (v0.0.1 - ef0b1af : Kurt Jacobson): The build passed.

09:14 PM travis-ci: Build details : https://travis-ci.org/kcjengr/probe_basic/builds/589732787
09:14 PM hazzy-m: I think that is a QtPyVCP bug, never had v prefixed VCP versions befor
09:14 PM hazzy-m: SAWEEET!
09:14 PM hazzy-m: https://github.com/kcjengr/probe_basic/releases
09:15 PM Lcvette: \o/
09:15 PM TurBoss: hurray!
09:15 PM hazzy-m: all automagic
09:15 PM Lcvette: so how to make new versions now?
09:15 PM hazzy-m: all I had to do was tag and it updated the version files and published a release to github
09:15 PM Lcvette: whats the process
09:16 PM TurBoss: i see the tag
09:16 PM hazzy-m: all you do it tag in th kraken and push, increment the tag one number each time, so next would be v0.0.1
09:16 PM TurBoss: fantastic
09:16 PM Tom_L: question
09:16 PM Lcvette: v0.0.2?
09:17 PM Lcvette: and only version go to the new pip upgrade?
09:17 PM Tom_L: will the install fail since the xyzab.ini has a hardcoded /home/chris/... directory?
09:17 PM hazzy-m: if you previx commits with tags like DOC, BLD, BUG etc. it will automagicaly fill out the change log
09:17 PM Lcvette: Tom_L: you just reconfigure your system with chris as the new home file
09:17 PM hazzy-m: Tom_L: it don't think it will fail, but it also won't work lol
09:18 PM Lcvette: lol
09:18 PM hazzy-m: Lcvette: hahaha
09:18 PM Tom_L: i'm wondering how linuxcnc does that with their sims
09:18 PM hazzy-m: use relative paths
09:18 PM Lcvette: probably need to have hazzy or turboss put magic location calls in those lines
09:18 PM hazzy-m: ../../../../../../../../../../../../../../../.../../../../../../../.home/
09:18 PM hazzy-m: lol
09:18 PM Lcvette: i don'ty know those well enough to use them
09:19 PM * hazzy-m is getting silly and needs to sleep
09:19 PM TurBoss: good night
09:19 PM hazzy-m: happy because he sold a 1 million $ machine today :)
09:19 PM hazzy-m: gn8
09:19 PM TurBoss: great!
09:20 PM Lcvette: congraqts hazzy!
09:20 PM Lcvette: and thanks!
09:20 PM hazzy-m: absolutly! more tomarrow
09:20 PM Lcvette: bonus money?
09:20 PM Lcvette: drinks are on you
09:20 PM hazzy-m: yes, I get commision! so very happy
09:20 PM Lcvette: 10%?
09:20 PM Lcvette: \o/
09:21 PM hazzy-m: I wish! Thats what the sales men get, I get get the dregs, but it not too shabby
09:25 PM Tom_L: what sort of machines?
09:26 PM Lcvette: cnc bending/folding machines
09:26 PM Tom_L: nice
09:26 PM Lcvette: the big bad mamajamas
09:26 PM Tom_L: so who goes to set it up?
09:27 PM Lcvette: hazzy i think
09:27 PM Lcvette: he is the production engineer
09:27 PM Tom_L: nice
09:27 PM Lcvette: he does alot of demos and stuff
09:27 PM Tom_L: i had a friend that did that
09:27 PM Lcvette: turboss, so is that it? pip works now?
09:27 PM Tom_L: his company built presses
09:27 PM Tom_L: Lcvette try it and see
09:27 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: pip was skiped
09:27 PM Tom_L: :)
09:27 PM TurBoss: lol
09:28 PM Lcvette: ah
09:28 PM TurBoss: but we are close
09:28 PM Lcvette: but we needed travis first?
09:28 PM TurBoss: yes
09:28 PM Lcvette: oh no, not close
09:28 PM TurBoss: no no
09:28 PM Tom_L: need a build script for it?
09:28 PM TurBoss: is there
09:28 PM TurBoss: just need to enable
09:28 PM Lcvette: ok
09:29 PM Lcvette: ok i have a question maybe you can help me resolve
09:29 PM TurBoss: I should push 0.0.2?
09:29 PM TurBoss: to pip?
09:29 PM Lcvette: on the entries in probe basic, I myself feel like it needs something more
09:29 PM Tom_L: i thought it just turned 0.0.1 today
09:29 PM TurBoss: text entries
09:30 PM Lcvette: yes
09:30 PM Lcvette: they are very unsatisfying when you enter
09:30 PM Lcvette: nothing really happens to confirm the data has been accepted
09:30 PM Lcvette: does that make sense?
09:30 PM TurBoss: yes
09:30 PM TurBoss: we can have somethin on focus
09:31 PM TurBoss: ?
09:31 PM Tom_L: most cnc's are silent when they're done
09:31 PM Tom_L: need a marching band to play?
09:31 PM * Tom_L queues up the music
09:31 PM TurBoss: lol
09:31 PM Lcvette: they highlight in blue border so you know they are selected, i was thinking maybe when you hit enter the blue highlight and cursor go off
09:32 PM Tom_L: flashing red
09:32 PM Lcvette: tom_l its just a matter of it feeling completed once entered
09:32 PM Tom_L: alternate flashing red/yellow
09:32 PM Tom_L: i know
09:32 PM Lcvette: you have to physically click somewhere else cuirrently to get the cursor and highlight to turn off
09:32 PM Tom_L: did you grow up on windows?
09:33 PM Tom_L: "are you really really damn sure you want to delete this file"
09:33 PM Lcvette: yes like 98% of the world
09:33 PM Tom_L: linux just does it
09:33 PM TurBoss: until 15
09:33 PM Lcvette: that is fine but i want the users to feel confident in the action they performed
09:34 PM Lcvette: currently I know it accepts it and i still look at the screen after hitting enter and feel it is incomplete
09:34 PM Lcvette: besides, this gui was made to bring windows users over to linuxcnc
09:35 PM Lcvette: give it a base growth
09:35 PM Lcvette: once it is full out there and running on machines i think it will have an impact
09:35 PM Lcvette: the response i have gotten has been very positive so far
09:36 PM Tom_L: if i had a way to test/use it i would, but i don't
09:36 PM Tom_L: i can run the sim
09:37 PM TurBoss: ok /me is about to push to pip
09:37 PM TurBoss: pip pip
09:37 PM Tom_L: horray
09:37 PM TurBoss: https://travis-ci.org/kcjengr/probe_basic/builds/589738433

09:38 PM Lcvette: aio?

09:39 PM Lcvette: i don't know
09:39 PM Lcvette: im confused since we changed everything
09:39 PM TurBoss: are you on your dektop or on the machine?
09:39 PM Lcvette: desktop
09:40 PM TurBoss: ok
09:40 PM TurBoss: wich sim are you trying to run?
09:40 PM TurBoss: xyzab.ini
09:40 PM TurBoss: ok
09:40 PM TurBoss: ok
09:40 PM Tom_L: where did you say the source is stored?
09:41 PM TurBoss: is the atc searching for its motion pins
09:41 PM TurBoss: Tom_L: source of what?
09:41 PM Lcvette: i don't see xyzab.ini in the probe_basic config folder
09:41 PM Tom_L: probe_basic
09:41 PM TurBoss: http://github.com/kcjengr/probe_basic
09:42 PM Tom_L: locally
09:42 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: hmmmmm.....
09:42 PM TurBoss: locally installed?
09:42 PM TurBoss: to modify it?=
09:42 PM Tom_L: yes
09:42 PM Lcvette: oh wwait its under dev/probe_basic
09:42 PM TurBoss: you need to dev install
09:42 PM Lcvette: ?
09:42 PM Tom_L: i have it
09:42 PM TurBoss: ok did you
09:42 PM TurBoss: cd probe_basic
09:42 PM TurBoss: and
09:42 PM Lcvette: /home/chris/dev/probe_basic/config/xyzab/hallib/
09:42 PM Tom_L: i have dev installed yes
09:42 PM TurBoss: pip install --upgrade -e .
09:43 PM TurBoss: cool!
09:43 PM TurBoss: then edit the code fron that folder
09:43 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: I'm thinking
09:43 PM Lcvette: turboss do i do that pip in the main terminal?
09:43 PM TurBoss: no
09:43 PM Lcvette: or need to do it in the dev terminal
09:43 PM TurBoss: thats for tom
09:43 PM Lcvette: oh
09:43 PM TurBoss: ok
09:43 PM TurBoss: lets see
09:44 PM TurBoss: you have atc_motion.hal in your ini
09:44 PM TurBoss: but you are missing some lines
09:44 PM TurBoss: sek
09:44 PM TurBoss: I'll search
09:46 PM Lcvette: im not sure what im looking for
09:46 PM Lcvette: the one i opened was the xyzab.ini

09:46 PM TurBoss: in that line
09:46 PM TurBoss: you have to add
09:46 PM Lcvette: i found that hal file but i'm not sure where to add those aio
09:46 PM TurBoss: num_dio=20 num_aio=23
09:46 PM TurBoss: or 64 for both
09:47 PM TurBoss: ```

09:47 PM TurBoss: like this ^
09:48 PM Tom_L: those got left out of the load line?
09:48 PM Lcvette: done
09:49 PM Lcvette: no more errors
09:49 PM Lcvette: i'll push
09:49 PM TurBoss: ok but check mine
09:49 PM TurBoss: i did push too
09:50 PM TurBoss: sek
09:50 PM TurBoss: pls
09:50 PM Lcvette: k
09:51 PM Lcvette: i did the 20 23
09:51 PM TurBoss: ok didnt deploy
09:51 PM Lcvette: is there any reason to do 64 instead?
09:51 PM TurBoss: works?
09:51 PM Lcvette: does it slow down system performance?
09:51 PM TurBoss: we only need thoose
09:51 PM TurBoss: duno
09:51 PM Lcvette: k
09:51 PM Lcvette: tom_l do you know?
09:51 PM TurBoss: but that is because of the atc widget
09:51 PM Tom_L[m]: where did probe_basic move to?
09:52 PM TurBoss: moved?
09:52 PM Tom_L: no i don't know
09:52 PM Tom_L[m]: pip install git+https://github.com/kcjengr/probe_basic.git
09:52 PM Tom_L[m]: doesn't work now
09:52 PM TurBoss: checking
09:53 PM Lcvette: its broken?
09:53 PM Lcvette: :o
09:53 PM Lcvette: lol
09:53 PM Lcvette: tom borke it?
09:53 PM Lcvette: broke
09:53 PM TurBoss: oh no its broken

10:01 PM Lcvette: where did you put your probe_basic file?
10:01 PM Tom_L: i just need to know where it puts the code
10:01 PM Tom_L: i thought in probe_basic dir but it's empty
10:01 PM Lcvette: it puts the lotion in the basket
10:02 PM TurBoss: where is that probe basic dir?
10:02 PM TurBoss: you can start over and
10:02 PM Tom_L: /home/tom/probe_basic
10:02 PM TurBoss: git clone https://github.com/kcjengr/probe_basic.git
10:02 PM Lcvette: maybe it is broken from when he did the installation before it was ready?
10:02 PM TurBoss: then cd into probe_basic
10:02 PM Tom_L: it's empty
10:03 PM TurBoss: the its safe to remove
10:03 PM Lcvette: sounds like it did not install the files
10:03 PM Tom_L: but it did
10:03 PM Tom_L: and the sim runs
10:03 PM Tom_L: on xyz.ini
10:03 PM Lcvette: xyz.ini?
10:03 PM Tom_L: from yesterday
10:03 PM Lcvette: from?
10:03 PM Lcvette: qtpyvcp?
10:03 PM Tom_L: yes
10:03 PM TurBoss: thats because pip install git+https... put the code in ~/.local
10:04 PM Lcvette: it will because those are generic sims for any and all ui's
10:04 PM TurBoss: ok
10:04 PM TurBoss: is confussing i accept
10:04 PM TurBoss: :)
10:04 PM Lcvette: but you should/need to be running on the sims in the probe_basic file which you are missing because turboss said it put them in the wrong place?
10:04 PM TurBoss: it took me time to understand
10:04 PM Tom_L: i just need to find where the files are
10:05 PM TurBoss: Tom_L: you deleted the ~/probe_basic dir?
10:05 PM Lcvette: if not in probe_basic as you said you don't have them?
10:05 PM Tom_L: /home/tom/probe_basic is gone
10:05 PM TurBoss: or renamed
10:06 PM TurBoss: okay
10:06 PM TurBoss: now
10:06 PM TurBoss: ```
10:06 PM TurBoss: git clone https://github.com/kcjengr/probe_basic.git
10:07 PM TurBoss: that will create a directory in your home called probe_basic with stuff on it
10:07 PM Tom_L: but if i :linuxcnc /home/tom/qtpyvcp/sim/xyz.ini i can select probe basic and it runs
10:08 PM TurBoss: thats because its installed
10:08 PM TurBoss: its currently stored on .local
10:08 PM TurBoss: ~/.local/python...
10:08 PM TurBoss: but
10:08 PM Tom_L: where exactly is that?
10:08 PM TurBoss: sek
10:08 PM TurBoss: I'll search
10:09 PM TurBoss: ```
10:09 PM TurBoss: ~/.local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/probe_basic$
10:09 PM TurBoss: there
10:09 PM TurBoss: but you dont do modifications there
10:10 PM TurBoss: you have to install probe_basic other way using pip install -e . in the directory you just cloned
10:11 PM TurBoss: like cd ~/probe_basic
10:11 PM TurBoss: pip install -e .
10:12 PM TurBoss: that will tell python to use your ~/probe_basic directory as source of the app and not ~/.local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/probe_basic
10:12 PM TurBoss: so you can finally edit the code and see changes when running
10:12 PM Tom_L: ok it's installed
10:12 PM TurBoss: great
10:12 PM Tom_L: so i can edit that
10:13 PM TurBoss: yes the files in ~/probe_basic
10:13 PM Tom_L: k
10:13 PM TurBoss: its now from where it runs
10:13 PM Lcvette: \o/
10:13 PM Lcvette: sorted?
10:13 PM TurBoss: you can run editvcp probe_basic
10:14 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-09-25_23-08-32.png (26KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/mmgRzgxETZCqcKRnOzzgoTnY >
10:14 PM Lcvette: or you can make a luancher
10:15 PM Lcvette: and you can change the icon for probe basic too if you want
10:15 PM TurBoss: 😁

10:17 PM TurBoss: Lcvette: I'll add this as notes on the readme
10:18 PM Lcvette: add what as notes?
10:18 PM TurBoss: the user install or dev instal
10:18 PM TurBoss: * the user install or dev install
10:18 PM Lcvette: the launcher and icon?
10:18 PM Tom_L: ok launcher works
10:18 PM Lcvette: \o/
10:18 PM * Tom_L fixes it for a 600 x 800 vga monitor
10:20 PM Lcvette: good luck with that
10:20 PM Tom_L: :D
10:20 PM Lcvette: its going to implode
10:21 PM Lcvette: you have no idea of the complexity of all the different boxes and layout frames and once you make one change it literally is going to collapse
10:21 PM Tom_L: yes i do
10:21 PM Tom_L: and i have no plans to change it
10:21 PM Lcvette: you will spend weeks trying to sort it out
10:21 PM Lcvette: i built it and when i inadvertently messed it up it would friustrate me for days trying to find an offending component
10:22 PM Lcvette: lol
10:22 PM TurBoss: all/4
10:22 PM Lcvette: so, turboss now what?
10:22 PM TurBoss: click pus and docs is up
10:22 PM TurBoss: * click push and docs is up
10:23 PM TurBoss: ok
10:23 PM Lcvette: oh god kraken is confusing
10:23 PM TurBoss: :|
10:24 PM TurBoss: https://github.com/kcjengr/probe_basic
10:24 PM TurBoss: readme now has user and dev install process
10:24 PM Lcvette: i caught up to your top one
10:24 PM TurBoss: ok
10:24 PM Tom_L: does it retain tool and offset info on exit?
10:25 PM Lcvette: tool?
10:25 PM Lcvette: yes
10:25 PM Lcvette: offset no
10:25 PM Lcvette: offset is future project
10:25 PM Tom_L: G54?
10:25 PM Tom_L: etc
10:25 PM Lcvette: for tool you must save and reload
10:26 PM Lcvette: yes it retain offsets of the machine but not the ones in the offset table on the offsets page
10:26 PM Lcvette: thats a future project
10:26 PM Tom_L: so we're unable to use those
10:27 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-09-25_23-21-22.png (25KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/lLcqcvEgUryqNJCxRMgQoyxJ >
10:27 PM Lcvette: this table has not code behind it yet
10:27 PM Tom_L: currently those are all stored in the mymill.var file
10:27 PM Lcvette: its a placeholder
10:27 PM Tom_L: and the tool table
10:27 PM Tom_L: 2 files
10:27 PM TurBoss: that could be next
10:27 PM Lcvette: hazzy has some work to do to dig out that data
10:27 PM Lcvette: tool table works
10:28 PM TurBoss: oh
10:28 PM Tom_L: will the tool table read the tool fine on start up?
10:28 PM Tom_L: file*
10:29 PM Lcvette: yes
10:29 PM Tom_L: lcnc.tbl
10:29 PM Tom_L: etc
10:29 PM Tom_L: whatever it's named
10:29 PM Lcvette: turboss?
10:29 PM TurBoss: the one you put on your ini
10:29 PM Tom_L: ok
10:30 PM Tom_L: so it will read those tools and the tool offsets stored in the file on startup
10:30 PM Tom_L: but not the 'mymill.var' file
10:30 PM Tom_L: for the fixture offsets
10:31 PM TurBoss: i don't know that part
10:31 PM Lcvette: yes it will read those
10:31 PM Lcvette: but it won't put them in that table i posted
10:31 PM Tom_L: so if they're already set in the file it will use them
10:31 PM Lcvette: it should
10:31 PM Tom_L: :/
10:31 PM Lcvette: its just doing the same thing it would normally do an pull the data from the var file
10:32 PM Tom_L: it just doesn't fill in the screen yet
10:32 PM Tom_L: ?
10:32 PM Lcvette: what are you asking maybe im misunderstanding
10:32 PM Lcvette: explain your question a bit better
10:32 PM Tom_L: just checking to see where you're at with it
10:32 PM Tom_L: i have a g54 offset stored in mymill.var
10:33 PM Lcvette: everything works except ofset table and conversational
10:33 PM Tom_L: will probe_basic read that offset and load it in the screen?
10:33 PM TurBoss: not yet
10:33 PM Tom_L: ok
10:33 PM TurBoss: but if theres is something there
10:33 PM Tom_L: but the tool file will work
10:33 PM Lcvette: load it in what screen?
10:33 PM Lcvette: the main dro?
10:34 PM Tom_L: the fixture offsets screen
10:34 PM Lcvette: no
10:34 PM Lcvette: that table is dead
10:34 PM Tom_L: under the button 'offsets'
10:34 PM Lcvette: not connected
10:34 PM Tom_L: ok
10:34 PM Tom_L: get busy!
10:34 PM Tom_L: :)
10:34 PM Lcvette: thats hazy
10:34 PM TurBoss: whats missing thee?
10:34 PM TurBoss: * whats missing there?
10:34 PM Tom_L: to read the file and load the values
10:35 PM Lcvette: he needs to find some method to dig out offsets and allow us to write to them from the table
10:35 PM Lcvette: i assumed it was going to be very similar to the tool table
10:35 PM Lcvette: but he said it was different for some reason
10:35 PM Tom_L: where the button says 'save table'
10:35 PM Lcvette: not sure beyond that explanation
10:35 PM Tom_L: or 'reload table'
10:35 PM Tom_L: i understand
10:36 PM TurBoss: i think I know
10:36 PM Lcvette: save saves it to the linuxcnc tool table and reload reloads the table so it works
10:36 PM Tom_L: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/gcode/g-code.html#gcode:g54-g59.3
10:37 PM Tom_L: those get stored in the .var file
10:37 PM Tom_L: from X to R
10:37 PM TurBoss: yes but we need linuxcnc to tell us
10:37 PM TurBoss: not read the var file
10:37 PM TurBoss: * not reading the var file
10:38 PM Tom_L: right
10:39 PM Lcvette: For some reason we were able to have linuxcnc spit out that data
10:40 PM Lcvette: Hmmm
10:40 PM TurBoss: i'm idiot?
10:40 PM Lcvette: Wonder if we could pull it into a subroutine and then m68 it out?
10:40 PM TurBoss: lol g54offset work
10:40 PM TurBoss: we use g10 l20 etc..
10:41 PM Lcvette: You can fix the table?
10:41 PM Tom_L: you need one for each X thru R
10:41 PM TurBoss: duno
10:42 PM Lcvette: In a subroutine you could do
10:43 PM Lcvette: G54_x_offset = 5xxx
10:43 PM Lcvette: And run down all of them
10:44 PM TurBoss: we use to read that to draw the 3d plot
10:45 PM Lcvette: ?
10:46 PM Lcvette: wait its a table i forgot
10:46 PM Lcvette: im not sure how the tables work
10:47 PM Lcvette: if they were individual lline edits we could name them and send data from subroutine and could pull data frmo the offsets parameters in the subroutine then m68 e q them into the line edits
10:47 PM Lcvette: i do that for probing
10:48 PM Lcvette: to kick out the probed position
10:54 PM TurBoss: ok i have an idea but I would like to know what jacinto says
10:54 PM TurBoss: so I'm gona sleep
10:54 PM Lcvette: jacinto
10:54 PM Lcvette: ?
10:54 PM TurBoss: jazzy
10:55 PM Lcvette: ah
10:55 PM TurBoss: ok n8
10:55 PM Tom_L: l8r
10:55 PM Lcvette: night turboss
10:55 PM TurBoss: I leave the plan here:
10:55 PM TurBoss: the plan is to use the same methoth the 3d plot does to get the g5x offsets
10:56 PM Lcvette: cool
10:57 PM Tom_L: those are the only 2 tables i can think of that need to be read / written
10:57 PM Lcvette: they are internall
10:58 PM Lcvette: just not displayed yet
10:58 PM Tom_L: ok
10:58 PM Lcvette: meaning if you have a G55 offset it is stored in linuxcnc,
10:58 PM Lcvette: the table just isn't displaying anything
10:58 PM Tom_L: the mind is severed from the body
10:58 PM Lcvette: but the underlying functionality is still there no different then axis or gmoccapy
10:58 PM Lcvette: etc
10:59 PM Lcvette: when you change to that offset it will display in the main dro's
10:59 PM Tom_L: just not on the setup page
10:59 PM Lcvette: no but it will
10:59 PM Lcvette: once its sorted
11:00 PM Lcvette: however its no different then any other ui currently and won't stop you from being able to use it
11:00 PM Tom_L: i think it looks awesome so far
11:00 PM Lcvette: the offsets all work properly i tested that while probing
11:00 PM Lcvette: first youve looked through it?
11:00 PM Tom_L: i haven't looked at it all either
11:01 PM Lcvette: ah
11:01 PM Tom_L: i've seen bits and pieces as you've been working on em
11:01 PM Lcvette: go to the probing page and enter something in the probing parameters and hit enter
11:01 PM Tom_L: it's all shut down for the night
11:01 PM Lcvette: ah ok
11:02 PM Tom_L: and so am i
11:03 PM Tom_L: i'd need a new pc on the mill in order to use it though
11:03 PM Tom_L: not fast enough to run preempt-rt
11:03 PM Lcvette: grab one of those HP Elite 8300 USDT pc's
11:04 PM Lcvette: they are very good latency for rt_preempt
11:04 PM Tom_L: i have a mb but no box for it
11:04 PM Lcvette: and very cheap
11:04 PM Lcvette: snd compact
11:04 PM Tom_L: and it's not a priority right now
11:05 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: IMG_20190925_235921715.jpg (73KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/UZFXasIAWHdUVkOIEEwzERkl >
11:06 PM Lcvette: awesome little workhorse for linuxcnc and nice and tiny for easy mounting on machines

11:40 PM Lcvette: turboss, when you wake up, i have a problem with the designer ui changes not showing up in probe basic sim
11:48 PM Lcvette: i think somehow that the qtdesigner file being pulled up is saving somewhere other then the new probe_basic dev ui file maybe?
11:51 PM Lcvette: i see the probe basic qss file being loaded when you start probe basic is pulling from the qtpyvcp dev folder
11:51 PM Lcvette: /home/chris/dev/qtpyvcp/examples/probe_basic/probe_basic.qss
11:51 PM * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-09-26_00-46-01.png (139KB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/skHiclEmWTDjFLzNWDMXxadD >
11:52 PM Lcvette: so im guessing it is also pulling the ui file from that folder as well
11:53 PM Lcvette: yup
11:54 PM Lcvette: it is calling the ui and qss and im guessing all the other important files from the qtpyvcp dev folder when you run the sim
11:54 PM Lcvette: need to fix but im not sure how
