02:53 AM rifraf: rue_mohr flashing as in a can upload code to it, does that have a new name?
03:08 AM rifraf: programming the atmega
03:44 AM rifraf: oh fickedy fuck, why can't i buy a decent spring, guess i will just have to go direct to century or someone
03:45 AM rifraf: but first gonna try work, surely there are some decent springs off an old wheelchair or something, need at least 1/4" music wire diameter
04:23 AM Tom_L: maybe one of those places would get ya some wire
04:23 AM rifraf: thats why i will ask the electric chair mechanics at work first
04:23 AM Tom_L: would cost to much to have a custom one made
04:24 AM rifraf: thanks for the link though, will see what they hace, the local century springs only wind upto 4.5mm wire, and have those already
04:24 AM rifraf: todays were 5mm wire but not happy with the spring forcre
04:24 AM rifraf: yep need off the shelf or salvaged
04:25 AM rifraf: i don't think 6 or 8 mm spring steel too easy to form in a vice
04:25 AM Tom_L: wind it around a mandrel on the lathe
04:26 AM Tom_L: drill a hole and put the wire in the hole and wind it
04:26 AM Tom_L: you'd have to figure out the space between the wires
04:26 AM rifraf: yep i know what you are saying, if so easy why don't they just sell on aliexpress
04:27 AM rifraf: i want about 2.5" long, about 5 turns max
04:27 AM Tom_L: maybe you're just not looking hard enough :)
04:27 AM Tom_L: motorcycle shock spring
04:27 AM Tom_L: mono shock etc
04:27 AM Tom_L: even some bicycles
04:27 AM rifraf: yeah, it took a while to find the 8 or 10 i have so far, nearly have a spring factory here now
04:28 AM rifraf: pogo stick :P
04:28 AM rifraf: am pretty a big powered chair should have some, on the older ones anyway
04:29 AM Tom_L: belleville are too stiff?
04:29 AM rifraf: i will see what they say in the morning
04:29 AM rifraf: yeah, thats the other end of the strong scale, well i reckon i can compress them ok, just gonna cost $100 to get the amount i need
04:29 AM rifraf: but have spent that in wrong springs already :/
04:30 AM Tom_L: that's what most tool changers use
04:31 AM rifraf: 300 lb force per mm was what i measured on the big bellvilles
04:31 AM rifraf: i was close to a great grip with the ones i had, maybe this 5mm one an extra 10mm long will have enough force, guess i will install now and see
04:32 AM rifraf: spewin that the fet driver board is dead , maybe shorted out the voltage reg, is getting power but no action or leds
04:33 AM rifraf: have a space though, just a bit lazy
04:33 AM rifraf: spare*
04:34 AM rifraf: need to find hobby servo cables because thats the sockets for the inputs, think i know wat box they are in
04:35 AM rifraf: filled 2 big bins with leaves sticks and other cyclone debree this arvo, so nice to have a day of sunshine
05:34 AM rifraf: well after all my whining the new springs are much stronger than what i had, once i took the old one off and compared
05:35 AM rifraf: i must be getting to strong from some physical work all day :)
05:35 AM rifraf: the old spring feels alot softer than it used to
05:39 AM rifraf: the router operator was teaching me how to change collets and clean them today, he was doing them up way too tight i think, so i did what he said, he tryed to tighten it after i had a go to show me it was not tight enough, and could not get any tighter :) , i smiled
06:21 AM rifraf: okies, chuck working controlling valve with 9V battery
06:22 AM rifraf: enough for today, would still like some more spring force though, is working with as little as 2 bar, so much force left in pnuematic cylinders
06:23 AM rifraf: but can start trying to control from smc5 controller next
06:25 AM rifraf: can still turn stock in collet with some effort when locked, using more force than tool bit will be exerting though
07:36 AM rue_mohr: rifraf, no, no heavy springs on those, I wonder if a cut down suspension spring for a motorbike from the auto wrecker
07:36 AM rue_mohr: hah tom ha same idea
07:38 AM rue_mohr: rifraf, lets see that fet driver you got again?
08:09 AM rue_mohr: https://github.com/nopnop2002/ESP8266-UART-to-UART-Bridge
03:10 PM polprog: rue_mohr: what did you need with ch32?
03:43 PM rifraf: rue_mohr https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/32746854103.html (current) and will change to this https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/32982064246.html
06:46 PM rue_mohr: polprog, I'm using it as a serial ADC, having newb issues
06:47 PM rue_mohr: serial was coming out an unexpected pin to start with
08:13 PM aandrew: I'm picturing you holding your finger on the pin like trying to stop a water leak
08:27 PM rue_mohr: :]
11:44 PM rue_mohr: needs to: go to bed, sleep, go to work tomorrow
11:44 PM rue_mohr: wants to: go into shop, do stock count of 7 segment displays and design pcb for them
11:45 PM rue_mohr: will do: neither and also not get sleep required for work tomorrow
