12:00 AM rifraf: nice
12:15 AM rifraf: i dunno wat to do
12:15 AM rue_mohr: first time working with bondo
12:15 AM rue_mohr: not first time sanding all the filler off something and realizing I'd gone too far
12:15 AM rifraf: you need some silisis
12:15 AM rue_mohr: ?
12:15 AM rifraf: the stuff i invented to make foxys face and skin
12:15 AM rue_mohr: oh
12:15 AM rue_mohr: no, I'm going with furred cyborg, it avoids most of all that
12:15 AM rifraf: was long ago, am sure you won't remember, but i mixed silicon with another compound and make a really nice skin, not sure if that was done before you came here
12:15 AM rue_mohr: yup, I remember the skins you were doin
12:15 AM rifraf: had a chemical reaction that make a nice foam and with the filler i mixed was non greasy and nice textured, still have it and have never degraded
12:15 AM rue_mohr: cool!
12:15 AM rue_mohr: sorry, I'm gonna take a nap
12:15 AM rue_mohr: ponder directions...
12:15 AM rifraf: was just not very flexible, am sure todays silicons are better
12:15 AM rifraf: enough for mouth, but not eyelids
02:34 AM VanUnamed_ is now known as VanUnamed
02:57 AM Rue_bed: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/employment-business/tariffs
02:57 AM Rue_bed: oof, yup, its war
03:00 AM rifraf: now you gonna get 50% tarriffs :)
03:01 AM Rue_bed: not how that works there rif
03:01 AM Rue_bed: I'm in canada
03:02 AM rifraf: o canada o canada
03:02 AM Rue_bed: all the stuff listed we dont really get from the usa anyhow
03:02 AM Rue_bed: e.g. eggs
03:02 AM Rue_bed: all the milk and eggs at our grocery stores are from canada
03:02 AM rifraf: wats the big thing about eggs lately
03:03 AM Rue_bed: us is having a bird flu outbreak
03:03 AM Rue_bed: they are havin to kill all their chooks
03:03 AM rifraf: ah
03:04 AM Rue_bed: where I am, has a large wood export industry
03:04 AM Rue_bed: but... we export overeas, not to the usa...
03:04 AM Rue_bed: sadly we get lumber from the usa
03:04 AM Rue_bed: which is stupid and silly
03:05 AM Rue_bed: lots of our meat slaughtering is done in the usa, again, stupid and silly
03:05 AM rifraf: yep, thought you guys had lotsa forest
03:05 AM Rue_bed: we farm the aninmals here and send them over, (wtf?)
03:05 AM Rue_bed: we do have lots of natural resources
03:05 AM Rue_bed: which the usa has been laying claim to for ages now
03:06 AM Rue_bed: some of our politicians aren't helping, been jacking the system and we been losing jobs on it
03:06 AM Rue_bed: we used to have 3 lumber mills here
03:07 AM Rue_bed: then the raw log excport thing happened and now we have 0
03:07 AM rifraf: wow
03:07 AM Rue_bed: only maybe 200 jobs or so tho
03:07 AM rifraf: guess your polititions are a bit to blame
03:07 AM Rue_bed: yes, I expect some pockets got lined
03:08 AM Rue_bed: but now its all gonna go to hell
03:08 AM Rue_bed: we have a lot of **** to figure out kinda quick
03:09 AM Rue_bed: how is it your the only person alive on the internet rifraf?
03:09 AM Rue_bed: I'm not talking right now, or today, but for the last like 10 years
03:09 AM rifraf: dedication
03:09 AM Rue_bed: tom is kinda here, fading fast
03:10 AM rifraf: will put new spring on collet chuck later
03:10 AM Rue_bed: a 9 year old wants to learn programming
03:10 AM rifraf: and gonna draw a bit
03:10 AM Rue_bed: should I teach some javascript?
03:10 AM Rue_bed: I think its too much for 9
03:10 AM rifraf: yeah, and is it worth learning?
03:11 AM Rue_bed: sort of more a 12 thing
03:11 AM Rue_bed: javascript?
03:11 AM rifraf: yeah
03:11 AM Rue_bed: yea, cause everyone has it
03:11 AM Rue_bed: no install
03:11 AM rifraf: python better i reckon
03:11 AM Rue_bed: maybe
03:11 AM rifraf: more practical for many things
03:11 AM Rue_bed: its also on my 3 language list
03:12 AM Rue_bed: the other is basic
03:12 AM Rue_bed: just getting used to programming is a good step, no need to worry about what laguage
03:12 AM Rue_bed: basic is nice cause its low overhead
03:13 AM Rue_bed: for kids, working with graphics is nice
03:13 AM Rue_bed: python doesn't offer as much along that line as javascript
03:14 AM rifraf: maybe, but i made lotsa cool html and even a gui
03:14 AM rifraf: cool images for graphs and data
03:14 AM Rue_bed: I learned by hacking
03:14 AM Rue_bed: did you?
03:15 AM rifraf: learned because i wanted to make something
03:15 AM Rue_bed: "I dont understand all this code, but I think I know how to modify it to what I want"
03:15 AM rifraf: yep, but i want to do a bit more
03:15 AM Rue_bed: yea
03:15 AM rifraf: never refined the code
03:15 AM Rue_bed: if you have the drive, the learning happens
03:16 AM Rue_bed: rifraf, your doing more to keep me sane than I think there is credit for
03:16 AM rifraf: man i had to learn fourier transforms and so much stuff in last year
03:16 AM Rue_bed: heh
03:16 AM rifraf: just because of a spinning top
03:16 AM Rue_bed: the heavy stuff
03:16 AM Rue_bed: heh
03:17 AM Rue_bed: cant sleep again
03:17 AM Rue_bed: doesn't matter, no work tommorow
03:17 AM Rue_bed: locked into being tired continiously sucks tho
03:17 AM rifraf: how long do you think i can spin a top for
03:18 AM rifraf: with a single snap of fingers
03:18 AM Rue_bed: geez, you already said you had one going like a day, which is crazy
03:18 AM rifraf: they would put you to sleep well
03:18 AM rifraf: nono, not a day
03:19 AM rifraf: well one does but has a coil and battery under it
03:19 AM rifraf: goes forever with a 8V
03:19 AM Rue_bed: :]
03:19 AM rifraf: but thats just a gimmick i found
03:19 AM rifraf: 9V*
03:19 AM rifraf: without any gimmicks is hard to get past 10 min
03:20 AM rifraf: can do 13 to 14
03:20 AM rifraf: but with resin stand over 1 hour\
03:20 AM Rue_bed: hmm
03:21 AM rifraf: watching it spin about 5 RPM right now, and barely slows down
03:21 AM rifraf: magic
03:22 AM rifraf: well well, just what i need https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGntt6eInis
03:23 AM rifraf: is my printer type in that video
03:24 AM Rue_bed: need to work on my path to being a cyborg...
03:25 AM Rue_bed: zzz
10:02 AM polprog: Rue_bed: i got some work to do on the two uni projects
10:02 AM polprog: but ill be cleaning up the lab space, might sit down to the 8051s again
10:05 AM rue_mohr: oh, I dont think you will get time...
10:07 AM rue_mohr: usd:cad still seems to be in the normal noise margin
10:08 AM rue_mohr: but the eur implies their both crashing
10:08 AM polprog: oh yeah its going down
10:09 AM rue_mohr: I'm guessing todays graph finishes at -2.5%
10:09 AM polprog: that depends on the time frame
10:09 AM rue_mohr: right, I suppose this is a steady ~-1%/day
10:10 AM rue_mohr: crazy eh?
10:10 AM rue_mohr: I need to work out (later) where the -8% is from where I put a bunch of money into a eur account
10:11 AM rue_mohr: (they charge 4% on transfer in/out)
10:11 AM rue_mohr: thats my breakeven, I suspect in about 6 mo it will be atleast that
10:12 AM rue_mohr: I sort of suspect rump triggered a global depression
10:12 AM polprog: yeah it fell 4% in the last 5 days
10:13 AM polprog: usdpln, usdeur is -4% vs usdcad
10:13 AM rue_mohr: not sure if I shoudl have put almost all my money into the eur
10:13 AM rue_mohr: thats not disaster stores start tho
10:14 AM polprog: id put some into eur, some into chf and some into idk
10:14 AM polprog: japanese yen?
10:14 AM rue_mohr: I think the cad will hold stronger than the usd
10:14 AM rue_mohr: I cant open a yen account
10:14 AM polprog: you can always buy cash in yen
10:14 AM rue_mohr: hmmm
10:15 AM rue_mohr: I wonder what their charge is for that
10:15 AM polprog: hm right
10:15 AM polprog: yeah yen is a weird currency
10:15 AM polprog: chf is pretty solid
10:16 AM rue_mohr: its if not in north america and its not tied to usd, its probably stable
09:59 PM rue_mohr: https://stooq.pl/c/?s=cadeur&c=5d&t=l&a=lg&r=cadusd
