12:32 AM rue_mohr: :)
01:08 AM rifraf: rue_mohr hopefully will encourage your rewiring
01:09 AM rue_mohr: :]
01:09 AM rue_mohr: I lost my book of notes on the machine
01:09 AM rifraf: am tempted to move around the inside of control box now, having the servo driver in there would be a big help
01:09 AM rue_mohr: which is a HUGE setback
01:09 AM rue_mohr: I have to re-reverse engineer it
01:09 AM rue_mohr: and I HATE redoing work
01:09 AM rifraf: do what i am doing, making sure i right down all the colours for each connection
01:09 AM rifraf: and start machine up after every axis change to make sure its still working :)
01:10 AM rue_mohr: I had it all
01:10 AM rue_mohr: I worked out everything
01:10 AM rue_mohr: and the book is missing
01:10 AM rifraf: bit the bullet and bought 2 rolls of multicore wire today, 5 and 7 core trailer wire
01:10 AM rue_mohr: its not in the two places I religiously always put it
01:10 AM rue_mohr: or anywhere else
01:10 AM rifraf: so far only 1 connection that wants 8 wires, but i think i have found a redundant wire that might assist
01:11 AM rifraf: all motors except the servo have aviation plugs now
01:12 AM rifraf: and dont need to 8 wire connector if i get servo driver into the small control box
01:12 AM rifraf: the book eh
01:12 AM rifraf: can imagine it was important
01:13 AM rifraf: will be like the dead sea scrolls, in 2000 years someone will find it and think you were the leonardo of the 21st century
01:14 AM rifraf: i seem to have a 36V psu just for the 500w spindle, and could use it for the closed loop servo but seems i have it running with only 24v
01:34 AM rue_mohr: I'm trying not to think about it so I dont go into a rage
01:34 AM rue_mohr: I dont need anymore rage
01:43 AM rifraf: yep no rampaging raging rue please
02:20 AM rifraf: servo controller gonna fit, but looks like cable tie hold in for now, mounts in all the wrong places, designed for deeper box
02:21 AM rifraf: only had to drill and tap 4 holes to remount the 3 remaining standard servo drivers, was enough threads in a few right places
02:22 AM rifraf: rue_mohr remake your book as you rewire it, you made the book in the first place
02:26 AM rifraf: me bearings are in the country, will only take as long as coming from china to arrive at doorstep :/
02:26 AM rifraf: the port is less than 45 minutes drive
02:27 AM rifraf: and these are likely air freight, only 25 minutes away
02:27 AM rifraf: will have to inspect the bearing in customs for a few days
02:28 AM rifraf: but gives me time to rewire this box, thanks for the inspiration rue_mohr
02:28 AM rifraf: need to go fishing as well
02:59 AM rifraf: rue_mohr a 5C collet block set arrived as well today, some nice examples of 5c taper to copy and hone my part
02:59 AM rifraf: and has a lever to manually pull in the collect, gives me good idea of how far it can move in
03:00 AM rifraf: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007953477117.html
03:01 AM rifraf: will also make the collects usefull for the manual lathe, to put in 3 and 4 jaw chucks
03:04 AM rifraf: yay cnc still working with servo driver inside box
03:05 AM rifraf: is so tidy after all the addons last 2 months
03:06 AM rifraf: still need to fix a few ratty cables to servo drive, that took some troubleshooting to get right
03:06 AM rifraf: but hidden inside control boxfor now
04:07 AM rifraf: have decreed this become a 2 day rewire to do it right, just found big oops
04:09 AM rifraf: first time this control panel has made it to dining table, umbilical cords severed
04:09 AM rifraf: https://imgur.com/a/dTzHwkm
04:13 AM rifraf: couldn't of made stuff fit this well if i planned it, am so happy
04:14 AM rifraf:  reckon i deserve hand wheel controller now
04:16 AM rifraf: can you see what the big oops was from that image?
04:27 AM Tom_L: mine looks worse http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/rue/Control2.jpg
04:27 AM Tom_L: :)
04:29 AM rifraf: you have much more room so still easy to navigate
04:30 AM Tom_L: my vfd is outside the box
04:30 AM rifraf: mine was a spare box i had, only thing not inside that does not matter is 2.2kw VFD, it can just mount below
04:30 AM rifraf: yep
04:31 AM rifraf: have room dor 1 more driver or some bits
04:32 AM rifraf: but some air would be good, happy as with layout, will fix wiring over next few days
04:35 AM Tom_L: i put a side fan in mine
04:38 AM rifraf: yep good idea, this box was never closed properly yet
04:39 AM rifraf: but nothing really got hot even in summer peaks
04:40 AM rifraf: the servo motor is a blessing, compared to closed loop stepper its always cold
04:42 AM rifraf: and the 36v psu for old spindle was using 1/2 the space nearly, guess i should sell that kit now
04:43 AM rifraf: spent a bit with spindle, collets, psu, speedo and driver
04:45 AM rifraf: $200AUD for the set if anyone wants, unless i can think of another purpose for the spindle, it did mill steel keyways on 50mm shafts
07:56 AM rue_mohr: mm
07:56 AM rue_mohr: had to stay at work till almost 10pm cause 3 of the 4 elevators broke down
07:57 AM rue_mohr: rifraf, I have a 3d printable hand controller if you want
07:58 AM rue_mohr: it operates as a text IO device, I have avr code to intercept the cnc controller and inject steps
07:58 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1330801.jpg
07:58 AM rue_mohr: the one off the front of the table
07:59 AM rue_mohr: with the green black and red buttons
07:59 AM rue_mohr: it runs on 4 wires, 12V supply and proper rs232 serial
07:59 AM rue_mohr: so if that power shorts its ok
08:00 AM rue_mohr: I have the diagrams for a current limited supply and the step interceptor
08:00 AM rue_mohr: that unit is easy to make
08:00 AM rue_mohr: it uses a cdrom motor as a wheel encoder (works good) and a 3d printed keyboard with the normal little pushbuttons
08:01 AM rue_mohr: I think I just dropped a pro-mini (m328) into that one
08:01 AM rue_mohr: obviously with a max232
08:01 AM rue_mohr: 16x1 text lcd
01:05 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: you repair the elevators too?
01:05 PM aandrew: I thought would have had to be handled by the elevator company due to legal risk
01:36 PM rifraf: sounds cool rue
01:43 PM rifraf: but already got one of these, first one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003832853510.html
04:34 PM rifraf: ok control box rewired https://imgur.com/a/qEPjRVA
04:34 PM rifraf: is amazing, still turns on, but need to go plug in all the motors again
04:52 PM rifraf: and everything works as it should, cannot ask for more than that
06:16 PM rue_mohr: aandrew, it is, but we had to hand operate an elevator till he had another one working
06:17 PM rue_mohr: cant have all the elevators down at once in a hospital, if someone needs to get rushed to surgery it gets hard without them
06:18 PM rue_mohr: mm I think mines better
06:18 PM rue_mohr: no latency
06:18 PM rue_mohr: oh thats not the wireless one tho...
06:18 PM rue_mohr: rifraf, thats the one that works with mach?
06:19 PM rifraf: no, is standalone
06:20 PM rifraf: had for over a year and worked it a bit, is not bad unit
06:20 PM rue_mohr: what does it connect to?
06:20 PM rifraf: nothing
06:20 PM rifraf: stand alone, i feed it via a usb stick
06:20 PM rue_mohr: no, I mean signals
06:21 PM rifraf: all the the motor and end stops and spindles connect to it
06:21 PM rue_mohr: did they just wire the sensors direct to the connector?
06:21 PM rue_mohr: hu?
06:21 PM rifraf: are we talking about my control box?
06:21 PM rue_mohr: its a db15, right?
06:21 PM rue_mohr: the pendany
06:21 PM rue_mohr: the pendant
06:21 PM rifraf: https://imgur.com/a/qEPjRVA
06:22 PM rifraf: oh now i got you
06:22 PM rifraf: not wireless, plugs into the MPG port on first image
06:22 PM rue_mohr: huh
06:22 PM rifraf: like a DB40 connector
06:22 PM rifraf: look at link
06:22 PM rue_mohr: oh, so its got 3 rows?
06:23 PM rifraf: back of controller, is big port and image with pinout
06:23 PM rifraf: yep
06:23 PM rifraf: is in middle of picture all alone
06:23 PM rue_mohr: yea... but
06:23 PM rifraf: MPG port
06:23 PM rifraf: but?
06:24 PM rue_mohr: ok i found a web ref
06:24 PM rue_mohr: db15
06:24 PM rifraf: nope
06:24 PM rue_mohr: https://docs.masso.com.au/application/common/ui_assets/uploads/6d413339a30faf2ec1832dac260e57dd.png
06:24 PM rue_mohr: no?
06:25 PM rifraf: https://www.shaogecnc.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/SMC-5-5-N-N-connect-handwheel.jpg
06:25 PM rue_mohr: that one is just all the signals straigt out of the pendant
06:25 PM rifraf: no, look at my link
06:25 PM rue_mohr: ok
06:26 PM rue_mohr: but its still dumb as a brick, interesting
06:26 PM rue_mohr: mine is just a 4 conductor RJ45
06:26 PM rue_mohr: huh
06:26 PM rifraf: yep, just a few switches and a dial on the end of a wire
06:26 PM rue_mohr: yea
06:27 PM rifraf: thats why cheaper to buy, was about $65 with postage
06:27 PM rue_mohr: I'm not sure if its safe for me to take my shoes off, or if a call will come in as soon as I do
06:27 PM rifraf: did you see the rewiring?
06:27 PM rue_mohr: ok, ouch
06:27 PM rifraf: got it all done
06:27 PM rue_mohr: yea, it looks good
06:28 PM rue_mohr: whats the big controller in there with your mpg port?
06:28 PM rifraf: the smc5-5-n-n
06:28 PM rifraf: its my 5 axis stand alone controller
06:29 PM rifraf: https://www.shaogecnc.com/smc5-5-n-n/
06:29 PM rifraf: managed to get the whole AC servo driver in as well, all so much more organsised
06:31 PM rue_mohr: here I am with my $3 arduino and grbl
06:32 PM rifraf: heh, and am sure you will makes your do just what you need as well
06:33 PM rifraf: but i needed a solution to just kinda work, enough time making the machine to worry about trying to make the controller
06:33 PM rifraf: was enough hours to get everything they way i wanted
06:35 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/pendant/new/Pendant2.jpg
06:35 PM Tom_L: my fancy pendant :)
07:07 PM rue_mohr: :]
08:52 PM rifraf: 4L of fence paint now on fence, need another few
08:52 PM rifraf: its nice tom yep, do you use it often?
08:53 PM rifraf: time for 4L of oil and stain on the stairs
09:31 PM Tom_L: some
09:31 PM Tom_L: i like milling things but did it alot for testing linuxcnc etc
09:50 PM Tom_L: helped debug a gui front user buildable front end for linuxcnc
09:50 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/touch-probe3.png
09:50 PM Tom_L: an example i did using it
09:50 PM Tom_L: also a whole set of probe routines etc
10:49 PM rue_mohr: rifraf, you still doing painting trading for the places your living at?
10:53 PM rifraf: ok chores done
10:53 PM rifraf: yes helpin my mum out at
10:54 PM rifraf: makin the place sellable
10:54 PM rue_mohr: ah
10:54 PM rue_mohr: hmm, wasn't your mom involved in the toher place
10:54 PM rue_mohr: ?
10:54 PM rifraf: another few loads of trees and bamboo ready to go to dump
10:54 PM rifraf: i been here  a few months only, since break up
10:55 PM rue_mohr: I mean the place on sky close
10:56 PM rifraf: nah
10:56 PM rifraf: that was a nice old couple, i forget who they were
10:56 PM rifraf: have not been home since i was 14
10:57 PM rifraf: that was good days work, still beats real work
10:57 PM rifraf: now wat to do, bearings released from customs but likely not here till monday :/
10:58 PM rue_mohr: do they ever hold things for ransom?
10:58 PM rifraf: i guess back to designing the motor plate, have refined it somewat already
10:58 PM rifraf: nah
10:58 PM rifraf: gets from china to here in like 4 - 5 days, then i wait about the same to come from airport that is 20 minutes away
10:59 PM rifraf: am in 2nd biggest city now, should be a bit better
10:59 PM rifraf: with dhl thing get here in a day after landing
11:01 PM rifraf: the worst i will end up with from this bar feeder is a nice 5C collet setup, so not too phased with how it goes from here, all has gone according to plans so far
11:02 PM rifraf: and thats gonna be a huge improvement to making pens and tops
