01:43 AM polprog: i gotta check the difference between '373 and '374
07:35 AM rue_mohr: 373 is no good for an active low signal
07:36 AM polprog: ahh
07:36 AM polprog: okay
07:55 AM rue_mohr: heh, thought you would already be gone
07:56 AM rue_mohr: on the github for the 8051boards, I put the pcb eratta and some example code
07:56 AM rue_mohr: https://github.com/ruenahcmohr/8051recyclerPCB
08:20 AM polprog: cool
08:20 AM polprog: im still at work now so im on irc all day
08:20 AM polprog: but ill take a look when im back home
08:21 AM rue_mohr: yep, the RGB code is a nice test
08:21 AM polprog: ill implement the errata and order some pcbs
08:21 AM rue_mohr: its too bad I couldn't have squeezed some buttons on the pcb too for user inputs
08:21 AM polprog: likely ill also finish the power supply card, and order that too
08:21 AM rue_mohr: power supply?
08:22 AM polprog: that one im making since forever now
08:22 AM rue_mohr: oh
08:22 AM polprog: you said it should be 4 or 6 layers in the discord
08:22 AM rue_mohr: you dont talk or post much about stuff
08:23 AM rue_mohr: oh, the pcie?
08:23 AM polprog: ytah
08:23 AM polprog: yeah*
08:23 AM rue_mohr: yea, high freq signals
08:23 AM polprog: it just uses a pcie connector, but all pins are power
08:23 AM polprog: its all DC
08:23 AM rue_mohr: oh
08:23 AM polprog: :D
08:23 AM rue_mohr: OH
08:23 AM rue_mohr: well, extra layers really help to spread heat
08:23 AM polprog: i didnt talk about it because i made the previous revision like a year ago
08:24 AM polprog: i gotta do 4 layers because i dont have space to run the 12V input to all 3 power supplies
08:24 AM rue_mohr: mmm flood what you can to spread heat :]
08:24 AM polprog: thats right
08:24 AM rue_mohr: so
08:24 AM polprog: most heat will be on the linear regulator thats after the buck
08:24 AM rue_mohr: why pcie?
08:25 AM polprog: the sockets are cheap on aliexpress
08:25 AM rue_mohr: hah
08:25 AM rue_mohr: their like 1-2A tho?
08:25 AM polprog: hm, thats enough for me
08:25 AM rue_mohr: huh
08:25 AM rue_mohr: bench power supply then?
08:26 AM polprog: it's a card that takes 12V in and generates +8, -8 and -24 (or in general, three buck converters, two for negative output)
08:26 AM rue_mohr: ok
08:26 AM polprog: its for the microwave oscillator modules
08:26 AM polprog: and generally for analog stuff
08:26 AM rue_mohr: yea, +-8 is op-amp territory
08:26 AM rue_mohr: -24 for tuning diode?
08:27 AM polprog: the idea is that it will plug into a backplane which gives it +12V and also gives +12 and maybe +5 for the rest of the cards, microcontrollers and so on
08:27 AM polprog: so there will be a +12 supply, or a while ATX power supply on the backplane, and the card only makes the analog power supply voltages
08:27 AM polprog: yeah. -24 for the tuning diodes
08:27 AM polprog: s/while/whole/
08:27 AM rue_mohr: ok
08:28 AM polprog: for my thesis i need to make a simple card that takes usb/uart in and outputs a few TTL and 0-10V signals
08:28 AM polprog: so that will likely run from the 12V part
08:28 AM polprog: or 12+5, if i decided to put an ATX socket on the backplane
08:29 AM rue_mohr: k
08:29 AM polprog: id probably put a 7805 footprint on the PCB anyway, and just not solder if it i decide to privide 5V from the outside
08:30 AM rue_mohr: so, its like a plc extension module
08:30 AM polprog: kindof
08:30 AM polprog: i want to make it modular, because later, i will be adding a divider/counter card
08:30 AM polprog: the idea is to stabilize a YIG oscillator for it
08:30 AM rue_mohr: there a chip, max... 4 channel DAC, 8 bit
08:30 AM polprog: I found a cool TI divider for up to 20GHz
08:31 AM rue_mohr: nice
08:31 AM polprog: but first, just the control part
08:31 AM rue_mohr: the 7490 goes surprisingly high for its age, apparently some of its origional uses were radio plls
08:31 AM polprog: i need a TTL output, a 0-5V analog output and two 0-10V analog outputs
08:32 AM rue_mohr: .. there is mx7524
08:32 AM rue_mohr: I wonder what that 4 channel was...
08:33 AM polprog: ill probably use one of these ch32 chips
08:33 AM rue_mohr: maxim 4 channel serial DAC
08:33 AM rue_mohr: voltage dac...
08:33 AM polprog: serial dac would be nicer to. I'd probably then just make 4 0-10V output channels
08:33 AM rue_mohr: the ch32 dont have dac do they?
08:33 AM polprog: they probably only have PWM :/
08:34 AM polprog: i dont want PWM
08:34 AM rue_mohr: I wonder how EGMK works on DAC..
08:34 AM rue_mohr: hah I'm late leaving for works
08:35 AM polprog: godspeed
08:35 AM * rue_mohr tries to get his socks on
08:35 AM polprog: i got an hour left
08:35 AM polprog: just one sock?
08:35 AM polprog: youll walk circles in just one sock
08:35 AM rue_mohr: NO TIME FOR TWO
08:35 AM polprog: http://www.lartmaker.nl/gallery/
08:35 AM polprog: absolutely cute ARM computer
08:35 AM polprog: DEC!
06:45 PM rue_mohr: neat!
07:02 PM VanUnamed_ is now known as VanUnamed
07:13 PM rue_mohr: polprog,
