01:59 PM rue_mohr: heh, something more robot
02:54 PM polprog: evening
02:54 PM polprog: happy easter sunday
03:23 PM rue_mohr: :0
04:10 PM polprog: my hand measuring device firmware is taking shape
04:11 PM polprog: i have to solder on the IMU
04:11 PM polprog: and a few on the tape
04:11 PM polprog: got SPI working today
04:27 PM rue_mohr: oh yea, maybe tonight I'll make that bend sensor

04:30 PM rue_mohr: sorry tom, no success yet, the sand was too dry
04:31 PM polprog: metal cast or casting sand cast?
04:31 PM Tom_L: is that one i modeled? i forget
04:31 PM rue_mohr: yup
04:31 PM rue_mohr: sand cast
04:32 PM polprog: that grey stuff is sand?
04:32 PM rue_mohr: the sand was too dry tho
04:32 PM Tom_L: aluminum
04:32 PM polprog: oh
04:32 PM polprog: thats quite oxidized..
04:32 PM rue_mohr: the aluminum was cast in sand
04:32 PM rue_mohr: I sand blasted it to clean off the casting sand
04:32 PM polprog: i see
04:33 PM polprog: i wonder if you can get helium in tanks
04:33 PM rue_mohr: ?
04:33 PM Tom_L: yes
04:33 PM polprog: to cast in helium atmosphere so that it does not oxidize that bad
04:33 PM Tom_L: i had one for my welder
04:33 PM polprog: as a fin excercise
04:33 PM polprog: fun*
04:34 PM Tom_L: err maybe it was argon
04:34 PM Tom_L: i forget, it's been too long
04:35 PM Tom_L: the ones i have now are tri mix
04:35 PM rue_mohr: fellow quits his job at helium factory, refuses to be talked to in that tone of voice.
04:35 PM polprog: yeah i think argon is the one used
04:35 PM polprog: lol
04:35 PM Tom_L: https://www.amazon.com/Steel-Helium-Cylinder-CGA580-Valve/dp/B01E2T9WI0
04:36 PM Tom_L: mine are small like that
04:36 PM Tom_L: i do so little welding they probably need to be re certified
04:46 PM rue_shop2: I accidently broke the mounting flange while snapping off the runner too :/
05:15 PM rue_shop3: ok I think the ammeter is installed for the cnc
05:16 PM rue_shop3: now I might know how close I am to tripping the breaker
05:17 PM polprog: *sticks pliers between phase and neutral*
05:17 PM polprog: this close: ---><---
05:18 PM rue_shop3: slow idle is 2.5A, 6k is 5A
05:18 PM rue_shop3: (no load)
05:21 PM polprog: hm
05:21 PM polprog: what's a typical household outlet rating on your side of the ocean?
05:24 PM rue_shop3: "15A" but 80% so 12A to breaker trip
05:25 PM polprog: so similar
05:25 PM polprog: 16A here but there is a thermal trip
05:25 PM polprog: i think it's at 16A actually
05:25 PM polprog: so you can pull 15A and it will be a-ok
05:26 PM rue_shop3: hmm
05:36 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1310203.jpg
05:36 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1310205.jpg
05:36 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1310206.jpg
05:37 PM Tom_L: kinda nice to have a decent mill
05:47 PM rue_mohr: :)
05:48 PM rue_mohr: I'm hesitant to try the other steam engine peices, I need to change the finishing pass on the job
09:38 PM rue_mohr: hmmm, should I just let the budget for the cnc go out of control and spend $45 on the Y drive system?
09:40 PM rue_mohr: yup, clicking buy
09:57 PM Tom_L: let's not overdo it
09:58 PM Tom_L: what's wrong with Y anyway?
10:04 PM rue_mohr: the Y?
10:04 PM rue_mohr: which image?
10:08 PM Tom_L: ......and spend $45 on the Y drive system?
10:08 PM Tom_L: what's wrong with Y anyway?
11:23 PM rue_mohr: oh, the new cnc, the 4x8 one
11:23 PM rue_mohr: thats not working yet
