04:53 AM polprog: read this later http://usbjtag.com/phpbb3/viewforum.php?f=15&sid=bde833dfcc10fdde144a08b9e88792d0
06:10 AM rue_mohr: dream
06:12 AM rue_mohr: scheduled a bus trip to somewhere in canada for like $67 for me and mom, turns out the booking was just to get a plate of nuts for the trip, at the depot mom managed to buy the tickets for $13, seems she really wanted to go
06:12 AM rue_mohr: the trip was taken on a big walking robot, 6 wheeled legs, about 2 stroies tall thru a construction zone
06:14 AM rue_mohr: in the construction zone they were building a huge walking platform, about 100 stories tall and the area of a city, all cast concrete. They were casting it all on pillars, then installing the wheels and demoing the pillars
06:15 AM rue_mohr: during a travel break ma started to wander off and I stopped her, the travel guide was a droid, for some reason we brought a pneumatic nail gun with us and I was worried the droid was going to screw up and shoot itself with it.
06:35 AM rue_mohr: the depot was a aviation equipment service shop, they had a bunch of wheeled movers, looked like 8 cylinder wankle engines on them, remote controlled sets of 2
06:35 AM rue_mohr: the wheeled walker was about 10 feet wide, 30 feet long, we were all just sitting on it, at one point it stumbled and I commented that it was probably an alpha prototype.
04:53 PM aandrew: dude
04:53 PM aandrew: I had a dream with you in it last week
04:53 PM aandrew: it was fucking weird
06:39 PM rue_mohr: hah, that goes with me
06:39 PM rue_mohr: did I look like a toaster, but when you saw me you just knew it was me for some completely illogical reason?
06:47 PM aandrew: no. you were pretty normal other than you were eating what was like an endless fruit roll up backwards... as in it was already all in your belly and you kept pulling out bits and giving them to the people you were introducing me to all around what must have been your town
06:47 PM aandrew: everyone knew you and was cool with you sharing your regurgitated fruit roll ups
06:48 PM aandrew: we came to what was like a sorority girl house and ALL the girls had eyebrows like Bert from Bert and Ernie... it was so weird
06:48 PM aandrew: it was sometime around then that I woke up and spent the next ten minutes trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with my brain
06:52 PM rue_mohr: hahah
07:56 PM rue_mohr: I need to make another set of jigs for slotting the latches.
07:56 PM rue_mohr: jig?
07:57 PM * rue_mohr drags his body over to the 3d printer
07:57 PM rue_mohr: oh I know, I started work an hour early today... thast what happened
07:57 PM rue_mohr: and I forgot to go home an hour early
08:01 PM Tom_L: should we improve it or is it good?
08:22 PM rue_mohr: well, I had an issue becasue my printer only printed a tiny little dot
08:22 PM rue_mohr: I forgot that you did it in inches,
08:23 PM rue_mohr: and I forgot that 25.4x is 2540%
08:23 PM rue_mohr: and I also had to flip it over to print it. But I exported an adjusted vesion and its all good
08:24 PM rue_mohr: interesting day at work trying to identify the circuits in a box I need to work on
08:24 PM Tom_L: hah
08:24 PM rue_mohr: took me the whole day to work out *most* of them
08:25 PM Tom_L: i should send the metal ones
08:25 PM rue_mohr: one of the circuits went from one panel, thru some junction boxes, and down a cable across the building to another panel
08:25 PM Tom_L: i'll never use them now that i redid mine
08:25 PM rue_mohr: the 3d printed is ok
08:25 PM Tom_L: unless i ground them up into something else by now
08:26 PM rue_mohr: cold cold cold
08:26 PM Tom_L: we're getting - numbers this weekend
08:26 PM rue_mohr: yup
08:26 PM rue_mohr: I'm watching the temp here tank pretty quick
08:28 PM Tom_L: haha i did save the bender
08:28 PM rue_mohr: :)
08:28 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A9_Bender/assembly1.jpg
08:29 PM rue_mohr: I'm curious how it'll wear
08:29 PM Tom_L: keep the curve lubed
08:29 PM rue_mohr: I'm cold, or I'd go do more sprayers
08:30 PM rue_mohr: yea, I give it some oil before a batch
08:30 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Extra/A12_visejaw.jpg
08:30 PM rue_mohr: oh yea, cause you used a slot cutter
08:30 PM Tom_L: now i do
08:31 PM rue_mohr: I should get one
08:32 PM rue_mohr: just want to sleep
08:32 PM rue_mohr: dont even want food
08:32 PM Tom_L: it would work good if you had a tool changer
08:32 PM rue_mohr: I'll get home an hour early tommorow
08:32 PM Tom_L: the new one
08:32 PM rue_mohr: I dont mind one op at a time
08:32 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A12_New/A12_P2_2.jpg
08:32 PM rue_mohr: the batches are big enough that it works
08:33 PM rue_mohr: so, with a 1/8" endmill, how much of a pass on the slotting do you think I can do at once?
08:33 PM Tom_L: full width maybe 1/16 deep maybe a little less
08:33 PM Tom_L: that's why i wanted the slot cutter
08:33 PM rue_mohr: I can lie to the cam and tell it to make a 1/8"+0/infinity pocket
08:34 PM Tom_L: i don't remember, maybe i did 3-4 passes
08:34 PM Tom_L: i may still have the program, i can look
08:34 PM rue_mohr: It would be nice to know how deep we cut
08:34 PM Tom_L: checking to see
08:34 PM rue_mohr: the program I was using was a bit funkey
08:35 PM rue_mohr: I should give that poor old machine more upgrades
08:36 PM rue_mohr: yea, I'm too tired to play
08:36 PM rue_mohr: probably spend tommorow working out the rest of that circuit
08:36 PM rue_mohr: someone actually wired the pharmacy computer outlet into the switched side of the lighting circuit
08:37 PM rue_mohr: I have it on the continious side now, but it needs to be on a different circuit.
08:38 PM rue_mohr: a noodles, I'll have a noodles for supper
08:39 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A12_New/A12_p2.jpg
08:39 PM Tom_L: looks like 6 passes
08:39 PM Tom_L: .0625 deep
08:39 PM Tom_L: which is what i said
08:40 PM Tom_L: 1/16
08:40 PM Tom_L: purple dotted line is the tool
08:40 PM Tom_L: but i cut it short to where it doesn't cut alot of air
08:45 PM rue_mohr: hmm
08:53 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A12_New/A12_P2.txt
08:54 PM Tom_L: i'm not exactly sure where Z0 is
08:54 PM Tom_L: 1" above the fixture i think
08:56 PM Tom_L: yeah, pretty sure that's right
08:57 PM Tom_L: most likely the right front edge of the rear jaw for X & Y
08:57 PM Tom_L: the feeds are pretty moderate i think
09:00 PM rue_shop3: ok I finished fixing one sprayer
09:00 PM rue_shop3: the last 3 need new heads
09:00 PM Tom_L: ^^ just for reference
09:01 PM Tom_L: you can try it if you can figure out where zero is
09:03 PM rue_mohr: :]
09:03 PM rue_mohr: I'm still printing the jig
09:03 PM rue_mohr: then I need to print a pen holder
09:05 PM Tom_L: is the plastic jig fairly accurate?
09:06 PM Tom_L: ok so aparently Y0 is the center of the part
09:06 PM rue_mohr: yup
09:06 PM Tom_L: X0 would be the right end of the jig
09:06 PM Tom_L: no i mean in that program i just posted for P2
09:07 PM rue_mohr: posted?
09:07 PM Tom_L: <Tom_L> http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A12_New/A12_P2.txt
09:07 PM Tom_L: to match the pic i posted of 6 cuts
09:07 PM rue_mohr: oo missed that line
09:08 PM Tom_L: it's posted for lcnc so may need a bit of adjustment
09:08 PM Tom_L: but only one tool so it should work for you
09:08 PM Tom_L: what was your max spindle speed?
09:08 PM Tom_L: programed is 4k rpm
09:09 PM rue_mohr: 6k I think
09:09 PM Tom_L: that was before i started tuning chip loads on cutters i think
09:09 PM Tom_L: so it's probably just a guess
09:10 PM Tom_L: dry run it once and maybe you can use it on the new mill
09:12 PM rue_mohr: as long as I dont overcut any I'm ok for a redo
09:12 PM Tom_L: and get it centered
09:13 PM rue_mohr: what smells like burning noodles?
09:13 PM Tom_L: i was looking how i cut the first position on the old method and i don't like it
09:13 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure how you do that
09:15 PM Tom_L: oh i have 2 P2... i flipped the parts around so they wouldn't slip out of the jaws
09:15 PM Tom_L: which way are yours? show me your jaws
09:17 PM Tom_L: is it like my pic or is the left one flipped the other way?
09:19 PM rue_mohr: ok, its printed, I started a pencil holder
09:20 PM rue_mohr: I hold them upright and use a 1/8" milling bit
09:20 PM Tom_L: i know but which way is the part oriented?
09:20 PM rue_mohr: the jaws hold them into the jig
09:20 PM rue_mohr: up
09:20 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A12_New/A12_p2.jpg
09:20 PM rue_mohr: I'm using a milling bit to do the slotting
09:20 PM Tom_L: like that or is the left one flipped the other way?
09:21 PM rue_mohr: huh mirrored
09:22 PM Tom_L: ok that was the original, i flipped it so it couldn't come out of the jaws
09:22 PM Tom_L: so i know which program to give you
09:24 PM rue_mohr: I'm gonna sleep
09:24 PM rue_mohr: been up too long
09:24 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A12_New/A12_p2a.jpg
09:24 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A12_New/A12_p2.jpg
09:24 PM Tom_L: like the first one or the 2nd one?
09:24 PM rue_mohr: I'll working setting up a vise for the slotting tommorow
09:25 PM rue_mohr: uh
09:25 PM Tom_L: p2 or p2a
09:25 PM rue_mohr: neither?.... one sec
09:25 PM Tom_L: it's one or the other :)
09:26 PM rue_mohr: wtf, the upload froze
09:27 PM rue_mohr: eeek, ruemohr.org is down?
09:27 PM rue_mohr: oh no
09:27 PM Tom_L: seems so
09:27 PM rue_mohr: uh
09:28 PM Tom_L: that's why my server is in the basement
09:28 PM rue_mohr: https://postimg.cc/gXB5N3yc
09:29 PM rue_mohr: I'm not argueing, but having it not thru the home internet connection is nice
09:29 PM rue_mohr: LOTS of bot action
09:29 PM Tom_L: that should be the front jaw
09:29 PM rue_mohr: I only use one
09:29 PM Tom_L: and that's the latest rev
09:29 PM Tom_L: so do i i think
09:29 PM Tom_L: but mine is on the back of the vise
09:29 PM rue_mohr: mm
09:30 PM rue_mohr: You have a mirrored and modified version there
09:30 PM Tom_L: X0 is the end with the part laying horizontal
09:30 PM Tom_L: i can flip it easy enough just need to know where your zeros are
09:31 PM Tom_L: Z0 is 1" above the top of the fixture
09:32 PM Tom_L: which end is your X0?
09:33 PM rue_mohr: oo 1"!! yea, I have to remember that
09:33 PM rue_mohr: I dont know yet
09:33 PM rue_mohr: oh, uh left
09:33 PM Tom_L: is that print the back jaw or the front jaw?
09:33 PM rue_mohr: oh
09:33 PM rue_mohr: uh
09:33 PM Tom_L: should be the front
09:33 PM rue_mohr: I should do the back so I can pull it out frontwards
09:33 PM Tom_L: the way i have the model oriented
09:34 PM Tom_L: that is the latest version though, it's just reverse of what i did
09:35 PM rue_mohr: :)
09:35 PM rue_mohr: I have a bag of like 20 to be slotted
09:35 PM Tom_L: i just posted mine.. where the hell is it..
09:35 PM rue_mohr: I need to sleep :]
09:36 PM rue_mohr: you have some time, I might not get to it tommorow
09:36 PM rue_mohr: I'll see how I'm doing
09:36 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Extra/A12_visejaw.jpg
09:36 PM Tom_L: my zero is on the right there but the jaw would be standing up
09:37 PM Tom_L: that was just a test fit after making the jaws
09:37 PM rue_mohr: I'll try to work out a saw cutter
09:37 PM Tom_L: and that would be the rear jaw
09:37 PM rue_mohr: I think its faster
09:37 PM rue_mohr: maybe I should make a jig for the table saw? :S
09:38 PM Tom_L: you need better grip using one of those. you'd need an aluminum jaw set
09:38 PM Tom_L: i'm afraid they'd fly loose using a saw
09:38 PM rue_mohr: would need to be clamped better for sure
09:38 PM Tom_L: you're welcome to try.... been nice knowin ya
09:38 PM rue_mohr: I need sleep
09:39 PM Tom_L: that horizontal one would fly out of the jig if you sawed it
09:40 PM Tom_L: practically guaranteed
09:41 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A12_New/A12_P2_2.jpg
09:41 PM Tom_L: i don't have alot holding it but it's solid and very close to the jaws
09:41 PM Tom_L: the cutter nearly rubs the jaws
09:42 PM Tom_L: on the right side there
09:42 PM Tom_L: you can cut a set of those if you want, i have the program but you will need a solid machining vise
09:43 PM Tom_L: https://www.shars.com/4-440v-cnc-milling-machine-vise-0-0004-1
09:43 PM Tom_L: that's the one i have
09:44 PM Tom_L: kurt are alot more
09:46 PM rue_mohr: you saw that angle iron one I made?
09:46 PM rue_mohr: I was impressed with it
09:52 PM Tom_L: yeah i saw it
09:52 PM Tom_L: the pressure on the jaws needs to be even though on these fixtures
09:53 PM Tom_L: or the blank can pop out
