05:12 PM aandrew: the old telephone lines (F1) were FDM where now everything is TDM
05:13 PM aandrew: and the old Nortel PBXes used a crazy interleaving mechanism for their superloops because the digital logic wasn't quite fast enough in that era to do it non-interleaved
