07:52 AM rue_mohr: you know those old aluminum lawn chairs?
08:05 AM rue_mohr: its thinner, but iirc the right dimentions
09:27 AM polprog: sup?
09:58 AM Tom_L: no 1" thinwall tubing here
11:44 AM Tom_L: rue_mohr, what's the square dimensions on those tube holders?
12:23 PM Tom_L: i have a profile for you for the U clamp
12:23 PM Tom_L: with cutter reliefs
12:28 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Tube_slots/Tube_slot_clamp.jpg
12:28 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Tube_slots/Tube_Slot_clamp.STL
12:29 PM Tom_L: the slots give you .020" clearance per side on both slots
12:29 PM Tom_L: and .040" on Z on the bottom slot
12:30 PM Tom_L: square is 1.25"
12:30 PM Tom_L: hole is 1"
12:31 PM Tom_L: so now Y0 would be the back edge of the clamp not the tube
12:32 PM Tom_L: X0 is the end of the tube
12:33 PM Tom_L: Z0 is still 1" above the TUBE not the fixture
12:51 PM Tom_L: wondering if a couple of these will work to clamp a tube for slotting: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Tube_slots/Tube_slot_clamp_short.jpg
12:51 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Can_holder_assy.jpg
12:51 PM Tom_L: the tube in question
12:52 PM Tom_L: 1" .055" wall
12:53 PM Tom_L: alum clamps or print a longer one. wide tolerance on those
12:53 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Tube_slots/Tube_slot_clamp.jpg
12:53 PM Tom_L: if i have him print one
06:48 PM rue_mohr: I'd put a compression relief in the bottom
06:48 PM rue_mohr: the PLA is quite compression-strong
06:49 PM rue_mohr: !!!!
06:49 PM rue_mohr: JLCPCB arrived today!
06:49 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1300038.jpg
06:49 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1300039.jpg
06:49 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1300040.jpg
06:49 PM rue_mohr: before osh ordered at the same time...
06:59 PM Tom_shop: making a tube fixture
07:53 PM Tom_L: had to wait and click inside, clicks are too slow in the shop
10:26 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Tube_slots/Tube_clamp1.jpg
10:26 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Tube_slots/Tube_clamp2.jpg
10:27 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Tube_slots/Tube_clamp3.jpg
10:27 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Tube_slots/Tube_clamp4.jpg
10:28 PM Tom_L: i think if you printed that 3" one the idea would work
10:29 PM Tom_L: these didn't turn out so good. had problems from start to finish
10:29 PM Tom_L: machine problems
10:31 PM Tom_L: if you printed, i'd need to adjust the square to match your others
10:52 PM rue_mohr: hmm whats the size on that...
10:53 PM rue_mohr: My jig square is 39mmx39mm, with a radius of 2mm
10:55 PM Tom_L: 1.25" square
10:56 PM Tom_L: yours is closer to 1.5" ... a little bigger
11:05 PM rue_mohr: :]
11:05 PM rue_mohr: wow its only 9 and I'm exhausted
11:06 PM rue_mohr: I really love these pcbs, I want to get one assembled
11:06 PM Tom_L: why did you suggest milling the slots vs using your router?
11:07 PM rue_mohr: the router takes a lot of setup and I have to change bits
11:07 PM Tom_L: i adjusted the 3" model. i'll post a stl here in a few
11:08 PM rue_mohr: you know thats a 6" tube?
11:08 PM rue_mohr: its the end-end length
11:08 PM Tom_L: yes, i figured you would still use those squares you have to support the middle and far end
11:09 PM rue_mohr: I'm sorry about not being completely online,
11:09 PM Tom_L: i've about had it too
11:09 PM rue_mohr: the 3" is usually made on-the-end of a larger stick
11:09 PM rue_mohr: and gets progressivly routed and cut off
11:09 PM Tom_L: the 3" stl is just to support the end of any of the tubes
11:09 PM rue_mohr: beacuse that large slot is continious
11:10 PM rue_mohr: oh I se, yea
11:10 PM Tom_L: and support the rest with the other squares
11:10 PM Tom_L: that way you can turn it end for end and mill the other slot
11:10 PM rue_mohr: yup, use them for alignment
11:10 PM rue_mohr: I need to see how my vise lines up
11:11 PM rue_mohr: I should check the o2 level in the house
11:11 PM Tom_L: you can look at that stl and see how it looks
11:11 PM rue_mohr: but If I'm tired I just go intot he shop and fall asleep there anyhow
11:12 PM rue_mohr: link me again!
11:12 PM Tom_L: same as those pics
11:12 PM rue_mohr: mm I can print one with legth of the vise
11:13 PM rue_mohr: with a little setback to keep position in the vise jaws
11:13 PM Tom_L: i would need to adjust the gcode file since the square is bigger now
11:13 PM rue_mohr: ?
11:13 PM rue_mohr: same deltas, different center
11:13 PM Tom_L: i set X & Y off the corner of the square holder
11:13 PM Tom_L: not the tube now
11:13 PM rue_mohr: I'm gonna try to reconnect tommorow, my eyes keep closing :(
11:14 PM rue_mohr: refing off the tube sounds good
11:14 PM Tom_L: i kept getting following errors on the cnc
11:14 PM Tom_L: so mine turned out like crap
11:14 PM rue_mohr: esp if I can just bump the tube up to the bit and tighten the vise
11:14 PM Tom_L: i had to reset X & Y several times
11:14 PM rue_mohr: following errors?
11:14 PM rue_mohr: :/
11:15 PM rue_mohr: step drivers?
11:15 PM Tom_L: no, something ahead of that probably
11:15 PM rue_mohr: hmm
11:15 PM Tom_L: it's a software/firmware issue
11:15 PM Tom_L: probably need to slow something down a bit
11:15 PM rue_mohr: this is where a continious stream of little projects helps the process
11:15 PM Tom_L: accel or something
11:15 PM rue_mohr: I'm gonna sleep
11:16 PM rue_mohr: work was kinda crazy again today
11:16 PM Tom_L: me too
11:16 PM rue_mohr: thanks for the energy on the sprayer stuff
11:16 PM Tom_L: just pisses me off because for a long time the mill worked great
11:17 PM Tom_L: and the pendant was acting up again
