12:56 PM aandrew: polprog: yeah my twitter use has fallen to almost zero, and whenever I do go on I've got "notifications" from twitter's algo trying to get me involved. i.e. not people mentioning me or replyign to me, but random things that twitter thinks I find interesting. there's no way to permanently disable those so that's pretty much the kiss of death as far as I'm concerned
01:13 PM rue_shop2: I'm on bluesky but its dead, and no video clips :/
01:14 PM rue_shop2: the following:ad ratio is almost 1:1
01:14 PM rue_shop2: which is really frustrating
01:19 PM Tom_L: i'll just stick to irc thanks
01:19 PM Tom_L: seems the whole world is dying
01:24 PM Tom_L: btw do the plastic clamps hold pretty good?
01:25 PM Tom_L: solid print or hollow?
01:26 PM aandrew: I'm on mastodon and quite like it there
01:27 PM aandrew: and I have my lemmy instance
01:27 PM aandrew: I'll eventually get my mastodon instance in
04:24 PM rue_mohr: is there much life on mastadon? any japaneese makers?

04:25 PM rue_mohr: new box for plumbing fittings, table saw is working good, made a synthetic stump frame for ma
04:58 PM rue_shop2: lawn tractor wheels
05:02 PM Tom_L: won't the plumbing fittings fall out?
05:02 PM Tom_L: ohahh the first box
05:10 PM rue_shop2: heh
05:10 PM rue_shop2: going to pedal into town and get a jug of milk
05:10 PM rue_shop2: I found some material to make the new bit holder on the lathe and started the saw cutting some plate
05:11 PM rue_shop2: then vacuum my bedroom and re-cam the pillow blocks, I'll be done for the day
05:36 PM Tom_L: use some of the numbers i showed for the spindle & feed
05:36 PM Tom_L: you're used to running slow feeds and now you don't have to as much
05:40 PM Tom_L: on a 3/8" cutter .002 - .003 ipt or .051 mm/t
05:40 PM Tom_L: 3500 rpm
05:41 PM Tom_L: with the smaller spindle motor maybe .002 ipt
05:41 PM Tom_L: that's 3500 rpm F30 ipm
08:16 PM rue_shop2: :)
08:18 PM Tom_L: that would probably be pushing the limit
08:21 PM Tom_L: my cutter test i did was S3500 F30
08:21 PM rue_shop2: were just doing a wood thing for a buddy
08:21 PM Tom_L: for your bearing block
08:22 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trzO8H6tKW8
08:22 PM rue_shop2: seems a 6 flue 1/4" cutter doesn't need 6k rpm in wood I'v retempered the bit
08:22 PM rue_shop2: :)
08:22 PM Tom_L: that's about as hard as i'll ever push mine
08:22 PM Tom_L: pour the feed to it at 6k and it would do better if the spindle has the HP
08:22 PM Tom_L: it was burning more than cutting
08:23 PM Tom_L: my kid brought home a 6 flute a while back
08:24 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/cutters/carbide_6flute1.jpg
08:24 PM Tom_L: radius'd
08:24 PM Tom_L: for hard metals
09:26 PM rue_shop2: erp 2 flue carbide, it'll be ok
09:27 PM rue_shop2: nice
09:30 PM Tom_L: 2 flute is fine
09:31 PM Tom_L: just remember the chip per tooth formula
09:31 PM Tom_L: Chip Load = Feed Rate (inches per minute) / (RPM x number of flutes).

09:59 PM VanUnamed: rue_mohr:
09:59 PM VanUnamed: i apologize for that womans behaviour
09:59 PM VanUnamed: she will get executed if she keeps it up.
