09:00 AM skunkwor1s is now known as skunkworks
04:27 PM polprog: 20:18 < aandrew> gonna do more cleanup/reorg, there may be other stuff you
04:27 PM polprog: [..]
04:27 PM polprog: i think i got stuck on these hc11/hc12 boards with the programming step
04:27 PM polprog: i had something compiled but it would not upload with the bdm adapter you gave me
04:28 PM polprog: likely i was missing some software tool, but it would be neat to write something for that ancient architecture
04:28 PM polprog: I just bought a few devices running TI omap4 chips
04:28 PM polprog: (Symbol MC18N0 barcode readers)
04:29 PM polprog: back before self checkouts there was the idea that you could scan your own items as you throw them into the cart
04:29 PM polprog: but that never worked
04:29 PM polprog: and these readers would often crap out by themselves
04:29 PM polprog: surprisingly Symbol/Zebra kept pushing them long enough that they run linux 2.6 and android, they used to run WinCE exclusively
04:29 PM Tom_L: mmm i forget what i used on the hc11
04:30 PM Tom_L: sure i still have all that somewhere
04:30 PM Tom_L: even have a couple boards i never assembled
04:30 PM polprog: if you find it and it finds a way to my hard disk i would be happy
04:30 PM polprog: :)
04:31 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/pdf/68hc11/bb2man6.pdf
04:31 PM Tom_L: was the larger of the 2
04:31 PM Tom_L: still have a blank board
04:32 PM Tom_L: https://www.seanet.com/~karllunt/begin00.htm
04:33 PM Tom_L: https://www.seanet.com/~karllunt/sites.htm
04:33 PM polprog: right, they had the nice internal serial bootloader that hc12 had
04:33 PM Tom_L: right, mine had that
04:33 PM Tom_L: some had a debugger in them
04:34 PM Tom_L: i don't remember which variant
04:34 PM Tom_L: used a basic compiler one of the guys wrote
04:35 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/lightseeker/lightseeker_index.php
04:35 PM Tom_L: that's the smaller board
04:35 PM polprog: i think i remember this
04:36 PM Tom_L: that's one of us
04:36 PM Tom_L: ;)
04:36 PM polprog: as in
04:36 PM polprog: my first robotics contact was with the Mindstorms NXT
04:36 PM polprog: it was a nice toy
04:36 PM polprog: but i remember i was reading that page
04:36 PM Tom_L: portland robotics group had those iirc
04:37 PM Tom_L: either portland or seattle
04:37 PM Tom_L: back then that was the board to have
04:39 PM Tom_L: i also have a couple 68332 boards
04:39 PM Tom_L: and a full set of manuals for it
04:39 PM polprog: whats a 68332?
04:39 PM Tom_L: as well as the 'pink' books for the 11
04:39 PM Tom_L: motorola
04:40 PM Tom_L: 32? bit internal
04:40 PM Tom_L: maybe
04:41 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/maxbot/maxbot_index.php
04:41 PM Tom_L: that's what is on that one
04:41 PM Tom_L: http://robominds.com/
04:42 PM Tom_L: another guy made one too but it was more complicated
04:42 PM Tom_L: program those with a bdm cable
04:43 PM Tom_L: which i have one of
04:43 PM Tom_L: somewhere
04:43 PM polprog: that looks pretty neat
04:43 PM Tom_L: the chip has the "G" mask
04:43 PM Tom_L: iirc
04:43 PM Tom_L: for motion control
04:44 PM Tom_L: TPU
04:44 PM Tom_L: time processing unit
04:44 PM Tom_L: so you can offload tasks to it and not tie up the main micro
04:44 PM Tom_L: https://perso.esiee.fr/~llorense/Labo5201/cmm-332/install-cd-axiom/Documentation/mc68332/c7tpu.pdf
04:45 PM Tom_L: 16channel mcpwm
04:45 PM Tom_L: phase shift pwm
04:45 PM Tom_L: uses an external or gate for the channels
04:45 PM Tom_L: xor?
04:45 PM Tom_L: i forget
04:45 PM polprog: oh wow
04:45 PM polprog: this is quite fascinating
04:46 PM Tom_L: figured you might like that
04:46 PM Tom_L: it was quite a chip for it's day
04:46 PM Tom_L: gnu c was ported for it
04:47 PM Tom_L: back when i was doing it, it didn't support interrupts so you had to drop to asm for those
04:47 PM Tom_L: and you can move the interrupt table
04:48 PM Tom_L: http://www.bitsavers.org/components/motorola/68000/MC68332_Users_Manual_1990.pdf
04:48 PM Tom_L: somebody copied it
04:48 PM Tom_L: i have those books
05:20 PM polprog: gotta hit the hay
05:20 PM polprog: goodnight!
05:28 PM Tom_L: later
10:24 PM rue_mohr: polprog, did the hc11 have buffalo?
10:24 PM rue_mohr: iirc you get a prompt and tell it you uplaoding an S19 file
10:24 PM rue_mohr: send the file and your good
