12:50 AM rue_shop3: a buddy came over and we got it!
01:01 AM rue_shop3: kinda
01:01 AM rue_shop3: there was a snag, the machine is a bit deeper than I thoght
01:01 AM rue_shop3: so its up another 1.75"
01:01 AM rue_shop3: puts the bed at 49" over the floor!
01:33 AM rue_shop3: this machine can actually have a lot trimmed off its depth
01:52 AM rue_shop3: https://www.minarikdrives.com/PCM21000A
01:52 AM rue_shop3: I think thats the speed controller
01:56 AM rue_shop3: 0-10V
01:56 AM rue_shop3: oooh, or 4-20mA
01:57 AM rue_shop3: no 4-20 on mine
06:17 AM Tom_L: glad you got it without much incident
06:21 AM Tom_L: How to convert 0 10V into 4-20mA?
06:21 AM Tom_L: With a 500 ohm resistor parallel to the analog input you can convert the 0 / 4-20mA so that analog voltage input 0 / 2-10 V supplied. Flowing a current of 20 mA through the resistor, a voltage drop of 10 V.
06:23 AM Tom_L: mine was 0-10v but the board had a floating gnd so i had to add an isolation board ahead of the signal
06:23 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Control1.jpg
06:23 AM Tom_L: that's what that board on the left of the door is
06:23 AM Tom_L: that's all it does
06:24 AM Tom_L: the sherline control board is on the bottom of the door
06:24 AM Tom_L: (not anymore)
09:20 AM Tom_L: https://www.amazon.com/NOYITO-Voltage-Current-Module-Generator/dp/B07BDKCVHW
09:22 AM Tom_L: 500 ohm R might work but not as well. non linear and no bottom end
02:44 PM polprog: evening
02:45 PM polprog: rue, did you ever have an 88x31 web button?
03:22 PM aandrew: holy shit don lancaster died last month
03:22 PM aandrew: I had no idea
03:22 PM aandrew: he had some kooky ideas but he was also brilliant
03:49 PM polprog: oh, it's the TV Typewriter guy
03:49 PM polprog: :(
09:28 PM rue_mohr: not a problem
09:28 PM rue_mohr: honestly I dont even know if I need variable spindle speed
09:29 PM rue_mohr: 88x31 web button?
09:29 PM rue_mohr: polprog, what?
09:39 PM rue_mohr: 8km on the trike
09:39 PM rue_mohr: nothing broke
09:54 PM Tom_L: having a constant spindle speed will save cutters in the end
09:54 PM Tom_L: won't bog down under load etc with PID
10:04 PM rue_mohr: it has a regulator on it
10:04 PM rue_mohr: its not adjusted well, but its there
10:05 PM rue_mohr: larger version same deal as the orig sherline
11:00 PM aandrew: https://youtu.be/Yc17oucI6jM
11:00 PM aandrew: maybe some interest here
11:00 PM aandrew: and possiby a distraction for our fearless leader :-)
