03:38 PM Tom_L: i had to remove it because it wouldn't boot but i was able to boot under an older kernel to fix it

03:48 PM Tom_L: customizer just locates installed kernels and lets you manipulate them
03:48 PM Tom_L: i had 3 or 4 on the pc but one was corrupt
03:48 PM Tom_L: so i booted from the old one to remove the bad one

03:50 PM Tom_L: the reason for testing was to find one with the best ethernet latency

05:49 PM Tom_L: gui grub comes up with a menu and if you selected that kernel it would freeze with no keyboard

07:31 PM Tom_L: i've never used lilo and haven't had problems with grub itself so i'll stick with it for now
