08:59 PM rue_mohr: I can shut down the computer with 4 raid drives, remove two and start it back up, then remove the 'failed' drives from the array

10:33 PM rue_shop3: if, when the machine boots, it can only find two of the drives, it'll be ok

10:34 PM rue_shop3: after I boot it with the two old drives missing, I can 'fail' them out and remove them from the array

11:03 PM rue_shop3: the idea is that now that all 4 are a mirror, I remove the two 1T and expand the filesystem on the two 4T to the rest of the space
